WvW Roaming Build Help Please

You can just buy the bowl of poultry and leek soup, it is a great substitute for the lemongrass. It is only about 8-9 silver a pop and only -4% condition duration and 10 vitality less, a much better investment.

Condition build is still a strong build roaming build for warrior based on the fact that our bleeds last for an absurd amount of time. And you can always counter minus condition food with using plus condition food yourself. We also have pretty good burn up time and you can pop a sigil of doom in your weapons for extra condition damage. You are still pretty mobile and you tend to be a little more tanky then burst builds, although it may take a little longer to kill people.

Popular builds for roaming atm are:

Sw/Sw + LB condition build or Sword/shield + LB which is seen a bit less
Mace/Shield + Greatsword Tanky build
Hammer/Greatsword Tanky or berserker build
Hammer + Sword/Shield Tanky or berserker build

The stronger builds for roaming are probably either the Mace/Shield + Greatsword or the Hammer/Greatsword builds. Condition builds can be awesome too depending on the situation.

My personal favourite that I have the most fun with is the hammer/greatsword build (i find mace and condition builds boring).

This is the build that I typically use, it is more or less a standard roamer build but I switch some things out according to my preference.

It has really high burst damage, especially with the hammer, great base defense as well as general survivability. 2,700-2,800 armor is great for tanking burst damage as well as soloing supply camps. Dogged March + Lemongrass + Shake it Off + Cleansing Ire has you covered against conditions. This build has significant vigor uptime due to vigorous focus and furious reaction in addition to the greatsword evade every 8 seconds.

I run 0/20/30/0/20 as I feel it is the most effective for me. For me, Forceful Greatsword is essential if you are using a greatsword because of all the might that you generate, extra mobility and lower cooldown on hundred blades. Most people use Unsuspecting foe as their adept trait in arms but me I am trying to get used to life without it, which really isn’t bad at all because this build has one stun. I use furious reaction for more fury and vigor uptime, but I guess you could use rending strikes as well.

I could not consider going any less than 30 defense with this build at all. Dogged March is amazing, Cleansing Ire is amazing and Merciless Hammer is amazing and are all major keys to the potency of this build. Having the ability to deal with CC that hampers mobility, extra condition removal and lower cooldowns and higher burst on CC is invaluable. And you gain an extra 5% power from toughness.

As for Discipline, most people opt for Warrior’s Sprint but I prefer Vigorous Focus with all the stances that I am using. 25% extra movement speed is nice but I feel that I already have enough mobility with the greatsword, balanced stance and signet of rage that I don’t really miss it too much. Plus the ability to dodge major attacks is very helpful. DotE is a no brainer, more damage please?

As for my skills, I typically run Healing Signet. It is usually the best heal that we have. Then I run endure pain, negating damage every 60 seconds is certainly helpful as well as the vigor I gain from using it. Balanced stance is probably one of the best utilities that a warrior has. Gives you swiftness, decent uptime on stability, a decent cooldown stunbreaker and the ability to quickstomp is invaluable. Most people use Berserker Stance as their last utility but as of late I haven’t really taken a liking to it. I feel as if I do not need the extra adrenaline regen, it does not remove conditions from you and this build lacks condition removal itself. Don’t get me wrong though it is a very nice skill and might even be better in certain situations. But other than that, that is why I use Shake it Off as a substitute. It is low cooldown, which means you can remove pesky confusion and bleeds quickly if they get too much for you and it also doubles as a stunbreaker. Notice how I have slotted 3 stunbreakers in this build so that I am also somewhat of a counter to other roaming warriors.

But overall, just find a build that is inherently strong for roaming and tweak it to your playstyle and liking.

can you please elaborate your playstyle got GS/Hammer? I’ve just started roaming with it recently and I have no clue what to do besides button mash!

PvE'er thinking of swapping GS for Hammer

honestly dude, just play whatever you want. Just know that DPS > CC against boss fights due to defiant. Axe/mace and GS DPS is not only the highest in our class, but arguably in game.

Hammer’s damage is decent, in full zerker gear i can do 10k total (most of the time) on the auto attack cycle (hammer swing+bash+smash). If you insist on running hammer in dungeons, tell your group to help you reduce the defiant stacks so you can land that nice 2 second stun/knockback on the boss.

I run a 0/0/20/30/20 for dungeons with banner. i can swap to axe/shield just before we start hitting on the boss.

Well, if you’re not willing to attack your enemy to get rid of the Blind, your options are down to a pre-emptive Berserker Stance, Signet of Stamina and waiting it out.

Waiting it out is usually the worst option beecause alot of classes are running 40% condition duration ontop of whatever duration they already have which means 5-7s of running away waiting for blind to come off which is a no no. Best option is to use your autoattack to get rid of it quickly.

QFT, keyword is auto attack and not an important skilll like Bulls Charge or Earth Shaker

need help with a Thief TEAM build ,

I don’t have an exact build cause I’m very new to thief and not yet a lvl 80. For a more team friendly approach, so far i love the amount of vulnerabilities stacked by P/D #2 and #5. I’ve been testing with Merciful Ambush lately, 2 seconds isn’t much and I can’t really tell whether is it good. Shadow’s refuge is brilliant, especially for stealth ressing, and life steal combo for the projectile folks.

Warrior - The Worst Class in WVW

in Warrior

Chopchop.6354

Hello everyone. I am not here to discuss that Warriors is the worst class in WVW cause it is a fact, my question is: what warrior’s are supposed to do in wvw ? We doesn’t have the best damage, best CC or best survival. What we have is mobility so warrior’s are supposed to run at wvw ?

Simply not true, it all depends on your commander’s tactics. In T1 NA there are guilds running a lot of Hammer warriors. If your commander loves to charge and go nuts, then you’re in luck. The problem is, a warrior’s role is too specific and lack of a strong “bench warmer” set-up.

thinking of switching from g.sword to hammer

Since you’re PVE heavy, i shall discuss on the PVE aspect. Damage wise GS is far superior. Hammer is for control, but the type of control is very specific if you’re against a boss (you will need a well coordinated group and specific boss). On paper other weapons do better ; GS & Axe for damage, Mace for weakness, swords for bleeds. End of the day, whatever weapon you like matters. I love hammer but I see it’s flaws against bosses, hence I run Hammer & Axe/shield (with range weapons in the bag) for dungeons. It’s a very versatile set.

Hammer vs. Greatsword in PVE/Dungeons

interrupt annoying skills > kill 10% faster.

from AC Scavengers leaping skill to breaders to fractal harpys knockback shoot to removing defiant of bosses,… I’ll always prefer a good hammer buddy than a full dps with no other use. Specially for dungeons.

Problem is that situations where CC is “nice to have” are far rarer than situations where just bulldozing through with as much damage as possible is preferable. Mobs like AC Scavengers are in the minority, sadly. It would make for a more diverse and interesting gameplay if there were more like them.

QFT, I love the hammer but there are a lot more times where a GS comes in handy than a Hammer. It’s not just the defiant stacks, the coordination of the team to ensure that they don’t simply throw out CC, only to mess interrupting the boss during the sweet period of lack of defiant. Besides that, the fact that there are bosses where you simply don’t interrupt as it is quite useless or you can’t really judge it’s skill animations. i.e. Arah dungeons.

Here is my suggestion if you love hammers, play a hammer +axe/shield, it utilizes the same trait slot i.e. 20% reduction in hammer/shield cd, if you’re worried about dmg. Remember to bring a range weapon just in case. But TBH, most groups I run with aren’t strict about what weapon (and build) you’re running if you can carry your own weight, unless you’re in COF p1 farm (very anal people imo) and Arah p4.
