Well this shows what is really important to Anet… Not the majority of the players. I would like more anet players to join in with PvP and look at what a massive toxic vortex they have created with their unbalanced matchmaking, constant swearing and aggressive behavior from players who have been trodden on by anet’s screwup. Imagine if Man U played against division 1 through 4 teams until the last couple of weeks of the season? People wouldn’t watch and the non premier level teams would quit… sounds far fetched and ridiculous? That’s precisely what anet have done
Anet doesn’t give a flying kitten or they would have done something already. There are 2 courses of action available…. 1 make lots of humorous Imgur posts about Anet employees and 2 play a different game
PvP is massively unfair, so I guess we are all going to a game where PvP should be good, like Black Desert Online that is out today… GJ Anet you ruined your own game by not listening to your players and not responding when they told you it was unfair and showed you all the proof you should need… Your players are telling you that you have messed up, but you have done NOTHING to help us, only to tell us that it SHOULD get better after a ‘while’. I will look out for the Anet redundancies in the papers as the players leave for other games. I know 6 people now who have uninstalled GW2 over this last week
After what they did to WvW and PvP? No GW2 has annoyed their players and ignored their pleas. I know 4 players that have uninstalled over rage at the new PvP kittening omnishambles. BDO is released tomorrow expect GW2 population to crash
Anet doesn’t give a flying kitten or they would have done something about the massive amount of players that hate the unbalanced system they have implemented.. laugh it up Anet employees but don’t be surprised when you are given your P45 after Black Desert comes out. There may be a small number of players here who are supporting the unbalanced system as they get to get nice win streaks but look at your stats Anet and see how your master plan is playing out
Let’s put all the selfish, I’m winning/I’m losing aside…
The current PvP tournament is very very hard on low MMR players; people in small groups and those with a high MMR are winning well over 50% of their games, meaning they are NOT being matched against people of their skill… So who is giving these players their winning streaks and the easy ride to higher divisions? The low MMR people / people who are new to the game.
There is a very sharp line here, if you get your MMR high enough you will walk through the divisions…
What Anet has done here which is classic, is that they have made this game HELL for people new to PvP or people who have a low MMR, (either through bad luck with AFKers or average/low skill).
What will happen next? Well all the new people are not going to touch PvP, why would they??? WvW has already been demolished by a short sighted strategy and now it looks like PvP is going the same way…
There is little point suggesting that maybe people should average out to win 50% of matches so that everyone enjoys PvP, Anet are not going to change anything until the next season. The forum on this will remain polarized with people losing every game complaining and people winning every game with 10+ win streaks saying that PvP is finally fixed… The balance implemented on the tournament is exactly unbalanced.
So what can you do?
If you are losing every match but you don’t usually: Get in a team with good players and play until your MMR is higher and then go back to solo q
If you are losing every match but you normally lose more than 50% of matches: Practice with friends to improve
If you are winning every match: Team up in small groups with friends who are good but are having a tough time… and don’t be bad winners, you will put off the next generation of PvP players from playing again
WvW is pretty much dying.. the populations are low and it is not incentivized…

Ohhh I see where you are taking this… That doesn’t logically pan out unfortunately.. if a good player is on a bad team vs a bad team they will run something which can carry and win, or win more than lose… If 2 teams are rubbish but one has a star player then the one with the star player’s team will obviously win more than lose. So my point stands… after 2 losses you may as well AFK the 3rd game to get 2 pips the next game and tank your MMR
So the more matches you lose the harder opponents you will face? Is there a thread explaining this?
So at the beginning of tiers in Emerald, Sapphire and all of Amber if you lose 2 matches you have NO incentive to win the next match…. If you throw the game you get an extra pip on the next win and it will dip your MMR making future matches possibly easier… Last season had a lot of people AFKing to drop their MMR so that they could get the consecutive wins they needed to zip through the tiers… not only can people still do that as the reporting system is useless (I have never heard of or seen anyone banned after being reported despite reporting a known AFKer hundreds of times with the rest of the people in the games) but it is now incentivized?
I reported a hacker in PvP using what looked like midnight 2 with a video on the ticket system early December last year and was told they would not proceed with it as it should be reported in game… I then E-mailed the video to exploits@arena.net as far as I am aware the hacker is still in game

