What is the rifle HGH build if you don’t mind me asking?

Not worried so much about expensive, as i have a full set of ascended trailblazer, and full set of marauder, so i can swap pieces to other stats if and where needed.

I was more interested in the idea of hybrid for when i roam. as it seems going hybrid would help deal with everyone being a thief, warrior, or other cancerous class. (oh wait that’s everything except engi

Curious if anyone is playing a “fun” rifle build. I have played scrapper hammer for a while now, and am honestly bored. Especially with the fact that no group of 10+ seem to want me, so am looking for something “fun” and hoping rifle might be that.

The range of it attracts me, though i am unsure of even where to start. Is hybrid rifle any good for decent ranged / condi on crits? (firearms traits)

I am not looking to beat everyone, as i know i do not have the skill, nor the time to develop the skill to do so. I just want something that is fun, that i can zerg surf, and scout a bit etc.. if i decide to roam so be it, i know i won’t last long :P

All advice and build suggestions are more than welcome!

Hello, name is Unfocused, but most call me Focusd. I am currently looking for a EU guild to join ( server is not the issue so much as people to have fun with ) I main a ranger atm and my second love is my engi. I am looking for a guild that enjoys havocing, small group play, and just in general WvW fights. I am a NA person, but play during EU times as i generally work evening. Not looking to be hardcore, but just have some people to have fun with when i am online. I have always been interested in aspects of PvE (fractals, possibly raids) but like to stick to one character, which lately has been my ranger/druid.

A big thing for me, is i want a guild that likes to defend things. If we have a t3 keep, i want to defend it, not just say " to many not going to try".

Willing to transfer to any server depending on the guild etc
VERY active. I play AT LEAST 5 days a week, and sometimes even more when the girlfriend allows! (happy wife happy life)

Curious if anyone has used a rifle build with any moderate success in WvW? Not looking to be the king of all, but looking for a small change from scrapper hammer engi. I prefer power, otherwise id just roll condi.

Hello all i am Frocusd. Most have called me Focusd over the years in various games, but since i play an asura with an afro i went with Frocusd.

Anyways, i am a recent transfer to Piken from the NA server’s. I play generally from 8am till about 1pm Pacific time ( roughly sea time, till just before EU prime )

I am looking for a tight knit group, people who LOVE WvW as it is what i do 95% of the time. I play a Scrapper engi main and would prefer to only play scrapper my way. I would be willing to play something else (id prefer a mesmer, or power necro if you let me choose) but again would prefer to continue to perfect my skills on scrapper engi.

I manage a restaurant so my play times are not always super consistent so i prolly should not be in a hardcore gvg style guild. I just want to log on, kill some enemies and have some fun.

Feel free to message me in-game if you think i might be a good fit for your guild. I play almost everyday during the times above so you should be able to catch me at some point. Or feel free to post here and i will check it when i am bored at work, or when i am home

I personally run S/F in WvW. Celestial trinkets is fine.
First question is do you have HOT and will you PvE and/or craft for gear?
I use staff in tower and keep combat but prefer roaming.
I run more strange personal builds but am effective.
Usually i would advice you to get maurauder weapons and armor to your celestial trinkets for WvW power focused staff ele and can use that for fresh air S/F too. Berserker stats are more for PvE but shure can be use in WvW too if you can handle lower HP.

I guess we are not on at the same time as you (i am EU) but if yes we can chat in-game or TS.

Yes i have HoT, and can/will craft armor. Sorry did not see this earlier!

@Wolfric – i’ve looked at alot of your builds, and actually think i will probably run them as i just cannot get in the habbit of anything other than scepter. Not to mention it is my first legendary and i love to use it. lol

@Vesica tempestas – I was looking at a condi ele setup actually as it sounded quite interesting, because u really can go hybrid on an ele and it works out quite well. Curious what utilities you use though?

@Noble – You are a legend in the ele world, i know that just from being a silent reader of the forums, i have looked at d/d a few times i just have a hard time being in melee all the time.. it just simply does not feel right too me. I used to play alot of scepter dagger LONG time ago before i took a 2 yr break from the game. Will look into messaging you in-game smetime to pick ur brain

Are there any viable staff builds for WvW that are not just heal bots?

Is Scepter Focus any good for WvW smallscale / solo roaming?

