Good stuff. May be worth copying to: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Enhanced-Squad-UI-Feedback
As a dev said they’d be watching that thread specifically.
Lots of people are suggesting boons/conditions need to be shown, but nobody has yet described how it’d be possible. I can’t really imagine a way to display that many icons for that many players, so it’d need to be simplified quite a bit – maybe just even a single icon or border colour for “this player has a condition” for example.
While it’d be useful information, how could you possibly fit that many icons in for so many (50) players?
You could maybe just have red and gold pips, but I don’t see how you’d be able to display the actual icons without taking up far too much screen space. Unless only a small subset are displayed, or they’re only displayed for groups of 10 or fewer.
Hiya, check out our guild at http://www.darkreavers.co.uk – we’re on Desolation and welcome casual players.
Commander-less squads are for raiding only and raids are 10 man content.
I understand that, I just don’t see why they have to be for raiding only. 50-man commander-less squads could be useful for open world / wvw content.
Being able to set icon visibility as mentioned would be enough though – if they want to keep the 50-man allowance a perk of having the commander icon.

We’re making a return to the game after a 2+ year absence – sounds like we’d fit with what you’re looking for. [DkR] has been going for 16 years now, so if you’re looking for a gaming community for the longer term, that goes beyond GW2, you can’t go wrong.
[DkR] Dark Reavers are now recruiting for a HoT comeback. Don’t really want to duplicate what I’ve already posted so here’s a link to our recruitment thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/DkR-Dark-Reavers-EU-Deso-Recruiting-f-HoT/first#post5545691

We’re not fully active in the game yet as we’re coming back to GW2 after a 2 year break, but still want to give you this 100% unbiased recommendation.

[DkR] is now recruiting after a long (~2 year) break from the game. Back in 2012-13 we had over 500 active members in GW2. We were one of the founding guilds of the largest pre-launch alliance “The Initiative”, and also the first UK guild to roll on Desolation and claim it as the unofficial UK server – via the Guildex website (which was built by me originally as gw2guilds.org).
We’ve since tried out a couple of other MMOs, but personally I’ve always wanted to give GW2 another shot – and this feels like the right time with the numerous guild-centric features and raids being added.
Founded in 1999, we are a long established UK & Ireland based gaming clan with an abundance of experience drawn from numerous games spanning multiple genres.
Although we aim to be highly skilled and thrive on competition, our priorities are enjoyment and a strong sense of community and friendship, and this will not change. Ensuring that all members feel welcome and valued is hugely important – we never want anyone to feel like they are just a name on a list or an anonymous follower.
Many of those who join [DkR] are considered members for life, and will always be welcome to participate in the clan even if they play in other clans at the same time, or if they decide to return after a long absence.
We normally only accept applicants aged 18 and older (average age of the guild is 28), and want members who take gaming seriously enough to play competitively, but not seriously enough to rage or get upset about it.
Our rules are mostly common sense and we ask for a reasonable level of activity from all of our members.
More info can be found on our website, feel free to drop me a PM or message through our site if you want to know anything specific.
Cheers!

The new squad UI looks great, and includes features that I’ve wanted since the 2012 beta weekends.
There are a couple of things that I think would improve it though:
1.) An “Icon Visibility” option that can be set to Public, Guild or Squad.
2.) A “guild only” mode, which works like the open mode, but only guild members can join. I think this would compliment all the new guild-focused stuff being added.
I’m also not sure why commander-less squads need a 10 player restriction.
These suggestions come from being a guild leader, as I’ve always wanted to be able to run large guild groups easily, without bothering the rest a map with a commander icon, and the guild only mode would make it easier to form a guild only squad.
Cheers!

how u identify active guild?
Yea you can sort by when they were last updated, but any of the guilds that are listed are considered active.
If you mean how I actually ensure the guilds are active – if an entry hasn’t been updated in a couple of months, they get an email asking them to confirm they’re still active in the game. If they don’t confirm, they get flagged as inactive and removed from the listings.
