WvW players need a War Supply Track that replaces the Boxes 5, 15, 25, 35 & 40 from the Hero Weapon track with Greater Boxes of War supplies (2 Supply Sacks, 1 random T6 fine mat, one Exotic backpack, 20 Badges of Honour + 2 Clovers for the final box)
I like this idea too.
The issue I have with flax requirements is that they don’t scale, either in requirements or cost, relative to the objective they upgrade.
For example Dolyak upgrades take 2 linen sacks (24 fibers), making then the most expensive upgrade with their other mats (at the time of calculating), to go into the least defendable objective, which in worst case can get flipped before the upgrade even activates.
Other upgrades, like emergency WP, only require 12 fibers, are cheaper and arguably far more useful, and usually sit inside a keep where you’re going to get your money’s worth.
My suggestion would be dropping the requirement of fibre to make a linen sack to around 4, and then tweaking the number of sacks required for the shimmering energy bags, so the cost of the upgrade better fits it’s use – i.e. the ones that should be expensive and sit in place for many hours stay that way, while the ones you need to use a lot of don’t bankrupt the guild.

Anet did a good job of adjusting costs for upgrades and such, except for flax fibers. 12 of these needed to make a linen sack, which is needed for almost every WvW upgrade – and a lot of the decent ones require two, so that’s over 3g before including other mats.
I understand it for upgrades for keeps, and perhaps towers, which are easily defensible, but for camps, 3g+ per upgrade on an objective easily flipped deters a lot of these upgrades being used much.
Perhaps that’s the intention (Speedy dollies is kitten nice), but it would be great if Anet could take a look at some of the flax fiber requirements on some of the upgrades and see if the cost/usage is in line with what was intended.
Thank you, this is a great change and one I feared wouldn’t happen. I’m delighted to be proved wrong, gg ^^
+1 for Fridays.
I honestly tried to ‘settle’ with Saturdays as the new reset, but it’s too close to Monday, so switched back to tagging on a Friday for our end of the week blow out. At the moment neither Fridays or Saturdays are as good as they used to be (Ktrain on Friday and Saturday, Saturday nights just don’t have that end of the week Friday Feeling). I would love this switched back to get the weekend WvW as it used to be.
1. Change reset back to Friday night.
2. Restore stability (or other change) to mitigate the excessive CC now in WvW.
3. Simplify the DBL so guilds/zergs/roamers can run more directly from A to B, the maze is keeping opponents too far apart and reducing fights.
4. Remove the shrines, they’re just irritating – I haven’t heard or read anyone say how much they love them (though I’m sure someone will now ^^).
5. Change the areas around camps and put them closer to spawn – we used to have glorious and epic fights around the camps. They were made for it, like mini arenas with entrances/exits, lots of space and slopes. Great for guild fights, and great for roamers looking for a fight. Not had a single decent camp fight on DBL, and I’ve spent most of my time in them since HoT.

I’ve gone back to tagging on Friday nights, reset or not – Saturdays are just no good for me. We get home from work, kick back and Monday is far enough away not to worry about. Saturday resets have sometimes been a bit meh, people log earlier because they don’t want to be wrecked for Monday, have things to do on Sunday or just can’t make it. Half the weekend is now just ktrain.
Would love Anet to change this back.
+1 for Friday reset
Saturday isn’t the same, during the day or for reset. We don’t get the same turnout, and people log out a lot earlier – most have work/school on Monday.
This is a hideous change. The diversity of WvW, roaming, zergs, guilds of all sizes, is one of the things that seperated WvW from EoTM, and made it alive.
Our roamers and small havoc squads need support, and they need to have fun and be able to do what they do, they’re a vital part of the WvW community and what makes it so rich.
I say this as someone who doesn’t roam or scout, not having +5 for some weeks is an inconvenience but a not a game breaker for me – but I don’t want to lose the diverse gameplay and the playstyles, and most importantly the community it creates, from our BLs.
Please rethink this.
The ‘review’ is very non-commital, I don’t believe Anet has any intention of changing it back. That, and the offering up of something even worse, is throwing us a bone to get us to accept it. Give it a few weeks, and who will still be arguing for a return to Fri reset? Those it kills the game for will just stop logging in and drift off, and Saturday will stay. Anet will have their increasingly casual WvW, with stealth fountains, golem events and gimmicks that destroy the game mode for those that truly love open world, large scale pvp.
For the record, I have never asked for any change – all I want from a game is a balanced environment, with objectives, to pit my wits against our opponents and enjoy being part of a team where the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts. I was truly impressed with the design and mechanics of the BL and this game mode when it launched, it had clearly been designed and put together with a lot of experience and love for this game mode.
The way this has been handled, even more than the change, gives me the most concern. This is a big change to our WvW culture, and it was landed on us with no explaination a week before release. No-one to my knowledge has ever asked for this to be changed. Thoughtfulness goes both ways, and this is extremely poor customer service that doesn’t bode well for the future of WvW.
For all the reasons listed by others Friday is my favorite night of the week, and I have popped a blue tag on all but a handful in the last 2 years. Without it, I will care less about WvW, and if I don’t care, there’s no incentive to play. I’m waiting for a firm commitment from Anet to change it back to Fridays on a set date, before I make a firm commitment to continue playing this game. I’m not hopeful ^^

Making a rare post to add my voice to the ‘Please don’t change reset time’ crowd.
Change it for launch, by all means, but please not permanently.
Weekends will not be the same or as fun, I for one will be playing less and will not be able to play as late/make as many resets if it’s changed to Saturday.

