Sorry, but that’s your own fault. It’s a game, it’s your leisure, don’t feel obligated.
Give me one good reason as to why the crown pavillian is temporary.
Also it’s not the OP fault at all, the OP has paid money to play this game but is basically being forced in playing it due to temporary decisions. Now I personally don’t mind some temporary content but now Anet are just at a stage where they’re saying “so what can be temporary” and then just picking random bits of an update to make temporary.
Colin has just said there will be more permanent content and straight away we can see this is a lie by needlessly making new content temporary. It’s scaring players away and making new players think twice about buying the game.
The thing I’m wondering about is if champions will have a chance to drop unique skins like Colin said in the blog post, while it does say “and more!” at the end of the description you’d think unique skins would be something they’d add onto it.
I can’t believe people are actually defending temporary content. My friend is away from home right now and will be untill this arch is over, so he’ll miss it which is a shame because its one of the best updates we’ve had.
Now imagine that we get to fight Kralkatorik, or any other elder dragon in the living story. Do you reall think its fair that only the people who are playing at the time get to experience THE MAIN PLOT OF THE GAME?
And yet you come onto the forums to see most people defending temporary content because “having too much content is bad” and “it’s realistic”. Well i’ve got news for you guys, more content IS better, and I don’t play games to simulate real life.
Imagine if all the content we’ve had so far wasn’t temporary. 2 new dungeons, events on southsun that matter, a new area, Crab toss, story instances… The list goes on.
Making people do content that is temporary and not in there own time-frame is work, not fun, contrary to what Vayne said earlier.
I guarantee you content to fight an elder dragon won’t be temporary. I think you’re missing the entire point.
First, this content is like a festival. It’ll be back. There’ll be an opportunity to trade again with these people, just like SAB will be back. They’re making content which can be rotated in and out.
But when the main storyline is involved, that content won’t be temporary. You’re simply inventing something to try to prove a point. The stories in the Living World are intentionally left as not part of the main plot line, they’re sidelines that we can explore between major events in the world.
As such if they go away it’s not such a big deal.
Oh so Flame and Frost will come back for all those who missed it? And Sky Pirates?
There’s nothing wrong with more optional story lines in a game, unless it’s temporary so we’ll never see it again.
I’m making things up as much as you are, you don’t know what the future holds either. You can’t deny that the temporary content is making players leave the game and new players reluctant to buy it. Stop defending it so much just because Anet says it’s great.
You also haven’t given us one good point as to why temporary content is good.
It’s why I’m quitting.
If previous temporary content could be replayed, it would be 99% better. Maybe some sort of Asuran Historical time distortion device?
I can see why temporary content is used. It’s addictive – it keeps you wanting to complete and finish everything and you need to keep logging in to do it. That’s exactly why I hate it, and it’s driven me to hate GW2 because of it.
dailies, as they are, are another temporary content I would rather do without. If they were changed to actually be “earn while you do what you normally do”, that would be something different. You are basically admitting that this is a problem with you, not the game. Its as if you are unable to just enjoy the game and instead feel compelled to do certain things for the reward, which takes away from what you actually enjoy. So you are choosing the reward over what you actually want, which is to have fun playing the game.
I’ve seen this same behavior with people I play with, who will grind away for this or that reward only to not enjoy any of it. I’ve always felt that was a silly way to spend your time.
Oh and there we go, the “if you don’t like it don’t play it” response. My guess is he/she does like the game, but is being forced to play it due to temporary content! You actually provided no points as to why temporary content is a good thing, nice job.

Yes it is. Its very fun.
You get to choose one every 1000 achi points
Well, now I know not to spend any achievement points on them.
Ah well, at least the Greatsword skin looks awesome…
That isn’t how it works, you just unlock them after a certain amount and you get to use the skins an unlimited time.
As for them just “adding on dyes” it’s not as simple as that, if it was we would have dyeable weapons.
They’re probably busy… You know, working.
I don’t get why everyone wants mounts, they just don’t fit in guild wars. Duel system I assume will be added at one point but hopefully as a mini-game. Trade system isn’t really needed but i can see where you’re coming from. They’re obviously working to improve home instances as we’ve seen in the upcoming patch and… That was hard to read but there probably will be new races and proffessions. The game hasn’t been out a year yet, stop expecting “new races” and “new proffessions” this early. And for gods sake stop asking for mounts! This isn’t WoW or Rift.
I’m hoping the dungeon will be, but I know it won’t.
There won’t be a new dungeon it’ll be the karka event, which I think we all hope will be good, if not then GG Anet.
I honestly think people are missing the point of the OP’s point here, which wasn’t that hard to grasp anyway.
There’s something about this update that made the game seem worse, it was like a downgrade. I did Canachs story mission and I’m not sure what to even say; It was a buggy, underdeveloped, rushed mess. It took less than 5 minutes to complete and I didn’t even bother with the explorable mode.
I don’t know, I really don’t know just what the hell was going through Anets minds when they did this, I’m hoping the meta event will be somewhat entertaining but after this update I can’t see it being good at all.
This game really really needs a polish update and a million things revamped, there are so many issues (CoF, arah story, most world bosses, unique loot ect.) that need to be adressed or else this game will die, which I don’t want it to because it is a good game, but it has things killing it. There needs to be HARD compelling content that gives suitable rewards. On top of this I’m really sick to death of seeing casuals crying that they didn’t get what they wanted. If they want it, then they should work to get it. (Although fair enough to those who didn’t get anything in all this temporary nonsense.)
Yes you can. The only thing you need to do is put it in the mystic forge, making it soulbound wont stop you from doing that.

Besides Raids are simply optional tool for guilds
A lot of those games I don’t know, but Runescape? Minecraft?
1 WoW have nothing to do with it.. i can name u 20 MMOs that have raids or whatever u call it.
Name me 20 MMOs that have raids.
On top of this I want you to explain why GW2 should be like these “20” other MMOs.
Im starting to think that all that’s left are raging fanboys in the GW2 forums that aren’t open to any suggestions or changes…
But the OP didn’t really suggest any changes, he/she just insulted the playerbase and the game. The OP even implied he/she didn’t like MMOs.
GW2 does need to improve, and I can see that happening with each update, some significant some not. To say GW2 is a failure however? I think thats just silly and you’re slandering the game just to be “cool” or “edgy” because a lot of people like it.
