That’s what I thought until I asked around in-game, and everyone – EVERYONE – I spoke to said they always got it first kill after unlocking the achievement =( asked friends, guildies, and randoms in chat.
Anyone else having this problem? If I’m doing something wrong please let me know, otherwise as far as I can tell it’s a bug that’s blocking my progress
The description reads, “Hint: Defeat the Mark II Golem in Mount Maelstrom”…I’ve killed him at least a dozen times over the past few days on multiple characters and haven’t gotten the Mistward Legging Panel to drop (the last item I need to get the Mistward Legguards). I’ve looked all over the internet and asked many, many people in game, but haven’t heard anything I’m going crazy over this last piece.
To enter you need to be in a Raid squad (or a leaderless squad). The entrance is located in the North East corner of Verdant Brink just east of the Itzel village.
Thank you for this! Much appreciated.
Hey everyone, quick question. Does anyone know where the entrance to Spirit Vale is going to be? I want to make sure all of my characters have access to it, so I would like to know what the barrier to entry is – do I need to complete to HoT story on each char so they can get in? Or can they just run to the entrance?
For players, I’m wondering if anyone saw this in the beta and had an idea.
For devs, if you have a moment to respond, it would be much appreciated. I want to make sure I’m as ready as possible to run Spirit Vale as soon as it launches.
Thanks!
I’m currently having this issue, can’t log into any of my characters
EDIT: No longer having this problem, I can now log in.

i wonder is any chance to find out in which guild I was before,is any history about it ?
To answer the OP’s question, there isn’t any in-game functionality to check what guild you’ve been in in the past. As far as I know, there aren’t any options for a third-party (i.e. website or app) that could do this for you either.
OP all i have to say is this you submitted bug reports on these game breaking bugs you have been encountering correct?
The in-game bug reporting tool was, no joke, bugged. The issues I was having have already been posted, so I’ve just made this post and one other regarding the issues I was having.
Guy is expressing his worries about stability of game build. He says he’ll wait until it’s fixed. Why are there ppl taunting him or asking to get his stuff? He’s not leaving, he’s making a break which is kind of wise if he’s not satisfied with the game now. And some of you dare call yourself “the best mmo community”.
Exactly – thanks! I’m not saying I’m leaving forever, I’m just taking a break (hopefully it’ll only be a couple of days) until these bugs get sorted out. I’ve never said I would quit guild wars (1 or 2), as I feel they’re the top 2 games I’ve ever played. But as I primarily pvp, I’ll be taking a break from the game until the bugs are fixed, as the ones I mentioned are essentially making pvp broken for me.
It has nothing to do with being impatient, or whining about how buggy gw2 is relative to other games (past or present). All I’m saying is how the game currently is causes it to be unplayable for me in the gametype I prefer.
If bugged voices and a game crash are forcing you out, you probably don’t have a lot of patience anyways. I spent 7 years on a game (F2P aka P2W) where bugs were expected to a degree that you can count on at least 20+ people on each server checking after each patch if certain trade/duplicate glitches were re-introduced after being “patched” every so often.
Oh your AOE circle farmed all the herbs in the area it covered? 1-2-Farming Easy Peasy.
Oh World-Boss #1 has a disease condition that affects everyone in a certain radius, and it didn’t reset once leaving the lair and therefore infected the entire game and docked 1000 health each second leaving the game unplayable? Yay.
Oh, you’re auto-attacking the mob you’re standing on, but your “Target is not in range?”
Dexterity stat doesn’t increase at stated percentage and evasion is broken? Have fun Archers- we’ll see you in 5 years when you finally cap and we’ve been sitting here for 4.5 (and lol @ your broken damage for 7 years and still counting).
Oh, a Gladiator can glitch their skills to 0 cool down and break PvP? That glitch existed for years. was patched and showed up again. Utterly hilarious.
