This works on everything, but I think you have additional issues that are killing your FPS. I see 50+ FPS when not in huge zergs, with only shadows turned down (shadows always have killed my performance on all systems).
I’ve got a 6850 and a 1090T phenom 2 x6. I’ll agree with disabling turbo core, but leaving on the extra cores doesn’t really hurt. If you’re having issues with that, I suggest you look into core parking. RAM timings aren’t going to significantly affect your game performance, unless you buy RAM that’s rated above what you can set to (say 1866 or something) and you up your FSB AND attempt to run tighter timings than your RAM is rated for. There’s more to overclocking, btw, that just increasing your multiplier and voltage. You can actually end up with worse performance if you don’t take care to increase the north bridge and hyper transport frequencies along with the cpu clock.
But yes, increasing the cpu clock will get you some performance increases, but unless you are getting massive overclocks or taking care to speed up HT/NB and RAM alongside the CPU, you aren’t going to get more than a few frames additional performance. Maybe a coulple fps/100MHz increase, up to a certain point, after which you have to balance the HT/NB speeds with the CPU to remain stable to keep getting any benefit.
I apologize if the original question didn’t properly convey what I was trying to ask
“There MAY however be particular recipes for certain items that have yet to be discovered. "
This is pretty much my question, and
“The only ones who can offer you the confirmation you are looking for are Devs. And good luck to you, but I really don’t think they are going to respond to that because history tells us that is unlikely.”
That’s why I asked it here, in the hope that I might get some tidbit of information. Glad we’re on the same page now
The disproportionate amount of some weapon types versus others and the vast amount of items accepted by the forge is what makes me wonder if we haven’t found all the possible recipes yet, even if we know all the possible items in the game. And given the investment some recipes pieces take (gifts, bloodstone shard, etc) many people won’t put effort into investigating it if the belief is that there’s nothing more.
So, if a dev says we’ve found most, then we move on (and maybe wonder why the forge isn’t utilized more, because it’s a really cool feature). If a dev says we have a long way to go, then it might be enough to spark the community into continuing to research recipes.
Thanks for the input
Hostile? I would say the tone has changed since first post, but not hostile. Then again, some agitation should be expected when a question is asked and the naysayers continually say “you are wrong because we know you are” without references as to why you know I’m wrong. Also never said anyone had to agree with me, but it seems you didn’t come for discourse, you came to tell me I’m wrong and to stop looking into this. In fact, if you read my last post, you would see "I’m just looking for confirmation on whether or not we’ve found everything ".
The whole reason I’m asking here, looking for dev input, is that there are a number of folk in the community who, based on various assumptions, have decreed that there are no additional MF recipes to be discovered. I also never said that there were items we didn’t know about, merely we didn’t necessarily know all ways to obtain them. As the responses I’ve gotten indicate, clearly that was lost on those that replied to this thread.
Since I am continually told that this has been answered by “multiple people in the community” could you please link to those answers and their reasoning as to why they are correct on this? Perhaps a link to developer comments on the discussion in this thread? I came to ask a question, apparently your purpose in this thread is to claim knowledge and provide no substance, just claims based on limited data, and to accuse me of hostilities.
Thanks Nike, your mastery of the forge and intimate knowledge of the game must be unrivaled. You still dont get it. Yes, i know all those things, I’m just looking for confirmation on whether or not we’ve found everything or if those tired old talking points you and others continue to lazily blather on about are complete rubbish. If we’ve found them all, that’s great, good for everyone to know. If we haven’t, if we aren’t even close, then that, IMHO, is even better.
Besides, are you going to tell me you have enough inventory space to have at least 1 of each item that can be placed in the mystic forge in your inventory at the same time? Including all gifts of X? Including other weapons made at the forge? Because if you don’t, and don’t have all that stuff, you can’t be sure there aren’t additional recipes. If you don’t agree, go look at some of the odd items that have been used to make weapons, including needing MF’d weapons.
And where’s your proof of that? Have you personally tried every combination of item to see if it combines with every other combination of item? There are utterly ridiculous recipes that have been identified, and there’s no certainty that we’ve found all valid MF recipes. This is especially true if one considers recipes that involve gift of X. Hence why I’m asking here, if a developer comes around and says “nope, you’ve got them all/got most of them” then the conversation ends. If a dev comes by and says anything to the contrary, then things get interesting again with the mystic forge.
Finally, where did you get “It’s not possible. Any exotic weapon that has a recipe cannot be obtained by the 4 rare/exotic system or dropped in game.” from? Please reference proof for this statement, since I recall there being quite a few exotics on the list on the wiki being found by players using the karma exploit early in the game to throw tons of weapons into the MF -.-
You both missed the point of my post. Yes, we know all the various weapon names and models and what not, but we don’t know if say, something like the fixer, has a MF recipe that isn’t flush 4 maces down the mystic toilet. We don’t know this for sure about quite a few weapons, as some weapons were already on the TP (example: Kryta’s Salvation) prior to public revealing of the recipe. It’s possible some MF recipe items can also be obtained by flushing 4 rares/exotics down the MF as well as having a unique recipe.
