Siege Repair Hammer - Feedback

I just tried out repair hammers in the last few days. They are really no big deal. You end up using all your supply with them in less than a minute and if the siege weapon is under heavy fire, it still dies. So not only did your team lose the siege, but you wasted supply.

Romance Repetition

“I don’t like social agendas in my entertainment. I just want to be entertained, not proselytized to.”

Funny. Is there any dialogue in the game that talks specifically about gay rights or issues? No. Nobody’s shoving an agenda down your throat. Just because there are some prominent lesbian relationships doesn’t mean the designers are proselytizing. If they were, there would be specific discussion about homosexual versus heterosexual relationships. In reality, the words gay and lesbian are not used and there is no such discussion.

Gay relationships, like other kinds of consensual adult relationships, are just another banal fact of life. When you stop recognizing it as something to be pointed out just because it’s there and you find it so different or being shoved down your throat, then you can truthfully say you’re not a homophobe.

Huh, now if I tell you I feel like that Quaggan romance between heterosexual Peneloopee and Bloomanoo is being shoved down my throat with a political agenda…is that right?

So, now we have had TWO prominent lesbian romances:

1. Caithe and Faolin
2. Marjory and Kasmeer

And no heterosexual romances “in the spotlight,” or other species, or….
I’m not saying they don’t exist. We have the backdrop romance of Logan and the Queen, for instance, and the two cooing quaggans in the refugee camp, together since the Tower of Nightmares.

But none of them have had much spotlight. But now we have had two that seemed to get more spotlight than the rest, both lesbian romances.

To preface my own personal attitude and to hopefully deflect accusations of homophobia, I could’t care LESS what someone’s sexual proclivities are, as long as the people are all consenting adults. I’ve been friends with homosexuals, swingers, BDSMers, the list goes on and on.

But I also know that the mainstream IS heterosexual. And having now TWO lesbian romances back to back in the stories as the closest thing to a spotlight romance does now raise my eyebrow: it feels like it’s a social agenda being pushed.

I don’t like social agendas in my entertainment. I just want to be entertained, not proselytized to.

So why now two of these in a row? If the story writers were just trying to write something “different,” they could have mixed it up. Why not a romance in a different species, or in BETWEEN two species? For example, Braham and Rox!

I’d love to see a quaggan/skritt romance, just because I think it would be hysterical.

I’m just saying, it seems/feels now after two of these prominent that its a social commentary. If not, why two of these back to back? If so, well, please, we don’t need to have a social commentary shoved down our throats. Just entertain us, and if adding in romances, remember who the MAJORITY is, or at least mix it up with other romances, such as the type we would not normally see.

Norn/quaggan? Human Charr? Golem/Asura? :-D

And actually, someone else I saw posted here they felt the lesbian scenes weren’t for a social agenda but for the pandering to the “fanboy” out there, and why didn’t he get to have two men in a romance? His question, not mine, but I did find it an interesting one.

Anyway. I’m just saying. I’m interested in hetero romances, not homosexual ones… or romances that we couldnt see in the real world. Have one lesbian romance if you need it, but please remember that the majority of people ARE hetero, and we would like to have our interests “pandered” to as well.

And it doesn’t mean we are homophobic. We just happen to have our own interests in what we like.

Heck, last time I saw the two quaggans at the refugee camp, the female quaggan, on saying she hated scarlet and wished she would DIE, I thought she sounded borderline ready to transform to that Piranha Hulk state that I thought it would have been cool for her to show up ready to chew on Scarlet some!

(as a side note, I did find it interesting that Marjory appeared not lesbian, but pansexual; she appeared to flirt with anything that moved; I would have found it far more interesting if she DID flirt with just about everything, and thus took more time to get closer to Kasmeer, maybe even have some friction about it in the beginning…. and Scarlet’s crack about dating Caithe in the Aetherblade dungeon was hysterical too! )

And here I’m concerned that the politically correct crowd is going to attack me for this post… but like I said, I don’t care about people’s proclivities in general… after all, I have a “proclivity” that I’m not going to discuss here. I just think that two in a row for a game like this is a bit odd and eyebrow-raising. Next storyline, think we can steer away from a third repetition and give us something a little different?

