Child Of The Aesir.8762

I seem to come to these forums when I am disappointed in the game. Not to many times do I come to applaud the team and the support crew for all they do. From bug fixes, listening to complaints and going into action, and adding content that players are demanding (Guild Halls).
A few years back my account was hijacked. It was a back and forth ordeal to get it back. But the support crews worked with me on everything to get the account back. Yes many failed attempts and then it worked. So mad props.
A while back there were Champ Trains. And at first you would think it was great. But it killed any and all motivation to not only play the and explore. But in it’s creation it never taught players how to play the game. So again mad props.
I could keep going on about what great changes have come to this game. And where the game currently needs to improve. Changing not only some mechanics but the look of the entire zone of Kessex Hills is a great example of the changes I have loved. No more was this Queensdale 2.0 but an actual new zone. With some of the better boss fights this game has had. (Spiderqueen is awesome.).
And again while playing the new content of HoT I ran into some problems. Some are bugs (this will happen it is expected for big games.). Others have been content that seems like it was designed to be just content. (Tangled Thorns.). And even with these disappointments I am sure the team will correct the problems.
After recently posting on a thread that did not show to much praise for HoT. I was taking into consideration all that was said by videos and posts. And after years of reading making ofs and hearing the horror stories of making games. I realize that it is lot of money and a lot of energy that can become a grueling disheartening experience.
I try to keep my posts as constructive as possible when I have complaints or critique. (oh I know i fail miserably at times so sorry.)
I am not a programmer. But I know that adding one thing sounds so simple. But it can break so many more things that use to run stable. I am not a professional writer. But I know that story elements can and will be sacrificed to make the game playable at shipping time. (and well it should cause it is a video game.) And because I know there are many factors to take in when creating mob and boss encounters trial and error does become a tool just to create the content. (this is an mmo. So the biggest plans need to try and include how many are doing this, is it going to be fun when the server is all there for the event, is it going to be fun with only 4 people, and with so many lag and connection issues.) . And this is still being worked around after the the encounter has gone live.
This brings me to the main point. Please continue in this direction. The Shatterer is being revamped. I am sure other World Bosses will be as well. Keep making those encounters a challenge. Tequatl (even when I failed for the 10th time) was a great addition to the content of this game. I was lit up and had to tell people that stopped playing about it.
The rumor is that gliding will make it’s way to Central Tyria. And it should since it is so fun. With it and can carry over story elements that were dropped or changed while HoT was in development.
By the look alone of the game you have some great artists. I am sure you have an amazing story team as well. And after seeing the positive changes in WvW your game designers are doing a great job as well.
But I would really love to see the less is more concept being implemented. That is the content coming out being a great and fun experience. And even when it goes live. The team has the time and opportunity to work out any and all kinks. Or to even revamp encounters that have become cake walks. Instead of creating a whole new map for content. What was done in and still being done to Kessex Hills is a great example of how to use resources.
So to stop my rambling. I love the directions this game is going. It falls here and there but it gets back up in other ways. To launch a title in the mmo genre that says goodbye to the “Holy Trinity” and remains free to play is a massive achievement. So again thank you for listening to critiques and suggestions. And for the dedication as the entire Anet team continues to support this product.