Hi there,
With HoT rapidly approaching, I just want to inform/remind people about Guildex.
A bit of background first. A couple of months before GW2 was released I launched GW2Guilds.org; its main purpose being to give guilds an indication of which servers would be the best place to roll come launch. It was great to see all the big alliances declaring where they were going to call home, with thousands of guilds registering themselves over a few short weeks.
I later decided to support other MMOs, and renamed the site Guildex. The site hasn’t changed drastically since it went live, mainly because it’s always been my goal to keep it as simple as possible. Guild websites and forums already cover the contact/communication side of things, so I really just want to provide an easy way to find guilds, and also to see what other guilds you’re playing with or against.
You can search guilds by region, server, style, size, language, timezone, gameplay focus, and various other filters. You can also see an overview that lists all the guilds on a particular server.
Now the site has over 15,000 guilds registered, and I’ve recently added some auto-pruning functionality which should keep the listings accurate. Currently 1,123 GW2 guilds are registered that have been confirmed as active within the past couple of months.
As always I’m very open to suggestions for improvements, lots of things have been added in the past based on people’s feedback.
Thanks!
Dark
First of all for anyone who hasn’t heard of it, http://gw2.guildex.org has been around since the betas of 2012 with nearly 10,000 guilds registered on it (~1k confirmed active recently).
Onto my guild…

My wife had this today too. Didn’t notice when it bugged, we just did the Cathedral of Silence and Source of Orr episodes, with just the final one left, but it’s only showing up to the first episode of Forming the Pact (Forging the Pact).
Also, have they changed the order of the episodes or something? She thinks she already did the Source of Orr.
Hia,
Just wanted to inform people of some updates I’ve made to the GW2 guilds index over the last couple of days, mainly in preparation for Heart of Thorns.
A bit of background first. I launched GW2guilds.org a couple of months before GW2 was to be released; its main purpose being to give guilds an indication of which servers would be the best place to roll come launch. It was great to see all the big alliances declaring where they were going to call home, with thousands of guilds registering themselves over a few short weeks. In part this was thanks to ArenaNet who mentioned the site on their Twitter and Facebook – which actually crashed the site both times..
I later decided to support other MMOs, but the GW2 section has remained by far the most used, with over 9000 guilds currently listed.
As the years have passed, the main downfall of the site has been that many of the guilds listed no longer exist, have moved to other games, or their information is no longer up to date.
In an attempt to fix this problem, the site now sends automatic email reminders to guilds who’ve not updated their profile in a while. If they fail to respond and confirm their information is up to date, they’ll be removed from the listings. After another set amount of time, the removed guilds will become claimable by any other registered member. This will hopefully prevent situations where guilds can’t edit their own profile because the person who originally posted the entry is no longer reachable.
Another feature I’ve added is the ability to transfer ownership of entries to other registered users. This will allow people to hand over rights to others if they no longer want to maintain the entry.
As always I’m very open to suggestions for improvements, lots of things have been added in the past based on people’s feedback.
TL;DR
The guilds index has new features to ensure the listings are kept up to date, and should’ve been fully pruned by the time Heart of Thorns is released. There are also now facilities to allow old listings to be re-claimed or transferred.
Thanks!

I would therefore say that I am unhappy with his initial dishonesty then. I was on EB from approx 9am yesterday until 2am today. When somone made a remark about fighting French & Germans most people pointed out that BT were not German, however “Officer Togloss” went on to say that he was from BT and that BT was mostly Russian and Polish. Now fine so far – but when someone asked him why he was on Deso as a commander he at this point claimed that his guild were intending to move from BT to Deso. This claim was made again later as well. Now it appears that this story has changed. Up until this point I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and before he, or yourself say anything I have read to the end of this thread, this just seemed the most appropiate post to reply to.
Now if he is on Deso to recruit and he is a commander for a BT guild that intends to stay on BT then as a matter of “fair play” he should turn off his commander tag until he returns to you. Also, are you truly unaware of http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#EU ?
And that it was predicting this matchup as far back as Saturday last week?
