I thought the goal was to fix WvW and to get more people into it. This change will make WvW even more frustrating. It’s amazing how ANet is pandering to high population servers.
If my memory doesn’t fail me white swords popped in the past instantly , then it was delayed by 30 seconds or so . We got the orange swords which popped for groups larger than 5 which was then changed to 25. All those changed were made after complains came from high pop servers.
Now the white swords are going to be removed completely. Every of those changes made it more difficult for lower population server. Never have I seen an idea so counter productive and nor have I seen the “ANet” tag during adopt a dev.
Then we have another forum thread about server imbalance this change is going to make it worse. At some point people are going to burn out and leave all together.

It sure is hard to stay positive. Seems like WvW is going to turn into EoM 2.0

Some of the performance change is related to the network I think.
The Guildwars2 API used to have a latency between 40-60ms and this was rock solid for the most. Now it’s more between 200-500ms with very frequent spikes both ways down to 60ms or up to 2000ms and anything in between.

Balanced matches are sure the most fun.
Complain about balance coming from Kain now seems a little hypocritical.

I remember the time when Kain got the huge influx of guilds, rolling the bottom for weeks nonstop with scores of 600+ and after they broke out of the bottom tier every other match up until they hit T2.

In the past rollings others seemed just fine but now on the receiving end once in a while is not fair.

Go figure …

World Names 404

GW2 Battle Stats is a Windows application to monitor activities in Guildwars2 WvW. You can make use of your second screen , the Logitech G13/15/19 or follow a match when you are not in Guildwars2.

You get information about current scores , PPT , last owner changes ( Righteous Indignation buff ) , Bloodlust buff (and location), guild claims , objectives owned , number of owner changes , PPT timeline , sound notifications and popup messages for events. All this is displayed in a Dialog and Map.

Internal Guild Emblem rendering, zoom-able mini-map , sortable objective list , re-sizable map and map tooltips.

The composition of the WvW scores seem to be skewed towards EB with close to 90%
of a team score coming from EB. Is this just temporary and has something to do with this weeks downtime and a score adjustment ?

Yes smiley I seen this , it just doesn’t appear if you look as the resulting name if they have some unicode characters in it. But maybe I’m mistaken.

No they are not and nor is any timer in the API. But If you pop the map every 15 seconds or so in game you get a pretty good handle when the Righteous Indignation is going to end. They make Countdown Timers for the desktop and game controllers come with them too ( like the G13 ). You don’t have to be a scout to check the map frequently.

Then you would have to remove the map in game altogether including the mini map.
You get the same information there, just need to check the map frequently and take notes. We used to do this. Scouting is more for troop movement and such and there is no api data for this kind of information.

Use of Guild Emblems

Since there is no API call to get rendered guild emblems you need to render them yourself. In this case you need to make use of the base background and emblems
found in the wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gallery_of_guild_emblems

What are the rules on using them ?
Or did I miss an API call to get the base images through the API ?

One thing is for sure, with the old colors there was a clear difference between blue and green. Now they almost look the same.

Match-Details needs a timestamp when the objective changed hands the last time. To reduce the load on the API and in case of mobile apps to reduce data use. The upgrade status of an objective would be a nice addition as well.

I’m wondering if ANET thought about adding streams and feeding them only the current event / detail / map changes ?

What I noticed in WvW is that NPCs have the PvE value applied and if hit by players it has the sPvP value (33% reduction) .

You’re now noticing how often Retaliation backlashes you with the UI changes. Pre-patch, Retaliation did 33% more damage; you just didn’t know because the combat log is terrible.

Retaliation needs an internal cooldown to normalize it versus every Profession. It doesn’t make any sense why some Professions absolutely destroy themselves vs. it (Engineers using Grenade Barrage) while others aren’t affected as much.

You hitting more than one target and paying the price for it.
Don’t push mindless buttons and watch the buffs and/or debuffs on you.
They added them for a reason !

The point is not that the guardian retaliates the dmg. It’s the entire zerg because not only the guardians have retal on them but almost everyone if a good zerg buffs each other.
You are always talking about us dealing 1k-2k and getting back 370 damage.
My ranger is bunker. So I dish out an average of lets say 2k per person and get back 15k damage. That doesnt seem fair at all.
My hits deal only around 300-400 damage per shot – 600-700 crit which is only every 5th hit (bunker) and I get back 370 per hit.
And my damage is divided on the zerg which means I won’t really hurt anyone but I die of one use of the skill.

The problem are the many small hits that retal alot more dmg than you actually do to single persons in the zerg.
Same thing for flamethrower. It does small damage and retals alot more damage than he does.
That is the main problem.
And an ICD of let’s say 0.5 sec does not harm the guardian in 1v1 at all. The thing it would change is zerg vs zerg. And that is what is needed for the classes that deal lots of small damage numbers and getting hurt for lot (300-400 per).

A flamethrower does small damage ? really ?

If you receive 15k in retaliation damage and say ~300 retaliation damage per hit.
This means you hit 50 times !

Be aware during a fight.

The Flamethrower has large cone area. So you doing damage not to one but multiple targets. So if all you targets have retaliation that’s what you get. If you want to dish out big you need to be ready the receive big as well.

