What I meant to say was, like your porno mag, this game is best enjoyed alone.
I Play with my friends all the time in SMITE!
But the game was already released and has sold most of its copies. Why would they want to dump more resources into improving a game that has already sold its copies and has very little potential for increasing revenues when they could just dump their resources into GW3 or whatever other release they are planning in the future?
Sure GW2 has pvp potential, but the same argument can be made for just about every game on the market. The thing is, the game has already released, those folks who were interested in it, have already bought it, and by the time Anet (big IF) makes improvements most folks will have already moved on and GW2 will only be a memory.
Thanks, I thought it was pretty awesome too. They may want to think about buffing rouges a little bit more. This should be unexceptable.
900 games played on my warrior and the first time I downed a rogue 1v1 was today. Don’t get me wrong there have been hundreds of times where I have come very close in 1v1 situations to downing a rogue (thief) on my warrior but either the match got interfered with or the rogue…thief ran. BTW, I use a hammer.
OP, check your mailbox, there was a memo that went out to all warriors that said, “since all other classes will be out running you, out damaging you, and out mitigating your damage, we would like to take this opportunity to advise you to be sure to bring your friend everywhere you go so that he can make up for your lack of usefulness.”
With each rank rising in experience needed, and most matches producing anywhere between a paltry 100-150 glory, I believe someone in my guild calculated it out at near a half million games played to reach max rank (which isnt even a goal I care about). At 15minutes a match, of the same maps thats…insanity.
If this is true than it would require approx 1,875,000 hours or 78,000 days or 214 years of game time to achieve level 50.
Someone just told me that the only way to get ranked is to pay money in tournaments. Is this true?
Warcraft 3 had a similar system where standard competitive game play was based on a ladder – match making system with the occassional tournament, hosted by Battlenet that anyone could enter. Tournaments would begin with a knockout round and the competitors with the most points (wins) would advance to play in a bracket. The bracket results were available to the public along with replays of many of the games. I thought this was a great system and it was all done about 10 years ago.
Another thing I can’t understand is why Anet does not provide in game voice chat for sPVP.
None of this stuff is new!
This thread should be locked and or deleted. Shame on you for trying to outdo Anet and make pvp interesting!
The game desperately needs dueling. If it were me I would implement this feature ASAP and make the Mist area where the gear and game merchants are located a restricted dueling area. I think it would be awesome to breath some life into this area. So many people just come and go and hardly anyone says a word to one another. This could really help initiate some conversation among the pvp community.
Other sPVP formats are a must!
Maybe I just haven’t had enough exposure to gw2 pvp but the encounters just feel way too chaotic and not very meaningful.
Dioga is right, for the most part people will choose to build their characters from one extreme to the other. Not to mention it is much easier to balance a game that only consists of Classes A, B, and C than it is to balance a game with classes A-Z. I think that your idea could result in some unique encounters and play styles, but like the old song goes if – anything you can do I can do better – why would anyone want you over me? If you don’t believe me just ask the Ranger.
Change from Guild Wars to Thief Wars. No seriously, every pug game that I play has at least half of the players using thieves. I am in a rotation right now with 12 Thieves and that is out of 16 players! UGGGHHH
I was playing as an Elementalist and had swiftness + my trait that increases run speed by 25% but was caught from behind by a thief?
I am pretty new to the game and chose the elementalist as my first class to play. I played a couple weeks and just started disliking this game way too much, then I switched to a thief and have been playing as a thief all day. I LOVE IT! Anyway I am just excited so figured I would share.
Problem with this game is that the pvp just pretty much just stinks. I am just bummed that I spent 50 bucks on it thinking that it might be a cool change from fps games, but after a couple weeks of game play this thing is going nowhere fast. On a side note, I do dig the mesmer and rogue. If you aren’t playing one of these two classess you got to check them out. I haven’t tried the guardian but they seem solid from what I have seen.
“It’s a way of weeding out the not so good teams so that paid tourneys become a place for good teams only. But this will obviously take time.”
So you are saying once they have weeded out the not so good teams they will start skipping rounds one and two?