I don’t have much sympathy for anyone that complains about a few aesthetic bugs. =/
During ranked PvP matches, things like being able to revive allies, and having client crashes, is a lot more significant than aesthetic bugs. If my issues were strictly aesthetic, I wouldn’t have a problem with it at all; but the bugs that I’m encountering are having a permanent affect on my rank, and for someone as competitive as I am, it’s driving me nuts :P
I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear in my original post – I wasn’t bashing Anet or the game at all! I was mainly just venting some frustration at the fact that I game I enjoy playing more than any other game is having this many issues. It’s not that I’m impatient or don’t understand how game development works (I’ve developed games in the past, and am currently working on a new one – I definitely understand the process of dealing with bugs). This post was mainly venting a bit of frustration after losing multiple ranked PvP matches due to bugs (things outside my control/personal skill level).
Also, I’m a little confused as to how during the QA and testing before the patch dropped none of the developers had these issues listed (voices playing randomly, guild chat not working, client crashes when leaving parties, etc.). I would imagine they tested these things, yet these problems seem to be widespread across the community.
Sorry if I made it sound like Anet isn’t doing a good job! I’ve played gw1 since launch, so there’s no doubt I appreciate the work they do.
So after this patch and the absolutely insane amount of bugs and problems its caused nearly every player, I really don’t mind them pushing the HoT release back much, much further, if it means the expansion will run even HALF as stable as the game is currently. I consider myself lucky to only have a handful of bugs during gameplay; when I read some other players’ comments and posts, it seems that a lot of people have it much worse.
At this point I’m done with GW2 for the time being, until the game gets much more stable – I’ve lost the past few ranked matches due to client crashes and other bugs (which haven’t been an issue until the patch hit). As much as I love GW2, I can’t stand it the way it is now, so I’ll be playing other games until this gets sorted out.
So as much as I want HoT and future game updates, and as much as we all hate the “when it’s ready” we usually get; please, please, PLEASE don’t release anything else until “it’s ready”. Really, really ready.
Nevermind – I changed the revive key, then changed it back to F, and now it seems to work, unless this issue is just intermittent.
Still, with all of the bugs, I’m logging off of gw2 for a while and playing other games until this all gets sorted out – this is insanity
I started having this issue since the patch. Of all the bugs, this one isn’t so bad, but it is a little annoying.
Past few matches I’ve played (since the patch), I haven’t been able to revive allies, no matter what I try. I’ve pressed F once, spammed F, clicked the icon….nothing. Can’t revive at all. Wondering if anyone else has this issue, and/or if there’s a solution anyone knows of.
Like the person above me said, going Invisible, then Online, fixed it for me – although when trying to come back Online, my client crashed. Once I logged back in, everything worked fine, and I was able to talk in guild chat, as well as switch to Invisible/Online without crashing.
Its doing great! Welcome back to the game! Make sure to watch Twitch on Saturday to hear about the upcoming additions to the game.
I loved SAB, and would absolutely love for it to be something we can revisit anytime we want. Please make SAB permanent!
+1
The target spamming is driving me crazy. For those not aware, people NOT in my group can repeatedly call targets and it shows up in my chat window. People will spam targets nonstop, which renders chat useless. You can’t disable it from the default map chat tab.
I love this release, and absolutely love how Anet has incorporated the jumping into the Living Story (including that boss fight where jumping plays a key role in the battle). Love this!!! I would love to see more of this!
And +1 for the (permanent) return of SAB PLEASE!
+100
The concept of a Living World is what lured so many people to the game, and this contradicts it. All I can do now is picture Shatterer looking at his clock, waiting for his alarm to go off so he can fly over Blazeridge Steppes and get hit for 10 minutes by a group of 15-30 people standing on a hill…
More than just nerf stacking, make the whole encounter more difficult…..something (especially a dragon) that large should not be easily killed by a group of ~15 people.
I remember when dragons were actually difficult to kill in games. I had high hopes that GW2 in all of their pre-release notes/comments were going to actually have dragons be challenging. Back when I played NeverWinter Nights (the original), hunting down dragons was incredibly difficult/rewarding. Not to say that GW2 should copy NWN, but the challenge behind killing pretty almost any of the dragons (or, honestly, anything at all except the Hard Core Mega bosses) in GW2 is laughable.
