Barbed thorns, leaf fossils as well, just remembering now.
We had the option of donating in the guild treasury for the upgrade Guild Hall Music: Jungle Themes, required 50 Mordem Lodestones, and other materials, which have disappeared from the treasury without a refund. The upgrade is nowhere to be found either, so we’re wondering what happened there?
Just came here to post about this issue – wanted to start a new thread but I guess it fits in here as well.
I haven’t been big on the whole event, and the rewards do need some work, most of all I’m actually disappointed by the lack of karma from the events. Enemies dropping loot and/or experience usually means very little here for a level 80 character, and the primary focus is the skins you get from blooms, which you can get during the weekend event if you got just the daily chests. Not here to rant about that though.
The biggest problem I had with the implementation of this event was that if you are one of the unlucky ones that disconnect during an event, you might as well give up on the entire thing as you aren’t getting anything for finishing the event after reconnecting, no matter how many stacks you got. I’ve done the Brisban invasion today after daily reset and managed to get a disconnect after reaching 10 stacks or so. When I reconnected and finished the event with around 6 this time, I got no reward, and no daily chest either. Tried the Brisban event the next time it came into rotation, and managed to get a disconnect after only a few minutes of being in the map and getting only a few stacks. I just gave up after that. Other maps were fine so far, but for some reason I’ve been disconnecting in the Brisban one with the highest frequency (4 or so times during the weekend, though most were on the first day,
How can an event be designed without people that experience connection problems in mind after such a long time is beyond me. After all, disconnecting on a first day of a large scale event is almost a given for most nowadays, and plenty more experience that during the course of the days it’s active.
I get that most of the problems with scaling and the rewards can be easily fixed by extending the event, increasing the rewards and such, but the disconnection problem is still one that isn’t so easily fixed and requires planning ahead. So please keep that in mind when designing both one time events and events that persist (world bosses STILL have this problem).
Almost three years ago I participated in the Lost Shores one-time event and had a disconnect during the last boss fight. I could not join the map again where the event was active. So many people were in the same situation, and we had devs join the map to talk to us and try to calm down the mob of players. It wasn’t fun for anyone. This is far from what happened back then, but it is something to think about when designing events.
Hopefully this event gets more attention and we get to see it in a better light.
This is a question that has been on my mind lately, ever since they introduced the masteries and made experience redundant (at least until masteries are introduced), at least as far as level 80 characters are involved (accounts for the most of WvW playerbase, at least as far as I’ve seen, excluding Edge of the Mists).
Now that we have the mastery system, it would be logical to merge the wxp abilities into one WvW oriented mastery, and remove wxp, making the experience gained through WvW while at level 80 the only source of mastery experience (would require some balancing as to what gives said experience, same as wxp did), but would create some problems -
- the mastery system is exclusive to HoT owners
- the mastery is gated for lower level characters (unless they have another one that has trained parts of the mastery since they are account wide)
- not being able to change mastery point distributions across different characters .
If wxp stays in the game, with some of the abilities being removed, what will happen to the experience gained while in WvW?
Maybe someone who played WvW during the beta can answer, I haven’t noticed this during beta discussions.
For rewards: Let rings drop from 1-20, amulets from 21-40 and accessories from 31-50. This way you can get a full trinket set without the need to spend laurels or do guild missions/spend even more laurels + ectos.
Guess I’ll sit down tomorrow and think of a few things, if I don’t forget it.
I also think and improvement in gold is necessary. Level 50 fractals should not warrant the same gold reward as level 1.
So maybe the gold rewards could be: x*thefractaltier. So for example t1 (1-9) would be something like 1.5*1 and t2 (10-19) would be 1.5*2.
Also some sort of progress towards a skin would be nice. (we already have pristine relics so this could work) Maybe something like 25 pristines per skin?
