Yup, I’ve been getting disconnects too.
Yup, I’ve been getting disconnects too. And always during the Marionette event.
Ok, doing that seemed to do the trick, logged in and played for a while after that.
Ok, restarted the puter and opened it with -repair on. Managed to login, looks like it is verifying the files before starting the game. Will let you guys know if I’m able to get into the game.
Just got this issue. I got the patch tonight, did Mad King Says, got disconnected. Reconnected the internet, tried to login, but got disconnected (the entire internet connection) when trying to load up the launcher.
Hope this gets fixed since it seems alot of people are experiencing it.
It’s happening to me as well. Everyone in cities have their weapons drawn out.
I just noticed it in LA and was checking to see if I wasn’t the only one who noticed. Glad I’m not the only one. As others have said, it seems to happen with the Fade-In distance. Anyone in your immediate vicinity has their names turned off, those in this distance will have their names on.
I took a picture to show what I mean.
(yeah, my fps sucks in places with large crowds, I’ve learned to live with it, lol)
Missing mine as well, glad I’m not the only one. Hope it gets fixed soon!
Anyone else notice that the Sun and Moon rise to a certain spot and stay there all day and all night long? And then in the morning and evening, they set within a few seconds, no time for the “magic hour”. With the beauty of the rest of the game, I found it quite odd. It robs us of an opportunity to see some amazing sunrises and sunsets that I know the graphics team can whip up.
I’d really love to see them update the sky graphics to give us a more realistic path for the sun and moon.
Anyone else seeing this? In the Queen’s Throne Room instance, there’s these really weird squares and polygons of light and shadow on the rock, ceiling and floor. I don’t remember seeing them before and they don’t show up in other pictures of the Throne Room. I’m logging it here instead of Tech Support because I haven’t seen this bug anywhere else in the game. Only in the Queen’s Throne Room.
I upped and lowered my graphics settings and even updated my graphics driver to the newest one, and they are still there. Anyone else seeing these? Any way to possibly fix it if its on my end?
In the area around Canach’s Lair and in Canach’s lair itself(at least, that’s where I’ve mostly been since the update, could happen elsewhere) the audio for the UI keeps turning off. All the other audio is fine(except for the voiceovers in the Canach’s Lair SP mode, as other people have said), but I can’t hear the “whoosh” of opening up a window, or the victory sound when completing the missions, or the click noise when clicking on NPCs.
It started happening on today’s update.
Same here. Could hear Kiel but couldn’t hear Canach or Oakaxe.
yup, same thing happened. Thanks, ANET for working on giving us compensation.
If you haven’t seen the news post, here it is: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Disconnect-at-the-end-of-Lost-Shores-Event-Read-this/first#post788769
Those of us who participated but couldn’t get the rewards will be getting them soon. Thank you very much, ANET, I’m sure this’ll be some solace for those who couldn’t finish the event due to disconnection problems.
I only hope that Wintersday will not be as buggy. Please see this weekend as a learning experience, ANET, and make sure the next event go as smoothly as possible. Again, thank you very much.
You know, I see the word “kitten” so much in this forum, I think they should put kittens in the game. Maybe as an equipable item that gives you stats and follows you around. Or even as a minipet, seeing as we already have an adult cat minipet. Or maybe even as an elite skill where it attacks your enemy with claws while being cute! And maybe you can get the kitten from an npc who says “It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.”
Seriously, who doesn’t love kittens? GW2 needs more kittens.
Was in event for almost 3 hours got to last boss, died, went to wave point then got stuck on loading screen for a few minutes, then dc’d. When I got back couldn’t loot
exact same issue. At least it looks like they’re working on it.
We have a team looking into disconnection problems that prevented some people from receiving their event rewards.
We will update you as soon as we have more information available.
Thank you, and we apologize that you were unable to claim your rewards.
THANK YOU! I hope you find a way to compensate us who participated but couldn’t get the items.
Looks like they merged this thread, so I’m guessing they are aware of this issue, and I think we’ll be hearing an answer about this shortly.
I’m not raging, I enjoyed the multi-part event, just disappointed the loading screen crashed right at the end when I was rerezzing because I fell into the lava pool and i did not get the items.
As livid as I am (because I experienced the same mishap) I wonder how, if at all, ArenaNet will go about fixing this. It just seems very improbable that they’ll make an attempt to fix it as there were people who disconnected before the Ancient Karka was defeated (as I did), after it was defeated, and everywhere in-between.
How exactly will they be able to distinguish who suffered the loss and who didn’t? That is, if they even try to, which I personally think they should; many people are left disappointed after all.
Well they were able to tell who did the halloween events so that they could get the items if they couldn’t so maybe they have an event log of each user.
I feel your pain, but please consider the logistics of what you’re asking Anet to do.
How do they determine who was disconnected and who wasn’t? Should they just take everyone’s word for it who gets on the forums and complains about it? That’s certainly not a definitive way to do it. Do their logs have a way of reflecting disconnects? Possibly, but I’m going to say they probably don’t.
How do they give the rewards, if they can figure out who deserves them? Do they mail it? That’s likely not as easy as it sounds, because I doubt they’ve made a system for running the loot tables and mailing it. Do they spawn a chest only certain people can see, wherever they are? That could be possible. Maybe.
Furthermore, should Anet really make a habit of giving free things to people that just get unlucky? Don’t get me wrong, Anet isn’t completely off the hook for what happened to you guys, but let’s face it, accidents happen, and Anet can’t go around fixing every little accident that happens for the rest of the game’s lifespan. And if they start now, that’s what they’ll have to do.
