Auto Attack activates when using "Retreat" with Scepter equiped (guardian)
Posted by: CodySheffield.4385
8 months later, and this is still happening… It’s not just the scepter, its a sword or anything else as well. This completely nullifies the usefullness of this ability. If an enemy is nearby, and you have a ranged weapon equipped, or a melee with an enemy nearby, then you are SCREWED. You can use your imagination in how this constantly gets you killed in WvW. PLEASE fix this Anet.
PLEASE bring this back Anet. I’m a player joining a little late in the game and didn’t have the opportunity to afford this item either, but I would really like to get the whole set as it becomes available.
It is a REAL shame that newer players can’t enjoy past content. I know that’s a perk of being an active member, but some of us don’t control when we can come into the game (Real life is a pain like that). That adventure box event, I was VERY disappointed I missed out on. I would have loved to live the nostalgia of 90’s gaming, but because I came in near the end of the event, too new to understand how level scaling worked, I never even had a chance.
Anet, please consider implementing a method where newer players can enjoy older content. Like a time machine or virtual reality or whatever. Doesn’t matter. And wouldn’t more content be better for the game as a whole anyways? Maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree here, but I can dream can’t I?
Haha, thank you Jeff. I wasn’t expecting this much help from game staff, it’s a pleasant surprise. But it sure has left me feeling awfully sheepish. I guess I’m one of those unfortunate people who need things to be pointed out for them, or they just never figure it out. Thank you yet again!
Well, I’m lost again. Having completed Retribution, I am now on the quest “Forging the Pact”. The objective is to “Read Trahearne’s Letter”. There is no waypoint active in the world indicating where to go, no hints given in the quest log, and no letter in my inventory. If it’s referring to the letter of recommendation that I recieved as a reward for the last story quest, I used it immediately after recieveing it, before leaving the Retribution quest area and the quest updating. Am I missing something yet again? Or did I truly mess up this time?
Ugh… nevermind. I JUST noticed there’s a green marker over the head of the NPC. On the deck of the ship, it just kind of floats above the surface, easily overlooked. My bad.
Thank you for your quick reply. I hope there’s a chance this can be clarified in the quest tracker on the right to prevent this confusion in the future. When you think about it, I don’t understand how any player is supposed to just “figure it out” without any visible markers? Thank you again for such a quick response, and keep fighting the good fight.
I’m a level 80 Norn Warrior, catching up on my personal story. I chose to join the Vigil, and chose to recruit the 2 Charr to help in the fight against Zhaitan. I just started the quest “Retribution” where I go to an instance of Claw Island from Lions Arch. The quest says “Defeat Zhaitan’s forces, and retake Claw Island” and then more specifically “Join the assault force at Claw Island”.
When I arrive past the loading screen into the instance, I’m on a boat, with the faction leaders and Trahearne in front of me. I’ve tried speaking to all, nothing happens. Once I leave the boat to fight the risen, they are all invincible and cannot be damaged. Up the path to the right is a closed gate barring my way, and to the left is a stairway leading up to a champion near the top of the lighthouse which can be attacked along with 2-3 other NPCs up there. (Killed them, didn’t do anything).
There are 2 whispers agents on the dock immediately off the ship that keep running up to the and down the docks like they are going to attack something but then change their minds. No other NPCs on the boat will move, no matter what I do or where I go. I have attempted relogging and reentering the instance, and the same thing happens. This is about as broke as it can get unless there’s something I’m missing. If that’s the case, it needs to be clearly labeled in the quest. But I’ve tried everything that makes sense.
Please fix this when you can ArenaNet. Also, when the events fail, the NPCs don’t despawn, they all gather in front of Anchorage. So basically regardless how well you do, when you get to Anchorage, you are faced with an army of undead that will down you in less than a second. This event is very, VERY broke, and keeps anyone needing anything in Anchorage from achieving it.
Edit: The event seems to be called “Gates of Arah”. It starts with “The pact are preparing to establish a forward base.” before it actually starts the escort. I consistently cannot get them through the first wave without them losing over half their morale, leaving the event failed after the second wave appears. I’ve seen 3 waves with a group, there maybe more, but once the enemy waves throw down their AOEs, and the big behemoth spawns in the third wave, your pretty much screwed.

I left another MMO for a reason all too similar to this (several months without a fix or so much as an acknowledging statement), and chose to give ArenaNet my confidence. PLEASE ArenaNet, do something about this, and don’t leave your players hanging. AT LEAST give us something to put our minds at ease.
On the Dragonbrand server, the event is uncompletable. The harpies attack nonstop, 3/5 tests completed, the Charr doesn’t have anymore cows and there’s no way to supply him with more. The event does not end, it just goes on and on and on. Why won’t it just fail, and restart some other time? Like the others here, unable to complete the map as a result. Been enjoying a top rate quality game otherwise, lots of fun.
At the north entrance of the fortified camp in Nentor Valley (Lomar’s Pass), there is a wagon to the east of the entrance. There are multiple skritt on top of eachother (animating in place, looks very wierd) in one place next to one of the wheels of the wagon, and they are all friendly (all the others around doing what they are supposed to be are red).
If this has been suggested already, I apologize (I did a search). My suggestion is very minor. I’d like an option to have a sound play everytime someone speaks in a channel. This is a great game, and I REALLY get into it. But I find that I keep missing when a guild mate is trying to speak to me, because there’s nothing drawing my attention to the window. Being able to enable a sound, or configure sounds on a per channel basis would be excellent.
I’ve been playing this game for about a week and a half now, and I LOVE IT! Thank you ArenaNet!!!