I’d like to add to the 25 pristines per skin idea, which I like very much. But the only difference is that instead of making the skins pure RNG based, or pure grind (25 is a little much if you don’t have them already saved up, I turned most of mine into regulars), make it a mix of both. The idea is basically the same as it was in elite areas in GW1 (DoA comes to mind first, though UW and FoW were similar), make the relics have a chance of dropping from bosses and mobs in general (at a low drop chance, similar to crystals in DoA, not worth farming mobs for it, but getting even 1 extra relic could help out players a lot that don’t like grinding). The end chest will always give 1 relic, as it does now. I honestly wish this strategy was used more often in the game.
I think he wants to give you the chance to either get the skins through RNG or trade them for X pristines. The idea with the relics rarely dropping from mobs… why not.
Yeah it’s basically a RNG/grind combination, you could still get the drops from a very lucky chest drop, or grind the 25 relics, but I prefer the option where the RNG actually helps you, instead of blocking the rewards.

Just happened on level 37, 2nd fractal (not the berserker/firestorm one). When we reached the boss room (the one with the dredge boss and the sonic weapons), nothing happened. Braham and Rox just stood near the entrance but no conversation started. We tried resetting the fractal (party suicide), but it didn’t help. We had to abandon the entire run.
Posting for a friend in regard to the mobile authentication issue. I am sorry if it hasn’t been 72 hours, but the problem is that we are often active at different parts of the day. He hasn’t received a word in two days and has filed multiple tickets, only one of them was answered. The problem is that he posted on both German and English forums, you can let me or him know which of the tickets you want to close, I am sorry for making it more difficult. After one of the tickets got an answer that the team couldn’t help him, I asked him to provide more information about his account in hopes that that was the reason why they couldn’t help. Unfortunately, he told me that the e-mail containing his game’s serial number got deleted because it was old. I know that after hearing that you’d assume it was an attempt to steal the account, but he can provide all other information that you need, and I know it isn’t much but me and his entire guild who have been playing with him for the last year can vouch for that. Thank you for your patience with this, I know it sounds like a mess.
Ok so here goes:
- #560358 Disable Mobile Authenticator – this is the ticket that got an answer, but he opened another with more information in it, so I think this one can be closed
- #560117 Same one, just on the German forums
- #561157 Unlinking Mobile Authenticator – this is the ticket with more information about both account and issue, no answer so far, but this one is the key ticket
He also opened tickets for serial number retreival, I am not sure how that works, but here goes:
- #560363 & #560690 Serial Number – The newer one has more account information provided in it
- #560245 Serial Number – on the German forum
Again, I am very sorry for multiple tickets, hopefully the information here and in the tickets themselves will help you.
EDIT: A big thank you, the team disabled the authenticator today, he got in no problem after that I’ll leave the post as it is in case the multiple tickets need to be closed.
(edited by Charons.6037)
Your friend needs to update his ticket and ask to be sent to the department that handles Mobile Authentication, and ask them to assist him with removing the Authenticator.
Unless, of course, he is unable to prove he is the actual account owner. Remember, CS must be very scrupulous in ascertaining who the correct account owner is, as there are attempts to gain control of accounts by unscrupulous people quite often.
He opened a new ticket. I know that maybe it wasn’t the best idea to create multiple tickets, but hopefully it won’t be a huge problem. He is frustrated because the answer he got wasn’t even in the range “we would help you if you could do x or y” like provide account details or whatever they needed, it was pretty much “we can’t help you”. I told him to provide more information this time, hopefully the answer won’t be the same this time. About the transfer to the mobile authentication department, he said that he has already chosen that when he created the ticket both times. Thank you for the help, I’ll post more when he gets a response if there are any more issues.
Hey,
my friend lost his access to his Account kind of today (he can’t access the forums or game). His Account is set up with Mobile Authenticator (which is a bit… weird tbh)
After he came back from his holidays his router assigned him a new ip address, where he has to remember the network again (obviously), but the problem lays here:
The Google Authenticator is not building up any connection anymore to the Authenticator profile which was linked to the GW2 account which makes it impossible to get the 6 long digit to log in.
Neither can he log in on the webpage to change that, since he needs that Authentication digit again.