Why I think HoT failed

Child Of The Aesir.8762

I agree with most of the video. However I do enjoy WvW and at a point was running away from the game. Due to boredom. And again i cannot push this enough. This game has great potential.
Then it drops the ball. I say that in reference to most of the last content we received every two weeks. A story that is being pushed together for almost no reason what so ever. And gameplay mechanics that simply do not work, are over done, or the fights stay longer than their welcome.
There were so many times that I was in bliss from a boss fight. Only to be disappointed by a silly game design or bug. I was liking the content coming out slower. To let the devs have time to work out most of the bugs and create great experiences and great content.
My big problem with HoT is that some ideas are fantastic from the start. Then they fall off. It is almost like a music group being forced to do x amount of records in a time frame. Yeah 3 tracks are great but the rest is just pointless filler. A key example is Verdant Brink content to Tangled Depths. Tangled Depths just sucks. There is nothing good about. Aside from the characters interactions in the story mode (again story mode should be able to be done solo and without specific ability requirements.). It is also filled with to many enemy encounters to be able to explore and have fun. Again see video above.
Yes the game is an mmo. It was also built on the premise of being casual friendly. And now just to get to one story point to another I need people to help me make my way. This is ridiculous. Boss fights, dungeons, raids, WvW, and fractals are where I should be spending time with my guildmates. Not trying to complete the story.
Simple suggestions to improve the game would be to watch the video above. Because the issues that are brought up have merit and show the proof of disappointment people have with the game.
After that I would seriously check story to game content. First and foremost gameplay is critical. I have played games that had amazing stories but honestly the gameplay sucked. Perfect example Mass Effect 1. If it did not suck as bad as it did I think less people would have been let down by the 3rd games ending. Simply put poor game mechanics can ruin the experience. Now if it played like Mass Effect 3 without the same recycled environments I would buy it over again along with a copy for my girlfriend.
Point I am trying to make is that GW2 seems to suffer from the same problems that plague Destiny. Sure both games have the base mechanics working great. But the story and the content are lacking.
During my start in HoT I was using a sylvari (my favorite race cause they are glowy). I was super excited to see what the world had in store for me. After seeing the cut scenes and trailers showcasing the sylvari are not to be trusted and racial tension was high. I was immediately let down seeing that Rox not trusting sylvari was just fine with me.
So my immediate thought was that (pardon the old racial lines GW2 styled) are they cool with me because I am a house plant and not a field plant? I was hoping to have more interactions for people not to trust me. To have more story moments that would highlight the tension between sylvari and the rest of the races of Tyria. And in the end all the cutscenes and promo videos leading me to this expectation were shot down.
But I am optimistic that this can be remedied. With future content in Central Tyria zones. With future content carrying out everything that happened in the events leading to and ending in HoT.
There are many great things that were added. I love what was done in WvW. The tower and keep bosses are fights now. And not just simple run and burn fests similar to the champ trains. (these were killing the game.).
Ok so way to wordy. But hoping that the story ideas that were dropped do resurface in future content. I love how the events tell their own story in HoT. And it was a combination of great gameplay and community filled with lore.
I do not think the world of Tyria is devoid of story or lore. I am glad that gameplay was the main concern for a release date. I am loving the gliding, boss fights, events, and a chunk of the story.
But just asking all in development to please add quality over quantity. The two week content had more misses than hits. And added nothing to a coherent story. It was great when it slowed down. More of the encounters and boss fights were fun if not polished.
So please fix the bugs first. And can you put the known bugs on the sign in screen area. People can be busy and the game has had a great reputation being casual friendly. If you put the known bugs up people would probably avoid the content until it was fixed. This could save players time looking for information and not wasting their time on something broken. This could only make the user and developer relationship a bit easier. It just shows that you are aware of bugs and they are being worked on.
So again so wordy. I feel like a message being left by Tamii. Basically I love the art, mechanics, and the casualness of the game. I do love the new challenges. And do not want easy content. But I want to get in and feel like I did something and it was fun.
Talking to friends my age. I am in my 30s. We usually do not have time to read up on all the meta builds. To spend hours on something that was not intended (a bug) or massive glitches.
I have seen my friends go from hardcore raiders in WoW to playing Madden, NBA2K, and COD because the games are designed to give them that 30 minutes to an hour of enjoyment.

Rev really lacks build diversity

in Revenant

Posted by: Child Of The Aesir.8762

Child Of The Aesir.8762

I am wondering if the Revenant is basically a dead toon in lore since that is all they are good at. Now I know this is a blunt statement. But seriously I have 3 of every other profession and the Rev is pretty much useless in HOT content. Everyone else can fight things out. The Rev seems to just die.
So I guess what I am asking and saying is…..the Rev is seriously a dead profession. As in the character you create is already dead since they seem to love going back.
Would love to know how to build a toon that does not die every step of the way. And if it is just one way to make them. Then this needs to be tweaked.
I started playing this game and fell off. Then I started playing all new content that was coming up. The story and how it is done. Way better. The new specialties are great. The Mastery system is nice. Keep going in that direction with great content and amazing boss fights. As well as great story telling. ( yeah you get yelled at for spoilers).
But please do something about the Rev in PVE content. They just die all day long.