We used to check the rankings all the time, but I haven’t checked them for nearly a month now, it honestly didn’t factor into the decision. We were on Desolation for the entirety of the beta (we actually declared it as the unofficial UK server prior to BWE#1 when all the country-specific communities were scrambling to claim servers). It was simply due to our history with the server, and the fact that we’re a UK guild, that led us to think it was a good place to look for new members.
In short, we’re having a hard time recruiting on Blacktide, largely due to language differences, and are having to look elsewhere. Moving to another server (possibly Desolation) is being discussed as well, and that may unfortunately end up being our only option – we shall see.
It’s funny how easily people get caught up in the “us vs them” mentality, even in something as trivial as a computer game.
Just as trivial as posting on a computer game forums being judgemental towards others in a video game? Logic?
Can’t.. follow.. what you just wrote.
I think the hostile “us vs them” attitude, in the context of computer games, is silly. Posting that I think it’s silly… isn’t particularly silly…
Fair enough you helped get SM but I still can’t make sense out of going against your own server, I dont know how many you brought along but it looks like they could do without one of them on a opposing server leading against them.
Such is the issue with free server transfers.
This might make sense if we were fighting a real war. It’s just a game though, and it can be a lot of fun to fight against people who are normally your teammates.
It’s funny how easily people get caught up in the “us vs them” mentality, even in something as trivial as a computer game.
Pretty funny that Blacktide are trying to recruit from Deso, you guys keep us laughing!
To be honest guys, if someone wants to go from Deso – stable server with a great community and fun times in WvW, to Blacktide – falling/failing fast while using underhanded tactics to try to destabilse our great server, then they deserve to be recurited by this random Blacktide commander who’s trying to sabotage WvW.
Thumbs up Deso we’re doing great, lets keep it up during the week
Fun matchup so far shame that a few bad apples have to lower T2’s run like this.
//Wrex
Blacktide are doing no such thing. My guild is trying to recruit from other servers because we’re low on active members. Desolation being one of those servers is pure coincidence and has nothing to do with “sabotage” or “underhanded tactics”. I mean seriously, grow up and stop treating WvW like it’s some kind of serious thing where any of this even matters.
I don’t think you should go on the server you are facing at that moment to “steal” their members. To me it’s kind of low and gives a bad impression about all of the Blacktide players. As if we are trying to convert the enemy to join us…
If you want to do this, do it on servers we are not facing at the moment, there are enough servers out there. Maybe try it in lower tiers if you really want to recruit players?
If it’s going to annoy people then we’ll try to recruit elsewhere, but players and guilds moving around and being recruited to different servers has been rule since launch, not the exception, simply because of how the whole system is designed. I mean, that’s why I added the “Movers” page on GW2Guilds.org.
I don’t think it’s fair to call it “low”, especially considering the whole of [Nug] moved from Far Shiverpeaks to Blacktide when they were in the same matchup. What has more of an effect, losing a few individual players or losing a large and active WvW guild?
People should just go wherever they get the most out of the game, there’s nothing unethical about moving servers in order to do that.
(edited by Darkademic.2603)
This is exactly was star was saying, we are not worried bout u cheating, more about trying to snipe our people
Losing (at most) a handful of guildless people probably isn’t going to have much of an impact. I can agree it would have been better to wait until Deso was in a different tier, but it isn’t a deliberate attempt to weaken anyone, we just need members and Deso is the logical first place to look for a UK based guild such as ours.
I’m actually surprised people still take WvW seriously enough to be concerned about this kind of thing. I was under the impression that the intense competition of the initial few months was over with (I haven’t played myself for several weeks so I don’t really know what the situation is).
I think I recognize the name Toglos from the forums, but don’t really know who he is.
Doesn’t really concern me anyways
He’s DkR’s commander, and I’m DkR’s leader. We moved to Blacktide in October along with our allies CIR, ThUn, INT and HRSY and helped the server get from tier 4 to tier 1. After winning tier 1, many of our members (and apparently much of the server and/or game) started to lose interest. Tog is just shopping for recruits at the moment.