If you hover over the chest next to the volunteer icon it tells you if you volunteer you guarantee the win bonus… yet it doesn’t… GG anet
Also the jump pads don’t always work, the start one sometimes traps you behind the signs, the games can go on 5v3 all match.
Dragonball is a great idea for a game, shame Anet didn’t bother making it properly.
Just look at the number of games people have played vs the time they have had to play them… either they have had extremely short games and not slept since the tournament has started or they are botting… please Anet, sort it out.
As the title suggests, there have been massive changes with HoT, I have played a week before commenting so I could give it a chance…
I personally find it easier to solo camps than before and towers are much much harder but sill manageable, but the vast majority of players I have spoken to find it very difficult to solo camps and haven’t even tried to solo towers because of the auto-upgrade.
Taking down a wall takes forever solo, even with a guild cata… using the front gate just isn’t viable as the guards respawn and kill the ram
Keep soloing is just insane, you can just march a golem up to the lord and press 1 until he dies but who wants to do that? You used to be able to kite the lord around and kill them but now the Perma CC they kick out is ridiculous, no exaggeration… it is ridiculous (especially in the new bay)… for a small group or for a zerg it is not an issue but soloing is just not fun, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the lord… 30 minutes of just pressing 1… without auto upgrading it didn’t used to be like this…
The size of the maps makes it very difficult for roamers and solo players to be effective especially if they don’t have perma speed increase or swiftness.
The mechanics applied to some areas mean you have to change your build/skills to effectively solo them at pace… I used to be able to keep 1 build (many different characters with different roaming builds) for the whole maps, from camp capping to soloing SM, again this is annoying for solo players but is not an issue for larger groups.
Looking at all the changes I cannot see much that has been implemented that supports solo play
Nightcapping means when a solo player logs in, in the morning they have a choice run for an eternity capping all the camps (used to be able to clear alpine BL in under 20 minutes) or spend over 20 minutes staring at the screen pressing 2 on the keyboard for every wall they want to get down… also because guild catas now need double the supply to build, it takes a long time shuttling supply to build it out… With the guards placed on the outside of the walls now this causes more issues. So to put it more clearly…. old play: 20 minutes get loads done, cap loads, get xp and loot…… new play: Spend 20 minutes pressing “2” and still not have a wall down.
In summary, with the changes solo/small scale play is not nearly as fun as it used to be, a lot of players I have spoken to don’t like some of the changes you have made, it almost feels like you are picking on solo/small groups of players
I have always felt that if a player manages to take down a massive objective by themselves or 1 player kills a large group of enemies the rewards should scale, is there something planned like this?
Is the hate for solo players going to continue? Are solo players going to get any love in future? Or do solo players need to go and find a different game to play?

Looks like Anet have made it so that each character has thier own part in bumping up the dailies reward track… I like it, I hope they keep it.
Any decent Engineer does not place their turrets in the way of cleave damage, they place them to the sides and fight just within their range. This will make no difference whatsoever to the decent PvP engineers

From logging in this morning, the nice friendly server maps are now full of very abusive people, swearing and bullying seem to be rife. Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know if ArenaNet is planning anything to fix this situation they have created? I realize that to some it is normal behavior but I stayed in my relatively low populated server because everyone was nice and friendly there… Would making it so when someone is reported and profanity is found in their chats they can be instantly banned for a short duration?
I got 2 precursors in less than 4 mins
I use this tactic in 2 scenarios. Firstly to prevent second place from catching up with my score and secondly to reduce first place lead.
Likewise I don’t take the crab from people on the lowest score if I am winning.
This has the added bonus of ragey, typically unpleasant people leaving who are better than me.
If people cannot stand others using tactics, then maybe they should play solitaire or watch Kelly Clarkson live in concert… not saying anything bad about Kelly Clarkson, she rocks……
For the whiny/ragey/unpleasant people I recommend killing the chickens in Ebonhawke
They will probably fix all of this in the new patch anyway
I have multiple characters who can all get into WvW fine, but my ranger can rarely get in. He sometimes appears floating in the orchard for a bit…. when he very rarely does get in (less than 5% of the time) he has about a 20-30 second delay on all his actions…. All my other characters do not have this problem at all, any advice?
