Nice idea to run in /high priority.. why didnt i think of that sooner.. and it really does help!!

1) open notepad
2)type: start “Guild Wars 2” /high “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”
3)go to – File > “Save as” – Filename: GW2.bat – Save as type: All files
4) MOVE gw2.bat to where your original exe is I.E C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2
5)Right click GW2.bat > Send to – desktop (create shortcut)
6) Right click newly created GW2.bat shortcut – Properties > change icon (ignore error message) > in section “look for icons in this file” paste this in “ProgramFiles (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” (without quotes) press enter then select your GW2.bat icon
7) you can now delete the orginal GW2.exe / rename GW2.bat to just GW2 (or whatever you want)
8) double click icon to start GW2 and open taskmanager and check that the process is now running on “high” priority..

• regardless of dual core /quad core / six core / a million cores (lol) i recomend not setting the prio any higher, you dont want drivers/system files to be starved **

Fair enough ..but alot of system can manage 30+ fps just standing in WvW , or with small 10 man fights. Im talking 50 to 100+ man battles.
I garuante u cant manage 30+ fps in those kinds of battles (which r the normal size of battles on most populated servers), if u can.. then please by all means hit up a videa of it becouse u will make me and alot of people very ..i repeat VERY..happy if u can tell us how u managed it

Its all about the drivers you use the settings you chose, and with culling i dont see 50+ coming until im dead..

Its that way for everyone, culling is a kitten

But it wont be on high settings and u wont be able to play WvW ..unless ur ok with sub 30 fps..likely sub 20fps.

For maybe around $200 more u could have a MUCH better system. Somthing with a i5 3570k, a 650ti instead of a 650 non Ti, appropriate Z77 motherboard, and aftermarket cpu cooler.
That setup would easily run a mixture of medium & high settings with good fps in PvE, and with that cpu and cooler u can OC and get the best performance GW2 can have in WvW .(.that being 30fps at minimum in the worst cases.)
No CPU currently out at stock clocks can manage 30fps in WvW battles, deffiantly not an i3, most drop well below 30fps, the older cpu’s drop below 10fps.

Dont want to knock your advice BUT zzzzzzz as i said my system much lower and i knock out 30+ frames in WvW… running OC’ed E8400, 4gb ram, twin 88gt’s.. and thst is medium – high..

Yes!! Autodetect settings in game would probably chose Med – low settings but you can run Med – high with that comfortably. WvW zerg might throw a few surprises at you but you will be fine..

Im running a slightly older and lower spec and i do Medium to high settings with comfortable 30+ fps so that rig should be all good..

Yea kinda annoying BUT from what i understand based on reading from other threads they are very busy and understaffed.

To be honest there are probably more geniuses and technical minded people playing the game that can fault find and assist quicker than Anet could..

Having said that though, Having geat knowledge comes great lazyness some people dont look at dev trackers or tech support threads because they aint having the problems. I only stumbled upon this thread while browsing trackers and thought id try help.

technically what should happen

Your playing game > it crashes > windows should pick up on that error > and thats where you should find it.

But if your having trouble loading game at all check your firewall and ports

and please don’t take my tone(if that’s possible with typed words) as disdain towards you, it is at this game (which I am sure since I started it up will crash very shortly) I start it up and seems like every time there is a download I have to do, I start to play with my friends and crashes happen, and it is just frustrating to know that I cannot return it and get my money back for a game that has caused a bunch of hassle.

OK all the settings seem fine.. i got a few more things for you to try..

To rule out any internet trouble

(1) open cmd prompt & type
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Then
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
then reboot pc > Play game untill it crashes (need to rule out each step)

(2) Check what driver Version your on, 12.10 is newest, 12.11 is in beta (still worth a try) 12.9 has known to have great success amongst GW2 community

Based on what i know im pretty sure it could be a driver issue you have. Try 12.11 + 12.9 after installing drivers reboot pc > Play game until it crashes..

(3) Right click GW2 icon & Run as administrator

My recommendation is do all 3 steps.. BUT reboot pc load game and play for a bit until it crashes AFTER each step. Dont do all 3 without trying the game after each step because i would like to identify the problem and help others..

I am having a similar issue. So I thought if I tried to update all my drivers and system it would fix the problem. It seems to have made the problem worst, because I cant even launch the game now. It wont even let me uninstall the game to re-download the game. Before I attempted to fix the problem, the game would constantly crash in random spots. I would always run the repair and it would sometimes crash during the repair. Any help would be great.

(1) What PSU + wattage you using?
(2) you have multiple HD’s, is GW2 Installed on the same HD as OS or a storage one?

