Bump for my old GW1 friends, good luck to you all on EU!
If you’re seeking a roleplaying guild that’s got long history and well thought out structure, do check out FK.

Mother-in-law asking me for the nth time, “When are you having kids?” – dodge roll.
Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server, so you may have better luck finding RP there.
This is a link to the GW2 RP forums, and you’ll find a metric ton of RP guilds recruiting there: http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/
What I look for:
-server
-guild size
-guild focus (casual/hardcore, PvE/WvW/PvP)
-guild events
Grats to the winner, hope you enjoy your phat loot!
Thanks for the contest OP. I do think your reasoning was well thought out.
I find your very healthy approach to gaming, and life in general it seems, to be out of step with MMO forums. If you wish to remain here with the rest of us, I believe you should re-think this approach and rage at the game designers for not locking you into an addiction cycle.
I love this post! +1
I spent money in the shop to buy extra character slots, and I probably will drop a few more bucks in it next week for Halloween goodies.
I feel zero remorse; I enjoy the game, I like fluff, and most importantly, it’s my money to spend as I choose.
Don’t lose sleep over it, OP. It’s just a video game.
Personally, before the game ever launched, I told all my friends that GW2 was most likely going to be my last MMO. So I feel it’s fitting that I’ve treat it casually – I don’t play every day, I don’t feel the need to grind the uber stuff, when I log in it’s to do whatever whim dictates… PvP? PvE?… rather than knowing I need to be at a certain raid at a certain time.
My spouse and I have been playing these games for well over a decade (my spouse has 16 years under his belt, starting with The Realm in ‘96). We’re just tired of the genre as a whole – some things have changed over time, others have not. It’s just getting near retirement time for us, I think.
So, yes, I totally understand you OP! Reading a good book (what a coincidence too, I’m buying myself an ereader soon to replace my physical books), sitting in my garden, having a glass of wine sounds really good right about now.
I have 10 character slots filled but most of them are simply nameholders. I played GW1 and want to remake my characters at some point in the future.
Of the characters I actually play now, I have an 80 engineer, 80 guard, and now a 21 mesmer that I’m playing up.

My spouse actually shelved his mid level ranger alt after we’ve run across bot group after bot group in Orr (all rangers with brown bear pets).
We report every one we find – hopefully we get them all, it’s kind of hard to make sure you get each individual one though since they’re usually stacked – but it just looks so bad to regular joe schmoe players like us.
Wooo can’t wait for the Halloween event! I’ve missed the Mad King all these years.
Understand completely! I too have some very good friends/guildies that I usually adore playing with… but there are some days when I’m not in the best of moods and really don’t feel like being social. And I’ve been the victim of the “why isn’t your alt representing?” PM too. :/
I’d prefer to play GW2, but due to how badly the game actually makes you “invisible” I probably won’t log in at all on the wonky days.
I seem to wind up having great experiences with jumping puzzles.
The shark’s cave in LA – my first time through not knowing anything at all – I wound up teaming up with this random Charr and we stumbled through it all together. So much fun! Getting lost in the maze, navigating the traps, and the pitch black room I helped her get across because I had a torch equipped (and neither of us thought to turn up our gamma lol).
Just a few days ago my spouse and I were in Straights of Devastation doing the vista in the ranger pet cave and we ended up staying about an hour because so many people were dying by missing their jump! One of us stayed at the bottom to rez fallers, the other climbed up and tried to show people how to jump across the branches to nab the vista.
I think I may make a concerted effort to spend some time in the lowbie areas with my 80s.
Very kind of you to make this offer. I think my guardian would enjoy having a Dawn and so I’ll toss my hat in the ring!
You have a good Halloween too.
Playable: Norn (I like the whole spirit/shamanism thing)
Nonplayable: Tengu, and whatever the underwater harpy/elf-with-wings is in Mount Maelstrom.
Posting in this thread again. As stated previously, I have tried every fix listed to no avail.
This is incredibly frustrating – it took me 6 tries to complete the Claw Island mission because of the errors. By the time I finally finished I couldn’t care less about the story, I was just happy it was finally done.
Any light of hope here for this?
Bought two copies for my spouse & I, and a third copy for a good friend.
I don’t regret the purchases at all.
I’m not in a hurry to cap. Figured I’d take my time and make my gametime stretch with GW2.
I have two characters I’m playing, levels 67 and 61. A good portion of my time is actually spent helping my lower-leveled friends so I haven’t even really run content at my level yet.

I would definitely consider buying:
Character services – renames, appearance changes
Fluff – more armor cosmetics, new hairstyles, cosmetic weapons, more town clothes, more mini pets, ranger pet skins, special emotes ala GW1 original collector edition
I never buy gambles like the Black Lion Keys or temporary buffs, so those things don’t interest me in the slightest.
Hey thanks for starting this thread, the same happened to me just now. Logged in and saw 4 spammer mails. Reported and deleted 3 of them, but the fourth had one copper attached. I took the copper and deleted, but in retrospect grew concerned I’d be tagged in connection to the spammer.
Return to Sender is a better idea – will use that in the future!
I’ve been having this same issue. My spouse and I play GW2 together, and we both crash with the error 58 message a few times each night. We never crash at the same time though, it just seems to sporadically happen.
I’ve tried all the listed fixes: adding /clientport and the -authsrv to the shortcut, opening the ports listed in the support section, checking for stray port triggers (none), making sure GW2 is allowed by my firewall (it is). We use MSE AV and I did disable it temporarily but it didn’t make a difference as I still crashed.
I’m not sure what else to try from here. This is incredibly annoying – it took me 5 tries to complete one single storyline quest because of error 58 crashes, which totally ruined that part of the story for me.
I’d urgently like to know this as well, as I just had an unauthorized attempt to log into my account. While I’ve changed my password I’d really feel better if I could change my email too.
