Hmm, not sure what you mean Cover Girl lol. So tell me if what I am saying is what you were saying xD.
I think what the OP is saying is he would like an elite NPC to aid in the fights between servers. You would somehow “recruit it” (build it or some kind of achievement or maybe a replacement for the outmanned buff?). You could only have one of him and he would have a TON of health while put out a TON of damage, or perhaps different variations of such an epic NPC that could give amazing boons to teammates? He would still be killable of course, but nowhere near as easy as to kill one of the NPC’s at at the keep or campsites.
This is what I was thinking about. You guys pointed out it would be hard to code for an NPC like this, and I agree…
But it would be worth it! Right?
(I liked the idea that it might be more available to the underdog of a game. Good idea).
I meant that we don’t want there to be demigod players among mortals. Something went wrong with the formatting. :/
So… Let me be clear. I love the world vs. world system. It’s such a cool idea and it works so well (in my opinion). It also is amazing how epic it can get. But I feel there’s something missing…
You know how in fantastic stories there’s often great battles, but the presence of some hero or person suddenly changes the tide of battle and strikes fear in the hearts of enemies? Sort of like when a great wizard inters the scene on the good guys or bad guys side. He’s not unbeatable, but definitely a person to be feared among the men. Well, in WvW we are the regular soldiers on the battlefield and while there’s many different types of us with different roles to play, no one person is like a demikittenong mortals. That’s probably for the better, because we don’t want their to be players who are just kick-but among others. That’s no fun.
So, how would it be if there were NPC Champions and Beasts that appeared occasionally around the eternal battlegrounds, that could be one over to fight in some big battle that the players direct for a territory. These guys would not be invincible, or armies of NPCs, just powerful individuals that held the power to turn the tide of battle. I’m just looking for ways to make battles in the WvW have more epic events and stories behind them. How about it? thumbs up or thumbs down?
With the Moa Morph right… but the others effect five people at a time?
and no. I love it that there’s finally some elite skills that aren’t underwhelming. After playing the Elementalist through, I was sort of disappointed by its elite skills. This looks much more promising.
Really, so it can only effect 5 people at a time? That’s still really good though…
Don’t get me wrong, I do like it.
So I was reading over the Mesmer Elite skills in the GW2 wiki, (I just started playing with the profession) and couldn’t help but notice that all the Mesmer Elite skills seem… I don’t know… maybe…
OP!!!! For group play. I mean… time warp?! That’s 10 second of quickness for you and all your allies with no drawbacks! And Moa Morph for 10 seconds as well? How about cloaking your entire team for 6 seconds with the Mass invisibility and glamor trait?
I had no idea… Is this as good as it seems or am I over doing it? Are there hits on the goodness of these skills that I’m unaware of? Thanks.
So does anyone have a build centered mainly around Elixirs. How good are they? I think for support purposes that the Supply Crate would be better for the elite skill, but what about the utility skills and traits? Any ideas?
I felt the same way. When I read what this signet does I started planning a whole build around it to protect my team from conditions and ruin the opposing teams day. When I learned about the bug I was crushed.
I hope they fix it soon because I would love to use it in combination with epidemic!
Nice. Thanks everyone.
Thanks guys. I’ll try rearranging my keys.
Are there any Minion builds out there?
Interesting. I love the warhorn skills. Thanks.
So… what’s your build for a Conditionmancer? How do you Trait? what utility skills do you use? and what weapons do you prefer?
I’d like some ideas for this build and any help would be appreciated. I’ve come up with one of my own but I’m not convinced its the best.
Also, what do you do for a Tough Minion Master?
Thanks.
“And yes, I don’t reverse.”
Ojimaru, I totally lol’d after looking for it.
Thanks guys. I’m already trying a new setup and after I get used to it, I think it will work better.
So… I Love This Game!!!!
But I’m having a problem. I get really frustrated with the keys placement. For example, my right hand is on the mouse all the time, and I have the left on the movement keys “w” “s” and “q” and “e”. From this position I can quickly access attacks 1, 2, 3, and 4, but go any father to 5, 6, 7… etc. And I find myself unable to locate the keys without taking my eyes of the screen or using my mouse and clicking the attacks. Using my mouse is OK for most utility skills but for ground targeted ones its frustrating to go back and forth.
