But my original prediction: Lazarus is going for the Maw of Abaddon next > EXTREMELY LIKELY!

Er… how is this extremely likely? We see the new map there, starting at 0:38, and it is green. Vigil are present, and dinorsaurs too, but most importantly: it is green.

That’s Heart of Maguuma plants too.

Sloping volcanic cliffs though.

All the Lazarus stuff looks to be in Taimi’s lab environs (and yep, sure does look like a Scruffy 2.0!). But that sub arriving at a shore is clearly somewhere new. There’s unbound magic floating over the water to the left and upthrust rocks that look unfamiliar to me, as well as a vista that isn’t any vista we have yet.

Kasmeer’s new outfit is only teased but looks rather … floral. It may be yet another with shoulder fluff that detracts from the overall look, but there’s no telling from the tiny fragment we can see.

I’d say Fire Islands.

Sloping cliffs with channels, suggest a volcanic environment.

Also, the plants look like those from Ember Bay.

Next episode may 2nd – not surprising.

2 more episodes in this season. That means the season must end around Aug/Sep. Presumably the xpac follows a couple of months later.

The opening sequence says ‘Kryta in danger’ and the surroundings certainly look Krytan. The area does look a little like the mid east end of Lake Doric, but looking from the opposite side. Perhaps a new bit of Lake Doric.

Clear Asura architecture where Jory and Kasmeer are trapped.

Kasmeer seems to recognize someone. Perhaps it is personal or maybe something more god-like.

There are parts that look like Tarir/Auric basin and othe parts that look like the Fire Islands.

Possibly new areas of both.

They it ‘ends here’. That is probably the Fire Islands.

Ghost Thief solo roaming (UPDATED 10/6)

Lol, how is the Warrior bad?! OP was visible only once at the beginning then he was stealthed for the rest of it. The only thing the Warrior could have done is to run which if I were in his shoes I would have.

I’ve fought a few trapper Thieves and they don’t usually manage to stay stealthed for 100% of the fight. But if I don’t see them at least once every 10 seconds or so I just run the hell away. You have no clue where they are other than when you occasionally see a Black Powder drop so you have no way of knowing if you’re hitting them, if they’re right on top of you or if they’ve already left.

I don’t know about trapper Thief being “OP” but it is definitely cheesey and extremely difficult to fight “properly.” The Warrior wasn’t bad he was just panicking trying to fight something he couldn’t see even for one second. The only thing bad he did was not deciding to run away when he realized that it would be stupid to continue trying.

I think some people have a very obscure definition of what makes a good or a bad player. And staying completely invisible for an entire fight does not make you good so please refrain from feeling too MLG while doing it.

I used to play a Trapper Ranger back when traps were throwable and I loved it like crazy. I still miss it a ton but I didn’t ever claim I was skilled because I knew that it lacked counterplay. I knew how to play the BUILD but that didn’t mean I was a good PLAYER. Just because you know how to stay completely invisible doesn’t make you good it just means you can play the build well. If you’re truly good you wouldn’t need to rely on something that eliminates counterplay.

Yes.

I don’t think there was any chance for the warrior to win that fight.

Carried by traps and the stupid trapper runes. Lamest build of all available.

Agreed.

Anet recently nerfed the Mesmer PU trait because of too much stealth.

Then this style of play, with pretty much perma stealth, should be adjusted too.

Generally ok.

PU kinda saw it coming after so many whiners, guess I have to run traveler until chron comes out.

Any plans to increase the base stealth on veil? 2s is terrible and when it is at 4s with PU everyone is loving it. Buffing it to 3s base would be really nice during that patch and retain its use in WvW.

Yep. Pretty much saw the PU nerf coming too.

I strongly suspect that Thieves were the biggest complainers about our stealth.

I guess they see us as natural competitors, since we are both stealthing classess. Also, we have been fodder for them in the past.

I do hope the perma stealth, trapper thief gets a fair nerf as well.

It is everything PU is and more (damage, stealth and mobility).

I do agree about Veil. It does need an adjustment if PU is adjusted.

Also, I would add a call to buff Blurred Frenzy. It is too vulnerable to AoE now.

Perhaps allow us to move or bring back the invuln. It is only 2 1/2 s.

I would like to say thank you to FA and SoS for the many great fights they have given us this week, considering the tough situation they have been in for a long time now (Ive been there I know its rough). Many of us have consistently commented on the nice fights you have given us, and we were happy to see you had people actually show up this week to put up fights, defend etc. Good luck to both your servers and hope to see you both rebuild

-Hugs from BG

Thanks for the post.

I am from SOS and can completely understand where you are coming from. We have been under-matched and over-matched many times:).

But, we had a few good fights this week!

Good luck in t1!

That’s what happens when they take stealth and turn it into something completely ridiculous. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the mesmers you run into today, were thieves before the big patch.

