I was looking forward to getting the “Masterful Achiever” title, but found that, once I’d reached 19,950 points, I no longer got 10 points a day for completing three or more dailies. I managed to get to 20,000 by doing oddments like map completion, a jumping puzzle, Agent of Entropy, etc, but I’m now stuck at 20,002… doing the dailies today didn’t add to that.
Oh, there’s a space before -StreamingClient, no wonder my computer wouldn’t accept the change before – thanks!
Still busily flickering my way through the final file – 350 MB so far? “Connection errors(s) detected. Retrying…” flickers on and off, while the kb/s veers between 150 and 0. Before I followed the advice to close the window and then restart the download, I was well into 99%, at a total of over 1000 MB; the last file but one took a minute or so, but this final one is suspiciously huge.
After following the advice to close GW2 and start it up again, I’m currently 106 MB into downloading the final file apparently, with the window flickering madly over connection problems. To think that, when I originally started the game, I thought I’d arrive in Divinity’s Reach in good time to visit the Shadow Behemoth… 90 minutes ago…
After getting in touch with support, and following various instructions, today I’ve been back in action – so big thanks to Tim, and Robert D!
I’m glad to know I’m not alone, too. I played this afternoon fine, but trying to start the game this evening just got me a plain white window and the send-a-message box.
I tried uninstalling and the lengthy reinstall/update process, and I’ve tried the “Repair” advice – but I still get the plain white window and the message to send to Anet.
My old Windows 7 computer will still play, once I updated GW2, though it always takes a while to load the game and new areas – but here on Windows 8.1, with an S.S.D., I’m lost.
Personally I’ve rather enjoyed the routine of taking a relatively new character around Queensdale looking for the necessary daily events, the gathering points, as wide a variety of monsters as possible, and enough kills, and I wouldn’t mind resurrecting hapless villagers and lionguards, killed by centaurs and wolves – the underwater kills seem a bit of a gimmick, but one could get used to them.
Crafting does seem pretty pointless; salvaging items would be a possibility, as would opening loot bags. Removing graffiti and separatist posters could be an option, and how about killing rats and other white-name beasties… could one stretch things to re-doing “heart” quests if the game mechanics made that possible? Hmm, how about talking to a certain number of NPCs that give one the Talk option… it just shows that it’s not easy to think of relevant activities, no wonder Anet have come up with some “dodgy” ones.
At the moment, the changes to our Dailies seem a major disincentive to playing regularly – apparently the idea will be to offer eventually a choice of more than five types, allowing us to choose the five-a-day we can do, but Combos and Dodging are just ridiculous, while underwater kills could lead to major overcrowding in the starter-area ponds, and crafting would just mean a lot of junk being made and discarded.
So, no laurels for me until they get their act together… I’m going to miss the daily coins, mana jugs and money…

I got the problem today – I logged out for an hour, and then I kept getting the pop-up message when I tried to start GW2 again, even with “run as administrator.” Things were slightly strange when I logged out, I’d reached a vista point but couldn’t trigger the video, so I thought rejoining the game in that spot, high on a mountain, might put that minor glitch right. Shortly after switching off the “personal cloud backup” Seagate external hard drive however, things were back to normal – and I got the Nentor Valley vista in the bag too. Fingers crossed it was a one-off problem…