Can you please give good if not great content

Child Of The Aesir.8762

I have been playing this game since it was offered with a preorder. I will not say it was a beta because the game came out way to fast to be a beta test.

I have always felt that upon release the game was rushed. Key points to that are mobs that become OP when placed together. Get hit once and die. But this will take a few minutes. Hence wasting the players time. Bugs in story missions, dungeons, and pve. (a chunk of these bugs have been fixed.) Or any zone past 30 being an after thought as far as content has gone. Yes the megaservers have helped get through these zones. However it would be nice to see substantial changes to Orr after defeating the dragon.

Can you please use some moments of phasing in these areas. Yeah it splits some players from the others but it would help to make a player feel like they did something. Instead of waiting on a event timer.

The other pros to this would be a player would be more enticed to have a main toon. Side note I have an 80 of all professions and duplicates with only a sex, race, or build difference.

In other words I have no main toons. The story missions and such to not reach out to me and say keep this character at all times. Or use this character when a new story arc is unveiled.

I will say ditching the two week content drop was a great idea. It is nice to see a more centralized story. And all hands on deck to provide a great story and play experience.

Some of the new content came so close to being wonderful if not perfect. But was marred by some silly mechanic or bug. (yes bugs happen…..I am willing to wait 6 months for you to get it right. As in in house play tests and alpha sites).

Many of the fights that come out are nothing but time eaters. Keep hitting this thing for at least 30 minutes and there is a prize at the end. The ones I thought were great and I would love to see more often are the Marrionette and Teqatl. Most other fights have felt like a dps rush. Oh I did forget Spider Queen . That is my favorite regular event.

What I am asking for is events that trigger and have many objectives to them. Using skills, the environment, and items found on the ground. When utilizing these things, prep the player. Lead them into the mission knowing that their thief has these abilities when picking up an item and here is how they are used. Do this before the main fight. It is frustrating to try and get a grip on everything while the fight is happening.

Use the destructible terrain that is in Ascalon for some varying game play. Some parts have it. Yet it never gets utilized. Why not have fights to trap and crush some monsters?

Please add phasing to some zones. It would be great to see Orr after killing the dragon lord. Not just as Orr is always. It would make it a more memorable experience to have changes being made to zones depending on what you are doing.

Yes I know that everything I am asking for takes time and money. From artists to programmers and level engineers. So with that a few ideas to secure more revenue.

Create a voting area with a pre screen for independent people to create items and armor looks for the game. Yes before the public gets to vote pre screen the submissions and take what will work in the game to be voted on.

Other games are doing this as well. It ensures profit, brings more people to the community to make these items which could become new players, and takes the pressure off the in house team to create new items looks in a timely manner.

Add mounts to the game. It would be a new collectible. And if done right can have combat mechanics of its own. It could change how WvW and PvE battles are fought. This would also benefit the game by creating more diverse boss fights .

I am sure the community would be just fine if the mounts operated a certain way depending on profession and build.

These are the things I really want to see in this game. And yes I know that some are a ton of work and resources. But I really want to be able to tell friends that have quit playing what amazing things are happening . Instead of yeah I log on for 15 minutes and do dailies.

Please make/ keep the boss fights fun.

in Living World

Child Of The Aesir.8762

I have been playing this game while it was in beta. After release I just felt that the game was rushed out. The only places that played well were the places that were in beta. This made the rest of the world content feel like an after thought.

Story, originality, fun quests, and interesting bosses were missing once you hit 30.

Now bringing the game up to date. And dishing out my grievances and constructive criticism on the state of the game and more importantly the living world.