Good job to DL, your persistance is amazing, and the win deserved imo – you clearly have superb leadership as most of your WvW force is community rather than guilds, and that community doesn’t mind scouting, building seige, and doing all the small things that count as much as the big fights.
Thanks for a rollercoaster of a week, and making us up our game
Bt War are a guild that have earned my respect. They do the dull stuff like repairing gates and defending camps (unlike some native Surmian commanders who order – not ask – ‘pugs’ or smaller guilds to do it while they go off and do something More Important), and their response time on defending our T3 keeps is sick. They have been nothing but polite and respectful, working with other commanders, even while getting a lot of hostility and hate in map chat. If people can’t see what BT War bring to Surmia, they’re perhaps spending too much time listening to the negative hypocritical whiners on the server and not enough time thinking for themselves and being their own man.
To be honest I’m embarrassed to be part of the Surmia ‘community’ right now, and lost respect for quite a few people. I’ve heard a lot of crying about how bandwagons destroy the server, and in some cases it’s true, but not all. Perhaps it’s the server, and not the bandwagon, that’s the problem. I’m not surprised at all that guilds that come to Surmia leave within a few months, given the outright hostility and elitism they have to endure.
There are good people, good commanders, and good guilds newly arrived on Surmia. Encourage the good ones to stay, while waiting for the bad ones to leave. We will never be able to control new guilds and people coming to the server, it will always happen; the only thing in our control is our response to it.
Time to man up imo. Stop being a victim of bandwagons and learn to take the best of it.
Hey Guys and Hello Ruins of Surmia.
We are new to RoS and transfered from Fissure of Woe. Maybe you noticed us already [RoT] Reavers of Time. We are very happy and looking forward to work with you Guys together.
As a quick Intro, here is our first WvW Movie, I hope you Guys enjoy it:
Best regards, Jack
Welcome to RoS. Seen you guys quite a bit in WvW, you seem pretty organised
I transferred here from SFR several months ago and found a home. Hope you guys do too.
Is this RoS his idea of fun?
Please just head round the back when people do this to you guys (as you just did to take Mendon’s). People are bored and venting a bit from being the stompers for a change I guess, but there are many of us who wouldn’t take part in this.
Yea we were gutted! We’d carefully built the golems, then left the map for a while to lose the outmanned buff, and got back later to find AS had pulled you all to the map :p We were short on time so decided to have a pop anyway, then one of your commanders fell into the water right in the middle of us… ach well, timing is everything, and we ran out of it ^^

2) After doing this, one of the support technicians suggested I try using a proxy service; I used WTFast at their suggestion, and this eliminated all the problems I was having connecting to, and playing, WvW during peak hours.
I downloaded and tried this today, and I’ve had the best connection I’ve ever had with WvW. Big fights that used to lag a little even before the patch were completely lag free. Loved it! Maybe one day isn’t enough to say it’s absolutely fixed, but thankyouthankyou for posting this suggestion. Fingers crossed it stays this way, and I will be gaming with this from now on.

Thanks Ashley
The problem seems to be getting worse, and I’m not sure if the logs help. I can PvE without any problems, but nearly all the time I try to WvW, either the loading screen stays forever, or the packet loss is so severe that skills and interactions can take up to 5 minutes to happen. I’m lucky to get any WvW time at all, and I don’t do PvE much
I’m having this exact problem, WvW is unplayable and getting worse – repeatedly hanging at loading screens, long periods of skill lag and unable to interact with the environment, rubber banding so much I can’t move at all. WvW is all I play, so this is gamebreaking at the moment

I really hope this is a troll.
It all sounds very reasonable, but I can only wonder what tier you’re on and what groups you’re going up against. You’re describing mechanics against mindless enemies who appear not to use any CC and obligingly wait while people re-group and heal, while no-one contaminates the field. When a water field goes off in the right place at the right time, and gets the ‘4+’ blasts you’re describing, it is rewarding and so it should be for that level of co-ordination. In reality this is not the standard state of play however, it’s more luck than skill in higher tiers with lag, and against opponents who know what they’re doing it’s extremely difficult to accomplish.
Your arguments are based on numbers and theory that bear no relation to the reality of gameplay. You claim to play a staff ele, and want to nerf your own class? Seems a little suspect to me if I’m honest.
Thanks to Dz this afternoon for an epic defense at Bay, you guys clearly had organised supply runs, and were relentless in defending. The most tenacious defense I’ve seen, it was superb. /Salute
Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
The weekends were messing up my sleeping patterns into the middle of the week, really appreciated.

An earlier reset will get more players involved in one of the most fun parts of WvW. Happier customers = more revenue for Anet, and better longevity for the game. It may inconvenience a nocturnal minority, but I think the numbers in the EU who are inconvenienced with it being in the small hours of the morning is way greater.
Totally agree, please change this. I can’t see any reason why it should be so late, and Anet would gain a lot of happy customers by moving it forward.
Same issue here as well, if it’s any help, this started just after I joined a fair sized guild four days ago – up until then no problems whatsoever. So far it has only happens in the evenings when the server is busier, but it’s crippling for any team play. I’m getting to the point I won’t team, chat or /w friends as I can’t rely on chat being up.
There are two other threads on this I can find, if anyone has a fix, please post.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/No-chat-friendslist-unknown-network-error
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Chat-contacts-not-working/first#post1250581
Also having the same issue, it started last night and I’ve gone through the usual steps which usually fix problems (rebooting, checking ports etc). Very annoying, as I have no idea if people are trying to speak to me. I confirmed with a friend that he can see what I’m typing and is responding, but I don’t see any of it – large chunks of chat (guild and /w) are invisible more often than not.
