“There are no plans to allow a complete removal of the reminder, but I’m told you can hit play directly and not deal with the reminder at all.”
This is no longer accurate. You can’t play the game until you select one of the two options.
It just doesn’t make sense to harass me when I’ve already made up my mind. If it’s that critical that they get everyone on-board, then require it. I will go play another game. If it’s not critical, stop harassing me. Seems simple.
I don’t like third party authenticators. If the game can’t make it secure, then spreading my personal info and relationships won’t make things better. Privacy vs Security is not a fair trade-off to me. Some people don’t care about that. Great. I do.
Are you even reading before responding?
I was reading your linked post and typing my response. You made a reply in the interim. There’s no need to be rude.
If the Federal Government can’t keep it’s information safe, how do we know Anet can?
Nowhere was it listed on the box that I had to give out my cell phone when I bought this game. They need to give me the option not give it out.
You give them your cell number, I keep mine to myself. Like I said before, opt-in, opt-out. I am not risking anyone’s account but my own.
I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be the security option. I’m saying just ask me ONCE to enable the extra layer, then leave it be. Harassing players who don’t every time they login is irritating. Making the option to “Ask Me Again” when the only other option is to enable it, is ridiculous. That’s not really an option. It’s a rule. The button for the ask me again is subdued too, which is another lame marketing gimmick. Anet, less big brother, more game please.
It’s a videogame. I don’t need to give them any more information or add any red tape to the process.
Enough with trying to find out my cell number Anet. Let it go. Give us an option to not be harassed by it every time we login.
I did a check today on the changes to the AC. I noticed some significant changes to defensive AC targeting. I put up ACs on the tower’s inner ledge, on the inward protruding horizontal timber, the stair in-cropping, and even the outer ledge. The outer ledge certainly has the most coverage, as it should. The inner ledge ACs had much less. They were still able to hit the area alongside the exterior of the wall, with blind spots only where the ballista barriers are. If you want to hit more stuff, you need to expose yourself to more fire… fair. As for offensive ACs, I also made several on the outer walls. They adhere to the LOS much more restrictively.
I hear a lot of complaints about defensive ACs disproportionately affected. The truth of the matter is, offensive ACs got a huge nerf. Defensive ACs got put back into perspective. I play on a low-pop server and I like my ACs. They are just a speed bump to the map blobs we have to deal with. I am glad that these blobs can’t annihilate the entire courtyard before they even get the door down.