“As part of this change, we will convert all the existing ascended and legendary equipment that is soulbound to be account-bound instead”
Seems like it would encompass anything of the “Ascended” item level. You’ll probably have to get Anet to respond (not likely) with a definitive answer here, or wait until April 15. Sorry :P
Ah, right, I had forgotten the wording of the post. My bad
I feel Anet kept the distinction between an original weapon and “skin” consistent throughout the post. If you craft Twilight, then have ONE (1) Twilight, which is a legendary item. You then have access to convert the LOOK (not Legendary status) of any greatsword so that it LOOKS like Twilight (but does NOT have Legendary status, and cannot be used in the crafting of Eternity, nor does it have the same stats as Twilight). Similarly, you’ll have the skin for Dusk, so you can convert the LOOK of any greatsword so that it LOOKS like Dusk (but is NOT a precursor, and cannot be used as such).
In the example of having crafted Twilight, the end result is this: you have ONE (1) Legendary sword, Twilight. You have 0 precursors, as the one that you had originally was consumed in crafting Twilight. You can convert the LOOK of any greatsword to LOOK like either Dusk or Twilight, but you will not, by virtue of converting the skin of an item, have any additional precursors or legendary weapons simply by using the wardrobe.
Hope that cleared that question up
Submit a bug/ticket, you’ll get the best results trying that route.
I’ve reread your message a couple of times, and I guess I just don’t understand what you are asking.
For example, regarding the legendaries, if you made twilight, you will still have twilight as an equipable item, with it’s stats and ability to change stats out of combat. You will now also be able to skin another non-legendary sword so that it appears like twilight, but it will not suddenly become twilight. You still only have one twilight.
The conversion to account bound means you will be able to move your twilight to another toon as desired. But you still only have one twilight.
Actually the quote said make one and you’d have access to BOTH twilight AND dusk, which is what the question was about.
But not really. Go and transmute something. You have three things to change. The rune, the stats, and the skin/name. The skin/name come together.
If I transmute an ascended item with Twilight, opting to have different stats but at the same level, it’s still twilight. Why? Because I transmute it to be.
The name comes with the skin.
If I made an ascended greatsword with the exact same stats as Twilight, then used the wardrobe skin to make it into twilight and equipped the appropriate rune to it, would it be Twilight? Because I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between it and the original. Using this method, I could make 6 Twilights.
I believe you might be quoting when they mentioned those who have crafted Eternity. The post mentions that you’ll get any precursors/weps used to make legendaries, so for Eternity, which requires both Twilight and Dawn, you’ll have access to both of those skins PLUS the eternity skin.
Elementalists.
Glyph of storm in air attunement > Switch to frost bow > Frost bow 4 > Switch to fire and use meteor shower > Throw down FGS and FGS rush through the boss.
Throw in a couple of Mesmers for quickness, and a guard or two for might/heals, and that sounds pretty much like the perfect boss clear :P
After reveal of all changes with megaserver, i honestly thing, these changes as whole package will make game worse , no better.
cons :
- traveling will be worse and more expensive
- world bosses fights will be worse, if you can actualy play during its spawn time …
- dungeon runs will be worse, because it might be real issue to find dungeon open …pros :
+ better population in some mapsin between:
+/- guilds might be able spawn world bosses, question is, if they will be able to get all members into right overflowAs it stands, your proposed changes doesn’t make your game better, they make it worse.
“+/- guilds might be able spawn world bosses, question is, if they will be able to get all members into right overflow” – the megaservers take into account your guild and tries to place you into the same instance. If you get seperated, you have the option to join a friend in their server, so matching up with guildies shouldn’t be too difficult.
Not sure that travelling would be “worse”, but definitely there’s the possibility of it being more expensive if you need to port there just to find out something’s contested.