Some of the boss fights feel too long. My example to this would be the fight with the end boss hopping on pillars and using Zepherite crystals to dash, port, or high jump.

This fight started out great. The concept felt amazing. The atmosphere was great. And then it lasted way to long. After a time I just felt bored. And at the start of the fight it felt exciting.

Going from one extreme to the next just makes the experience a lackluster. If it had more phases to the fight that would have been great. If it ended sooner I would have had a better leaving experience.

But it became repetitive. And felt more like a chore than a wonderful end to the first chapter of Season 2.

I also know that it takes a ton of time and effort to create the content and add new mechanics and experiences to the game. In some cases the content is great but it broke something else in the world. I am very aware of this.

All I am asking is for great mechanics going into boss fights and not a test of endurance of how long you can do the same thing over and over again to get a little reward.

Yes last season was kinda lame for living story. Seeing as I personally and others I have spoken to felt that it was about the meta achievements. Do this and all these ten things to receive this little item. Which kinda kills the living story. And this did not make the game immersive or all that fun.

So I am glad the game has taken this new form of bringing in content. With a better story (one in which I give a kitten .). But please please make sure that the mechanics are play tested. And the encounters work with all classes.

And please no more attrition of my time. One of my favorite things about this game is that I can hop in and do something in 30 mins and hop out. Or come back the next day and spend hours in the world.

It takes away the chore feeling of other MMOS.

So to end with since I ramble (yes the same people I talk to told me so). Can we please see more large group encounters like Tequatl and the Marrionete. And can we please have boss encounters that are fun and challenging in the story missions.

Even if I died many times I would be okay with it. As long as it is not playing off one mechanic that gets repetitive.

The game has some great concepts. I believe it has great potential to be one of those games that millions of people will remember fondly after decades of new titles. This game ditched the holy trinity and became the most action packed mmo out there while never advertising it.

Please keep up the great work. And a great many of my complaints have been answered promptly. This is in regards to my account being hijacked and retrieved. To a complaint about a mechanic or dull presentation of story.

So keep making this game great. And thank you for fixing some of the PVP issues.

I demand more skimpy male armour

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Child Of The Aesir.8762

I am not just going out there on the whole supporting women’s rights and such. But being honest there should be more armor sets that show more of the male toons.

I have a sylvari that I changed to a woman because the male armor blocks all of the cool glow effects those characters have.

My male norns would look like kitten barbarians (at least I try to achieve this) But a ton of the sets cover them up again.

I really think the best way to go about this. Would be to have content created by the community. (Just like Dota2.) It could be voted on and then priced in the gem store.

Not saying that the art team from Anet is dropping the ball. I mean at a point I only stuck around because the art was awesome. But it is less frequent than the community is looking for.

Another suggestion would be to go the route Skyrim went. And allow a few options for a visual look from a armor set.

In any case it can be added to the collections for look/style. Or even sold on the Trading Post after being discovered or crafted.

First and foremost let me congratulate the Anet team for all of the wonderful changes being made to the game.

Hate me all you want but the champ trains hurt the game more than make it great. (you hit the 1 key like a feeder bar and are rewarded. Do not move forward. Don’t do anything else but this.) Oh and the Tequatl fight as well as any other nice addition to the game. (please bring the Marrionette fight back.) Will only infuriate you.

Love the addition of teaching roll as well as some of the base limitations.

Let’s face it. Who actually cares about the world of Tyria. Human zones look all alike as well as everyone elses. (thank you for changing Kessex Hills.)

I always complained that the areas and quests were quite similar.
Char vs ghosts, Asura vs Inquest, humans vs centaur, and so on a so forth. I was nice seeing the change to Kessex Hills. Can we get more changes. To include all other races into some kind of semblance of unity. (minus the dragon…because that was sorta pointless.)

Can we get more bases and a larger foothold in Orr for lvl 80 toons that have completed the story? To show that all the work and effort is worth it. And to show a bigger world shaping event. Like choices mean something.