That may explain why so many of the new Mesmer roamers are complete trash. People who played thief rerolled as Mesmer and know little to nothing about the class. Glad you agree it’s a benefit lol

The there should be no problem for you.

It isn’t like they are in huge demand for WvW groups.

I haven’t seen any WvW guild advertising for mesmers for at least a year and a half.

It is always Eles, Guards, Warriors or Necros.

Why shouldn’t classes like Mesmers and Thieves be good at the solo/small group roaming?

The state of wvw in t2

Ash.5034

Anyway, after all the squabbling, there are real problems in how WvW is run (IMO).

- The current system makes it very hard for servers to advance up tiers.

- T1 have been allowed to ‘game’ the system and wall off t1.

- Anet allows mass transfers to one server at a time.

Combine that, you end up with ‘stacked’ servers crushing other players for many weeks at a time.

I think very few players enjoy that.

The state of wvw in t2

in WvW

Posted by: Ash.5034

Ash.5034

I look at IOJ. ANET will let what happens, happen. There will be no intervention to save servers.

The servers, FA and SOS, will have to use their resources or methods to maintain morale to keep interest in WvW and T2 for their populations. There will be no white knight for this situation. It will play itself out.

This situation is merely Act One of what will happen.

And does the twenty guilds leaving T2 include the two guilds that are reported leaving just recently? One from FA, one from YB.

Speaking of IoJ…

Remember back when there were four T2 servers so one was always matched up in T3? Remember how badly they behaved? Now it’s happening to them. Maybe they’ll fall to T8 as a result — like IoJ did.

Yeah know about it second hand. Where did you think a lot of IOJ players went? If it is as you say about how badly the T2 servers behaved, why would they move to T2 servers?

Everyone wants to “win.” And once you’re the one dealing out the beatings, you quickly and easily find excuses to justify them.

Yeah, I agree with that. I just remember when FA went down to fight the T3 servers, my driver didn’t log in that week, and I was there to get my dallies and started working on the living story that week.

But hey, I am on FA so I must be guilty.

I am on SOS and we suffered the same thing. We got pushed down to T3 an ‘odds defying’ number of times during that period too.

We had 2 choices; PPT to get back to T2 or disband the server. It was no fun having to beat the T3 servers like that. There were endless complaints in our map chat.

Winning by a huge margin is just as bad as losing by a huge margin.

Surely many YB players must be just as bored by the situation in T2 as anyone.

If it takes months to balance out T2, then I think the game will lose a few players.

I would be in favour of giving YB a crack at T1 (very) soon.

It won’t be more competitive for FA or SOS. Whoever comes down from T1 will probably be at least as strong as YB.

But, it is going to happen eventually. I’d rather get to it sooner.

It might help a few people decide if they really want to be in T1 or not.

Samsung arguably make the best performing SSDs.

The 830 series isn’t the newest model. But, its still good. It shouldn’t slow down GW2 in any way.

Your graphics card and CPU are also decent.

You could have a fault in any of that hardware or software drivers.

But, its more likely your GW2 performance is affected by your network/router, your ISP or just how far away you live from the game servers.

You don’t say where you live. But, if it isn’t North America, then you have to live with laggier performance.

Game has been unplayable for me.

Try fighting like that!

If I were you, I would just get on with fighting and not worry about anyone else.

You obviously have the greatest advantages in this game!

That intel build looks pretty good. Fermi, but is the 650 ti really necessary? Medium settings was my overall goal. Shouldn’t a 7770 get me medium just fine?

You should easily run on medium/high on a 7770. However, if you want to play other games, especially as time progresses, the 650ti will do much better. Also, for higher resolutions (ie 1080P) it’s good to have the 2 GB card as opposed to the 1 GB.

Personally, I’d just go for the 650ti, but you can grab the 7770 if you want.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1BsMZ

Edit: Grabbed some cheaper ram.

Remade the build I listed earlier. This would definitely be better as well as it lands perfectly in your price range and you get a free game.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1Bnjq

Nice. And that’s how you play by the rules guys.

The PSU is excessive, an aftermarket heatsink is unnecessary, there’s no reason to buy Windows 7, and you can easily get by without a disk drive (although it can be convenient). Although, now that I double check, the CX430 isn’t $25 atm so no reason to drop that down. And if you really want the disk drive:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1BsV3

I think Fermi has done a pretty good job of squeezing out a low price there!

All the components seem of reasonable quality.

Even the PSU is decent and known!

Personally, I would go with 650TI GPU version too.

As far as OS goes, I would buy the OEM Win 8.0 as well.

The OEM version is a lot cheaper than buying Windows normally. But, you can usually only buy it when buying motherboard and CPU.

Later on, you won’t get the same deal.

People have been suggesting use the online evaluation version.

You can do that. It will expire in 90 days.

I guess you can totally reinstall your PC every few months.

