Swampland Fractal Tree exploit

While it does take an unnecessary amount of time to kill Mossman on 77, there is still no need to be a tree-hugger. It makes it take longer IMO. Doing it legit is 100% PUG friendly as long as nobody wimps out.

LFG Dungeon/Fractal/Raid question

I personally have not encountered a gear check in a very long time. If the content isn’t either raid or fractal 50+, then gear isn’t do or die anyway. Everything is fairly easy regardless of gear up to that point. If a party wants a gear check on any old dungeon or a level 20 fractal – you say “it’s not that serious bro” and leave for a better party.

Agreed, I got a glob two days ago from the Vet mobs before Molten Duo.

News that it is still broken, yes. For a long time I knew for a fact the last thing I had to do was clear Fields of Ruin. I finally take the time to do it, but do not get my reward. I look, missing one POI. I knew I already had Chantry, so it had to be something new. Sure enough, the POI right next to the drill in LA. I go in and get it, still no rewards. This isn’t my first 100% completion, I know what the requirements are – it’s just broken. I’m sure they’ll fix it some day and a chest will be waiting when I log in, it was just a very disappointing end to my evening.

Use gw2lfg.com to find an AC group. They do exist – AC really isn’t hard, just not quite as akitten faceroll like it used to be. You can put together a group for any dungeon on that website if you’re patient enough.

Or join a guild that runs dungeons.

AC Difficulty

My Guild stayed away from AC for a looong time after the patch. We heard so many bad things about it we decided it wasn’t worth the time anymore. Pre-patch we ran sometimes all three paths every night including killing kohler and the troll for more money.

We recently tried it out because one of our guys needed tokens for his legendary. The spider Queen wiped us the first time as we had not seen her new attacks before, but after that it’s really not bad. Reflects for the little spiders really help a lot – always kill them first before focusing the Queen. We quickly noticed that yes, they made boss changes, however the creatures health pools have been reduced, for the trash and the bosses – so it kind of balances out.

Kohler got easier – any group that skips him is lame. Yes he has adds, but he still has the same old very easy to dodge charge-up skill, he does less damage, has less health, and the adds die from AoE within seconds.

For Path 1 defending Hodgins and the burrows, IMO the most PUG friendly method would be for someone tanky or someone good with movement/evades to toy with the gravelings at the mound by the entrance while the other 4 take out the two mounds on the left. Then the group should take the long way around (staying away from Hodgins) on their return to the center/right side of the room to help the solo player with the three mounds in the center/right. At this point, with one mound left, Hodgins should still have full health. At any point if he does start taking damage, one person just needs to go over and smack the graveling(s) to steal aggro and kite away. Then all that is left is the mound in the top left corner. Either all can go, or some stay behind to kite away from Hodgins while 1 to 3 people go take care of the last mound. Pretty easy. A lot of times due to the graveling KD, picking someone up off the floor can be suicide. At that point there should only be at most two mounds left, better to try finishing without them. The end boss of Path 1 can be made pretty trivial if you aggro him when he is in the top right (or back) corner of the room. Most of the adds that come from the tunnels will suicide in the fire rings. Ones that don’t can be kited into them, or use pushes, pulls, etc. The boss dies pretty fast.

Glitches in Fractals that Need to be Fixed

From last patch notes

Cliffside: Players can no longer exploit the final boss by keeping him stunned in an emote loop.

This is in fact not fixed, unless there were 2 ways of doing it.

Agreed. Did a 36 run post-patch and they got him to drop the hammer continuously no problem. What I DON’T like is getting completely locked out of my skills after hitting the seal. One should be able to hit a stun-breaker here like it was before.

Molten facility, Living story team.

I ran through this last night with some guildies. We had a lot of fun with it. The weapons test was cool, and I enjoyed the final boss fight. We all lol’d when the Molten Firestorm died. Is there a different cutscene if you kill the berserker first?

Would it get repetitive and potentially boring if you ran it over and over again? Sure, but so would anything else (CoF 1?). All that is needed is more variety, which this dungeon brings temporarily. Maybe make the ruins of the facility permanent and add more dungeon paths, add more paths to existing dungeons and/or MOAR FRACTALS (with proper rewards).

This dungeon is serving its purpose. More of this type of content would be perfectly ok with me.

I didn’t even know there was a “recipe” for Emberglow. Thought it was just a named exotic drop. I’ve had one drop from the Slave Driver in CoF as well as off an enemy invader in WvW.

Why would AC becoming harder make an impact on the value of a specific item?

I ran one Path in AC, TA, and CoF last night with some guildies, and we rather enjoyed the additional loot from bosses/chests. I myself didn’t get anything great from chests, but two of the other guys got two rares each from a single chest. Even though it didn’t happen to me, I’d say it was a significant buff from before. The added coin from the bosses plus a core or lodestone here and there has made dungeons more profitable, and I intend to run them more often now.

With Plinx occurring less frequently it will force players to disperse to other things more often which I think is a good thing. Dungeons are the perfect place to go.

Crash/Black Screen Issue (NVIDIA)

I wanted to add my experience here to hopefully help some people. I am running a somewhat aged machine (built it three years ago). Core i7 860 / EVGA P55 SLI / 4GB Corsair Dominator GT / Corsair 850w PSU / EVGA GTX 295 Co-op Edition. Keep in mind I have never done ANY overclocking.

Now, it still runs everything I throw at it flawlessly. The only hiccup I ever encountered was with Team Fortress 2. Fix was to turn off Multi-GPU for hl2.exe. No big deal, still runs great.

I was in the beta weekends for GW2 and had some flickering from time to time and the occasional total freeze that required a restart. I though eh, its a beta they’ll fix it. Well, unfortunately they did not. I’ve been battling since the game came out trying all sorts of things. Latest drivers, beta drivers, clean driver installs.

Turning off Multi-GPU seemed to help a little. Before when it would go black, all I could see was the mouse and the computer would not respond at all – forced a restart. With only one GPU being used, if it ever did go black, I could alt-tab or open task manager and kill the process. Then fire up the game again and continue playing.

Definitely not heat related. We had a LAN party shortly after the game came out which included 10+ hour sessions of non-stop GW2. One day it was perfectly fine the whole time, another day it was glitching out every few minutes. Black screen, rainbow colors, all kinds of weird stuff. I really noticed it starting to get bad once I reached the dragon-brand area.

Next I tried a “clean” install of the latest beta drivers. Left all settings default (including multi-gpu). Seemed to be doing okay for a little while. But sure enough eventually the black screen showed its ugly face.

That brings me to today. I downloaded the latest version of EVGA Precision (3.0.3). Saw the core clock of GPU1 was at 300 MHz and GPU2 was at 576 MHz. I underclocked GPU2 by roughly 10% to 518 MHz and the game has been running like a dream all day. Possibly because I’m now able to use the dual GPUs instead of turning one off… but I’m seeing FPS anywhere from 30 up to mid 70’s and NO black screens all day, and I’ve been playing for quite a few hours. Something strange to note: I set the GPU2 clock down to 518, but it’s showing 399 MHz in the readout. Not sure what thats all about, if someone could shed some light that would be great.

The important thing is, it’s been running on Medium/High settings all day without a hitch. Although I don’t feel I should have to reduce the performance of my $500 graphics card (3 years ago) to play the game, I’d much rather underclock than turn one of the GPUs completely off. I could have saved $200 if I wanted to do that :P

I feel like this is progress…