My wife saw that HoT is to be the most anticipated release of the year. That tells me what a sad state MMOs are in. I don’t see much promising with this expansion. The raid content looks pretty thin. The guild halls are uninteresting. The changes to WvW will wreck the game. We still can’t talk to our own server in open world map chat to get people to defend or recruit. That’s an easy fix and they won’t even entertain it. More and more it seems Anet has blinders on, driven by who-knows what. All I see is pandering to TP moguls and whatever sells gems.
I just took a look at all the people flaming me and their posting history. It looks like you guys have hundreds of comments, some helpful, most similar to this one. This tells me you guys are just trolling and just want to silence any voice but your own.
I will try to find threads that are more specific to my topic. Please be more receptive to others wanting to participate in this community. More voice matter than just your own.
I apologize, but I didn’t see this topic 3 months ago. Does my opinion not matter then? Is the issue resolved? I dug around and still see people not happy with the current situation of silk supply and price. If the issue doesn’t matter to you, why do you feel you need to flame me?
Cyninja “What he is saying is, you dug up a 3 month old thread which has near no relation to the current market.”
I’ve posted new threads asking a question many times. Often times, someone pipes in telling me that the issue was already covered… basically telling me to shut up and ask the internet. So, in this instance, I tried to find a thread that covered it. The cost of silk is a market question.
Currently sitting on 140 chests. I’ve gotten all of 3 key drops, apart from starter zone. None since the supposed bump.
I f you have a suggestion how I can help my server while still getting my crafting needs done, please offer it.
Necromancy, I don’t get it
You need 100 bolts or 300 scraps of silk to do your daily cooldown. I farmed Highpeaks Waypoint today with 300% magic find for 30 minutes. I got 13 scraps of silk. I played in WvW for 6 hours yesterday and got 18 bolts. These drop rates are out of whack.
Zoejoe “You can buy HoT with 500.000 bolts of silk. Core game included.”
You guys need to stop using my crafting mats as a means for currency in this game. I am an old-fashioned crafter. I like to farm my own mats and craft my own gear. Since Anet changed the ratio from 2:1 to 3:1, it’s been impossible to get the mats I need for my tailoring cooldowns from simply playing the game. I have three light armor toons I am trying to outfit with their first ascended. Ironically, I get all the mats I need in WvW to do the other 3 crafting dailies. I play mostly WvW,. Since my server is low pop in WvW, every moment I spend zoned out, is lost ground. Farming SW and dungeons is profitable but leaves me feeling like a deserter.
Please return the warhorn to its original sound
Anet, please remove the annoying SMS prompt on login. The subdued “Ask Me Later” is a cheesy marketing tactic that is beneath you and spoils your legacy. I feel like you are coercing me into giving out my cell number.
This is my first experience with this server transfer issue, yet I didn’t transfer. 18 guilds from Dragonbrand (Tier 3) to Hedge of Denravi (Tier 4). DH, NSP, and HoD were all pretty evenly matched until this week. We won last week. HoD won the week before. Everything’s changed now. HoD used to have 20 people total playing during OCX and EU. Now they are running 40-man zergs during those times. At first, I took it as a challenge. After being steamrolled for hours and hours, I’ve had enough. I will just stop playing for a month until they move back up a bracket.
The Glicko score is supposed to hone in on your actual ability level as a server. Individual players moving doesn’t impact the game. Moving entire guilds does, particularly when they are the core WvW guilds. This is really an exploit of the system. DB was doing poorly against Maguma. Instead of organizing as a server, they chose to disrupt the play of another tier and exploit the glicko system. The very fact that DH was not in consideration for a server destination because we were at the top of our tier and would give the most glicko points if defeated. In essence, it was doing well. This is the very definition of anti-competitive. Let me be clear though. I don’t want them here.
This is all like your big brother getting held back in school so he can steal money for you from Junior Highers instead of getting swirlies himself from High Schoolers his own age.
What’s worse is it sounds like this is a regular occurrence. It sounds like there will never be stability in WvW. It’s dead. Dozens of players stopped playing WvW on Darkhaven because of this. By the end of the week there will be tons more. Good luck getting them back. Free server transfers will only accelerate these server stampedes over consistent players.
I hate the idea to make this guild-centered. I would estimate that 75% of our server’s WvW players are in small guilds or unguilded. The prospect of having to join a mega guild to even get to play is a non-starter for most. That would put more power in the hands of these guild leaders who engineer these server hops that have been so destructive to WvW participation.
What’s really disturbing is that the same leaders are happy with the attrition of “scrubs.” My server’s WvW guilds are very pug friendly. I hope we aren’t graced with presence of these elite guilds. I would rather not play at all than to be lectured on how to play.

I am just coming back to the game. This idea of dueling on the battlefield didn’t really bother me until the other day. While our Bay Keep was getting trebbed and a mass of baddies were at our gate, I cannoned a guy attacking one of our own. I then got a stream of complaints from my server mate that I interrupted his duel, then he ignored me.
I have two problems with this:
1. If you’re gonna duel, do it somewhere away from the action.
2. If your keep is about to be taken, spare a couple minutes to defend it.
There wasn’t a queue or outnumbered issues, but those could definitely be a problem.
I actually saw this happen again today with a guy who let our EB Keep get run over, which happened to be the last objective we held. HoD – NSP truce and HoD adds from DB are showing some fruit. I think I will have nightmares. Anyhow, my server mate was dueling. It so happened that after that we held the keep against 25 HoD for 15 minutes with only 4 people and some well-placed disablers. Imagine if we had one more.