He wrote to customer support but all he got was the answer that they cannot help him for whatever reason. It’s still his original email, he can even provide the paypal transaction code for the game, billing address, id card.

Scarlet's Powerful Potion of secrets??...
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Charons.6037
The potions actually do count against the regular members of Scarlet’s alliance (even though as such they aren’t actually a part of her alliance), and will work on enemies such as the dredge all around the world (including SE), flame legion (including CoF), krait, nightmare court (including TA, any nightmare spider or vine, but not regular spiders or wurms), aetherblades and watchwork. Also works pretty good in fractals (underground has dredge, underwater has krait etc.) and TA aetherblade path. It should not work on Inquest (they aren’t a part of any of the stated groups, they aren’t aetherblades) and not on bandits, but it might work on pirates, since pirates and bandits are separate groups as well (you can check in the slayer achievements even, they count separately there) and aetherblades are for all accounts and purposes, pirates. This also means it should not work in CM.
I haven’t tested this so far, but just going by accounts of what other people said and how some things work in game, this should be close at least.
As from the post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Triple-Trouble-Meta-Seemingly-Bugged/first the achievement will get a fix on the next major update (18th of March if i am not wrong).
You are on the wrong subforum, as that is not a bug, similarly if you use the mesmer skill feedback you would get the same effect, it’s just how those skills work. Post in the suggestions subforum, you will probably have more luck there.
I’ve just done the new wurm event and managed to get a kill, with all achievements completed, only achievements I didn’t have completed were the demolitionist, wurmslayer and the new wurmicidal achievement, but after the update the demolitionist was completed and the other two I managed just a few minutes ago on a successful kill, but the counter for Triple Trouble is at 9/10.
I’d give it a 3/10, only because of Instabilities and Deesa’s short story that was unexpected. Gold rewards should have been added sooner. The only thing i saw “fixed” was the wall in the Maw fractal, and that barely changed a thing, Cliffside is the same as before, and on top of that the new additions are buggy as well. As for the new fractals: Thaumanova is a pure gimmicky fractal that is supposed to be hard until you figure it out, deffinetly not something that Fractals needed, repeating the maze for the xth+ time is going to annoy most fractal runners, rather than impress them. As for any other “new” fractals, so far as I have seen, they have been 1:1 as the content they were made from, I am surprised more people here aren’t outraged at this kind of repackaging things as “new”, when they aren’t. I can understand the people that haven’t played through that content, but for that you can only blame them for making that kinds of content temporary, and now they expect us to jump for joy when they return it.
Stop talking about the ‘free’ updates as if those are a boon to the game. Those ‘free’ updates have destroyed everything I have found fun about this game. The game was brilliant until those ‘free’ updates.
This is simply an awesome analogy.
People need to understand that these ’free’updates are going to sculpt the future of the game, and their quality is going to be what separates this game from just another mmo, or even a random browser-based mmo, which is also, mind you, ‘free’. They already said they don’t consider an expansion in the near future, and if this is going to be how they deliver content, it has to meet the players’ expectations, that the game itself has set high, or at the very least, not devalue the lore that was already in place.
A clear example of this are the alliances, they could have just kept the molten alliance and developed on that, instead of creating another one that doesn’t at all fit into what they said in the first place about any of these races, and instead of one alliance that we could have gotten an explanation about, we got two, still no idea why the first one started, and what is going on.
So, I beg of you, keep the quality to the standard you set. If you consider your players willing enough to spend money on reskinned armor and/or parts of one at the same price, you can bet they would spend it, and I can say that I would, for good, quality content. Just to compare, Guild Wars Factions was released a year after the original, and Nightfall less than a year after that, adding approximately 3x the content of the original game. Since it was the begining of the series, they probably didn’t have the playerbase this game does now, and still they managed to create a magnificent game. I am not arguing in favor of expansions here, but if this is their choice, they better make it good.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this before (not really the kind to sift through 40+ pages to find out, one of the reasons i really admire the team for doing this), and i do realize this is for LW content mostly, but is there any chance of expanding (or maybe I should say exploring) the content of WvW?