I was initially concerned when thinking about CoF, and how often it is contested. Now it’ll be contested when we show up, and we just spent silver to get there. On the flip side, though, with the megaserver system there will be more people in any given map, which (ideally) will encourage people to do the pre-event to unconctest CoF. As it is now, most people just Guest to find an open server, but if everyone is waiting on CoF to uncontest, there should be more people there to just get the pre-event done with so that CoF can open again.
I think the megaserver is a great concept, but has several points that need revision/clarification.
Right… where to begin?
I can’t be on twenty four hours a day and I don’t belong to, or want to be forced to join, a large guild that can invoke the world bosses. Also, smaller guilds still struggle with the insane costs for most of these unlocks – we’re already forced to join larger guilds just to play some of the game’s content and access the rewards.
So, I guess I can summarise it with two questions:
1) When will smaller guilds be able to do… anything?
2) Why do I always get the short straw with every update?I hope we get some feedback on this; there are plenty of people (like myself) who prefer smaller guilds, yet if we want to get anything unlocked (we are still awaiting enough influence to begin guild missions) it’ll be months until it’s possible to pay for.
If you are going to wait long to unlock guild missions because your guild is small, then GM are not going to be a pleasant experience for you. A few things you can do with 5-10 people; most others, no chance. As a friendly suggestion, start considering a ‘small guild’ to be something a little bit bigger than you currently do…
Fair point. Maybe my complaint should then instead be that there isn’t enough small-guild oriented missions/activities offered, which is an issue for a different thread
Hoping Anet releases some information on Map chat with this new megaserver system, because obviously there are issues with coordinating WvW raids via Map chat. They did mention that you’ll be placed into maps with Home Server being taken into consideration, but all it takes is 1 person from another server to overhear WvW plans to ruin a raid.
So, other than complaining about it, what are some solutions? Have a new chat option which is server-based?
And Anet, please bring guild capes back too. Kthx
- Eight-player parties.
- The little blue silhouette icon over people and a number next to it saying how many people are in their party. (if brought back, this could be toggled on/off)
- The old radar that revealed a lot more than our mini-map does now and had tiny green dots for NPC, purple for real people, and red for enemies.
- Alliances (some people don’t like the grind, at least give guilds the option to participate in factions if they desire)
- Auto-follow (as a support specialist, just click on your “tank” and keep hitting space. Also, if you see an enemy, hitting c-space (or in GW2’s case, c-skill 1) would automatically run your character up to it)
- Using the arrow keys to pan/tilt the camera
- Being able to zoom out farther. Much, much farther.
- “Zooming all the way in” to first person view. (Not ideal in combat situations for some, but makes traversing vast zones more scenic and taking the most desired screenshots of GW2’s gorgeous landscape)
- Being able to observe PvP from anywhere in the game (and not losing your place in the world)
I feel like every one of these should absolutely be added to the game – many of these should have been included from the start.
Eight-player parties would take the most time to incorporate, as it would mean reworking dungeons and group instanced events to adjust difficulty for the larger group size. Additionally, many skills limit their boons to 5 allies, which could get annoying in an 8-man group. But all in all, this adjustment is definitely doable.
Alliances should never have been left out, they just make sense. I would much rather the original system of being limited to one guild but have alliances than be able to join multiple guilds and have to cycle through them. Ideally there would be a combination of both concepts, as the current system is just aggravating most of the time.
Coming from my programming/game design experience, improving the map and zoom features should not be difficult for Anet to do AT ALL. Anet made gw1 and had those features, so it’s not like they don’t know how to do it. In any case, adding NPC’s/enemies to the map, showing party size (with a toggle), auto-follow (which is in pretty much any other game), and being able to spectate PvP (which is already an option when joining a PvP match) are not difficult aspects to add to the game.
Just hope Anet gets enough people asking for this that they incrorporate these things, because it would largely improve QoL. I’m very happy with many of the changes they’re making with the upcoming April 15 patch; now here are some suggestions for a May 15 patch
Maybe influence cost for unlocks could be proportional to the number of members in a guild? Not sure about all of the pros/cons of this, but this would allow smaller guilds to partake in this update, as well as with guild missions and other influence-based unlocks…
Right… where to begin?