Toglost is actually a surprisingly fitting nickname for him. He’s always been a bit of a local joke on Blacktide – I hope he will give you great laughs too.
Er..? Are you this nice in real life?
As someone who also followed Guild Wars 2 for years and was extremely excited for it (I also wrote a fairly widely read article about the endgame), I agree with you on some points.
Don’t get me wrong, Guild Wars 2 is a great game and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing it, and I’ll continue to play it for the forseeable future, though not quite as much as I have been.
I agree that having levels was probably a mistake. Not a fatal one, but a mistake nonetheless. In terms of stats/power (including on gear) I think it would’ve been better to stick with purely horizontal progression. Retaining the levelling system but then scaling everything down is a redundancy. It’s still better than a levelling system with no scaling (as in most other MMOs) since you can go back and play with lower level friends without making a new character, but it doesn’t solve the problem of content becoming obsolete due to the inferiority of the rewards in lower level areas. Scrapping the levelling system, and making all zones/instances equally rewarding would ensure that the entire game world is always worth visiting. It would also help if monthly/daily achievements required players to visit a wider range of zones to complete them.
Removing levels entirely would require a colossal amount of work, so even if ArenaNet decided it’d be a good idea it’d likely take a very long time implement. It’s a shame that they didn’t go with the idea to begin with as we know it was at least on the table at some point back when we were getting the first bits of info about GW2, but I understand their reasoning; it would’ve been a huge risk to do away with such a staple feature of the MMO genre.
In terms of the combat, I disagree that it is critically flawed. The jack of all trades issue isn’t a flaw, it’s just part of the trade-off of removing the holy trinity. Either you have hard dependencies or you don’t. If you don’t (as in GW2), then everyone needs to be able to do a bit of everything. Teamwork based mechanics could be fleshed out and expanded upon, but this can be done in ways other than requiring people to specialise purely in healing/damage/defence.
Your point about monster abilities is true though, and boss mechanics in particular could be much better. Bosses should be much more than larger versions of normal enemies with much more damage output and health – they need to have interesting mechanics which require skill, logic, concentration, quick-reactions, trial-and-error/learning, and/or keen observation. Unlike the levelling system this is something that can (and probably will) be improved over time.
As for gear progression/itemisation, I think it is just part of the larger issue that includes the inclusion of a levelling system; the mixture of horizontal and vertical progression. In my opinion gear should all be purely cosmetic and stats should be applied to gear through upgrade components (like insignias in GW1). I don’t agree that gear rarity has no purpose, but it should be like it sounds with the rarity reflecting how difficult something is to obtain. Rarer gear should look more interesting/unusual, and rarer upgrade components should offer more specialised stat distributions or niche set bonuses, but not better stats overall.
The OP also mentions the idea of weapon skill customisation, which I think would be a welcome addition. Maybe there could be a weapon-trait system which allows players to alter specific skills – for example sacrificing some range for extra damage, or adding conditions at the expense of additional recharge time. This kind of horizontal progression would nicely make up for an absence of vertical progression. There could also be additional cosmetic upgrades for armour/weapons, such as particle effects, spikes, chains, jewels etc.
Of the other points listed, I think the only major one (that hasn’t already been mentioned above) is the one about WvW. Culling issues and server imbalances are both big problems, but I’d argue that ArenaNet can only do so much to balance servers – players are largely to blame for not distributing themselves in a way which provides the best experience (i.e. transferring to winning servers leading to a snowball effect and ultimately to a server collapsing due to boredom).
TL;DR
Mixing horizontal progression with vertical progression doesn’t work very well.
The more vertical progression you have, the more content is necessarily made obsolete, and the more fragmented the player-base becomes.
I had no idea my site was posted on here. Thanks!
Apologies if it takes a while for guilds to be approved, several hundred are submitted every week and it’s hard for me to find time to get through them all.