What I mean is introducing some sort of story/lore about places that we fight over in there, make it more interesting. And the Mists seems like a perfect place to start when it comes to writing a story about places that already exist and don’t even need to be changed.
As to avoid the wall of text here, I am just going to say I’ve already posted some ideas on how this can be achieved, just curious if that’s a thing you consider doing along with the LW since the seasonal WvW is considered a part of it.
Here is the post for those interested:

Just here to say: No. Waypoints are enough for travel, and as for cosmetics, they already exist.
So much of this… If this was GW1 we’d already have an expansion with tons of new areas to explore, and it’s really making me sad every time I look at the map to see all the unexplored areas still remain that way. As for the new enemy designs, the ones added so far are really good, but it’s still too few in comparison to how many Factions added. I am not asking them to rethink adding an expansion to the game (even though i’d like that very much), just asking that if they have chosen the Living Story to be their medium of introducing new content, at least make it so that the content is similar in size and scope of at least same part of what an expansion could bring (will be hard since the content is free). I hate WoW, but this is one of the reasons why i’d play it, the map exploration has few unreachable places.
1) I totally agree with this, but since they already started the progression, and it won’t end at least until ascended armor is released, I doubt they will just remove ascended gear from the game now, therefore there will always be vertical progression in gear in this game. Removing ascended gear now, after most of the people in game spent so much effort in acquiring it, is not going to happen. They should have left the progression to be cosmetic, and just added new T4+ armors and new legendaries, but ascended rings were introduced a year ago, and even then it was sure they won’t be removed from the game.
2) This is an idea they had in mind when they were developing the game, but they scrapped it, and for good reasons, since the open world (the only instance where they can be used) is scaled in difficulty enough to not require sidekicks, and if everyone was running around with one it would have major issues, one being that bots all around are already using a version of that (MM necromancers) to farm, and also what’s the point of learning how to play a new profession when you have your old one doing most of the job for you, kinda defeats the purpose imo.
Well even though the suggestion is nice, it’s not mainly cosmetic, and i am not sure if it will be a minor change either because of how stealth works, there is no way of removing stealth from yourself other than dealing damage, there is no way of removing it on-command. But i do believe if it worked this way it would be much better than it is now, and it would give mesmers a blast finisher they can actually rely on.
When you look at the concept of the Borderlands map, it is clear that it was made so that most of the places on the map were strategically placed, and not placed to relate to something, which I think was the problem for them trying to fit the places into the lore, but as the explanation says: “The Mists resonate from the worlds around them, forming bits of their own reality”, so it could be a place from the lore made to fit the layout of the borderland map. So (finally) the idea is: why not make small changes to the WvW map models and fit some lore in? Imagine if we had one borderland that was Pre-Searing Ascalon, and another that was Vabbi-Kournan border, and even the Eternal Battleground map, imagine if it was the border of the Jade Sea/Kaineng City/Echovald forest? Ok I might be going a bit ahead of myself, and even out of the scope I said before about being tied only to the human race, but those places need no new lore and even the models could be the same, only thing that could be changed are the visuals, and I do believe a lot of people would love to see Pre-Searing Ascalon, among the most beautiful places in the game, make a comeback with the new and improved graphics. You could even fit it so that the Keep Lords/Camp Supervisors would be some notable characters from the lore, and instead of fighting a random sylvari every time, you’d get Aidan guarding a camp and Rurik guarding the keep, or similar, and even the “invaders” could have charr NPCs, and even if they managed to take over the garrison, the lord stationed there would be Bonfaaz Burntfur (the guy who started the Searing), and it also opens up a lot of new options if you upgrade the keep with him, he can call down searing crystals near enemies, which would double as an anti-zerg tactic, and other ideas. I know it might be late for this, but it requires only visual changes, but I am not the one who decides.
TL;DR The Mists are mostly comprised of random content. Just by making small changes to the content already in place, it would make it more enjoyable to the players that like the lore of the game (which I believe is a large percentage).
