I’ve been a necro main since release, and it’s always been frustrating.
Even in light of the recent progress our class has made, people still dismiss us as nothing. It’s absolutely horrifying to try and find groups outside of my guild half of the time because people think necros are weak…which we’re not.
It could just be the quality of people I’m finding, but when we’re running TA and -I- end up being the only one alive over guards and warriors who claim they’re oh-so-powerful…uh…obviously I know what I’m doing and how to handle my own.
I dunno, I love this class to death and I have no intentions of changing, but it just reminds me of GW1 when assassins were released and everyone hated them because no one knew how to use them.
I think there’s a difference, too, in the kinds of minions Zhaitan has in his arsenal. In the quest that you’re talking about, it’s kind of implied that only the more horrific creations of Zhaitan’s are made at this ossuary, particulary at the beginning of the quest when you have to slay the surgeons on the ritual platform so that Trahearne can begin his own ritual thing.
I think for the most part the regular minions— like what you see roaming around Orr usually— are created through Zhaitan’s corruption, not by patchwork at the ossuary.
@evolverzilla
The fact that he was chained goes to show how strong he must have been, and how unrealistically stronger the heroes who beat him were. Actually, Kormir is the only one really ‘blessed’ or ‘ascended’. Elona doesn’t ever have a real ascension equivalent like Tyria and Cantha.
If you remember the mission where they attempt to rally the gods, Lyssa’s muse pretty much tells them there’s nothing they can do for them. In fact, Kormir goes on a whole rant about how they can beat Abaddon without the help of the Tyrian gods. The only thing that happens is they cryptically tell Kormir she can absorb Abaddon when they kill him…but that’s about it.
I suppose the only arguement then is that his army was thinned and they destroyed the dam of souls, but a thinned army wouldn’t nessecarily diminish someone’s individual power— especially a god. The dam is literally probably the only thing they did to weaken Abaddon, and I’m not sure this affected his physical power, I believe it was an affect on his influence in the physical plane. ((This is all from personal in game experience, so if you have other sources that say otherwise, feel free to correct me. Heck, for all I know I have the information wrong. It’s been awhile since I’ve played gw1))
All of this doesn’t really matter though, because I’m agreeing that Abaddon is stronger. :]

Lore wise, I think Abbadon was definitely stronger. Honestly, you see about the same amount of destruction in Tyria across all five dragons as you did in Elona with just one corrupted god— if not more. On the other hand a small group of adventurers was able to destroy Abbadon without much difficulty, ((story spoilers following))
wheras Zhaitan couldn’t even be fought point blanc with a group. You had to attack him with this massive fleet of all of the races, and even then it was the mega laser that killed him, not anything you did.
So…I dunno the correct answer really, haha.
The jumping puzzles are honestly my favorite addition from this weekend…everything else is kinda…meh.
It took me awhile to get the hang of the skipping stones puzzle, but it’s honestly my favorite one to date. :]
The young Karka can swim, at least. I was personally chased by one underwater this weekend. I don’t know about the older species.
Except that’s Canthan history, not Tyrian. Unless Tyrians claim that as their own, which I’m not sure any do.
I said something about this when the event was first unveiled. It makes no sense to me why they added a new map that doesn’t mimic the same system as the rest of Tyria. If it’s a permanent addition, it should act like it. :P
It should have hearts and vistas and skill points, or— at the very least— something that keeps track of the POI’s and whatnot like every other map in the game.