4k of damage to 3 people (the engineer had a bit of might stacked to get that amount of damage) and 20k returned is more than 100% of the damage dished out. Take the time to understand how retaliation processes for multi-hit channeling skills compared to other big damage AoE skills.

If I really wanted to be facetious I would write something along the lines of how, if you see an engineer with a flamethrower and might stacked about to dish out big, you should throw your boon strippers at that player rather than QQing about the damage output.

I do know the mechanics behind. My engineer is using a flamethrower and I love it.

The best thing is: people suggest to wait for 10 or so seconds – retal will probably still be there by then.
Ok lets take a zerg of 20 flamethrower/grenade-engineers and 20 longbow/GS-rangers vs another zerg. You know what would happen?
The engineer/ranger zerg would start with their AoE and be down the moment the enmy zerg reaches them. No need to fight on the other side. Just stand there and laugh.
So this cannot be what the devs want WvW to be.
Now lets say there was no retal. The 20 engineers and rangers would have a real chance!
Huge AoE, lots of slows/chills/poison and whatever. They would probably not win due to lack of diversity but it would be an interesting fight.
As it is now this fight would end 1000:0 if the mixed zerg is somewhat competent.

Be aware of your surroundings. Don’t be single minded. Diversity is the beauty of the game. And this compare is just silly.

Maybe paying attention to the fuzzy stuff you character has around your head ( purple or brown ). This might help staying alive.

Guardian “Save Yourselves!” Draw conditions from nearby allies to yourself. Gain multiple boons for a short duration.

You are loaded with conditions you get 7 boons. 7 * 3% that’s 21% damage bonus.

If you run around in groups I think it’s not uncommon to have 4 boons at least.

Class Act ( so I read here before )

Another new T1 strategy well implemented in T8 for a faster success.

Poaching a good size of the active command structure and guild of the opponent server.
The classy part is that you are paying for it at least.

After a few weeks of practicing the methods VK brought to Ferguson a few heads grew
large very quickly and then said the only challenge left was AGG. For the people who are
going to join you the slogan must be “If you can’t beat them , join them”. What an irony.

Obviously Ferguson didn’t enlarge the gates to fit all these big heads.

I’m not sure what this new strategy is called.

“The reverse pain train” ? Maybe ?

It was a fun 2 weeks with balanced match-ups. I doubt we are going to have them like this in the coming ones. For what ever reason it seems that it never passes this threshold and then things start to happen.

Btw. Maybe you should talk to the Gate of Madness night crew as well. This would give you another boost.

Eredon Terrace sure has a great community with all the gold donations collected for the good cause.
Oh … don’t forget to order some keep and tower modification to enlarge the gates for a warm welcome.

Until their arrival I’m sure going to feel funny when I look over my shoulder.

It’s sure funny. I check the server population very frequently.
Over the past weeks we dropped from 6 High population servers to just 3.
HoD , ET and FC been the last High ones. Now suddenly they are Medium.
Might be an easier way to implement the free transfers with changing the population tag.

Sure would been better to do this just related to wvw population and not server.

I say dissolve tier 8 into the other 7 tiers of servers. Close the 3 servers completely and make everyone transfer to a new server for free. Then we do not have to see these threads anymore.

That’s silly. The only thing it would do is to transfer the T8 problems to T7.
The problems are magnified in T1 and T8.

How would it transfer the problem. Lol T7 is one of the closest matches right now.

The problem with Glicko is the top and the bottom of the rankings where you have no place to go anymore. T7 is very balanced this week, who knows how it pans out in following weeks. If you would merge 2 tiers you don’t have any control how the population would distribute. ANet does not foster a balanced WvW population. The fees are based on total server population not on average WvW population but paid transfers are in place mainly because of WvW which doesn’t make much sense.
In the last few weeks NA servers dropped from 6 High population servers to 3 which is good thing. All others are Very High. The 3 High population servers now are ET , FC and HoD. So there is hope that those 3 might fill up too in time.

Map / Chat on second Screen

It would be nice to take advantage of a second screen in GW2 for the map display or a larger version of the mini-map. Another item would be the chat window for the second screen. Ideally a large mini-map and the chat window on the second screen. This would free up the main screen of windows which are some times in the way and present more information at the same time , a longer chat history and a larger map ( the map specially helpful in pvp and wvwvw ). Other games take advantage of a second screen so should GW2.

Anet should just close t7 and t8 servers and have them transfer (For free) to any other server they like.

This is just silly. It’s not about how many are in WvWvW. It’s about closer numbers on the field and not having one server out-man you multiple times.
ANet needs a dynamic system to foster and attract people towards server with lower wvw population in the tier.

The whole FC is a joke. The reason we’re loosing is because we are always on the defensive. The best offensive is the best defense, if we’re always on def, SF is free to pour all their forces into offense. Instead of wasting resource into upgrading on what we can’t def, FC should keep SF busy in their bl with gorilla warfare. Stop zerging and divide your forces into smaller groups.

Sounds more like a karma train mindset. If you fight outnumbered you better try holding what you have because it takes usually fewer to accomplish that. Walls and gates are your friend.
