I created an engineer before creating a ranger. The engineer is huntsman and leathersmith, while the ranger is cook and artificer. It makes more sense to me for the ranger to be leathersmith and huntsman – it’s a preference, nothing more. I haven’t found a way to “swap” crafting professions. Is there a way to do this, even if I have to buy something from TP?
Smiley’s suggestion didn’t work for me. HOM calculator still broken on Firefox, Chrome, and IE on all my systems.
The “nearest target” function is still horribly broken, even after several recent game updates. Fixing this should be a high priority, given the frustration it causes players. I have a habit of pressing the ‘C’ key (mapped to the closest target function) then immediately performing an action – that’s gotten me into more trouble than I’d like to admit. I find it especially annoying when I die as a result.
Same thing happened to me (4 months later). I could not even get to the chests, as if there were an invisible barrier. I restarted and got it. The issue is not resolved, but there is a (long-ish) workaround.
Even with the 4pm PT daily reset, I have gotten no chest on 3 or more occasions (Tequatl and/or Shatterer). I think it’s still bugged. If it’s not based on a 4pm PT reset, but instead on a per-character 24 hour clock, Anet should say so, where all players can find it.
Also, if I get (gold in) the event, but get no chest, I have to wonder if that counts towards resetting the clock. Wouldn’t surprise me.
Update: I ran through it again with a guild mate. Huge difference over my solo attempt. Until Jeffrey Vaughn’s fix sees the light of day, just get someone to go with you. Focus on the veterans first. Use Gorr’s (vaccumatic …) gun for fun.
I’m doing it right now. Having no success at all. Armor pretty much a mess. I’ve done it on several other characters in the past. It’s NOT fixed, that I can tell.
Gold reward but no chest on Shatterer twice in as many days and attempts. An explanation from those in the know would certainly help.
My wife and I also made it without falling to our deaths, yet did not get credit. I have to wonder if there is something more to the achievement that we just don’t know about.
Personally, I really like the idea of giving the Engineer a reliable long-range weapon, given that his regular weapons are more of a mid-range thing. I especially like the idea of using Trick Arrows, as some here called it.

It doesn’t make much sense to me that a longbow has greater range than a good rifle.