I can’t be on twenty four hours a day and I don’t belong to, or want to be forced to join, a large guild that can invoke the world bosses. This could definitely be an issue. If someone calls in Map chat to rally at a WP in WvW, but this message is sent to an opposing server, they’ll know about it. Glad you brought this up, hope we can get some response from Anet to prevent stuff like this.
I’m a huge fan of many of the updates coming in this patch, including this cap on daily/monthly APs. While I’m nowhere near the cap yet, for people like me who are addicted to farming APs, it’ll be nice once I do hit that cap, as I’ll then not feel the stress to have to log every day and complete those tasks. Nice work Anet
Lagging so bad, myself and several others I’m playing with
Myself and two other friends are playing, and all three of us (different houses/IP adresses) are all lagging all over the place, rubber banding, etc.
Was thinking yesterday….
What if Lions Arch (and possibly the racial/major cities as well….?) spanned across all servers, and were split into districts (like in GW1)? Meaning if I enter LA district 1, it should be full of people from all servers. Districts, once they hit a cap, then create another district (i.e. districts 2, 3, 4, and so on until the last district is below the cap).
I’m currently in Sea of Sorrows; anytime I travel to LA, I’m lucky to see more than a handful of people at a time, and I’ve tried logging at different times throughout the day/week – no luck. As far as a I can tell, “major” cities are almost always nearly empty.
If the major cities were instead district-based and cross-server, then no matter which server you’re in, they would always feel full and alive (assuming you join one of the first districts). One thing I miss most from GW1 is being able to just hang out in a town and be a part of the community; when the major cities are empty (save a handful of AFK players), it really takes away from the “MMO” part of the game.
Just thought I would throw the idea out here and get some feedback…any reasons this wouldn’t be a good idea?
*Note: I just guested Blackgate, and LA is way more populated than I’ve ever seen LA in my home server. Looks like I’ll end up having to pay to switch servers so that the main towns have people in them
I would guess the reason is that if you had to spec a full traitline into one area, then it would limit the skills you could viably bring. In this example, if you spec into staff mastery/greater marks, and marks/wells (or however you would have it divided), then you could only viably bring staff and wells. Your other weapon set (scepter, dagger, war horn, focus….) would then be much less useful, as well as all other utility skills (signets, spectral, etc.).
If you spec to 2 lines, and those lines are limited to 2 aspects of your class, you’re essentially limited to only being able to run 2 categories of skills viably.
CAN you bring other skills outside of your traits? Sure. Will they be very effective? With this setup, probably not. As it is now, I can spec into one full line and have it affect a weapon set, wells, spectral, etc.
I’m not sure what you mean…
I’m always an advocate to actually trying to complete match, as opposed to giving up…
However, when you get someone who is for whatever reason is no longer a viable player (AFK, D/C, troll…), I definitely agree that a /resign would be a great option. I think the main concern with this is that it gives people a way out of not having the exact team composition that they want; resigning gives people a way to not have to try.
So the questions include – if /resign is added, do you no longer have to play the remainder of the match? How many have to resign to have a game end? Does this affect your rating? If so, does it count as severely as a loss? Should there be a point when it becomes too late in a game to /resign?
This feature was great in GW1. My only concern is this becoming a gateway for people to get out of matches simply because they don’t feel like trying, as opposed to an opportunity for a legitimate way of moving on to another match.
I agree – it has always bugged me that auto-attacking without a target always shoots projectiles into the ground unless your move your camera around :P
Your fix makes sense to me. Doesn’t require any game-breaking changes, just a simple redirect of projectile skills should do it. +1
I would love to see win streaks in game, as long as a couple of conditions are met first…
1) Kill the sync queue problem
2) Have a larger PvP population
The Random Arenas from GW1 was fun; a similar system in GW2 would be great – after 5 wins, move that group to Team Queue. It worked great in GW1 IMO, and would be awesome in GW2 (again, meeting the above two prereq’s).
I personally love Skyhammer….agree with earlier post, l2p