I’m just gonna say it: the Mists. In the first game, there were limited ways of accessing places in there and they were tied to lore-important places in the world, such as realms of the gods (mainly) and Hall of Heroes, but in this game, large portions of the game (PvP and WvW) are both placed in the Mists, and they are mainly described as “forming bits of their own reality — islands of existence that reflect the histories of their worlds”, but in this game there is nothing in the Mists (excluding the Urban Battlegrounds fractal, and the upcoming fractal) that indeed reflects the surrounding world of Guild Wars, it just looks completely random, and even though most people playing WvW/PvP components of the game wouldn’t care much for lore, wouldn’t it be better if they were, even by a tiny bit, related to some of the lore of the game? ( I realize some of the arenas in PvP have names of some places/events that happened, but aside from that fact they are still random and generic since they have nothing other than that to make them related, but even so it’s better than the other components of the Mists)
(related rant) I can understand distancing from the lore of the first game, and mostly because centering on that lore, the lore of the human race, would make other races seem much more insignificant in comparison, but the bits of story we are getting now are in a minimal way related to the surrounding world, so far as I’ve seen, both the Fractals and even the Living Story (only new things added) are both completely random. Living Story aside, I believe that the lore of the first game was great, and I really applaud the conservation of lore important locations from the first game in the PvE aspect of the game (although Southsun appearing out of nowhere, even though it could be explained by the dragons, still seemed out of place, and a year later we still have no real explanation as to how the huge island appeared), and so far as I’ve noticed, other players feel the same, even those that didn’t play the first game. It gives you more pleasure to play a game if you understand, or at least familiarize some of the content added, than it just being randomly piled up, even though this way no one is left out for not being there for the first game, I do believe that getting into the story of a game is a great deal of playing the game, and it may even make a lot of players who didn’t play the first game want to play it afterwards if they like the story, as for the others, there is always a skip button… (end related rant)
This idea actually came to me while playing on the Borderlands map, and realizing that a lot of the places there are totally generic and even though they have names and such, there is absolutely nothing that even makes you want to remember places in there, no reason at all why there should even be 3 different names for identical places, and it’s why no one does, it actually makes it easier for players to call places in there generically for all 3 borders (quarry, hills etc.) to avoid confusing the other players. Also I tried looking up Stonemist Castle to try to understand a little bit about it, and all i could find was “Deep within the Mists lies the Eternal Battlegrounds, a place of mystery where worlds collide and legends are born.” No explanation at all, and I realize some of the players might actually enjoy this more.
Well, I know it’s hard to keep track of these situations, and like i said, this is the first time I’ve seen this happen. I thought that maybe they could use the report, I am pretty sure they store those somewhere, and see what was really happening themselves. The most troubling thing is the wall jumping, I really didn’t know what to think when i saw that happen, and it’s why I’d like to see them do something about this.
Already posted this topic under “Wvw discussion” but I guess this one has far more visibility, so I’ll post it here as well. Sorry for the double post in advance.
Ok this happened just now, on Piken part of EB, was running around and came across one of those stunblock warriors. So i managed to reach a nearby tower and man one of the arrow carts there to shoo they guy away while he was randomly trying to kill the guards there. Strangely, he didn’t move out of AC range. Good for me i figured. So when he was low on hp, i jumped out of the tower and tried to finish whatever hp he had left, when he jumped off the cliff… Ok this is the part where i waited in anticipation to get the loot from his body that is now lying dead at the bottom of the (very high) cliff next to Mendon’s tower. That didn’t happen, the guy came back at me in like 5 seconds with full health and i was forced to retreat back to the tower.
I know some people might dismiss this due to lagg issues, as did I at first, but this wasn’t at the least bit the thing that brought me here.
I manned the AC again and the same thing happened, he started attacking the guards, staying in range, but now when the guard died he came very close to the wall, and jumped hilariously over the entire thing and was now inside it. In all my shock and trying to get away from the crazy hack guy, sadly, I didn’t take a screenshot of that feat. He jumped down out of the tower shortly when more NPCs and me attacked him both.
