D/D and P/D Thiefs are insanely powerful leveling up, and not too shabby at 80. P/D for the 1v1 and D/D for multiple mobs.
Not sure what other class can solo Champions and easily handle multiple Veterans.
If you can afford it, grab some Pizzas for your food.
Off topic, but so far I have been able to solo champs or multiple vets with my thief (given), mesmer, necromancer, ranger and warrior. It isn’t hard. Kite melee and LoS ranged.
It works like mesmer blink. The skill has to be able to trace a line that would not require jumping that is still inside the proper range (900). Otherwise what happens in that video is the result.

Whilst I agree with this statement fundamentally, I have problems with it’s connotations. Combined with another market cliche: that constant effort is required to stay on top of the market, the connotation is that if you aren’t constantly working the market, then you are at fault and are not keeping up with inflation.
You are correct. That is a far better way to state that.
Really at that level there are few choices. What you have now is just fine.
For your secondary I would go with bow. You have a poison combo field + blast finisher which means AoE weakness. Also, if you get good with the 2 skill you can consistently apply 4 bleeds in an AoE. P/P is really just for unload spam (not condition) and P/D is best for CnD into the stealth skill on 1. That requires melee though and does nto work without some initiative regeneration you get down the road. Honestly the best thing you can do is make sure you have gear around your level and keep at it.
The two biggest rules of playing the trading post for profit:
1.) Don’t invest all your gold in the same thing/area.
2.) Gold sitting in your inventory is gold that is not working to increase it’s value.
Snow leopard grants you the ability to escape pretty much anyone in WvWvW. Pop it, stealth, untargeted charge. Goes further than RtL and I believe you can get it off twice per elite use. Shame to have to use an elite slot to do it though.

This is a standard bunker build at the moment. Use shaman’s gear and either sigil of bloodlust/life/battle (for longbow)/blood. You put 30 points in BM for a few reasons.
1.) Natural healing – this is not the best talent but since the 25 point minor is essential in a ranger bunker build having more regeneration is an amazing tool for only 5 more points.
2.) Stat bonus – Every point in BM gives your pet +10 in all base stats (power/pre/tough/vit). That alone is 14% crit at level 80. Not to mention 3k HP, more armor, etc.
3.) Nature’s wrath – 10% of your healing power into power is amazing. On average this nets you another 120 power. Additionally when traiting for a bunker build that is heavy on heals you want to build more for toughness than for vit since as you take less damage from attacks, you healing is still the same and heals for proportionally more.
4.) 16sec pet swap – This minor talent (in addition making you pet safer) gives you 20% more quickness than just taking the first talent. Well worth it and it is the reason rangers have access to so much more quickness than any other class in the game.
The reason you do not spec heavily into nature magic is simple: the return for the trait points you get is terrible past the first 10. All you need is a full set of dwayna’s and you have pretty much 100% regen uptime in an AoE. The condition removal rangers have is terrible beyond healing spring. Coupled with a bit of vigor on every pulse of healing spring and natural 50% increased endurance regen you have insane protection uptime. With sword/dagger equipped is just gets even crazier as that weapon combo has 3 evades on it.
Essentially as a bunker ranger you heal through the damage while keeping your pet alive. With the healing at our disposal and the evasion we have it is difficult to down us and the pet does all the work.
I would go Precision with, Stat’s from Power Items. Use your Precision Trait line try to have at least 50% critical chance.
I’ve been building my ranger to hit like a mac truck while keeping a good tank and its pretty easy to do.
OP, if you want to hit like a truck just go full berserker’s gear. Be aware you will be easily killed by basically anything.

Retaliation is a rare boon all things considered. Perhaps they had it when you were on your ranger and didn’t when you were on your ele.
As far as I know rangers have no boon removal whatsoever.

I just do not like them because I use guides that take such things into account. They do make somewhat of a difference in the long run, but the guides make them primarily obsolete.
I didn’t specify, but I did put my pet on passive mode. But if he is attacked he always retaliates and puts you in combat.
This is a bug, then. My pet on passive won’t attack unless I command it to – it never retaliates on passive.
This is the same for me as well, are you sure you had your pet on passive and didn’t just hit F3?

I can confirm that pet in combat doesnt make you drop the bomb, just makes you run slower. Did this jumping puzzle last week.
The run slower is the complaint. Never said it makes you drop the bomb.

So just got 100% completion on Lornar’s Pass and I went to do the jumping puzzle. In order to get the chest at the end you need to carry a bomb and avoid combat while finishing the puzzle in 3 minutes. This relies on not getting in combat with the griffons that are all over the puzzle and make up the primary challenge.
The problem with this as a ranger is that any time you enter combat you pet comes out. When you fall and take damage you enter combat for a split second and your pet comes out. When you dodge a griffon since the pet can’t dodge you get stuck in combat and slowed. This makes the entire thing ridiculous and I cannot see this as being intended.
I think they are fine as is. Boosters are pretty nice across the board with the exception of crafting boosters. Even for an 80 you can use them whenever you are doing content so you can get SP faster for an eventual legendary.
Black lion harvester implements…why don’t you like them? Save you a few silver and that adds up.