It would be nice to see some things from Guild Wars 1 being used. Like the guild halls. New skills being discovered around the world. To create a more unique toon. In other words here is a weapon master. They will teach you new skills for a quest or price. (no gems.) Then you can redo a skill bar according to what you want to use.

Yes this would make it tough on the team to balance. In PvE or PvP/WvW. If done right you make more people happy and have people experience the rest of the world. With a mission for something usefull to them. And it gives the story writers an opportunity to get players to care about the world their toons exist.

For starters past lvl 30 is a chore to lvl. Because the areas are so scattered and dull by then. Pirates in Genderran Fields feel more like a small group of thugs that enjoy the beach. Can you add pirate ships and shipping vessels being attacked as events or quests? Because it is so kitten close to everything already done that why bother?

I played the beta and launch. After two months I was done saying this was a rushed product. After almost a year vast improvements have happened.

I now try to get friends to play. After I trashed this product save for it’s art and ditching the Holy Trinity. But improvements still must be made.

The new starting zones are shaping up. The new skills and extras that some classes have received are great. And the Living story is much better than previously.

It would be nice to see new classes. Like the monk. Come on the Char hairdo points in that direction. New weapon skills. New race/class based skills. So you have more reason to have 3 engineers and not just for looks.

Plus adding better content to higher lvl zones. Because they get boring or seem useless or why bother. It would be great if anyone can get attached to the world or what is going on in it. But so far most content seems rushed, dull, and a quick fix to keep the public happy.

The new living story content looks like a great blessing. Giving devs time to create and put out the content. And the content stays for a bit longer than the rush two weeks deal.

I really want to have a reason to get people into this game/world. Most of the gamers I know are interested in exploration, story, and character development. And instead they received quick do this/ get this content. Adding a few game mechanics here and there. But ultimately pushing them away. Content should be meaningful. (Lions Arch and Kessex Hills are great examples of right without the rush of content.)

I realize this game has three modes to it. Somewhat splitting the player base PvE, PvP, and WvW.

Breaking those down it would be nice to see each of those areas get content and fine tuning to ensure a great experience.

PvP for me looks kind of like a joke so far. I wait 10 minutes for a match get in to find out I only have 2 or 3 other people on my team. (or vice versa.) I would think after the wait you could get a better grouping together. I do not mind losing to better skilled players. But it is irritating to see or be on a outnumbered team.

I know soon I will get bashed and be told to go back to my pandas or lightsabers. But I really think this product and game world has massive potential. So much in fact that even though I have bought two copies of the game. And a upgrade. I still on a regular basis spend money in the gem store.

Can we please have player created weapons and armor come in on a voting process similar to Dota 2 or Everquest Next once it is released.

Ok large rant and such but keep up the good work and please resolve some of these issues.

What I feel is lacking in this game

I really think this game as stated previously as well as many months ago needs work.

It has great potential. It lacks refinement and a reason to continue.

Combat : Out of most mmorgs, this is one of those unique games that makes me feel that the game is about skill, action, quick thinking, and more action. On the other hand the encounters do not embrace the mechanic to full potential.

1) More roll evade encounters……this also means a better warning animation, flash, or aoe ring to imply getting out of the way.

2) More skills per weapons…..the same 5 skills get old fast. And yes I know about the illusion of of options in a skill tree. However the first Guild Wars had a progression to unlock new skills or find them in the world.

3) Areas and story leave a why even bother…..after the newness wares off. And you go to more and more zones. I get a “why should I care” about almost the entire world.
Don’t get me wrong. The intro of your character into the world is great for all races. But the higher you progress the game simply has nothing to offer as far as story and immersion are concerned. And that is kind of important to an mmo.

4) Give me more to do than just kill things in your world…….. How bout more collectibles. Opening the carnival as an attraction. Winning stuffed toys, mounts, and other silly items. Not as important as game mechanics or an immersive world but it lends a great hand. This is an mmo after all.

I have not returned to this game since the big world changing event in November. Since then I have played almost everything else. From Vs mode fps shooters, single player campaigns, Mass Effect multiplayer, The Old Republic (mmo), and I even went back to WoW for a short period.