To my supprise, another guy was there after he fell. In a series of weird sequenced attacks we tried to kill this guy, with now each time him porting away from us in a fashion that looked a lot like him lagging, but the both of us staying in his previous spot at the meantime. He gets low on hp, he runs away, leaves combat, and we catch up to him and try to kill him again. Every single time he got away with as much as 10% health. When we chased him down to the site near Speldan i think he finally decided it was enough and just disappeared (maybe even ported away when out of combat), leaving my brave companion and me dazzled at what just had happened.
I don’t even know what to say to all this, I didn’t take any screenshots of the encounter, and honestly, even if i did, they would prove little. I was only able to try to report him, but “hacking” wasn’t an option so i choose “botting”, for which i am sure i might get some negative feedback, but hey, after all that happened just now, i am pretty sure i am not the one that should be under watch… The guy was from Riverside [DE] server, that’s all I could see.
Not sure if any of this helps, but things like these really don’t belong in the game, and least of all in the competitive part of the game.
It’s funny how everyone noticed some trees that got chopped down, but really few noticed the whole kittening fishing village was wiped off the face of Tyria… But I am really happy that they revisited this area, besides from the tengu and the wizard’s tower, sadly there is nothing really interesting to see here besides ettins here, centaurs there… Really pleased with the secretive approach, here’s hoping we get amazed with the next story
The before screen is from the wiki, and here is some more stuff for you guys to read up on if you’re interested. I remember seeing the concept art even before this, on the blog they had before the game came out. Luckily, the text has been saved on the wiki.
This happened twice already, some people thought it was a champion abomination that charged at the laser for the first time, but during the second it was clear that the laser spawned with far less hp than it should have (it was nearly down when it spawned). Just happened on Miller’s Sound server, for the last attempt (about 5-10 minutes ago).
Just going to leave another comment to bump this, since i really think we deserve an explanation or an answer as to why they are doing this.
I don’t know, but this is really making me angry… I was just getting into collecting the money i need to get the full set and the title for it, and now out of the blue this happens and every single miniature has doubled in price, and none of the exotics are available anymore. This is probably going to be worse than the precursor market, since the last time I’ve checked, the exotic miniatures were costing higher than the precursors, and now they aren’t available anymore, which makes me think that they will raise that price when they become unavailable at the gem store, and I think that Arenanet team have to be aware of creating another precursor-like market, even though they keep saying that they are highly against those types of things in their game, because I see no other reason for doing this, it is in no way beneficial to the players.
Best:
1. The whole of the Lost Shores release. So the bugs, crashes, lag and broken content too? lol
Can’t say i liked the bugs and even the fractals weren’t enjoyable at first when you couldn’t reconnect but they fixed all of those bugs, and after those fixes it remains the single largest update to date, that most of all introduced more permanent content than it did temporary ones. And even though I missed my chance at a precursor at the karka queen event, I’d go through that again if it means we’ll get the amount of permanent content we did back then.
Best:
1. The whole of the Lost Shores release. From Fractals, which is the best dungeon in game, to a new explorable area, even down to the attack in LA, even though I got disconnected right before the Karka Queen battle, the release still had more permanent content than any other.
2. Shadow of the Mad King release. Slightly less important than Lost Shores since it was a holiday event and didn’t introduce as much permanent content, but still the best holiday event I’ve seen so far.
3. Wintersday. Even though I prefered how it was imagined in GW1, the holiday dungeon and jumping puzzle didn’t disappoint.
4. Ascended crafting update. Because it’s the most permanent content we got this year.
5. Changes to champions/dungeons/achievement rewards. All steps towards a positive direction in this game.
Worst:
1. Queen’s Jubilee. Really unimaginative, put all other holiday events to shame, my charr didn’t like celebrating a human queen for a month.
2. Flame & Frost. Content that took too long and didn’t give us anything and culminated into…still unsure what. Switching from guild wars lore to shallow characters and stories that are always incomplete and unimaginative. (This excludes the Molten Facility dungeon, and i hope to see it added as a fractal soon).