I feel like I have wasted 60.00 because this game crashes constantly for me, I have changed the video settings like is recommended in the sticky, but yet to no avail ( which I don’t know why I should have to lower my settings as my rig is better then whatever this game can throw at it…and yes Far Cry 3 on max settings, as well as BF3, WoW(sure not the best example) ) but yet this game constantly crashes, oh yeah and the verifying files thing is becoming a pain in the butt. well off to play Far Cry 3 since it don’t crash.

Define crash!! (1) Is the GW2 client freezing and unresponsive? (2) Is it just closing and spitting an EXE error at you? (3) Is it losing net connection?

1 = It dont like your pc being overclocked ( been proven by me and many more that removing any OC as solved this) Weird i know..

3 = Reset your router b4 gameplay.. check your wi-fi connection.. change wi-fi channel..

these all helped me and many others and now i dont get any of these problems..

ive read the past 10 pages and its comical.. Legendary is supposed to be extremely rare and hard to get and changing the method for gaining 1 is ridiculous.. The current method is perfectly fine..

To add to that a legendary is a pure SKIN!! no real dmg gain so spending thousands of gold and hundreds of hours for a skin is personal choice but in doing so knowing it is only a SKIN dont QQ bout drop rate or RNG’s..

Legendary aint meant to be held by everyone therefore working hard for it and actually gaining 1 can be a monumental achievment..

I think not, you have 2 choices either keep trying and spending thousands OR just stop all together.. Same principal with one big difference, you would be throwing away VIRTUAL currency not real hard earned $$$

So back to the friendly reminder it is only a SKIN with shiny colours, so try enjoying all the game has to offer and not ruining your experience by monotonous farming or addicted gambling.. Spread it out WvWvW, PvP, PVE, DE’s, Dungeons and set yourself a limit on what to spend or throw at the forge..

To add one more point, if your determined to get one to be different and among the few people that hold one, you have no place QQ in this thread as you know what your in for and what it takes to get 1..

If you watch the slowmo, you get “miss” “block” “evade” then he hits you and at that time is revealed instantly.

stealth breaks on next HIT so miss , block and evade are not hits..

To add to that thiefs are easy to beat but you look very squishy.. you made some sort of glass cannon build?

wow, the majority of posters in this thread need to relax. I play a ranger too and of course I can see what’s not working properly, but you should play the class because you thematically enjoy it and not because it’s the fotm/quasi-op class.

mesmer : takes certain amount of skill to master, if played poorly you will know about it..

Thief: the good ones deserve credit, the “look at me mom i can spam #2” ones are just people QQ because they cant beat a thief

warrior: again a skilled player can be good, similar to mesmer but the “Savage leap > Flurry > 100B” nab is predictable and easy to beat

Guardian: Same as warrior..

Necro: Annoying at the best of times but left alone can devastate an unsuspecting group

Ranger: Find the right comfort build, playstyle can cripple a team..

I say all this and im a ranger, my statement is purely factored from PvP.. and this is what i feel… Any class can be great when played well, doesn’t mean that class is OP’ed..

Yes rangers lack a lot that other do better, they are FAR from unplayable and unusable..

I say this without offending people but if you moan and cry that ranger is useless and cant do well anywhere then you are just playing it wrong.. If you want a easy faceroll character the try a HS spam thief they seem to be the usual route..

If you want to stick by your ranger and try harder then may i suggest the trait most overlooked and not understood.. BM is still very much useful and working well..

Yes the pets can be dumb but control them, choose the right combination of pets and they shine..

Yes ive played every class, learned their weak points and their strengths what they can and can’t do, that gives me the advantage.. Anticipation is your strongest weapon..

Id like to add 1v1 i rarely loose unless the opponent is exceptional, thats just how powerful BM can be if built right..

On a sidenote in PVE the whole game is pretty much easy with any class..

What is my role in the team?

When it comes to condition damage, Necro’s are superior to Ranger because of the AOE and awesome utility synergies. Engi’s are also better than Rngrs in this regard, by being able to apply many conditions very quickly.

Power builds for ranger exist, but are inferior/inefficient compared to those those of the other clasess. Warrior has good AOE pwr dmg, Thiefs have stealth and massive crit and mobility, Mesmers can build glass and can have enough utility to get away with it.
At most rangers have a 6 sec invul that requires you to use a bear, or a stone signet that also must be traited into.

When it comes to Support or Bunker, the ranger is not even a candidate in my eyes, with little access to stability, and condi removal.

In summation, I just feel that if I want to bring something to my team, be it Pwr, Condi, Support or Bunker, you are better off playing a different class. This is the biggest issues I want to see fixed.

Yea that about sums up ranger atm, no viable builds.

I agree also. I but there is a very effective BM build on gw2guru and it owns…. The spike dmg from my ravens coupled with the blind is very effective and I don’t believe I’ve lost a single 1v1 since using it….