Also, the “F” keys for the special mechanics are impossible for my fingers to successfully reach without hitting the wrong things first. I never had to use those keys in typing this message, so I’m not used to finding them in a pinch.
So… in the heat of the battle, regardless of what profession I’m playing as, I catch myself hitting the wrong keys, missing entire attack builds that I had planned, and getting my but kicked because I’m being forced to break eye contact with the enemy to find the right keys. Either that or take my mouse from the ground around my enemies’ feet and adjusting the camera.
This is very frustrating… so how do you guys solve this problem? And if you reassign key functions, what is your set up? Thanks. I’m really looking forward to a solve on this issue.
PS: I love this community!
So… I played Mesmer for a bit and was I frustrated with some of the weapons. I tried using a sword/sword combo and found I just wasn’t making enough clones. When I got them out they distracted the enemy quite well, but I still never had enough.
But then I used a Scepter I was much happier with the clone production. So I’m still debating what to use as my offhand, (pistol, focus, or torch). I’m also not sure what other weapon I want to use as a switch on level 7. Staff or Great Sword?
So I’m curious… What weapons do you guys use, and why do you like them? Also, what utility skills do you think are best? I mostly play PvE by myself and WvW with friends, so if you could suggest weapons for those styles that would be great. Thanks.
If you use Venomous Aura and then equip several venoms you can spread them to your allies so everyone can use them. That’s good right?
I also enjoy a conditions play style. Power is less appealing to me.
But I also had hopped that in dungeon runs, plague signet would good for helping the team, and that life siphoning would be more effective. if you maxed out Blood Magic, and debugged plague signet, do you think a group condition remover might be possible? If they buff these things along with life siphon that would be nice. Also, group activity against NPCs changes things.
PS: interesting breaking down of bleed Mathemagician. throw epidemic at the end of all the bleed stack and you’ll be laying down some real pain on everyone.
That’s a cool idea. Spite + epidemic sounds fun.
I searched builds online… not much luck. Most seem out of date. Sort of beta builds. Do you guys think much will change as they debug the Necro?
And how effective is simply running “conditions”? Do you survive long enough for them to really cut down on your opponent, because it seems like minions just has so little health.
Ah, so “conditions master” in terms of the plague signet isn’t really a viable option right now…
And your suggesting not to run traits for your minions, Mathmagician? what traits would you suggest instead?
OK, so i’m new to this profession and am trying some things out. What do you guys think? . . .
For PvE on my own, I’m running a hardy trait build with emphasis on minions, health sapping and death shroud. I use Signet of Locusts instead of bone minions though, and I run a scepter/focus, and dagger/warhorn. So far its been going really good, and I’m hard to kill, but I’m curious what other minion builds or just solo PvE builds people have come up with? Any other ideas?
Also, PvE dungeon and group builds interest me. I’m thinking of going for a master of conditions Necro. He would run Plague Signet/Epidemic/Corrosive Poison Cloud, and would use Staff & Scepter/dagger combo. This would maximize my ability to manage group and enemy conditions. But I’m not sure what traits he should run…
So, community… what other PvE builds have you come up with? Let us know what weapons and utility skills you use, and how it all comes together with your traits. Also, what do you struggle with when using this build?
Finally, do any of you know of any websites that host GW2 build conversations?
I also think the elementalist, (like the Mesmer) was more meant to work in groups. But it doesn’t have to.
Well, I don’t know what all the arguing is about but my experience with the elementalist was very different. I run two daggers and use crowed control powers when NPC’s crowd me. I kill them quickly by constantly switching elements and keep kitting. It keeps me alive (mostly). That’s how I have fun.
When I’m in groups I use a staff and just hang back and have fun dropping fire balls on my enemies and rain on my allies. A ton of fun. No complaints.
Same here. Tried to revive a friend and only saw a cool animation, and my friend still on the ground. Please fix!
I had the same problem. then I switched to dagger/dagger when I was on my own. The air and earth skills with this set give you a lot of crowd control for when your surrounded. Also I make heavy use of elementals to distract enemies.
Staffs are more for group play.
Be sure to switch freely between elements when you’ve used all the skills for one so they have time to recharge and you don’t lose your momentum. You have to keep your enemies down and taking damage. You also have to keep moving. The elementalist is too fragile to just sit still with one element equiped.
Hope this helps!