Official Episode 6 Feedback Thread: One Path Ends

Probably the weakest episode to date, in fact of all the Seasons. The first episode I can say I found more wrong than right and just didn’t find enjoyable and I include the map in that.
- The puzzle element didn’t really bother me, but will end up being too annoying for most. There really was no need for it other than to antagonise players - Why is my Norn a member of the Shining Blade? This whole sequence was heavily contrived just to satisfy our own curiosity about the Exemplar. There really didn’t need to exist an oath and weird instance for them to tell us what they were up to. Killing mursaat is hardly a shocking reveal after all. - The map is a bit more interesting than most Orr areas, but lacked any depth and consequently felt rushed and doesn’t encourage as much repeat play as the others. I could never visit here again and not feel I miss out. Balthazars area is particularly overtuned – all I saw was dead bodies everywhere. The map was a great excuse to really and thoroughly explore a great deal of lore on the Gods which it never took. We also seem to rather easily cleanse Risen corpses without fully explaining why (unless I missed something. It just felt too easy) - How did Braham just walk up to and surround Jormag with an army? The whole build up until now is that you can’t just walk up to a fully active Elder Dragon. That has literally been a major theme in the first 2-3 years of the game. Then he writes us a letter instead of killing him whilst having the chance. What? - Last instance. The mobs have too much HP although the mechanics are OK. The biggest issue in the last instance is that she dies to quickly from the sparks whilst charging up her magic to destroy the shield. I spent half an hour constantly rezzing her since the sparks wont aggro away. - Interesting cutscene to end on, but still feels like we are mid season Overall, I thought this episode was pretty terrible. NEver felt like a finale, the map was weak compared to the other 5 and the story brought in yet another mini story thread instead of keeping on point and rushing through 3 GW1 characters just to get them done and out of the way.

Season 2 as a story was much stronger – it kept to a solid narrative thread without diverting off unless it was relevant to do so. And it had a finale with a solid lead in to get excited about the expansion. The ending here was a bit flat

Apologies, id love to give more positive feedback, but unlike any of the others, there just wasnt anything fun here and im really disappointed this wasnt an avtual finale.

I’m stuck with the bug on the final fight, but otherwise I also found this episode weak. Nothing as spectacular as The Head of the Snake and the buildup to that.

- The new map doesn’t seem to have much thought put into the Renown Heart quests, although I did rather enjoy the event of gathering in the air. I actually think the old Orr maps are more complex overall in their events and exploration.

Pet Condition Damage Needs to be Buffed

in Ranger

Pets never did great condition damage, because their attribute for it was always much lower than that of players, but the June 23 update made it even harder for them, because they can’t stack conditions high enough to do the same amount of damage they were doing before. I don’t recall the last time I saw any of my pet’s conditions do 1,000 damage per tick (maybe during Tequatl). It’s kind of weird also, because pets can often do more direct damage per hit than the Ranger, though their rate of attack is generally slower. Why not increase pet condition damage so that pets using condition damage can play on an equal footing?

And the wiki says that Illusions and Minions use their caster’s condition damage, and I know Engineer turrets use the same condition damage as their Engineers, so it isn’t fair.

I hate the loss of our extra stability (old Signet of the Wild active) and two condition removal sources (old Signet of Renewal and old Empathic Bond). Those are major losses.

Pets, Why they so slow???

Calanthe.3857

Ranger has been my main profession since starting the game and I can tell you pets are practically useless in PVP without Pet’s Prowess to speed them up. I don’t think I even use any builds without that trait anymore. The pet is half your damage, so this is really important in PvP.

Sand Giant in Dry Top Uplands

The Sand Giant was already almost impossible to defeat. Now it seems they just added a mechanic called Trapped where you get trapped under the sand and have to keep pressing Struggle to get out. My map had been fighting him for like 17 minutes and people kept getting Trapped, so we lost with him at about 10% health as he disappeared. I’m wondering why Arena Net decided to make this event impossible so hard.

My party in Caudecus’s Manor over the last 15-20 minutes keeps randomly losing people. People getting booted from the instance or party for no reason. We kept restarting the instance, then finally half of the party was randomly put in another group’s party.

  • After the ranger respawns, the pet sometimes has less than 100% health and doesn’t return until swapped twice.
  • Flame Trap disappears after like 40 seconds, unlike the other traps.
  • In sPVP, when a ranger dies, their pet often reappears where they died, setting off
Ranger traps placed by opponent right after they died, which need to be replaced.
  • Pet sometimes stops attacking certain inanimate objects and have to swap pets to make the next pet attack it.
  • The healing triggered by the Beastmastery pet trait Invigorating Bond doesn’t show up at all in combat logs.
  • Hide In Plain Sight trait description still calls it camouflage, despite the March 16 update saying it’s been changed to regular Stealth.