I play at odd times, so i am looking for something that i can solo with, but at the same time still be useful to a group or friends with as well. I’d prefer to stick with scepter or staff if possible…

P.S. i already have all celestial jewelry. Any and all advice is welcome as i am having a hard time getting any help in-game

Just recently returned to the game and was thinking about running a Dragonhunter build. Atm i am running the medi trapper build that is on metabattle – but am looking to see if there is any possible way to run Longbow + Mace/Shield, and if there is some sort of build that is viable for that weapon setup? I’d still think i could run traps and a medi or 2. Just curious of people’s opinions and or options that are out there. This is generally speaking for WvW / random PvE.

Hello all! just recently came back to the game, and am looking at trying to roll a Rifle Warrior for WvW play. While i know it is probably not the most viable, i am looking for fun, and to me, the idea of a Rifle warrior just seems fun.

Where i am having trouble is how to build for that, should i be going full zerker? is there a rather generic trait setup someone knows that i can start with looking at? Any and all help is welcome, also curious about the off-set idea. maybe hammer for the damage/cc?

Would you modify this build in any way for WvW use?? it looks really interesting thats for sure. I’d be curious how you’d gear etc for WvW – possibly celestial?

If i were to build for scepter/pistol and greatsword as second set, would u suggest i focus on chrono line, with maybe a focus on mantras? and the one that gives daze a chance to stun? Sorry i dont know the trait lines, as i am not at home, so can’t reference anything.

Thanks a bunch Crowley, that makes total sense, and i think im going to follow that what you’ve semi suggested. I do enjoy the greatsword, was just worried that the sword mainhand would be considered a must. I enjoy Scepter/pistol the most thats for sure. i like the range, and the cc, and gs will only further make that work for me. I think i’ll put together some sort of shatter build and run those weapons and see what happens. i haven’t been back long enough to fully grasp whats good and what isnt, so i suppose starting kittenter ( im at least semi familiar ) is a good place to begin

Makes sense, all points seem to say that i’d be better off with nearly any and all mesmer specs other than a phant setup. Here’s an odd question..

Is there such a thing as a power build that uses scepter?

I know thats an odd question, i just like the midrange/range fight of the scepter, but dont generally care for condi’s, so is this even a possible option? maybe scepter/shield with gs, or sword/torch?

I’d even consider scepter/torch or something. i know. im asking for too much.. lol

Ahh, very good points made there @Apharma – would u suggest more of a shatter setup? is there some sort of viable setup using scepter/pistol ?? im really enjoying scepter, even as a power setup the number 3 hits effing hard. lol

While i know phant setups are not the most optimal for WvW, i generally speaking just enjoy the unique factor. i know i know, is being unique really worth not being always “viable?” well in my head, i enjoy filling a niche role, whatever that role is, i wanna be the best i can at it.

Thanks for the build, that is honestly exactly what i am looking for,. i enjoy having lots of cc’s and lockdowns, and imo if someone runs away, ill call that a victory in my head!

As far as weapons, i have actually been toying with sword/sword and scepter/pistol as a combo atm, and really enjoy how scepter/pistol feels. sword/sword gets a bit trickier, because in my own mind im a ranged kite kind of player, and its been a hard go trying to find what fits me best.

Title says the general purpose, looking to see if there is such a thing as a viable phanstasm Mesmer setup for WvW and some sort of pve.

Curious if sword/sword and sword/shield would be viable? that seems like a lot of blocks for wvw, along with sme strong phants, possibly sword/sword and sword/pistol ??

Title says it mostly, i am just returning to the game from about a 2 year break. I’ve picked up HoT and been playing a few days, in which i switched from my engi to an ele. My question is this..

1. Are there any semi Unique builds that are viable in WvW? or is it staff to win?
2. Is scepter viable at all in WvW? it used to be a weapon i enjoyed a ton, as a semi midrange caster type.
3. is Scepter / Dagger viable these days? or do most go a variation of Sc/F or Sc/W?

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Just attempting to find my nitch. Not really interested in PvE. So i’d say ill be doing 80% WvW and 20% Spvp.

Decided to give guild wars 2 another try, with the sole focus on coming back to my engie and relearning the game.. prior to HoT i ran a Flamethrower setup with rifle in WvW and completely loved it, the mid-range fight style was awesome, and i felt unique yet still useful.. Questions are as follows..

