I want to buy this game for a friend because he is being an kitten and won’t buy it himself. I just want to buy a digital copy for him and gift it to him. Do we have the option to do this?

I would normally just walk over to Walmart or Target or whatever and just hand him a physical copy but he lives in Texas and I ain’t paying for shipping.

“Our elites are so much better than any of the warrior elites,” – Said no elementalist, ever.

I’d kill for the ability to summon flaming greatswords that shoot fire, turn into a whirlwind, or just plain summon a buddy in general.

Once again it is not that the skills suck but rather that they’re boring as all hell.

Its not that the Elite skills are useless, but they’re just plain boring compared to every other profession. It wouldn’t be so bad if Juggernaut did what it says and actually turns me into a massive Juggernaut instead of me just dropping my weapons and duking it out. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rampage

You know what Areanet, Sorrow’s Embrace story mode is hellish and long and just not very fun at all, but that last boss just made my kitten day. Totally worth trying to get a party for 3 days for it.

No one wants to do Sorrow's Embrace story mode.

I can guess as to why, but no one wants to do Sorrow’s Embrace story mode. I know that the flame golem is kind of broken but I’d like to get it completed. I sit around and shout out in map for group and set myself in LFG mode but no one even comes by Sorrow’s Embrace. In one hour maybe one premade group will come by and do EM, but no one wants to do story.

*Gw2skill.net shows up in Russian to me so I used a different one.

I build as a pure damage dealer with some utility. I use GS as my main source of damage but switch to LB when I need the range or to use Burning Shot to combo with a group.

The slot skills are my general running around skills, bolas/shrapnel mine for kiting the bigger dudes, banner of tactics for it’s swiftness boost so I can run around faster, and battle standard to rez idiotic npcs.

When I’m in a dungeon I switch out the slot skills accordingly for the dungeon I’m in, I’ll throw in shake it off if we’re in a dungeon where we are constantly getting conditioned to death like kitten SE, Fear me/stomp when we’re fighting a boss that mass summons little pricks, and balanced stance/endure pain when I’m getting sick of being focused by bosses.

I might switch out 20 discipline for 20 tactics but I REALLY like sweet revenge.

Why I think that crafting is broken

Big Boss.6248

I’ve pretty much just played my way through to level 73 and have just completely dropped crafting. I will just purchase the mats needed when I have some gold at 80. I’ll just gather for experience and getting my dailies.

At this point the only way we can save crafting is getting rid of the leveling system all together and making it so we can take all crafts at once. I’d like the make gear and have that be the reward, not leveling up some insignificant bar.

Also thanks for changing the title of this thread, it completely changes the context of the thread entirely and is something that is totally warranted.

I use GS/LB and run a 30/20/0/0/20 build with Great Fortitude, Slashing Power, Physical Training, Rending Strikes, Blademaster, Warrior’s Sprint, and sweet revenge. I change my slot skills for each dungeon accordingly but I generally run battle standard elite, bolas, and shrapnel mine to help kite enemies.

Since I can’t edit my first post I’m going to list out a few things here for those that :

1. I HAVE BEEN FARMING! Don’t bring up the fact that “you should just man up and farm it” when I have been. I am aware of other MMOs. I was there for the WoW launch, FFXI, GW1, and even Runes of kitten Magic.

2. The problem isn’t things like wood and ore, the problem is the amount of fine materials needed to make insignias and inscriptions. Thus leading to number 3.

3. Jewelcrafting does not require any insignias or inscriptions making it really easy to level.

4. My problem is NOT that the crafts are too “hard” to level up to max, its the fact that it is impossible (unless you have plenty of gold to blow) to craft gear while you’re leveling and you need to level the crafting at end game.

In the end: There has only been ONE crafting system that I liked in ANY game, and that was Monster Hunter. You did not need to farm a bunch of materials to raise some arbitrary “crafting level” to make cool stuff. The gear you make is made of the monsters you fight making a natural progression of gear, you fight stronger monsters you get stronger gear so that you can fight even stronger monsters.

Or you can read the further posts and actually see my point. The people who are saying it is easy are those at max level. I am, and this is anet’s “Design”, supposed to be able to keep my crafting level up with my profession level but I’m level 52 and am making level 30 weapons that are trash to me. I could be so much further in the game if I hadn’t busied myself in lower level areas farming fine materials trying to make gear on my level.

Which can be easily countered by hitting the V key once. The people complaining about it being broken and OP are the ones who don’t even know they have an endurance bar, or are too stupid to get out of the way.

Which brings me back to one of my points. Why does an ability have to have another ability just to work effectively 1 out of every 3 times?

Greatsword makes up for it’s lack of CC with its straight up outrageous amounts of damage, no other weapon gets this kind of raw damage output so of course they have some negatives which you use your slot skills to fill.

If you are not able to effectively hit your hundred blades you are not watching your timing and blowing it WAY too early, it should not be your opening skill after your spin to win/rush. Hundred blades will go through all of it’s ticks because it has a passive little “stumble” if the enemy simply tries to walk/run away and if you are watching they can only roll twice if you want to get the full effect of hundreds blades to work.

Bigboss, like I said, there are more ways to be a team player than simply spamming area buffs. Every cooldown you spend buffing is one I spend killing, kiting, or CCing, or tanking something that’s hurting my team. Every second your buffs are NOT up, mine are.

I’m not running any buffs, my slot skills are all active CCs with battle standard to res my allies, I’m able to physically stop enemies, res allies, and in general be useful. You still need to be popping your actives on your signets, if not they’re completely useless as the passives do not amount to much. Also popping actives does not stop you from using other skills or moving around, if you’re trying to get rid of your need to use actives then you need to play another game. I wouldn’t be surprised if Anet gets rid of the passives on signets to promote a more active play style.

