Like if I was chatting with 3 different people in whisper, I reply to the 3rd guy then I wanna go back and talk to the 1st guy who stopped whispering me half an hour ago… do I have to either: 1) go through the chat log and click on his name, 2) and/or type his name out (what if he was named something ridiculously long and complicated? You know those kinds of names exist), 3) and/or open up friendslist/guildlist and right click whisper?
This is frickin stupid. Why isn’t there a way just to toggle between all the people that I whispered? Or at least the last 5-10 that I whispered? Dam son! Something as basic as that should’ve been in the game day one.

With the last few pictures you’ve posted, I think part of the reason the chin looks longer in game is that her head is tilted slightly downward. In other words, in the CC she has her chin up. Look at the profile pics and you’ll see that the angle of the hair bun changes. In-game, hair bun is higher than the top of her head, in CC the top of her head is higher. Also the tip of her ears: in CC they line up with her eyebrow, in game they are higher than the eyebrow because her head has a slight downward tilt. It’s pretty subtle.
Yeah, I noticed that on the first couple of pictures. Though even with the subtle head tilt forward, it still seems to be a bit much and unnatural. Definitely a design flaw.

Oh oh, here’s a picture from the front (check adam’s apple on both and see how it’s visible on the editor, but no in-game):

OK so I fixed the settings and used SweetFX and colors etc, now it looks much better.
Now I ran into another issue. I bought the total-makeover kit by mistake, so I thought what the hell, now’s my chance to make an actual comparison.
What I found was that the face of my character was elongated in-game. If you look starting around the bottom lip down to the chin area, you can see how it does not match the character editor to the right (no, I have not made any changes whatsoever when I opened up the editor).
What say you people?
It is quite good, right up until you hit Orr.
My least favorite zone(s) in 15+ years of MMO gaming, by a long shot.
Actually, if you forget about the mobs and sit back and look at the scenery, it is still quite remarkable.
I did Cursed Shore for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a very nice area on the artistic side.
I second that. Coming from FFXIV’s massive repetitive maps, GW2 maps are definitely some of the most beautiful maps ever. Not just in a MMO, but in games in general.
I remember seeing that in TERA where characters would get a different hair-do depending on the armor they had on which is fantastic.
As for GW2….. I saw it at first with the witch hat and laughed pretty hard. It’s pathetic given how much love went into the design of the game just to be completely put off with something as simple as going bald when putting on a hat…
Something needs to be done about this because not only does it look ridiculous, but it basically renders a GOOD chunk of head pieces useless if no one is gonna show them. That is an insult to the artists.
I haven’t gone through all the replies so I don’t know if it was mentioned or not, but here’s the problem: (hint: it’s not with the guild system)
The game doesn’t have anything in it that REQUIRES a good group to complete. Anything can be half kittened and completed 90% of the time. That’s why you don’t see people who need to belong to guilds that can accomplish things that you otherwise can’t with pick up groups. Such a thing doesn’t exist.
I don’t know dude. I’ve played other MMOs before and I never wanted a female character. This game made me want to make one though. So I did, and I’m loving her.
Now I don’t roleplay or act like a female. So your point is moot. And no, don’t say you said “most dudes,” because you will have a good majority who will say otherwise.

I come from FFXI and FFXIV. The events in those two games look completely dull and half kittened compared to what they did here.
I would rate it impressed/10.
Take it as you will.
So the listing fee for whatever item you’re putting up is listed, yet the “projected profit” doesn’t indicate that. It’s more like:
Projected Profit = (what you’re selling the item for) – (listing fee * 2)
Can anyone clarify?
I’m serious. How are you guys getting better performance?
So I got it to work, but whoever was saying that it improves performance was completely wrong. If anything my FPS went down noticeably.
If anyone knows which settings need to be tweaked to get a better performance, by all means, let me know.
Well, I am still having an issue getting this to work. I can not even get the standard SMAA injector to work. I know all I have to do is simply place the files into the GW2 directory, then run the program as admin. When doing so, I can change settings to sepia and see no difference upon refreshing the mod.
Really frustrating to have it not work, for no real apparent reason. I can even run the game without admin with the items placed in there, and it does not crash. It is not even attempting to load the injector =[
The same exact thing is happening to me too. I can run it normally with all the stuff there and the game does not crash.
This is not working for me.
These are my settings after a few days of changing. This is really the sweet spot for me,my game looks incredible.I suffered from too much red,and too much colours etc,the way ive set it up now is just ffing perfect.Note they might seem different for you depending on your monitor type.I have SMAA disabled and still use the ingame’s FXAA,when having FXAA enabled i find the shadows are looking a bit better especially around plants and such and luma makes the game sharp enough, you really don’t want to overdo it.SMAA makes Guild wars 2 way to sharp when having Luma enabled aswell, imo.

See for example those settings don’t match my SweetFX_settings.txt file. Mine are in this order:
SMAA Antialiasing
Lumasharpen
Boom
HDR
Technicolor
Tonemap
Vibrance
Sepia
Vignette
Dither
So I don’t know if I have the same files as the rest of you.
Yep, I even tried mokaiba’s settings and nothing has changed.
You turned off FXAA in the F11 graphics settings panel, right?
Yes, the one in the in game options menu.
Yep, I even tried mokaiba’s settings and nothing has changed.
Where do you guys get all the different settings from?
I guess the real question is: are the default settings enough to see a difference? Because I see zero difference.

Please. I knew that was the first thing that was going to be said. Here you go naysayers:

I had so much trouble creating a character appearance that I felt satisfied with.
I was sifting through screenshots and ran into the one on the left and remembered that I took that to compare it to the ingame one.
The problem is that when you are done creating your character, there’s a good chance it will not look the same ingame. This had me repeatedly creating a character, start the game, then delete it because something was “off” that changes what I was going for.
I stopped that vicious cycle after I finally realized what’s going on. Here, have a look:

Here’s another screen shot that has them side by side. You won’t need me to tell you which is which. :o
That would make sense if there was actual variety in the stats of the weapons that drop. There are limited amount of combos of stats you can have with the way the system has been designed that making useful random loot drop is technically impossible.
You don’t have the random stat generated items found in Diablo III and Borderlands 2.
I don’t see why Anet can’t change it up with upcoming expansions… You guys are playing what we would see as a “bare bones” game after they release new expansions in the coming years.
Patience my friends… patience. Hell at least what we have now is actually a LOT compared to MMOs that first released… I know for a fact TERA, FFXI, FFXIV, SWTOR, and Rift didn’t have this much content when they first released.

Basically I find it unrewarding/pointless to team up/tag along with a friend when I have a map already 100% completed aside from getting the uncommon chests found randomly in maps.
All I’m asking for is a feature where you can reset any map you’ve already completed back to 0% so it feels rewarding when playing with a friend and rediscovering it again because getting loot and exp from mobs only isn’t enough. Also scale the rewards when completing a lower level map to my appropriate level.
If I choose to re-discover a map, then let me!
(edited by Ayan.1750)
Seriously? No one noticed this?
And no, it’s not my connection. I’d be on another map and everything is super responsive etc. When I go to Plains of Ashford, my input is delayed close to one second easily.
Same problem here as well.