In my opinion this is still jumping ship. You won’t make a server more populated by leaving it with hundreds of members. Just my 2cents, and I’m not even on GH…
Guilds should do whatever they can to ensure their members get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of the game. Unfortunately that can mean having to move servers. Loyalty isn’t given to hardware, it’s given to people, and surely those most deserving of loyalty are the members of one’s own guild.
Anyway I hope you understand. was lots of fun, but way to many guilds moved to winning EU server, KISS fought hard for gunnars for 2 months + since CIR, ThUN & DKR bailed to a high ranked server.
Just need to point out we moved for the same reason as you. Blacktide was in tier 3 when we moved, and Gunnar’s Hold was in tier 4. It wasn’t for the ranking, it was for the activity (and because we were invited).
The way to reduce zerging is to organize. Zergs are moving loot bag trains for organized attackers, doubly so with portal bombing at present rendering issues.
Zergs can be organised. A zerg is just a large number of players moving as a group. There is no counter to an organised zerg, other than another organised zerg.
About the only way to reduce zerging is to dramatacaly increase the size of the maps. At the moment the maps basically only allow for zergs and small groups are extreamly limited in what the can do or where they can go
This could also work, but it’d take much more time and effort for ArenaNet to implement.
Soooo basically disable the concept of large scale wvwvw pvp…..
Ever grasp the idea that large scale pvp was kind of the point?
“Large scale” does not mean having the majority of players concentrated in a single location. In that sense, zerging actually results in WvW having a smaller scale. Groups of 10-20 people spread across an entire map fighting prolonged battles on multiple fronts would be a hell of a lot more fun than zergs steamrolling one target at a time in fights that rarely last more than a couple of minutes.
Sorry op but those are not fixes that will prevent zerging. To prevent zerging you have to stop the formation of large groups or the desire to join a moving mob with solid game mechanics, not bandaids.
Can you define “solid game mechanics” and explain how they differ from the suggestions in the OP?
2. no, too powerful
3. they will not do it, it takes revenue away from them
If #2 is too powerful then they could adjust the caps until it’s balanced. Not sure how #3 will take revenue away from them.
The price of this is that you need alot of players in the Zerg to make it effective, which means less players spread out across the map. Your information gathering suffers. Your ability to react to simultaneous assaults on multiple objectives becomes limited (you have to choose one or the other or split up).
I’d argue that the benefits of zerging far outweigh the disadvantages, primarily due to the size of the maps. Say two forces of 25 are simultaneously attacking a keep and a tower. A force of 50 will be able to wipe the 25 attacking the tower within a minute or two, and will likely be able to reach the keep in time to wipe the other 25. The distances are simply too short to make attacking multiple objectives a true counter or alternative to zerging.
In my opinion nothing suggested in this thread would stop zerging. I did see one thing I agree with and that is downed state should be removed from WvW. They could even give everyone a small HP bump to make up for the fact of removing downed state.
I wouldn’t necessarily want to stop zerging, I’d want to reduce its effectiveness and ensure there are reliable counters to it.
in my opinion we should still have the downed state but when people are dead they have to respawn without possibility to be rezzed
This is a good idea.
Interesting discussion, especialy due to the fact its several qq threads about how smal guilds portal stomp unorganiced zergs. One threa about zergs be a bad thing and need to be weaker and other threads about how smal organiced portal groups are a bad thing
Organised groups of any size will be able to defeat larger unorganised groups. The problem is that zerging is by far the most effective tactic when organisation/skill/communication is equalised.
Zerging is not a problem unless your zerg is smaller.
That’s kind of the point.
You know what a good counter to zerging is? About 4 ballistas and 1/4th of the size of their force. Oh and this tactic pays for itself.
Zerging is fine, it’s a very important part of WvW.
An organised zerg will be able to put up 8 or more ballistas to match your 4. People assume that a zerg is necessarily just a rabble of random players. I’m talking about when everything else is equal, zergs are currently the tactic to use.
I don’t think the OP is proposing to remove zerging per se, only to remove or mitigate factors like AOE cap and downed state that promote zerging.
Exactly. Ultimately because I think battles with 15-20 on each side are a lot more entertaining than ones with 50-100 on each side, especially given the culling issues.