That’s what my question was, of the recipes we have identified on the other items page, how many more are we still missing? Not “are their weapons we don’t know about”, but “are there ways to MAKE weapons (that we already know about) that we don’t know about”
Hoping one of the developers will provide some feedback here…
On the wiki, we’ve documented quite a few MF recipes for exotic weapons on the mystic forge/other items page. However, there has been a good deal of debate about whether or not weapons that exist in the game can only obtained by randomly flushing 4x weapons down the forge and hoping, or if there are unknown recipes that result in a guaranteed result similar to existing known recipes on the other items page. A particular pain point is that while there seem to be numerous known recipes for some weapon types (I’m looking at you focus!), there are other weapons that re not represented at all, such as rifles, harpoon guns, maces, and there are plenty of under-represented weapon types.
So, why the insane number of focus items, but little to nothing for other weapons? As a community, have we just not discovered these recipes? Or do they really not exist? I’m not asking for a dev to provide a list of what we’re missing, more to comment on the situation and give something like ‘you guys have only found 40%’ or ‘recipes exist for all weapon types, you just need to dig deeper’. Such a response would renew interest in mystic forge research and would, in the long term, help the economy as new sinks are identified for undervalued items.
Thanks for taking the time to read this
Not to derail this conversation, I’ve seen the necromancer bug post thread and I feel for you guys, I really do. Just adding some outside perspective from someone who doesn’t play necro, but hates going up against them…
Have you guys ever thought that maybe you are being viewed as a vocal minority? As a primary guardian/secondary thief/tertiary other stuff, I absolutely hate running into a Necro in WvW or sPvP. More often than not, most of the ones I encounter are either good enough to draw me into a stalemate, or GOOD enough to force me to retreat with my tail between my legs. I know I’m not the only one this happens to, my guild mates agree (except the one that plays necro, but he’s a slacker) and I’ve had plenty of people agree with me on reddit.
Maybe what it is is that they really don’t know what to do with the class, because on one hand they have in game data of necromancers working perfectly well, and they have a forum full of people saying they are broken and need to be fixed. Likely the truth is somewhere in the middle, and they just need time to fine tune a fix in a way that doesn’t break the class (overpowered/underpowered post patch).
Finally, to give you guys a glimmer of hope, if there are any GW1 players here, you’ll recall that they went through each class later in the life of GW1 and basically gave them a complete face-lift, going as far as to add new mechanics and what not. Given their move in that direction, I would expect to see them continue down that path in GW2 (and do so much earlier, given previous lesson’s learned), so don’t lose faith guys.
So, I’ve been curious for a while about the skull items. Large skulls drop in some areas and have their crafting uses, but what about the other skull items? There are small skulls up through engraved skulls, as seen
http://www.gw2db.com/items/60186-small-skull – [&AgEsXwAA]
http://www.gw2db.com/items/60189-carved-skull – [&AgEvXwAA]
http://www.gw2db.com/items/60190-engraved-skull – [&AgEwXwAA]
Has anyone ever found one other than a large skull? I’ve even tried to transmute large skulls up to carved, but none of the known upgrade recipes work. Terribly interested in items like these, especially when it seems like sometimes recipes are missing that should exist, including certain sigils and stuff.
Thoughts?
I have sent bug reports in game, however it seems to still be broken.
This is a skill that I believe to be linked to many of the bugged events/skill point challenges on all servers, as it would only take one to break it.
I’ve found that, when using the guardian’s spirit hammer, sometimes during the hammer’s auto attack chain, it will knock back an opponent. This is all awesome under normal circumstances. However, if that NPC happens to be near a wall, it will occasionally cause the NPC to be knocked back THROUGH THE WALL. I first noticed this during the boss fight at the end of the font of rand, but thought it was just a random glitch. Noticed it again during a personal story mission, though I lucked out and the mobs made it back out of the wall (though I couldn’t follow them in). Just thought I should point this out here, in case it hadn’t been noticed yet. Anyone else experience odd behavior with this utility skill?
I have a 6850, game runs pretty well for me. Typical frame rates are 40-50, worst I’ve had is low 20’s. Most settings on HIGH, except shadows and AA. Have not done much WvWvW post launch, so no idea how it performs there.
Should also mention,
16GB DDR3
Phenom II x6 1090T, OC’d to 3.5GHz (I’m lazy)
Only lost 50 silver, but that’s because I check after every couple transactions. Was only doing small ones for crafting materials. Hoping these show up, it’s not cool to blow money on stuff and then check out the pick up window and see nothing there.
Hear this is affecting selling as well, which would explain why some of my listings are gone but I had nothing to pick up from that either…
