why even play?

picked up the game went pretty well apart from the fact 5 of my 10 losses are due to it being 4v5 or 3v5 any idea when you’ll start punishing people who do this?

for me as someone who has tried to pick the game up and play it it after a break this pretty much makes me not want to even play when you go on a 8 game streak then tank rating because some kitten decides not to join the game but que up

To be fair you’re comparing a game with 2 million copies to a game with games like WoW at 10million, Starcraft somewhere around 6 million, and LoL with god knows how many players.

Smite has under 1mil players and gets over 10x the views on every media outlet than GW2 with half the promotion.

If the whole world had that attitude we’d all still be settled in Europe, riding horses and dying at the age of 45. Guild Wars 2 still have a possibilty to be an Esport. We have customs, we have spectators, we have willing streamers, youtubers, skilled PvPers, it CAN HAPPEN. A lot of top tier teams are comming back to pvp with the new patch. No one makes youtube videos which get over 2k views right now, no one streams with over 200 views max,NO ONE cares about gw2 pvp except the few people who just fail to accept the game was a flop pvp wise. 1 Player made tournament means nothing at all and it’s stream will fetch a max of 300 viewers with 0 prize pool or almost nothing and 13 random teams signing up from a game of 3million sales means nothing at all.

Trust me on this GW2 failed big time. Sorry if me being honest will upset you but there is 0 chance. Look at smite and what they did in BETA and they are still only a tiny e-sport. Anyone serious or decent in this game quit a long long time ago, the only people playing hardcore now seriously are deluded and should just play causal and wait for Wildstar to come out or pick up a e-sport title instead of wasting time on GW2.

Reason the system is so horrible is because no one wants to Spvp because there is no incentive.

New hammer warrior build out – This build is pretty much based on setting up your earth shaker with frenzy for huge burst with auto hits. A welcome change for me since i hated the GS playstyle.

The point is to have competitive matches. If you are so good that you beat every other solo group. Then yeah you should have at least a reasonable shot at beating the lower tier premades.

You wanna test that theory of yours? I’ll go ahead and grab some rank20s that are all on builds that they’ve been given from myself and my team (believe me, plenty of these premades are getting their builds from the toptiers copypaste style), put them all on ts while mixing you up with a group of r20rs that don’t have a team composition at all or any preset roles or anything similiar to that and then telling you to carry?

I’ve been in situations like that and those games are hardly easy to carry. Do you think one strong player will make up for four weak unsynced notonts players in a major teamfight? Obviously not, not unless I’m on teamspeak with them calling important stuff. So what is your solution? Splitting and 1v1ing their point defender? If you know anything in this meta at all you know that the standard solution to someone 1v1ing your point is to call the thief to your close point.

You guys have a severe lack of understanding if you think it’s easy to carry randoms vs premades in a game like this. This isnt league of legends, I can’t outplay the top laner to the massive extent where I get fed and 1v2 the top laner and the jungler. This is a game without snowballing.

You guys seriously took the normal game mode of league of legends, the least form of competitive play in league and made that your serious matchmaking mode.

What extra development time?! THE SYSTEM IS IN PLACE! It’s not hard to solve this puzzle, I’ll give you the pieces:
You have two separate tourny ques at this moment. One for 3 round and one for 1 round. In a blog post you guys said that they had separate matchmaking. Paid tournaments previously demonstrated that you guys have the ’’feature’’ in place to force someone to be 5 premade players to que in to the match. You also now have a ‘’join solo’’ button.

If you piece these pieces together you get:

1.Make one tournament que ‘’join solo’’ only, 1 round
2. Make the other que ‘’submit roster’’ with 5 only , 1 round

LE VOILA!
It’s okay, we can scrap the idea of duoq for now. Put that in your ’’soon’’ basket. You can do the same for the random map generator, just keep rotating maps manually the way you guys do every 2 days or something.

There. That is the solution that will allow solo players to play the game without getting stomped by teams.

Hit the nail on the head please listen to helseth before you end up losing more top level players. You’re literally killing your own game by ignoring the top tier players.

What is sad is that you wont get a response from the Devs on this, yet this is the biggest thing holding pvp back for GW2 both in the long term and the short term. People need a reason to play. Yet we’ve gone another month without any form of tangible ranking system.

So Vonethil is 100% right.

Why should the competive gamer (who spends significantly more time in GW2 than anyone else) actually sign in tommorow? Why should the top teams put countless hours into the game each week if their efforts wont actually pay off?

this game is still in its infancy and from what i can see, the devs are consistently working on improving the game. Paid tournies didnt really work due to long q times etc, so they changed it. If ratings being invisible becomes an issue, they will change it. it is day ONE of the ratings and matchmaking system, a new interesting map and a better solo q function.

You’re just another super casual player who doesn’t care about it as long as he can join hotjoin and play his cookie cutter build and get top of the scoreboard most likely. Please note this is not aimed as a insult but more just a fact that casual players don’t care about the real issues with pvp while alot of us who aimed at playing the game at a competitive level have been let down by false promises.