I wouldn’t say 8 is “way better”. The major problem with 8 is it’s like you went on vacation and when you got back someone moved everything around in your house and you can’t find anything. Why is the silverware in the bedroom closet? Why is my chair in the shower?

If you are use to knowing where everything is in 7, you can feel very lost in 8. And if you are on a laptop with 8 using the track pad, weird stuff can happen because sometimes it’s input as if you are using a touch screen as oppose to a mouse and trigger it’s tablet like features. It can be quite frustrating.

8 does have a more informative task manager.

LOL – there is that!

That is a pretty good analogy.

Microsoft made a big mistake by hiding your silverware.:)

I still can’t believe they removed the Start Button and replaced shutdown etc with charms:).

It ’s even stranger in Windows Server 2012!

But technically the OS- (not the UI), has a lot of new features, yet is faster and uses less memory.

By ‘High Settings’ – I meant at the upper end of playing the game.

‘Ultra’ is just every graphic setting turned up to max.

But, you don’t need everything turned up to max.

There are many GPU settings that can be lowered and make almost no diff.

$100 for Windows- Just buy it.

It is a good deal at that price!

It is the most important part of the system and it’s costs are comparable to other components.

Windows 7 or 8?

As a system, 8 is way better than 7. But, 8 has a few strange issues in the UI.

Personally, I would get 8, since 8.1 is free.

8.1 should resolve the problems when it is released in October.

Have you looked at the directory where GW2 is installed?

I only have 4 files there.

By far (far, far, far) , the biggest is GW2.dat (about 17 GB on my PC).

Apparently that is where almost all of the updates go.

So there aren’t lots of outdated files.

As far as what GW2.dat contains… no idea.

There are a number of PSU calculators online that will give you and idea of what you really need.
eg. this one — http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

The main thing with a PSU is to get a good quality one that is efficient, well-made and supplies reliable voltages.

Two things stood out for me in your original spec.

1- 128GB Samsung SSD. Personally, I wouldn’t go for less than 256 GB. I think you will fill a 128GB too fast.

Guild Wars on its own takes 17GB approx.

Samsung make good SSDs. They are probably the fastest overall. But, there are plenty of other good makes too.

2- RAM of 8GB. I would go for 2×8GB sticks. RAM really is pretty cheap these days.

As far as RAM speed goes. Faster RAM is always better. But, really fast RAM is only needed if you want a high overclock.

I usually buy in the middle speed range. It doesn’t usually cost much more than the cheapest RAM and you do have ability to overclock.

If you don’t overclock then you won’t notice any difference between the slowest and fastest RAM.

Btw- with that CPU and graphics card combo, GW2 should scream along on high settings and high resolution.

Hi.

Looking at your specs…

1- You don’t say if you want to highly overclock it or not. If you aren’t, then you don’t need watercooling. The standard Intel Box Set CPU Fan works fine.

4.- If you want to save money… You could use a cheaper I5 processor and not lose much at all. Also, unless you want watch Bluray movies, a standard DVD drive is enough. Here is a good reference… http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106.html

Regarding #1 the temps in my room during winter/summer can get pretty warm though. It’s not always icy cold, i pay for cable/internet my part of the rent and someone else pays for the other utilities. So during the summer AC might not be running on some days. I dont usually run my PC on those kinds of days, i’m more of a nocturnal guy anyways.

Regarding #4, i wanted to go with ‘the best’ but i didnt want to get too carried away. I can afford an I7 over an I5 for example, but if i dont need a K cause i dont OC, then of course i wont get it. I also watch some blu-rays, reg dvd’s and streams.

Fair enough!

I come from New Zealand and it almost never gets so hot that it would affect a PC.

Also, if you have never assembled a PC before, then there are quite a few videos on YouTube.

Just make sure you understand all about anti-static precautions.

Also, be careful installing the heatsink over the CPU. The little push-in pins are quite fragile.

Hi.

Looking at your specs…

1- You don’t say if you want to highly overclock it or not. If you aren’t, then you don’t need watercooling. The standard Intel Box Set CPU Fan works fine.

2- Again if not overclocking then any good quality RAM is fine. The Corsair RAM sounds OK.

3- I agree with getting a more modern graphics card. That is probably the most important part of your system for gaming. I would look at the Nvidia 660 Ti or the newly released Nvidia GTX 660 in the moderate price range.

4.- If you want to save money… You could use a cheaper I5 processor and not lose much at all. Also, unless you want watch Bluray movies, a standard DVD drive is enough. Here is a good reference… http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106.html

5- I would buy a 256GB SSD. This is another key system component. 128GB can get eaten up pretty quickly these days. Someone else said about setting the BIOS to AHCI for the drive. Make sure you set it before installing Windows 7.

6- You don’t really need an 850W PSU. But, the price doesn’t sound too bad. The main thing is to buy a good quality PSU.