(edited by Darkademic.2603)
Just some ideas. Comments/criticisms encouraged.
1.) Remove crossed swords from the map. They’re essentially zerg magnets which makes scouting much less important than it should be, and make it easy for zergs to quickly rush back and defend when required. Removing them would make attacking multiple objectives simultaneously more viable. Perhaps allow players to activate an alarm at objectives which will place swords over them or broadcast a message in chat (only if it is actually being attacked, and subject to a cooldown).
2.) Remove or increase the cap on the number of players that can be hit by siege AoE. This would make large bunched up groups much less effective. I’d probably remove the cap for catapult and trebuchet AoE since they are harder to aim at a group of players, and just increase the cap for arrow carts slightly since they’re so spammable (or remove the cap, but make it so players can only be hit by one arrow cart at a time). Being hit by a catapult or trebuchet shot should be something pretty devastating to a group of players.
3.) Make players do much less damage to doors (or possibly zero damage). This would mean a huge blob of players can’t just melee the door down as they can now, and would mean smaller groups can potentially break through as fast as large ones if they have the siege and the supply. Basically make siege weapons much more effective relative to players compared to now.
4.) Maybe add some sort of points bonus for taking multiple objectives within a short amount of time.
So that’s where you were Syndic. We had good fun on Elona Borderlands with [Nug] and [Xaoc]. Bay walls were down for a good hour thanks to trebs from the garrison, but we managed to hold the inner gate until finally taking garrison later on with some stealthy catapults. Held the keeps on both sides for pretty much the entire night. Looking forward to the rest of the week.
We’re currently recruiting on Blacktide:

Voice Comms: Mumble
Information:
Established in 1999, we are UK based guild playing on the EU server Blacktide. We focus on PvP (both WvW and SPvP) without neglecting PvE, and strive to maintain a tightly-knit community atmosphere.
We are part of an alliance of guilds on Blacktide which we work closely with, and usually put out raid groups of between 15 and 50 depending on the day of the week. We’ve been active in WvW since the first beta weekend and have built a strong core membership of experienced PvPers.
We’re also in the process of strengthening out SPvP-focused membership and so we are looking for players who seek to regularly compete in paid tournaments with a view toward reaching the monthly ones. Ideally new recruits will have good knowledge of every aspect of SPvP and will be available to practice with their teams for at least seven hours a week if not more.
Although we aim to be highly skilled and thrive on competition, our priorities are enjoyment and a strong sense of community and friendship, and this will not change.
We preferably want members aged 18 and older (the average age of the current membership is 26), and want members who can play competitively without taking the game deadly seriously, as we don’t think you have to do so to be successful.
Many of those who join [DkR] are considered members for life, and will always be welcome to participate in the clan even after a long absence.
Places are limited, and we are selective about who we allow to join as we absolutely do not want a zerg guild full of anonymous randoms.
Head over to our website for more information or to apply.
Cheers!

We had 10 guys running around the garrison and we did not see any golems. The group that made it in to the garrison just ‘appeared’. When we wiped them we ran all over the garrison looking for a Mesmer and checking all the gates and walls and yet they got back in. It seemed fishy to us.
Assuming we’re talking about the same attack, you can’t have been looking very hard. We ported an Omega golem and three Alpha golems to the southwest gate, and then ported them to the inner gate when the outer gate went down. We also never actually got wiped. After the golems went down we ran around the walls destroying all the siege and then after waiting several minutes we ran back around and continued taking down the inner gate. We had plenty of mesmers (including myself) to portal people back in when the outer gate was repaired.
Golems seem to be affected by culling by the way. We had a lot of players in that attack (combined forces of DkR, CIR, ThUn and HRSY), so it’s possible you couldn’t see the golems due to that. You still should’ve seen the outer gate go down (twice) though.
T’was one of the best attacks I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of.
This is result of late night fights, not nightcapping by any means. However we face morningcapping by Blacktide. That lead in the link will dissepear in no time.
