Lightrayne and Lonewolf, thank you for your helpful replies. I retested AH again in solo play and during a Teq zerg and my results were consistent with both of your observations. I was getting about 77 healing per boon and, yes, I was not noticing the little green numbers. I guess that after not having played my guardian for so long, I must have “mis-remembered” how much healing I was getting from AH. At least now, thanks to your replies, I am able to play my guardian again with the confidence that he is not “broken.”
Thanks again.
Guardian Forum Post 9/27/13
I am running an Altruistic Healing build on my Guardian and am finding that some of my utility skills do not trigger that trait. Save Yourselves, Retreat, Stand Your Ground do nothing to trigger AH, whereas Empower on the staff works as expected. These are the only skills I’ve tested. The issue is the same in groups as well as solo.
I have attached screenshots. AH1 shows my guardian at low health. AH2 shows his health bar after casting Retreat! on self. AH3 shows health bar after casting Save Yourselves! on self, and AH4 shows health after casting Empower. These shots were taken with F2 regeneration deactivated. My guardian is level 80 and his name is Vaddon. He is my only guardian. I don’t play him regularly and first noticed the issue during Clockwork Chaos events.
I submitted a support ticket on this, but was eventually told by Support to report it in-game as a bug, which I have done. I also made a similar post in the Game Bugs forum. I’m hoping that perhaps someone in the Guardian forum could shed some light on what might be going on and how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.

Adding my word of thanks here for sharing this build. I play PVE almost exclusively. I picked up this build after struggling with staff for the first 20 levels. I’m now at level 72 and have never looked back. Love the damage and the synergy of the rotation. Everything just flows very smoothly from one attunement to the next. I was not looking forward to leveling my Ele with my previous build. With this one, everything is so fast and easy. Thanks.
Bummer, since my build (such as it is at level 20) is based around staff and dagger. I guess I’ll just have to live with it until a fix arrives. Thanks for the information guys.
Well, for now I am using the Chillblains skill to target the area (not casting it but just looking at what area the larger mark will cover) before I cast any of the other marks.
Just curious, is this a recent staff bug or has this been around for a while?
I just reached level 20 with 10 points in Death Magic and was excited to try out the Greater Marks trait for staff. Unfortunately, I’m finding that only Chillblains displays the increased size and the tooltip information correctly. The other marks appear unchanged in size and the tooltip shows an unchanged radius. Although the wiki indicates this as a bug that “sometimes” happens, my experience thus far has been “always.” Am I correct in understanding that this is a long-standing bug and, if so, how do you properly place your marks to avoid aggroing unintended targets? Thanks.
@Dark Epiphany Who you calling average I’ve done everything the game has the offer almost twice over on two different characters. You shouldn’t assume things you don’t really know or even asked about. It’s part of the reason I’m sponsored on so many GW2 sites. Because I been there done that and showed the my stripes.
The only thing I haven’t done is gone as far as I can in fractals around 25 that becomes rather hard to group. And Legendary weapons even though I have them just about done on two characters. I don’t really care at the moment about it because they just don’t impress me.
Actually, I was referring to myself as the average user; though I can see how it could have been interpreted differently given my wording. No disrespect was meant. My point was that I enjoyed your video and could relate to many of the points you made.
Original Post:
Thanks for sharing the video, Silentstorm. I enjoyed it and found it to be a reasonable take on the game from the perspective of the average player who’s just in it for the fun.
Post Edited For Clarity:
Thanks for sharing the video, Silentstorm. I consider myself to be an “average” player, skill-and-gear-wise, who plays the game for casual fun. I enjoyed the video and found that many of the opinions in it resonated with me. Well done.

Thank you CCEva for passing this along. The main page now displays normally for me in Firefox, IE, and Safari.
Ecco, I have the same problem applying Sky to t1 Arborist armor transmuted onto exotic Knight’s armor.
I’m having a similar problem applying Sky dye to my transmuted t1 Sylvari armor – originally exotic Knight’s armor to which I applied the t1 Arborist appearance. Interestingly, my Arborist armor came with Sky as one of the default colors, but the color disappeared once I transmuted the piece. I then bought a Sky dye on the trading post, but Sky only shows correctly in the dye mode pane and is removed once I close the pane.
I’ve had a similar problem specifically with Sky dye applied to heavy t1 Sylvari cultural armor. Firstly, the dye shows fine in the character pane, but is not applied once closing the pane. Secondly, there is a repeatable sequence of events – ending with equiping another type of armor after Sky dye is applied – that leads to the game crashing.
I’m having the same problem. The main page just shows a list of links, with a couple of graphics on the right. This happens in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari on my Windows 7 64bit desktop and on my iPad as well. Clearing the cache and refreshing the page did not resolve the issue in Firefox and IE. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Can’t recall the name of the mission atm, but it’s one of the first orders quests where you launch a mini-golem and remote control it to lay out mines and then taunt the enemy into them. First of all, the whole description of the mission that the npc gives is hilarious. Then, that part when the mini-golem waves his arms and makes his taunting sound cracks me up.
Roflmao. Great writing, Focksbot! When Trahearne enters “the real world” things become rather hilarious.
As others have suggested, I too would recommend you try Guardian. They have high survivability and are extremely versatile in solo and group play. Their flashy skill animations, boons, burning, damage, and defensive gear make them a fun class to play. You can just jump in to most battles and really have that sense of heroism that you mentioned. Speed wise, they have Retreat! which is a 20 second speed buff. Paired with the #3 staff skill , Symbol of Swiftness, which also grants swiftness and has a short cooldown, getting from place to place is a breeze.
Thank you, Eveningstar, for posting this. I have been searching for a build that provides the versatility that yours offers. I chose the Guardian because it has the potential for great versatility. However, until now, I’ve only found builds that emphasize only one or two aspects of a Guardian’s capabilities. Your build seems to be just what I’ve been looking for. And it was presented in a thoroughly explained, easy to understand manner.