1. Is Rifle/Flamethrower at all viable in wvw/pve?
2. What would be a said build to use if question one’s answer is no?
3. I’ve read alot about scrapper hammer setups, is it really that good?
4. Where should i start as a returning engi to the game? tips? tricks? things to focus on?

Here’s the build I’ve come up with for p/p WvW. I generally roam/scout/small havoc things and really enjoy the pistol ( currently am p/d dire condi ) but am looking to change it up to p/p ( just got Quip, so wanna keep it being used )

Yea, I do know its a “weaker” weapon set than most, with that said, I could still seeing it being viable in a havoc grp etc, with rictochet, and possibly venom share. not sure how good the heal on venom procs are, but the venom heal has been amazing for me thus far.

Threw this together real quick, trait layout looks decent, would give me heals on venom use, heals from % of crit dmg, 4 heals from venom heal skill, heals from food. Power is a bit low, and am unsure if the rune choice is worth it, or will be overkill.

Thanks for the replies all, I generally play during early morning NA 10am pacific till around 4pm pacific. and often times log on after work around 11pm pacific. Almost NEVER am on during NA prime, if that helps any.

From the suggestions so far, Fort Aspenwood, Yak’s Bend and Crystal Desert seem to be the top dogs. and yes, I’d prefer not to be in t1, as I want to add value to my team, not just simply be a +1 to the blob

Not sure, was considering the healing power would boost maybe the venom heal if I chose to use that, or even just the heal itself, otherwise the healing power would essentially be a waste I guess, unless healing power would affect the heal amount from the on crit heal food.

Curious if the thief community think’s P/P SB celestial would be viable for small scale WvW? Reason I ask, is I really like pistol’s, and in turn am very close to getting my Quip, and seeing as I’ve worked so hard to get the leggy, I’d like to put it to good use.

P/P was semi successful in Spvp, as people don’t expect the burst most of the time, I understand that it can be a bit lacking in the defensive department, but possible food/runes can make up for that in WvW? essentially, just curious on other’s thoughts. Also considered running heal on crit food, for maybe a bit of sustain.

Looking to transfer to a sedrver that has a very tight knit WvW community.. for example, has small gank groups that run together.. people that defend the things they take etc. It seems atm that whenever I’m on, my server is karma training with an uplevel as the commander. It gets frustrating for me, because I will literally drop and build 4-5 superior ac’s so that we have a fighting chance, but they will just let It flip without so much as even a call..

Currently am a fresh 80 thief, looking at running S/D in WvW. am running 2/6/0/2/4 as it was recommended by a thief that I played with in a lot of spvp as I was trying to learn the class a bit.

Running runes of strength, fire sigil with battle and energy and battle on offset (sb)

Am curious to suggestion’s at playing this build to its fullest potential. Any combo’s I should know about? im running full valk gear, with zerker trinkets, and I seem to be dieing a lot, is this user error? or more so, my gear?

Makes total sense, thanks for the replies! I’ve been playing d/d today as well, trying to get better at it, and make sure I don’t just waste cooldowns and stuff. Still pretty bad at it in my opinion, and feel fairly useless when playing in larger groups of 15-20 as d/d, but I suppose everything excels at certain things. Also having a very hard time with zerker rangers but that’s prolly to be expected

Hrm, I generally speaking enjoy the fact that scepter offers me some range. I’ve never been very good at up close characters, and more often than not feel I need range to feel “comfortable”. I guess I could also run some sort of staff builds as well, I guess there are just so many options im a bit confused as to which I like. I do like that scepter has great burst, as big numbers are always fun, and so is just absolutely blowing stuff up. Is the only fresh air setup 0/6/0/4/4 ?? Do I just need to accept the fact that if I run s/f ill be slow? or would you all recommend s/d?

Playing around with d/d tonight, and its pretty fun, tho im still confused by being up close and personal :P

Curious if anyone know’s if a Phantasm build is viable for roaming / small man / 10-15 man wvw? I’ve been having a hard time after being away from the game for over a year and a half re-adjusting to a Shatter glass build, and was leaning towards phantasm’s as im a sucker for high dmg numbers and all..