And in that time with my experiences with all those other games. I simply came up to the fact that Guild Wars 2 does not give me a reason to return nor care about it’s world.

I am very impressed that this game feels more action oriented vs a set rotation. It is still amazing that the holy trinity is dead and replaced with a complimenting your team mechanic. And the art style is very rich with amazing animations and great emotes for all races.

So devs please entice me to come back because your gem store emails are not doing it.

We need Guild vs Guild in this game!

I have read the article. Kind of interesting seeing that. It would also make sense since the game feels rushed. (this is after the lvl 30 zones that were not beta tested on a public lvl.)

And if what is said is true. Then it is a sad state of affairs. Pay to win is one of the worst ideas in games period.

Yes some games make a gear grind out of it. Others have you unlock items. And some are using an in game currency system as well as a cash system to grab packs containing randoms.

The last example is still kind of unbalanced even for a co op game.

Pvp is a whole other animal. And if the player community sees an unbalanced game. And their voices are not heard. Then they will simply leave. Along with their disposable cash.

As long as they are able to wipe out your previous story and character building choices.

I would not expect it anytime soon. But if they could develop something to save your level progress while taking away your in game story. I say why not?

I’m with Candlejack. And after reading what he had to say I saw nothing indicating to go play any other competitors mmo.

This game started out in the right direction. It had an interesting story. A personal story that only immersed you into the game. Stats that made npcs interact with you differently than your friends.

I was in heaven. Here is the mmo I was waiting for. Seeing that all other ones I had played were kind of lose and eventually felt like a grind and time sink. This game was going to give me a close to story experience that was only found in single player rpgs.

Then I began to lvl multiple toons. The newness faded. And some bugs stood out continuously. Granted more and more were fixed in a timely manner. But I was always running into more and more game halting bugs throughout the world.

Ok I understand this is an mmo. Big world and just released. There will be problems.

Then the real unfortunate thing happened. Bugs in my personal story mission preventing me from lvling. So I had to play the actual environment.

The higher lvl zones feel like and after thought. Run back to my lower lvl toons to see if everything has gone terribly wrong. No just the areas that were never included in the beta weekends.

The lvl 1-30 zones are fleshed out with a worlds personality, fun quests, and events that lead you through almost every zone. They are a blast even now. Just don’t plan on doing any events because they are becoming ghost towns.

The game needs serious work. It should have been delayed for maybe 8 months to a year. This would have given the devs time to make the later lvl areas much more engaging. Given them the time to create end game content that would not piss off most of the fan base. Or come to late while others jumped back to whatever they were playing before.

Right now I would say that the game starts out so promising. The more involved you get the more it becomes a grinding chore.

And no I have not gotten to lvl 80 yet. (If that is a prerequisite for this community to allow me an opinion, I will jump right on that.) But after watching friends and my girlfriend run through Orr. I really see no need to continue. The zone looks like a horde mode exploded across the zone .

Shouldn’t this be exciting seeing as it is the final conflict area?

In short the game holds major promise. But it needs some serious work. There does not seem to be any thought of end game content and this is an mmo. And yes running the same dungeon over and over explorer mode or not gets old.

Candlejack was pointing out the obvious. This game is falling apart. The new content just added more problems to something that was already broken.

And seeing we are all paying customers. We should not have to settle for a half finely tuned game.

3) make the event more personal to the race the player chose.

4) helps make the entire world more engaging and not a repetitive (take quest here) kind of game

It would be nice if more emblems were available.
It adds to the personalization feel of the game. And shouldn’t your guild emblem be something personal?

I however feel that players should not have the ability to upload. Not unless someone was approving it before it went live on armor and such.

I just think of a very popular fps that was allowing you to make your own emblem. And I shudder to think of a cute little Asura with a swastika on its chest coming up to quest with me. Or a large Char or Norn with a kitten displayed proudly.

And I know what you are saying. I have deleted characters I no longer cared for the look of. Just to remake an identical character as another race, sex, or different look.