If you want to DPS as a Warrior you end up going for a more passive playstyle. It’s just how it is.

The CCs and support skills are good but it really depends what you’re doing. DPS builds should stack DPS.

I am, I stack my DPS with the runes I run and the traits I build. Strength 30, arms 20, and Discipline 20 grabbing Great Fortitude, Slashing Power, Physical Training, Rending Strikes, Forceful Greatsword, Warrior’s Sprint, and Sweet Revenge.

Playing more passively means your DPS in the end is much lower. On level 80 the required precision for 1% critical chance is 21, Deep Strike is hardly worth it as a trait as it’s cons WAY outweigh its pros.

I’m playing a very barbarian like warrior, I’m the first in knocking around everyone with cc, I pin down my target and unleash hell while keeping the other mobs/players in disarray.

Big Boss.6248

I don’t know how you got this vibe but Greatswords are pretty much the meta for warriors in PvP, most people think hundred blades is broken as hell and kills way too quickly for such a short cooldown. The amount of time that it takes for hundred blades to do all it’s damage is not all that long and the range is very misleading and a lot broader than you’d think.

I myself run bolas, but I just like having a fairly spammable root slot skill as I hate having people try to run from me. You are naturally going to want to have some cc on your bar if you’re running GS as it is a pure damage weapon with only a cripple as it’s cc, its going to be useless having all the damage in the game if you can’t hit anyone.

Yeah no, you are not a team player if you are running 5 signets passively and not using their actives. You are only buffing yourself a slight amount and in generally spamming weapon cool downs, congrats on being useless like those Necros that run around with minions that they never use their actives with.

Big Boss.6248

Yeah no, the crafting doesn’t need to be any easier than it already is. What are you expecting OP? This is an MMO, it by and large is already a time sink. Do you have any idea how many people are at 400 crafting already? I think instead of putting down the system, you need to reconsider how you’ve managed your mats and what you chose to craft.

Oh I’m sorry, I was expecting Anet to follow what it has already said. Maybe if you had been reading and not just the opening post you would realize that I’m trying to level crafting as I level so I am able to use the gear I make, however the consensus is to only level up crafting when you hit end game when it is financially possible.

This is simply not true. I may had spent about 2-3 gold (for sure not 3g!) and im already 400 in armor and 380 in jewells. And a little bit of farming (3-4 runs) for gold and silver.

You’re at end game then and missing the point of this post, I’m talking about leveling crafting as your leveling your character, I have yet to make anything useful and to get from level 100 in weaponsmith to level 125 cost 1g 30 s which, at the time, was a third of all my gold for no return.

I have to disagree with everything said here. It’s all about discovering the highest possible items you can discover at a given time. That’s how you maximize experience gain. Moreover, many of the things you make you can sell at a 50% profit. Specifically the recipes that cost karma.

I had 5 gold at 118 tailoring on Sunday. I decided “to hell with it I’ll just buy the mats and see how far I can go.” At the end of the day I was at 400 tailoring with 1 gold +3.5 gold worth of stuff on the auction house.

Maybe you missed my other post but I ALWAYS make sure to use discovery mode while crafting.

I make sure I craft everything in discoverable mode, I have not used the same recipe more than once unless a friend throws some mats at me to make a gun or something. “Trash” is me making a bunch of different weapons that I don’t even use but need to because I can’t make 15 types of Greatswords and Bows, even more worthless because random drops are giving me better gear that’s at my own level.

Seriously either get rid of leveling all together or make the amount of mats needed to make inscriptions/insignias much lower and much easier to obtain.

Or you can bring some actual crowd control, there are a disturbing lack of people bring stomp, fear me, throw bolas, and other skills. I always run Stomp and “Fear Me!” as aoe cc like that can be a hell of a lot more useful than getting some small bonuses to your stats.

Y’all need to stop playing with such passive build and actually get to throwing fools around.

Crafting needs a huge overhaul. The amount of time and gold that needs to be spent in order to level your crafting skills is ridiculous.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/12521-arenanet-andrew-mcleod-talks-crafting-in-gw2/page__st__450#entry599372 anet post linked to by the gw2wiki. We’re apparently supposed to be able to level crafting as I level my character by making items useful to me without having to craft a bunch of “junk,” I have been doing just the opposite though being forced to craft a bunch of “junk” and forced to go back and farm previous areas I have long since out leveled.

At this point after sinking hours into a crafting system that has returned nothing to me other than raising some level I’m about to say kitten it and just ignore crafting as a whole and only use gathering to get my daily.

Big Boss.6248

I like how the rest of the game is brimming with great ideas to get rid of the grind and have a good time exploring, fighting, and playing through my own story line, however crafting seems like it needs to have a closer look at.

Now I like that I can piece together my own gear to make a new combination, take an inscription and some other parts and POOF make a sword with the stats I want. What I don’t like is that I’m level 34 and I’m having to farm copper still which as you all know is only in the starter areas of each race forcing me to only experience the low level content instead of reaching more challenging foes and content. I thought we were supposed to be getting rid of the grind in GW2, why am I making nothing but heaps of trash in order to make things that are actually useful? I actually prefer GW1’s crafting system at this point you find what you need to make the item, not find mounds of crafting materials to make a meter go up to craft something you want in end game.

What needs to happen is one of two things: either we get rid of the leveling system and just have it so you can make the item as long as you have the materials or majorly increase the amount of experience you get while crafting so I am able to craft gear that is actually useful to me instead of forcing me to run through each starter zone to get mats.