They did almost nothing this patch except add another random map which wasn’t needed to progress the game pvp wise. This game is getting the blizz treatment (Pve first PvP way way way way way later) I also like how you used going to play wow as a insult when in reality wow is 20x the competitive game Gw2 is atm which is a really sad in reality.

At least on WoW i can log on and play a team to glad and know i’m decent unlike in Gw2 i have nothing to log on for no real way to even compare myself to anyone.

You added a sort of matchmaking system why not show it. I don’t understand, if you would just add proper rating and ladders (which don’t take that long lets be honest) you wouldn’t be losing people the dedicated people who played 8 hours a day for months and months.

You’re game is dieing because there is NO POINT in playing it, NO COMPETITION NO LADDER NO WAY TO SEE YOU WHERE YOU STAND.

Game is pretty much dead no matter how many “Pve” players you bring in to test out your new map, what is funny is that games with no real interest in esports have ladders (Tera :S) while for some reason the devs at Anet can’t seem to grasp the basic fact that people need something to aim for not some kittenty QP system. Just add in a ladder and visible rating so people can actually play and aim for something.

It’s sad because i invested alot of time (just like a ton of others) into the game and Anet have pretty much screwed their chance of a popular pvp game up. Whats hilarious is i know a few of the top QP players who are either quitting or are trying to sell their accounts because even they after idk 4k+tournaments have realized this game won’t go no where if the devs can’t even add a ladder in but can create a pretty new map.

Removing your horrible joke of a QP ladder/System and adding in nothing at all is not a step forward you do understand that right?

New video with the focus on guardian burst/blocking with huge symbol damage and healing. Really fun build to play and pretty good.

Play tera tbh it’s how most people expected GW2 to turn out. 3s/Ranked BGs + proper ability avoidance and spell/attack targeting with a crosshair + No downed state (after playing WoW/Tera again for awhile i finally realized how stupid downstate in MMO PvP is, it has 0 place in a game like GW2 or any MMO for that matter. Kind of pointless even logging on GW2 at this point unless for idk super casual play with the state it’s in and i doubt some “magic” feb patch will change anything tbh.

Erm i’m actually unsure though i think it’s when you take bleeding damage now that i have looked proper into it. A mistake by me but tbh the tooltips are so bad it’s easy to get mistake sometimes. Sorry about that.

Sad to say it but GW2 PvP died a long time ago. :S It’s a shame such a great game is being kitten on I don’t know what world the devs must be in to actually believe they could lead the community on for this long before the game is gone beyond the point of repair lol.

Played the crap out of Gw2 for a few months but now fully understand that this game won’t go no where with the way they have crapped all over the community.

I kind of quit gw2 after playing it for around 5-6 hours a day in the hope that one day it would become a e-sport or the devs would stop messing about and actually listen to the community around 3weeks ago. I did however login yesterday to check how the mists/game was feeling (wondering if anything had been added) , to my surprise there was a huge kitten pve patch but once again nothing what at all for pvp.

I’m not trying to be a dick but Anet you shipped this game as a pvp/esport game and months after release all we have heard is “Sometime in the next few months we will do a pvp patch which will START adding esport/pvp features”.

Paids are stale and it’s only the same 3-4teams winning them or even getting last round. No spec client no actual ladder or support no way of supporting the community (pvp side hell you love the pve side) so i’m curious what is your actual plan with this game.

The people who spent so much time playing it in the hope you would do something with it and just got kitten on are abit annoyed and tbh i know so many excellent players who just quit because you enforced A. Such a stupid meta B. Ignored anything real pvp players said and just carried on adding huge pve themed content patches with kitten all for people who pvp.

So i’m wondering whats the ETA on actual e-sport features all of them (the ones needed) not just the “Start”. When will this game actually be out of beta stage because atm it pretty much is, i mean nothing has been added since beta weekends pretty much. I would like to keep playing the game but atm it’s so unplayable and it’s like pointless to even try play it.

You are deluding yourself if you actually think this game hasn’t died/is in serious decline, maybe not pve wise for pvp wise it’s long gone the time when this game could have been a “big” esport hell you will be lucky if this game even makes it as a niche one with the small amount of people pvping in it. More people seem to be doing that snowball pvp crap than actual Tpvp which explains alot.

Sorry if i sound like a dick but after putting so much time into a dead cause and promoting the kitten out of the game /helping people out with it telling people it’s the next big thing and then realizing it’s basically bloodline champions with pve i’m a tiny bit annoyed.

Tbh the time for a ladder or atleast some sort of ranking is now or maybe 1-2 weeks ago.
Most of my team mates/people i know from other e-sport teams/guilds are getting super bored.

So far i have played around 400 tourn games and maybe 10 of them were a challenge and 30 of them vs people who were in a premade group.
I love GW2 and i love the way a-net is doing things but the community does need some way to be competitive because it’s going to die out as soon as mists comes without legitimate competition for people to take part in.

Just my thoughts…
