does exotics have a higher chance of returning ecto’s when salvaged then rares?
As far as I know you cannot get more than 3 ectos from any salvage, however, the rate of getting 3 may go up with Exotics. I don’t think it’s been tested.
Not sure if being trolled or not but, I’ll bite:
•Food items that give special bonuses upon a critical hit now have an internal cooldown before they can produce the special bonus again.
They fixed that
Omnomberry pie now has a cool down so it triggers less often for exactly this reason.
Ah, I didn’t even notice that ;-; I looked down through them and even did a CTRL+F for Omnomberry >.< That is good then, but I hope they work on balancing out the roles in a group.
I love the changes in this patch (At least the ones that affect me) but I did have a few questions if anyone in Anet could answer them (And granted that I am actually supposed to post something like this here?).
I understand that I can not ask you a direct question as there are some things you do not wish to reveal and others you do not even know for sure. In that regard, I would like to ask if the devs in charge of such things understand that Omnomberry Pies are creating a problem? They allow classes with no defense to in fact have the highest survivability and can even preform game breaking things such as fully heal yourself using the Axe 5 skill and others. Do you see this as an issue? Are you hoping to level out the roles in a group so that people can play support or control and still be effective/optimal? What can you tell me and other concerned individuals about the imbalance in classes currently? Would you consider adding a cooldown to Omnomberry Pies so that they are not so over powered?
Thank you for your time if you answer these, and a thousand apologies if I am posting this in the wrong place. Others who share these questions and would like some answers please show your support.
I just started using the “Sonic Boon” GS build and so far I love it!
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/74697-build-sonic-boon-shout-greatsword/
So, how do you handle the ascended gear issue? (This build relies heavily on runes which ascended cannot use)
Well, it’s pretty easy to handle since there is no Ascended gear out yet that you can put runes in. It’s all Accessories, not armor.
What are these other flaws that you mentioned, dare I ask?
It’s “Sonic Boon” T.T Not Boom.
But yeah it’s on GW2guru, peace.
I only read half of this thread because I didn’t feel like wasting more time before I posted. Anyway, I love how people were/are talking about how Omnomberry Pies are balanced because everyone can get them. THey aren’t and that is frankly the worst argument ever. THere are thousands of viable builds and Omnomberry Pies make over 2/3s of them obsolete. With the pies you can heal and have better survivability than a tank or support, while retaining max damage. What to the support/tanks or hybrids get? Absolutely nothing. Perfect example: Right now Axe/Axe is better than GS because of the 5 skill. Used on just 3 mobs you can regen all of your health in seconds. If they aren’t nerfed, builds are better than other builds simply because they attack fast, all the pies need is a small internal CD.
And then people come in and talk about Retaliation? REALLY? Omnomberry pies are balanced because everyone can use them, but mass retaliation is OP? Why can’t you use mass retaliation? You say it happens all the time, but apparently not to the groups you’re in? It’s BALANCED if you’re both killing eachother. The enemy is getting hurt just as much as you.
Omnomberry pies however are OP with a fast hitting build. They do NOTHING for people that attack slower. That is what is imblanced about them. It doesn’t matter if everyone can get them, because only one type of build can use them effectively: Glass Cannon.
Personally I’m upset that my favortie warrior weapon (GS) is far far far less useful than Axe/axe simply because of a food buff. Dear god ANet please, it’s not that hard to balance it. Sigil of blood is balanced, simply take the ratio of the numbers and give Omnom’s a proper CD. It’s EASY!
Furthermore, I know that Anet doesn’t want to drag out content. There is a difference between making it difficult and dragging it out, though.
I would have much preferred for Kudu, Faolain, etc to be like “raid bosses” from WoW. They are all huge figures in the lore, and yet they are represented with a two hour dungeon and a ten minute fight!
I beg of you Anet; spread out the lore! Kudu especially was a huge villain, and killing him should have had a drastic change on the world. It would feel that way if he took two hours to kill, I guarantee it. Also, no, the fight should not last two hours. It should only last about fifteen minuted, but it should take two hours to develop a strategy and kill the boss.
