I believe you need an EXTRA one for your breathing mask because it replaces your helmet underwater!
Same happened to me with the soldier runes.
So yeah, get an extra rune and stick it on your breather.
Definitely sounds like a bug then.
Arg! Wish I’d known before I forked out 10 gold on the TP for the Mystic Rifle.
Ah well, it does the job. Not much I can do…though I do wish now I’d bought a lower cost exotic and transmuted it.
Still, it happens I guess. Maybe it’ll get fixed in a patch.
Thanks for the reply!
Does it have a value listed at the bottom of the tooltip? I find that’s an indicator of whether it can be sold or not.
Anyone noticed this before? Anyone know what the status is?
Hi there, level 80 warrior just got a Mystic Rifle. It comes with a Superior Sigil of Blood which is supposed to steal health on critical hits 30% of the time.
However, it seems this is not the case when using a rifle. Indeed, the Wiki even states this as an anomaly for all 2-handed weapons. No matter how many criticals you deal it never activates.
Is this a known bug? Is there a way around it? Is it going to be fixed?
In this case I mean the ones you acquire from heart karma merchants or karma merchants you find scattered around.
As it is you get a karma item and it’s soulbound on use. You can’t see it, you can’t salvage or use it on your account. You basically have to destroy it when its replaced.
Surely we should be able to sell them to a merchant, even if we’re not allowed to use them for other account characters or sell them on the Trading Post.
Just wanted to post a follow up here and say I did as CookMETEnder suggested.
I got a full suit of Berserker armour, Mystic Rifle, soldier runes, and a mix of ruby and emerald trinkets.
The results have been astonishing! Complete reversal of fortunes, now I’m smacking PVE enemies around in a way I couldn’t before.
Thanks!
Thank you also to everyone else who posted, it helped me a lot!
I’m a big fan of GW2, but one thing that puzzles me is falling damage. Fall off a cliff or a roof and you take damage. Makes sense!
Jump off any height into water and you get nothing but wet! Now, studies have shown that falling onto water is not quite as lethal as onto solid rock, but it’s still extremely painful and can be fatal too if it’s high enough!
The diving goggles item you find at vistas should be an exception. Those are great, and it makes sense in world that they offer some sort of magical protection. But it seems strange I can jump from 3-400 feet onto water and just sink a bit as the only result.
So my suggestion would be to have falling damage into water when not using dive goggles be 1/2 to 1/3 of falling the same distance onto normal ground.
One annoying thing about GW1 was that there was no consistency across the skills. It put people at a disadvantage by making you go out to buy these skills from random places, or trying to capture them. It made trying to make a coherent build in PVE difficult, especially if you started characters in different campaigns.
Now they have a set series of skills that can be easily balanced for each weapon. It makes things easier for both player and developer.
There is a certain element of choice missing, but the balance and certainty it gives outweighs that.
What ascended gear should I aim to get?
Warrior, rifle primary, greatsword secondary (been advised to change to axe/shield) not got my level 80 armour/weapons yet, but looking at Knight or Berserker armour with Dolyak or Soldier runes.
I figured as much. I could see myself getting a succession of warhorns, maces and boots.
Thanks for the help!
Hi, hope this is the right place for this.
Has anyone spent 5 laurels on getting a gear box? Is it worth spending on?
I play a warrior which has just reached level 80 and am wondering if it’s worth using, or whether I should save up.
Thanks!
I’m a very bad player, a noob who has no idea what he’s doing in PVE…yet I find the dailies easy. You just have to work the system.
Ice wurms of all levels are easy to dodge, even with my terrible connection, because they have such a long warm up. It’s easy to get that part of the daily done in ten minutes or less. Dredge excavators also are easy.
Veterans are easy, just find that place in Queensdale with 5 veteran oakhearts. Events, just hang around Queensdale for a half hour and you’ll get it…or just quest normally. Healing, there’s plenty of death zones where NPCs are scattered and need reviving.
Usually takes me less than half hour a night to do the daily, and I’m not even very good!
Thanks so much for your detailed answer!
Yes, rifle is my primary.
I really only kept a melee option because I needed some crowd control. Rifle’s not good at that. Is longbow better in that area?
Axe and shield does sound good if not.
So berserker armour gives power, precision and critical damage – is that good for ranged? Will I have enough armour etc to absorb damage?
To be honest I don’t see myself playing much PVP or WVW for a while, so it’s mainly just PVE and probably dungeons too for now.
Thanks again!
Is toughness better than vitality? I’ve always been a bit confused because I could never tell how much it made a difference.
Knights does look good though.
Are there any better weapons than the Seraph stat wise which isn’t too expensive?
Hi there.
First time poster here. I’m not a very good player, and what I’ve done so far hasn’t been worked out at all with reference to builds and so on.
However, now I have finally got a character to level 80 I would like to try and customise my weapons and armour into the best form possible.
My character is a human rifle warrior with a greatsword as backup to fight mobs of enemies in melee. It’s probably not the best build…but I’ve had fun with it.
My traits are:
30 Arms – Deep Cuts/Crack Shot/Forceful Greatsword
20 Defence – Embrace the Pain/Last Stand
20 Tactics – Leg Specialist/Shrug it Off
My question is, what type of Draconic armour should I use?
Initially I was drawn to Carrion or Cleric, but I’m not sure what stats to prioritise.
For level 80 weapon I’m planning on getting the Seraph Rifle.
I am working towards getting the full 400 in armoursmithing as my only real crafting profession.
I’m a very casual player, usually only 1-2 hours a night due to work etc, so getting Tier 3 armour or legendary weapons is a bit beyond me.
Thanks in advance for your help!
