I was given a free weekend to play by my friend and I liked the look and feel of the Necromancer so I started playing it. Once I reached 80 and have decided on a final fully exotic gear. I decided to make alts. Guardian for me was my second choice but as soon as I reached level 60, I found it being too easy for me. Which is good when I want to relax and face roll. I also made an Engi but had to delete it twice it’s just not for me. Some of the better damaging ones like warrior bores me. Ele is good, and I agree mesmer takes ages to finish and solo events and is good in PVP, but it doesn’t give me the satisfaction in winning compared to my necro.
So in the end. I’m sticking to Necromancers. I don’t have the mindset of long time MMO players because this is my first MMO. I usually play single player games where the hardest classes would make you more BA if you conquer it.

So I’ve been leveling my Ele after playing a Necromancer for 400 hours on the game. And I found that binding F1 to the middle mouse button is usually enough. Now that I am playing my Ele, I’m finding I need to easily access the F1-F4 buttons to play better. I’m also looking for a mouse to buy to play this game better.
So the questions is, what gaming mouse are you using (should I buy) and what are your keybinds?
It also works when trying to escape a zerg. Fall of a cliff pop DS and you survive. If they decide to follow you, the fall damage just made them easy kill for you.

I’ve been tryin to catch you online. Been wanting to run an all necro fractal run. I’m on level 6 currently because fractals aren’t really my thing until recently where I decided to give it a try. I also want to give minions a try and want to see them in-game.
What is easier, bringing everyone down to Necro level, or bringing up Necro to everyone else’s level. Which will be more well received by the community?
I think this is happening right now. (On people’s perception on the forums at least) Mesmer wants to be Warriors, Warriors want to roll another class because they can’t do 47k damage anymore and they suck on PVP. Thieves want to shelf their toons because it is now broken. So I think Necromancers are actually getting an invisible buff.
I played Wvw yesterday on my abomination build by Nemesis. And I was attacked by a 7 man team. I managed to kill the 2 thieves and the warrior (they were bads I guess, all of them stood on my wells. ) The only thing that killed me was the ranger faraway. So 7 people pounding on me, I consider that not bad.

I will never give up on the necro class, no matter how bad it gets. I may throw my fits about it, maybe occasionally offer helpful comments, but I won’t give up no it. I honestly don’t think we’re in the horrible place so many people say we are. Yes we have problems that need fixing. No we are not a totally broken class. Boycotting necros will accomplish absolutely nothing.
+1 No matter what I do, I have no desire to play other classes even if they can do things a thousand times better. Other classes bore me to death because they are too easy for me. Guardian – 1,2 repeat.
While running around, I decided to take on a Champion Risen Giant, which I knew would end badly. But soon after I engaged it, another MM came along and between the two of us and our minions we took it down. Felt pretty good.

I saw nowhere in his post where he said a single word about pvp play, stop trolling.
It’s also funny in SOTG where the developers (forgot his name) said that they were improving the Mesmer’s Greatsword because it is very hard for them to hit a Necromancer with minions all around. Hmmm… I wonder which is true coz I haven’t made an MM build.
Also I don’t get it when people say that between this class and this class, the “superior” class will ALWAYS win. Like there’s no other factor to consider. It’s like kids comparing which pokemon is better. lol
So what IS the role of a Necro endgame then? If it’s sort of in the middle, is there one that I should lean towards?
Well, one thing I can say is that Necromancer is not a one trick pony. Necromancers have flexible builds that you can experiment in and enjoy.
Most people would treat WvW as an endgame and there we shine in Group play. We can also do great damage while still having a bit more survivability than the average berserker warrior.
As for endgame here’s my opinion.
Warriors shine in Cof, which is only one out of many dungeons.
Thief, while doing great in WvW (can do very well in 1v1) is not that good in dungeons.
Necromancer is actually viable in Fractals. And I play with guildies mostly so I never have problems with pugs and grouping.
If you like flexibility and tons of AOE then Necromancer is for you. But if you want to be really good at one thing. (Damage, Tanking, Utility) then there are other class who can do it better.