3. Mini games. Taking away focus from the main game is in no way a positive thing when it comes to permanent content.
4. Daily caps for everything. Not really a problem for itself, but it brings an issue that players feel forced to play every day which only makes more of them abandon it altogether.
5. No signs of expansion or any otherwise lore connected content. The promissed fractal during the Cutthroat politics was a good idea, but still unrealized… And to finish: We want Cantha!

I’d like to join as well
Also, no self respecting necromancer would study the powers of a mesmer. Just saying.
Have you even played Guild Wars 1? Primary profession, secondary profession…? Basically everyone could do everything back then, no reason to assume anyone other than us poor limited playable characters can’t still do the same.
Same thing here, at first I was getting disconnects, checked my own internet, but later realized that all over the place people were complaining about the same thing, both in the guild and the Pavillion map chat (Underworld server). Pavillion was virtually unplayable, I just kept getting killed in places that seem to have no enemies around, and when i logged in again i ported to a place with tons of enemies… Don’t get me wrong, I can understand that a big patch is underway and they need the resources for testing, but some heads-up would be appreciated, even if it means taking the game down. So far the only information I’ve seen about this is a twitter post that is 6 hours old now that says: “We are aware of the lag issues and are looking into them. Thanks for your patience. ~RB2 #GW2”.

Ok just gonna say that i didn’t read most of the comments and apologies to anyone if i say something that has already been said in this thread.
I totally agree with OP, this is definitely the worst Living Story so far. I am not talking about the new permanent content such as the champion loot or changes to dungeons, I am talking about the entire “Queen’s Jubilee” story. It seems as though the crew responsible for this one didn’t really think it through, and it turned out just as much as another holiday event with even less content…At least with Dragon Bash we didn’t know what to expect, there was some intrigue, things were unfolding slowly, while this one ends up being just another “Oh noes, aetherblades crash yet ANOTHER party…”. I am personally sick of poorly designed holiday events and sick of the aetherblades that we still know barely anything about other than they like to crash parties and whatnot. As for the holiday events, don’t get me wrong, I love them, but there is a time and a place, i loved the Halloween event, because it was what i thought holiday content should be, mostly separated from the “day-to-day” outside world, but yet so involved in it that you can’t help but be amazed by the little things that were happening like the statue blowing up and the dungeon which was so relaxed and at the same time challenging, felt like a perfect mix. The tower, some may disagree, but at first i hated it with passion because i was always running out of time, missing this or that jump, but after i made it the first time it was so much fun that i went in afterwards and done it a couple of times again just for the fun of it. Wintersday was a pure holiday event, it lacked the story, but the content was beautiful nonetheless, but it brought a trend i don’t like at all, that’s the content being too much involved in the “day-to-day” world.
I can only exclude the Flame & frost living story out of this, but the things like “go out and run around the entire map so you can do x at y random/fixed locations around the world” isn’t fun for anyone. It just ends up being a waste of money for the waypoints, and it’s happening ever increasingly, it’s seriously getting dull. At least the candy corn nodes were a little different than these balloon towers providing two types of events: escorts, which people seem to avoid because of the length, and kill aetherblades, go kill and run back, doesn’t seem like fun to anyone… And don’t get me started on the “winner and champion” events, where people basically camped in front of a balloon waiting for all 5 to rotate…
But, the things above aren’t nearly as bad as the bug-filled gauntlet, which isn’t a challenge at all, just a way for them to provide something for people who have a desire to show-off that they are in some way better than someone else, basically a way to shut up people with a desire for hardcore or end-game content by giving us something that isn’t either of that, but for some people i can see that it worked.