Morning: Blactide vs Doors
Noon: Blactide vs some GH
early evening: Blactide vs GH vs Aurora Glade
late evening: GH vs Aurora Glade vs some Blacktide
night: GH vs Aurora Glade
late night : GH vs some Aurora Glade
nightcap: no one
Yeah exactly, I was replying to the screenshot of Blacktide owning everything to show that it swings both ways.
U shoud come in Gunar’s Hold server, in one map 3 ppl (including me) and in rest of the maps no one. You can scream and insult there all you like, is no one to hear. I understant all europe is sleeping but its weekend. I’m surprised this crap server is still in the middle of server ranks
Complete misrepresenation ftw!

Strategy is fine, so is ganging up on one server, but going onto the forums and begging for help is the funniest thing i’ve ever seen.
So ganging up is fine as long as you don’t use words to make it happen? Kindly backing away from the fighting and effectively giving your enemies the nod, which is exactly what Desolation have been doing, is somehow more worthy of respect than openly requesting assistance? In fact, Desolation did exactly the same thing – asking Far Shiverpeaks to team up against Vizunah Square.
So far deso has had to deal with treb exploits, wasting supply exploits, keep lord exploits, orb exploits….friendly npc’s attacking our siege bugs, and the list goes on…
None of these are exploits. Every server has no doubt experienced the keep lord bug by now – and it’s just that, a bug. Wasting supply exploits? What? Treb exploits? What are you talking about? I hope you don’t just mean placing trebs inside keeps where they can reach surrounding towers or other keeps.
Allying in a game that doesn’t balance out if you come with double the numbers. What can I say. Cowards and weaklings should do what they have to, you have no chance playing fair. Now GH is even nightcapping to appear to be pros. Must feel good to hit empty keeps and forts, such a huuuuge challenge. You guys are a disgrace.
Gray – Desolation
Hypocritical much? Allying and night-capping are things Desolation have been doing since Saturday. Moreover, the ability for servers to team up is the whole reason for having three servers fighting instead of two.
This thread is gold. Servers wanting to team up to fight us when the reality is we have the same amount of night players. Every night, each borderland is for the most part controlled by the defending server, and EB is usually the place where one server has an advantage.
But looking at the score gains (potential points per 15 minutes), it’s usually about even.
I have little good words for neither GN or AR however, you both exploit bugs and play dirty, as a previous poster in this thread already pointed out. And now you want to try and team up aswell? You’re pathetic! Man up and fight beter, Desolation is hardly the most organised server, so stop crying.
Nonsense. Since Saturday Desolation have had far more overnight players and have been able take almost the whole map.
It’s fine as it is now when populations are balanced, however I’m sure ArenaNet said at some point that NPCs would scale in some way.
Buff lords and guards when populations are imbalanced, to the extent that they are, and make upgrading them have much more of an impact. Maybe even make a “night-watch” upgrade, which gives keeps/towers extra guards relative to how outnumbered a server is. If a server fights hard enough throughout the day to acquire such an upgrade, but happens to lack night-time players, then the night-watch guards should do a decent job of defending for them, but then de-spawn as soon as populations normalise.
Night-capping has obviously been the reason for a lot of complaints, so maybe this would be a step towards solving it.
The people claiming that DAoC had no issues with large fights are simply wrong, but even if it was true, they are failing to take into account that GW2 requires a far higher number of calculations per character, and that the calculations involved are far more complicated. Cross-profession combos for example mean that every combo field must interact with the potentially hundreds of finishers being executed every few seconds in a large fight. Then you’ve got walls that reflect projectiles back to their source, dodging, active blocking, projectile obstruction etc.
Actually, we had five
Haha, I had no idea [ThUn] did one too, [DkR] organised a 5 golem assault on Shadaran Hills I think it was.
Thanks from [DkR] to everyone for the great PvP.
Here are some highlights I managed to screenshot:

Yep I’ve been getting this also, and with 350+ people on my contact list it’s incredibly time consuming having to go through them all and re-enter their nicknames.