Please consider Prismatic’s thoughts! Make bosses more challenging, and make highly lore-important individuals stand out. Not only via a unque set of skills and harder mechanics, but by making them the result of a built up war effort. Right now, the build up for killing Zhaitan is in the Personal Story, and it shouldn’t be! It should be in the dungeon, killing hard bosses to progress and fight a war.
I agree completely. What I’d really like to have is a reason to keep me fighting. Gear treadmills would actually be preferable to the current system for me, simply because it means that I’m fighting bigger and better bosses.
I believe an important part of any MMO is keeping the players really interested in the content (Even though some people disregard the lore and play for WvW and/or sweet loots). A huge part of WoW for me was the lore. Killing even an unimportant boss felt like a major step for the cause and more importantly, I felt like the world was really in danger. I felt this way because the bosses took a long time to kill! You had to have a strategy, and you had to be good. Killing a boss in WoW really felt like I was acomplishing something sort of like, “The world just got a little bit better now that that guy is dead!” I don’t get this feeling with GW2, simply because everything is so kitten easy to kill.
As it is now, I can walk into Arah with four other people and kill bosses with ease. I don’t feel like I’m a hero, or that the boss was any great threat. These are high ranking Risen minions with enough power to be in Zhaitan’s personal frivolous smelly corpse palace! Shouldn’t it take more than five minutes for five “adveturers” to dispatch them?
So far the whole game has been about working together towards the common goal of the Elder Dragons. That’s why we have an army in our Personal Story; to prove that we’re not the only ones fighting, even if we are the “star of the show”. I want it to be difficult for my team of five adventurers to slay a huge monstrous Risen threat. The work up to a final boss should not be gratifying, not more trash!
I’m really sorry to necro this, but I was reading through these comments and man I just need to lay down this point >:o
Even Eir could arm-wrestle Logan and win. Come on the guy’s a puny human.
In CoF Logan saves Rytlock when he is falling. This is a 500-700 lbs cat man, complete with very heavy armor and weaponry (Not to mention the falling momentum and etc). He saved and pulled Rytlock up without too much difficulty. Clearly Logan is in the top tier of Humans.
He’s as strong as any other member of Destiny’s Edge.
IWAY was also in GW2 for a while, they took it out due to it being fairly useless. You need to kill an enemy to rally your allies, and chances are if you kill the enemy your allies will rally anyway. Not to mention it would be mostly useless in boss fights. But the icon for it is sick, and if they just removed freaking Juggernaut that no one ever uses, they could put in a smart, useful, balanced shout elite. Banner healing builds have BS, shout healing builds shout get an Elite too!
Right? It would be sweet if it rezzed all downed or defeated allies in range, and then gave you and the resurrected allies boons based on how many you rezzed.
I also love the icon of IWAY! though the skill itself is sorta getting into Battle Standards niche, it would be cool if it did something based on Adrenaline level, since many shout builds run max adrenaline.
They lowered the static noise, it used to be really really bad, now it’s ok.
I’m sure it’s already been stated, but please remove Juggernaut and put in an Elite shout. Nobody ever uses Juggernaut because it is boring, useless, and ineffective. An Elite shout would increase team support and your own damage. The shout needs to be on a short cooldown like Signet Of Rage, last fairly long, and affect allies. It should be like a less powerful Battle Standard with a shorter cooldown. I’m thinking “Never Surrender!” 80 second cooldown, needs to give might and fury, maybe some other buffs. Maybe a neat little niche ability like Battle Standards rezzing of allies.
I’m not entirely sure, but I think everyone will agree that Juggernaut just sucks, and a Shout Elite is very much wanted by the community.
I’d like to point out that Legendary weapons are for looks only, and many of the Engineer kits look better than the Legendaries. Personally I wish Predator was a Flamethrower, not the other way around.

Please go here to support a change to the Human Racial elites, the change will be awesome and useful. Thank you.

Please see this link for my suggestion on changing 2 of the human racial skills. The change would be awesome, and useful. Thank you.
Alright, this is basically going to be a huge wall of text, so forgive me for that.