And for the thing that annoyed me the most, and one I shall be happy to put as my closing, the whole focus of this event, which is celebration of an anniversary of a queen’s rule. Can anyone just answer why, just why, should any of the other 4 races care about this at all? I can understand somewhat the charr, since she is responsible for the peace negotiations, but that doesn’t at all seem like a good enough excuse why it should be important to them. But apparently we have to appease the human population, which, at least on my server is the highest among all player characters. As much as I’d like that, seeing as we can all celebrate the human queen, we should then reopen UW and FoW, who cares if charrs don’t believe in gods, it’s important that humans do…
I am not convinced, phantasm are purely an illusion, they are not made of real material, thus arrows, bullets should go through them.
Not true, phantasms are made of magic. Magic doesn’t work the way you want it to.
Yeah I was looking at the post because i was sure i saw it somewhere, not sure what happened to it… Anyways, the swords aren’t at all difficult to avoid or anything else, they are mainly annoying, and the worst thing happens when they get to the center area where a lot of people go afk …
Managed to get a few screenshots of the bug, I was downed and was trying to use Deception (downed 2nd skill) but my character just kept spinning with the whip.
Ok let’s get something straight here first (skip this part if you don’t want to listen to my rambling) : I am not here to post about the difficulty of the challenge and how it’s impossible or this and that. Yes, I’ve had my share of bad luck during this challege (clone spawn on top of me, bad sphere pulls etc.), and even though it’s mostly based on luck, it’s an interesting addition to the game, even though people may disagree.
The reason I am posting in the bug section and not in the QJ section is that when she attacks during the “2nd phase”, after her shroud comes off, sometimes i get bugged with the whip in a way that my character starts whirling with it and i can’t do literally anything, not even dodge, and as it so happens a few times i got downed while this was happening and the character was still unresponsive, and then i died… at first i thought it was built-in to the fight, seemed pretty cool, but then it cancelled my skills and i changed my mind… I’ve heard no one else report this happening to them, not sure how to recreate it either, but last i saw it happened right after her shroud came off. I would have gotten a screenshot but i died very shortly after i got the bug.

Just noticed this after today’s update and everyone posting about the stats merge of ascended equipment, that my Snaff’s Gyre infused ring still had them, and that the dual stats were actually Vitality and Toughness instead of Power and Precision. I have Yakkington’s ring as well, but this one isn’t infused, and it wasn’t affected, as well as a Snaff’s Gyre ring that wasn’t infused that was posted in chat. I know it’s not a huge issue but still thought i’d report it. Haven’t noticed this change on any other ring infused or not i have.
I can confirm the post above, the candle was the problem, i got the achievement immediately when i picked up the free candle on my alt even though i haven’t had all the other upgrades on that alt.
Bugged for me too. I haven’t noticed it at first, but when i looked through my achievements i came across it and it says 80/83 even though all hints are checked.
Same issue, but i acquired Slingshot last. I think it has to be the bag that is bugged on count. Here are some screenshots to prove i got all 7:
I totally forgot that these things can also arrive by mail. Thank you so very much!
I’ve had 4 slots (including the starting one) before i started upgrading, went to the gem store and bought a Bank Tab Expansion from there (I didn’t use the direct way from the bank), the transaction was successful, and it appeared in my “recent purchases” bar, but I didn’t get either the item to pickup or the expansion directly… I’ve reported the bug in game, but wanted to post it here so I’ll be sure i get the answer. I managed to purchase 3 tabs directly on the bank unlock bar, with no problems, but that one i purchased on the store is still missing, so now i have 7 tabs instead of 8.
Especially with all the Destroyer stuff going on in Kryta.
What do you mean? I don’t see any difference between the destroyers attacking Kryta or Maguuma or even the Shiverpeaks, there is about 1 renown heart area they are involved in in each of those, save for an event or two (most of what I’ve seen is in a dredge cave, pretty sure it’s Shiverpeaks) so it’s safe to say that they are equally spread on those 3 areas.
As for the Central Transfer Chamber/Depths of Tyria thing happening again… maybe you are right, this just makes more sense to me atmosphere-wise, even though it may be incorrect lore-wise. Dragons have been seen to move large distances, so it’s not totally ruled out, but then again, some appear to be very inert… don’t take anything i say for granted though xD