To be fair, if it was a bag of 74 copper coins, some would consider that a large bag of coins.
Personally speaking I would swap out one or both of your cats for wolves. Not as much damage, but their howls usually are pretty amazing, and every canine has a knockdown that they usually use right when the come out and are under quickness. Granted there is a 45 sec CD on it, but it still helps a great deal.
Maybe I am just a bit confused here but everyone knows that the word ranger is not indicative of the combat style of choice, but rather means one who ranges? Or one who explores/travels?

I have to admit that I understand not as much as I would like to pretend about much that was discussed. However if you had some free time I would appreciate it.
Salvage white loot, sell blue loot, check the AH to see if green loot is worth selling there, otherwise sell it to the vendor too.
Upgrade your armor every ten levels (at most) starting at level 11.
Starting at level 23, save any skillpoints you get so you have 10 upon reaching 30 and can get an elite skill.
Good evening everyone. Making this post after some disappointments with the games and was hoping to hear the viewpoints of others.
A little background about my experience so far: it has actually been mostly positive. I just now settled on a main after having the game from launch. I leveled a necro and thief to the mid 60s, and a mesmer to 80. Stopped playing them because they were not my personal style, picked up a ranger and loved it.
Ultimately mid level PvE is terrible. By design or luck the content is all either completely free of a challenge or so geared towards having a group that it is in most cases impossible for the player to attempt. In addition there are multiple bugs that still haunt zones which make them a shadow of what they should be (Godlost Swamp in Queensdale).
I am a PvE kind of person. I enjoy PvP to, but I tend not to get to it until after the game has had a chance to mature for awhile. I feel like I am being punished for having no group in a game that wants you to be able to go out solo into the world and not regret your lack of group. Even if I wanted a group to party with map chat is dead, the people I run into are primarily bots, and after being in 7 guilds since launch that all went dead my hope of enjoying PvE fully is dying slowly but surely.
What led me to make this post was an adventure in Snowden Drifts. I found some snow trolls on a hill and started fighting to the top to see what was going on. The trolls themselves were challenging but manageable. I got to the top of the hill to find their leader. He had an instacast 5 second freeze, aggro’d 6 other trolls when you aggro’d him, and those 6 trolls were on a ~20 respawn timer. My pleas in map chat for anyone to group with were ignored, my current guild went dead about a week back, and all my attempts at soloing him were unsuccessful. If you want someone to enjoy PvE and not ragequit each time he finds an area he wants to explore guarded by a champion then this is how you do it:
1.) Remove any mechanics that the player cannot avoid or mitigate (instacast AoE freeze and ridiculous mob respawn time/aggro range)
2.) Give the boss multiple attacks that are bad to get hit by, but not instantly fatal (similar to ettins gaining might upon hitting with one of their skills)
They do not as of a few days ago. The best way to check is to turn on the countdown numbers on your skills (so it displays how much time until the skill is off CD). Phase retreat and iWarlock both only benefit from either the 20% CD reduc from the illusion tree minor or the staff 20% reduction, not both.
Bumping this. The last 2 days I have been unable to buy, sell, or view my transactions. The others tabs work just fine. Restarting the game does not alleviate the problem.
Take this with a grain of salt as I am only level 56.
As a power necro I can say in this game so far even among all my other characters I have not felt as kitten as with my necro. Nothing kills you. Nothing. Between my conventional heals and my abilities that replenish Death Shroud the sheer amount of punishment I can withstand is astounding. I solo champs, run into groups that makes others hold back, and I fear no mob yet because I know if I play smart I can take on most content solo.
Btw, Ive seen a lot of people crying because they didnt get precursos from chests and they really wanted. Well, those sound like spoiled kids to me. Random is suposed to be random. I have no complaints about the rewards (even though the best piece Ive got was worth less than 5g). The chest had epics and rares, which is better than 95% of the game content, that rewards loads of crap. Well, I would like to get a precursor, but wont cry because I didnt. I got 2 epics (4 if you count the bag and the karka jewel), a lvl 78 shield and a lvl 80 helm. That was good enough for me, even though the event was ultra boring.
And a fair number of us are crying because we were unable to fully participate in the event. Not due to not being able to be there or an ineptitude of our own, but because on day 1 the lag was bad enough that we could not function, day 2 was glitched so we could not complete the event, and day 3 right before the stunning conclusion of the event we were kicked and didn’t even have good memories of the end to take away from it.
Seconded. A similar event happened to me on an overflow server. 2 hours wasted.
Ditto. Got a server time out as we were killing the flame vents. 2 hours of enduring the lag and such wasted. Will there be any way to make this up? I am relogging over and over to get an overflow it isnt done, but no luck.