Good points. GvG seemed like an exciting idea when I first heard it. Since then I’ve seen the aftermath. I really think it has hurt WvW. Casual players are practically non-existent anymore. Having active guilds on the battlefield provides casuals direction and a means to learn the ropes. Most guilds who can fill a GvG will pull in every member. I play at off-times, where there are only a dozen people playing on my server for hours at a time. I just see a pattern of policies like this one, and the chat channels where you can’t even talk to your server mates, have driven players from WvW. I am sad.
I can attest to the HoD gains. Their numbers in WvW have definitely been plussed up this week. We in Darkhaven are getting steam rolled like never before.
I heard through the rumor mill that 18 Dragonbrand guilds will be moving to Henge of Denravi, which is on our tier. I suppose that’s part of the game. I don’t mind that kind of strategy and coordination. It’s actually encouraging. I also don’t mind that North Shiver Pines and Henge of Denravi are working together against Darkhaven. We humiliated both last week and now we’re getting our commupins. I think both servers attacking the same objective alongside one another is kinda tacky though.
What does bother me, is that I feel I have no means to rally my server into WvW. That is discouraging. When you can’t even call for help, it makes us feel absolutely powerless. This has caused some players I’ve been playing with move their toons to another server, other quit the game entirely. Only the large guilds that have established mediums outside the game seem to be able to overcome this. With communication barriers to speak to the masses, large guilds are favored, since collaboration amongst server mates is impeded.

I left GW2 a year and a half ago. I had to relearn my class, WvW, and the game. I joined Melon Cats [CATS] which is a great PvE guild. They couldn’t quite quench my WvW needs, so I thought I would have to go it alone in WvW. I was really surprised to find so many guilds that would add me to their fold, mid-zerg. The list on the first page of this thread is very accurate. All guilds everywhere could use more people, but we have some very experienced guilds that take WvW quite seriously. The dedication level is impressive. I don’t know about the other servers, but Darkhaven is definitely a server you can drop into WvW and jump into any group. No pretentious attitudes and no one to bash you over the head if you make a mistake or don’t know the ropes. Great people all around.

The new cap reduction, whatever it is can be a good thing. It pushes players to BLs instead of all turtling the Dorito in EB. I can’t tell you how many times EB was player capped with a karma train extending the length of the map and we couldn’t even find a few people to flip a camp in our own BL.
I have to say the server mergers have been a good thing for PvE. You can find more people when you want to do something. Unfortunately, there have been unexpected consequences for WvW. The combined map chat channel is a challenge for guild and individuals who want to recruit members to their WvW dedicated guild or just requests for people to discreetly zone into WvW to respond to attacks. An open call for people to come help defend our garrison would have the opposite effect since you would be potentially talking to two enemy servers and only one friendly one. Projecting weakness is counterproductive. For this reason, commanders and competitive WvW players don’t use PvE map chat. This has stifled efforts to get PvE and PvP players to cross over into WvW. PvE map chat is actually a nuisance for most players even those looking for WvW guilds, since the chance is negligible to speak to someone on our own server. Attrition will continue in WvW until we get a secure means to speak to players on our server. In this case, silence is deadly.
What would be nice is a multi-channel filter, where we could broadcast only to our server in map chat. A dedicated WvW channel that is toggled off by default would not work in my honest opinion. Only currently active WvW players would turn it on. If the channel was on by default, all it would take is some trollage and PvE players would turn it off and never look back. You guys created some great content in WvW. I just want to remove this unintentional barrier to bringing new players into it.

I too had the same problem. I tried everything in-game to fix it from relogging to character screen, relogging onto another character, zoning to another area. I also tried to fix it via reconnecting my mouse. I switched the resolution from windowed to windowed full and to others. None of it worked.
I did get it to fix the problem once (for a while) by restarting the game client, logging onto another character (to dump the cache) and logging back into the original character.
I also fixed it a different way. I went into Edit Account > Security > Current Logins. I noticed I had three active logins. I hit the disconnect on the two oldest ones. It restarted my client, so it could be the same fix as above. I wonder if the error could be carrying over through redundant logins though.