I just wanted to make some people aware that this a suggestion area. And when someone makes a suggestion. Please do not tell them that if they like it so much go some place else. I am sure the developers would not be to happy.

And I thank you both for being so civil.

That being said can the rest of the posts remain the same. If you do not like what someone is saying please debate with them in a civil fashion.

I agree with you. That many suggestions I have read and replied to make reference to a mechanic or a few features that another mmorpgs have to offer.

And entitled to their opinion as they are. The people that do not want said such features like to say “just go play_____mmorpg then.”.

I was just saying that with this game as new as it is. And as much work a recently launched mmo has underway. You are only hurting the dev team when you reference the competitions games.

People are making suggestions. They might be high lvl and bored, miss features of another game, or just want that missing piece. While making suggestions they are showing that they really want to stay playing and more than likely paying for items from the Black Lion Trading Post.

When they hop on and make suggestions along with their complaints. They are met with "don’t like it go play (WoW) " .

I am really just wondering how many new subscriptions and games they have sold from this.

And it is kinda funny that the company so commonly referenced in this forum has a tendency to release an expansion right after the launch of a highly anticipated or high profile mmo competitor.

I’m saying the fans in these forums might be selling people the game for them. And hey it’s free advertisement.

This game is still in it’s infancy. There are still bugs to fix, patches to apply, and content to add.

When you throw down someone’s suggestion because it is borrowing an idea from another mmorpg. And you state the games name following that. More than likely they will jump ship. Go back to the other game referenced and take friends with them.

1) Those games are years old with most bugs fixed.

2) They have tried and true mechanics as well as content that works with their formula.

3) They also have a reliable and steady player base.

You are entitled to your opinion. And it is great to see that you are passionate about Arena Net’s product. But you may actually be selling games and subscriptions for their competition.

And maybe you feel better that you are getting rid of people that do not feel or enjoy the game as you do. It is still pushing players out.

Less players means:

1) Fewer servers

2) Less revenue for the development team

3) Longer time for new content and updates.

4) A larger loss of interest in the title.

5) And maybe even a sudden drop of support for this game.

I am responding to Kaimick. Yes I am only lvl 50 as a max character. I have made and deleted several toons trying all types of characters to see what everything did.

I am also kinda bored with the game. The later zones seem like an after thought. Almost no story. And if there is one it is already kind of dull at this point.

I had a blast and still do with my toons through the 1-30 zones. At the lvl 50 areas it looks bland, dull, a grind, a chore.

I miss the feeling I got and still get with my early lvl toons. Up to lvl 30 the world seems fleshed out. I have thrown suggestions out asking for the later zones to be more story driven. More interesting.

I believe this game has great potential. But if I am already bored with the 50 zones and heard that it does not get any better on the road to 80. Yes I am going to stop playing the game.

I have read on sites such as Kotaku as well as these very forums that I am not the only one that feels this way about the game. And it is a shame.

The end result I see is that many more people will lose interest in this game and go back to or jump on any mmo out there. With the same stale holy trinity and no help from strangers game play.

The devs did a remarkable job with the look, animation, and personal story missions. In my opinion they failed at keeping a lively world with personality that draws you in.

I am just throwing out suggestions that maybe a dev might look at and go “Hmm we are losing customers.”

My friends and I have no real interest in this game anymore. It’s lacking something. And that is a terrible shame considering that it only took them about a month to grow tired of it. (yes they have 80s.) And this was after playing multiple beta weekends as well as stress tests of the game prior to launch.

You need to try and cater to your hardcore crowd as well as your casual.

Guild Wars 2 has successfully made the game near soloable. This makes the casuals happy. (yes my highest character is a 50.)

But this mentality alienates the hardcore gamer. You need to make them happy as well.

I think the best bet is to make activities for guilds. Some for creating a bond with the new found community. And some unlocked giving the guild a raid type event.

This event can be more a crafted story involving the guild as a whole. Or whomever decided to show. This would not break the lore of the game. Or involve the main lore or story.

This way you do not alienate your casuals from being able to appreciate the lore and main story.