Again, I’m not trying to be offensive or insensitive to any of you unfortunate souls. I know it sucks, but before you get your expectations up, I can tell you right now, what you’re asking for is not nearly as simple as you think it is.
Well they did have an npc after halloween give the event item to those who couldn’t get it, but did participate in the events. I can see them doing that for this one.
Ditto. Chest despawned by the time I was able to get back in (loading screen crash) and run back. What a waste of time!
I had the loading screen crash too after falling into the lava along with lots of other in my server.
I’m thinking they’ll put an npc in lion’s arch to give items to those who participated in the event like they did at halloween.
I must admit, even though I missed the items, which irks me, I did enjoy the event, despite all the issues.
For Christmas, please, ANET, lay back on the complicated stuff. Make it easier and less complicated. Maybe a scavenger hunt and a snowball fight. That’ll be good.
I missed the event due to getting disconnected at the last second, as did many others. So, please, ANET, either make an npc that’ll give the items to those who participated in the event, like you did with halloween, or mail the items to us.
Happened to me because everyone fell into the lava and during rerez over at Owain’s the loading screen froze but the sound continued and I could still hear the explosion. Reloaded the client, and couldn’t get the items.
In the final phase, many of us fell into the lava pit and could not rerez. As I rerezzed over at Owain, the loading screen would not finish and I heard the explosion. When the loading screen STILL would not finish, I restarted the client to see if I could still get the items. Nope. And I wonder if everyone who fell into that lava pit were denied the item too because of being stuck at the loading screen.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed today’s event despite some lag. I do think that you should make the items available from an npc, like what happened after halloween.
Definitely the skull of the “Leviathan” from one of the trailers which is suspected of being the DSD’s champion
I recommend turning down the sound quality before such huge battles to lessen the possibility of getting the siren.
There’s a thread about it in the bugs section. I usually get in the midst of huge battles, though I haven’t gotten it during this event though,
Alot of the music, at least in the lower-level areas, is recycled from GW1. So you’re basically hearing 7-8 year old music.
They look like facehuggers.
That too, and I think that’s where the concept started. I enjoyed the reference though.
I’m thinking it just recently rose, particularly the coral-infested part.
Anyone else make the connection? They look similar, plus the Hatchlings jump and attach themselves to your head.
Now that I’ve made the connection, I’m somewhat disappointed there are no Consortium Headcrab Zombies on the isles. Since there are already crowbars in the game, grabbing one and smacking some hatchlings and zombies around would’ve been AWESOME.
Heh, yeah, the VA is definitely channeling Brian Blessed. That must explain why its so awesome.
There’s also the Rising of Orr, which caused some massive shifts in the land.
Now i guess I’m not the only one who felt a little tinge of regret at the design of the WvW and sPvP areas, which, despite being in the Mists, don’t look anything at all like the Mists in GW1.
In GW1, all the Mist areas had an otherworldly vibe to them. Most of them did not look like anywhere else in the game. In Gw2, the WvW and sPvP Mist areas looked like every other part of the game. Now, I know that the Mists are made up of different planes, and i kind of get the feeling that the GW2 Mist areas are meant to be fragments or memories, perhaps, of real Tyria locations and events. For example, the Battle of Khylo, which may be a recreation of the actual Battle of Khylo during the Guild Wars. Same too with the Legacy of the Foefire. Still, they lack the otherworldlyness of the Mists we know.
And now, the Mad King’s Realm brings back the otherworldly look of the Mists, and I am very pleased with that. The empty voids, the floating “islands” and such are very evocative of the Realm of Torment. I hope to see more areas of the Mists like this in the future!
Anyone know who it is? It sounds really familiar, though I can’t pin it down. It’s a really awesome voice, though. Fits him perfectly.
Provern Shore in Gendarren fields has about 4-5 portals close to one another. Good place to farm, there’s usually a zerg there.
I agree, it does get distracting, especially during the first few hours of the event last night. In GW1, Costume Brawl was instanced, so hopefully next year it’ll be instanced too. I can see them easily making it a instanced minigame.
Has anyone gotten the first tier of this achievement yet? I thought getting the Mad Memoirs would get this achievement, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Devs, is it bugged, or will there be something else soon(like the hint about the Ascalon Settlement tower) to activate it?
Ok, was wondering.
Is this about "Halloween events completed "? Yeah, I got the Mad Memoires and it didn’t budge.
Has anyone gotten the first “Halloween events completed” achievement for getting Mad Memoires?
Prepare for more bad jokes on the 31st. If you’re new to Guild Wars bad jokes are pretty much the Mad King’s Modus Operandi.
This is about the titles we get from achievements. Anyone else notice that there’s two titles for “Ascendant”? One is for building up the hall of Monuments in GW1, while the other is through earning a certain amount of points in sPvP. I find it quite odd that there is one name for doing two very different things. I’m sure it was an oversight, but I’m thinking one or the other needs to change.
There’s armor clipping with pretty much everything. I’m hoping they fix this but I’m guessing it’ll be awhile before they do. Maybe in a big content-adding patch or something.
Happened to me again tonight…well, not quite, but close. Was in WvW and the audio in heavy battles was getting choppy, which usually precedes the “alarm”. Luckily, I didn’t get the “alarm”.
I think we’ll see Dervish as a returning class in the expansion that takes places in Elona