First off I’d like to say job well done on most of the human racial skills. Dwayna makes sense, as does Lyssa. Hounds of Balthazar are awesome, and Reaper of Grenth really gives you that “Shadowy Death God” feel.
Two of the racials though, are strange and mostly not useful. Kormir and Melandru. Kormir doesn’t really make a lot of sense, or provide any cool sense of “Yeah, this is the God I am blessed by!”. Kormir is the Justice god, previous leader of the Sunspears, and you guys have her.. Removing conditions? I’d like to pause on this and move to Melandru. Firstly, this skill is nigh useless, the cast times only allow you to get off one or two of the useless skills (If you don’t get interrupted). Plenty of classes have skills equal to or greater than Melandru’s in their weapon skills, let alone their utilities, and those skills don’t have 20 second CD’s and 5 second cast times! Melandru is the “Ranger God” and no ranger in their right mind would ever be caught dead using this skill, EVER. Now don’t get me wrong, the skill is cool, it’s just pathetic and useless as a skill. Hounds of Balthazar and Reaper of Grenth not only out shine it in usefulness, but also in coolness and the ability for their classes (Warrior/Necromancer) to use them effectively.
Solution #1: Switch them. Not many people actually like Melandru, except Ranger’s. So making an Elite based around probably one of the least favored gods is just not a good thing to do. Kormir is fairly popular, being the new and awesome god, ex-mortal, etc. A Kormir Elite would be awesome and I think many players would love to see this. Imagine the wings as seen in the attachment, except on the player, and possibly giving us a golden glow and some other neat effects. It would look something like the Paladin’s Avenging Wrath from WoW. Obviously the greatest thing about this skill is that it would be a shout out (Get it? Shouts!) to the Paragon of GW1, and I’m sure people would LOVE that (I know I would). So there are two options for this skill, you can make it a short lived Avatar state, that has group buffing shouts (We retain the supportive qualities of Melandru’s elite) or a slightly longer stat buffing skill, giving bonuses to supportive qualities (Toughness, Vitality, Healing), and maybe even radiating boons (Like a reverse RoG). Either one of these would be praised by the community, and I am positive that no one will care if you shove Melandru into the Utility category, removing three conditions or snaring an enemy like the Sylvari Racial. I can let you know right now that if you made a short lived avatar state, sort of like a Guardian Tome Elite, where I got several powerful shouts (That activated shout traits) I would never turn back. Then this skill would be AS COOL as the Hounds and RoG, and more importantly AS USEFUL.
Solution #2: Make the Kormir Elite, and keep the Melandru one around too, except buff it some. I figure you guys worked a decent amount to make that racial, and Norn’s have four Racial Elites, so why not us Humans too?
Please Anet, I’m almost positive I speak for 95% of the community when I tell you that Avatar of Melandru is a worthless skill that is clearly not intended for “it’s profession” (Ranger). I am also quite certain that many people wanted a Paragon Class in GW2, and were sad to not get one. This would DEFINITELY make it up to all those people, I know it would for me. A Racial Elite that brings back your memories of the Paragon, supporting the group and being a Sunspear. Not to mention if this Elite would use Shouts, and the shouts in it were affected by traits, it would be an AWESOME edition to Warrior and Guardian Shout Support builds.
I’m no expert on balancing things, but I know that an elite that throws out group buffs and works with traits and all this other stuff would be fairly OP. So I’m going to try to help out with that.
I’m thinking the Cooldown should be 180 seconds and the duration as 20 seconds, the same as Melandru. Obviously making the shouts it has be affected by traits is an awesome but dangerous slope. However, we should keep in mind that you can Buff the Hounds of Balthazar, give them quickness and everything, and I would assume condition duration and other things affect the RoG, not to mention Thief traits for chilled/poisoned targets greatly boost its usefulness. I am unsure what the skills would be, maybe popular shouts or other paragon skills that you haven’t already put in GW2 (Looks at SY!).
Again, I just think this is an awesome idea, and I’m sure many will agree with me. If not about the Kormir Elite they will almost definetly agree that the Melandru elite is pathetic, and does not work at all for it’s class.