And rewards could be titles. Statues in major cities. With the guild name and all toons that participated. Even adding other collectibles such as mounts. (yes you can port wherever, but it would add something.)

Don’t need a gear check, don’t need to add gear progression, and don’t need dps meters or a holy trinity. Just add bigger events for guilds to earn and complete.

Something I miss from the original is the guild halls. It is something personalized. A place to hang with guild mates. And could be used for activities and the main hub to implement a raid type event for a guild.

Eek I didn’t make it clear enough.

No holy trinity. No dps, no tank, no healer, no one telling me what i need to build my toon into.

I love that guild wars does not have this. If it ever did. I would quit right away.

However adding larger scale dungeons / raids would only add to the game.

The magic of Guild Wars 2 is accomplishing dungeons and challenges with friends while complimenting each others play styles.

I think the devs could come up with something using that in a 15-30 or what have you large scale dungeon/raid/event for high lvl players.

I am going to try and defend vektor. I do think the game may need some bigger end game dungeons/ raids.

To be fair though, I would also suggest that they do not institute the holy trinity. (healer, tank, dps.)

Supplying a higher end 15-25 people dungeon/ raid to the game could help keep players around. Let them earn nice armor, weapons, and cosmetic items.

I don’t think that main story lore should be attached to these raids / dungeons. Unless they were some what more accessible to everyone.

But bigger challenges and bigger rewards would be nice to see.

Got to say I am dissapointed in this game

I truly believe this game has potential.

I also know this game is an mmo and needs time to figure out what servers need to run at for a realms population, and even world vs world. This also ties into world events. (yes I have had issues.) I am sure the dev team will eventually get it right.

Along with fixing progress damaging bugs, fixing respawn rates on enemies, and giving the player a reason to keep the Black Lion Chests. Mix that in with balance issues in pvp as well as pve, creating new content to keep 80s busy, and to try and place items around the world to create a world economy. I am fully confident the development team can fix all of this.

However my complaint comes from the game losing its fun. The higher lvl I get the more boring the world seems. (This does not include story missions…..I really love this.) This is the complaint that the combat focuses on 2 weapons pretty much all around. I am aware that I can swap the weapon layout out of combat. But most of my toons have melee and range to swap to . Can we please have a dedicated range weapon and two weapons to switch from?

On top of combat becoming repetitive, the quest layouts get stale the higher I get in lvl. (Currently I have a 51 as a main.) But the 40 zones were blah compared to the earlier lvls. And friends and family say that it gets to feel more like a grind after 50.

In short it feels like the later zones were an after thought when compared to the lvl 1-30 areas. Can you please spruce them up a bit? I love the animations on my toons ( yes they are Asura and Char mainly.) I love the diverse nature of the races. The fueds between some. (yes I played the first game.) In the early stages it felt like a very well fleshed out world. The more I advanced the more it felt like a chore, a grind, just dull and whats the point. I want to feel like I am playing in a well thought out game completely. So please spruce up the later zones. I do not want to see this game fail.

And I would be more willing to spend real world cash for things that felt more worth while in game. Never sell things that would change the balance of the game in both pvp or pve. But sell things that make it feel more personalized to your toon. It would be nice to see the carnival being used. Tokens could be used for playing games, going on rides, and for friendly competitive games. You could sell the tokens for in game currency or real world cash. This could break the cycle of adventure, kill, adventure some more. This would be something fun. Give the game a personality.

Maybe add mounts. Yes you can instantaneously travel. However this would add more collectibles, and let players show them off. Make it so the players could obtain some in pve, pvp, as well as the black lion market. This would give the game more flavor.

Yes I am throwing out all sorts of suggestions without even knowing all that it takes to create a game. I still feel that it would be beneficial to add some of these features. I love how the game started . I just don’t want to see it fade out to nothingness.

You killed the holy trinity. You made it so players help one another. Your artwork is seriously impressive. And still I have grown bored. So please spruce up some of the later lvls.

I don’t want to complain to complain. I want to throw my feedback to see this game rise up and encourage more developers to take notice.
