Good. So glad thieves are getting a nerf.
lol I guess DH is going to let AR treb SM from AR Valley all night. Tried to organize people several times to take down the trebs, no luck. Good game AR.
Blue, let me know if you want to see another video and I’ll put one together of me doing a camp solo
Would love to see another video by you. ^^
Voting for commanders sounds like a great idea. Until you think about it for more than about 3 seconds. I don’t know about your server, but on Gandara there are only about a dozen commanders with the reputation to be reliably voted for. Voting would be all well and good when they’re online and willing to lead; being able to tell other commanders to shut up and let the pros get to work without distraction would be great.
But then there are large parts of the week when none of those players are online, or are online but don’t want to command. What would happen then with voting can best be described by the word “clusterkitten”. You’d have random guilds trying to promote one of their guys, you’d have trolls doing what trolls do, and you’d either end up with no commander at all, or being landed with a commander who’s vocal and has alot of guildies, not the one who’s best. So yeah, voting would be great if you wanna kill off organised play.
I always get a whiney jealous vibe off these posts asking for changes to how commander is acquired. That’s not to say I don’t think some changes would be good. But you open with “Some of these people need their privileges revoked.” Maybe we’re just lucky on Gandara, but I’ve yet to see a commander who’s actively a detriment to the server. Certainly some are better than others, but none of them actually make things worse by turning their tag on. Infact all our commanders seem to have a good understanding that if another commander is already trying to do something, then don’t turn your own tag on and start talking all over him. During parts of the morning, when there’s hardly anyone about and often no commanders, you’ll see the morning crew crying out for someone to come on and turn on a tag so they can at least get a group gathered, even if the commander does nothing more than act as a signpost.
So enough with the whinging and the jealousy and be grateful that someone’s shelled out 100 gold to provide your server with a marker on the map at which to gather.
Perhaps you are lucky. However, on my server sometimes half a dozen commanders will be in EB with their tags on in the same place. Other times there are half a dozen commanders are split off in different directions doing their own thing irregardless of what people are trying to accomplish. None of them communicate with each other, and some of them don’t speak the same language. Commanders should be commanding, not acting as sign posts, however if that’s all their going to do then being split off into 6 different areas of the map does not help the lowest common denominator. In fact having six different commanders split off in different areas of the map is akin to having four different road signs that say the the road goes North South East AND West and your goal to actually get something done is diminished by the lack of cooperative sign posts.
Also, 100G is probably one of the easiest things to get in this game. Anyone can farm CS and get a tag.

What i would like to see is reputation voting for commanders because some of the commanders I’ve seen is just terrible. like trying to capture SM with 20 players only to get slaughtered by 150+ players and with terrible attitude. I think a vote up/down system would make things better if there is several commanders you can choose who to follow. a commander with a lot of good reputation is likely to know what he/she is talking about.
This would be optimal, actually. Then all the apologists are happy, and the people who want to rework the system are happy.
If the people on your server are not smart enough to figure out quickly which Commanders they should or should not follow, that is a problem with your server population.
If they ARE smart enough to know which Commanders to follow, this system is entirely superfluous.
So how smart’s your server?
I guess you’re pugs must be smarter than our pugs… I haven’t seen any difference in pug intelligence in any MMO I’ve ever played though.
Mostly because I’m a newb and I don’t know what I would respec to.
Ah right no worries, I will try record a camp flip tomorrow with my prefered spec and upload it to show you the difference. I will link the spec too so you can check it out if you like, it uses almost identical gear as glamour.
That would be awesome, thank you very much.
Some of these people need their privileges revoked.
Made this quickly OP….
Hope it helps, Open with Feedback and dont drop your second glamour field until the blind from the first one has taken effect.
omg awesome, thank you very much for this.
No worries mate Just out of curiosity why not respec to a more efficient roaming/solo build then respec back to glamour when your in mass PvP ?
Thats what I do, I have my standard trait spec then when im in a guild group or GvG I swap to glamour as its only ~3s to respec

Also I want to say that it’s pretty cool that we’re both asuran mesmers

Today I was trading in minis and since I am a newb I traded 5 or 6G to get the three pack thinking I could double my money. It was a rookie mistake but it cost me half of the gold I made over the past three days.
What boneheaded ideas have you had that didn’t work out?
I’ve been trying to learn how to solo take a camp using a build loosely based on Kylia’s confusion spec mesmer and I’ve had absolutely no luck whatsoever. Aside from ganking, when I’m just practicing by myself I just get destroyed because there is way too much aggro.
So far I’ve figured out that taking out the scouts first makes it significantly easier because they’re doing all the ranged damage. The trick is taking out the scouts first. I’m an asuran and I attempt to take out the one with the pistol first by laying down two glamors and summoning clones and my 7-series golem, usually I can get him down and avoid most of the mobs, but I am almost never successful because the other scout always owns me.
I was hoping to find a video somewhere but I’ve found nothing. Anyone who has any tips would be awesome.
It is impossible to get a group together for this now because everyone says it’s too hard. It’s infuriating that people refuse to play this because it’s not casual enough.
Changed the orange swords combat marker to show only if more than 25 people are in combat in the area.
best change they’ve ever made.
After a moment were you teleported to the appropriate portal keep or were you just stuck there?
Me, and nearly unanimously -everyone- I talked to was stuck there until they logged out. Pretty much my entire guild who was in wvw when this happened experienced the same. The weirdest part about it was that it was impossible to die, you were just instantly rezzed when you did.