I’m wondering how your Staff 1 skill can hit for 1k-2K damage. On full cond. Mine hits on 200+
Also, the jumping on cliffs and using DS to not take damage is something I do a lot. I love it when people follow and die as they fall. Sometimes they survive which is a free kill for me.

On Stomping— I agree that Necromancers (on wvw) should not be stomping. On condition build place a few conditions and let others stomp them. Focus on another target.
Stability, I want at least a one quick one for emergencies, maybe put it on one of our signets?

I wouldn’t give Empiren the time of day if I were you. he’s crazily into Rangers and Warriors as all of his post history lauds Rangers and Warriors as the absolute of this game. (He’s never been in the ranger forums I gather.)

A few things:
This sounds like the guys who came just from wow and are used to the button mashing style. Don’t get me wrong I had it too and a lot of other people I know in game: It feels strange and wrong in the beginning to not hammer your skills or just autoattacking. But wait until you see ALL of the class. Go to the mist and fight a little with the pvp guys like swanir etc and you find out more necessary tricks.Also the classes play very different. I startet with the necro (80), then leveled an engineer(80 and by far the most fun class I have ever played!) and am now leveling a ranger (50 something). And the ranger is soooo easy and powerfull while doing that (just for nethykins). And if you’re afraid that there is no skill necessary try to play an ele to it’s full potential Perhaps get some ideas from streams of good players.
TL;DR;
Quit and try a game you enjoy more or relax and try more classes (and their whole specs in the mist, all gear and skills from lvl2 on free) and play it as it is designed without big expectations. Perhaps you just need to warm up.So long and have fun:)
He seems like that kind of guy. Anyway, Guild Wars 2 is a different beast altogether. You are playing it from a different perspective. Try and level your Necro up to 40. Also,
Necros are not meant to be played by depending on your autoattack. Read the builds here on the forums. All of your gripes have been cited again and again and frankly it has been resolved a lot of times. A lot of players have gotten around it and are quite enjoying the class.
The forum topics are getting filled by more positive topics everyday for weeks now. and it will get better.
And try not to mention that you’ve played this MMO for x years. Most things you learned there is not going to apply to GW2. It is meant to be played differently that’s where most “MMO veterans” fall.
Another awesome episode. That bit about the Flesh Wurm in Cof path 1 is really useful and made me “wow, you can do that?!”
Uh…..minion build are awful for pvp and spvp.
Why? the Ai is bad and they require so much traiting that you pretty much have to go FULL minion to do anything.
Its a good idea, but implemented poorly.
It sounds like you’re just repeating what you’ve heard and have never really tried it. More testing less talk.
I’ve tested this, the number of times they DON’T attack is barely noticeable. In my experience Flesh Golem wouldn’t attack in 1 out of 15 times average. The same with other minions. So even if you have ONE minion that stops attacking you still have 4 who are doing their jobs.
I went out to WvW this afternoon to record how a necro playstyle should be with my build. Not an kitten contest, and the fights/video aren’t special or “l33t”…. purpose is to emphasis how one should play this class to kill and escape.
Lol at the music choice. But it’s a really good Necro WvW video. You really have to be aware of your positioning and knowing when to run.
And I just got to 53-ish minute on the podcast while farming Orr. And my topic was there lol.

Thank you for your input. Sadly I cannot reply to all of them as my workload’s back. Well, the gist of it is most of you have mentioned that we must be good at Attrition (which Chips has mentioned that we need about 50% more improvement to go to just be there.) , Life Steal, Minions and Conditions.
Jackums has also mentioned that yeah, some classes has multiple builds that they excel at.
I’m also surprised that no one has mentioned our Hybrid and Power builds that we currently have. What is our state currently in the game? Do you think we need more improvement on this aspect of the Necro?
The best boon we could use really is more might. Since it ups our conditions and normal damage both. Splitting between power and condition damage, which is like 60/40 inherent in a lot of our abilities, is really what hurts the Necros vs other more specializing clasess, that can just go all power or all crit and own.
And I think they did a good thing with Blood is Power, and I’ve seen a lot of people try to make might builds around that, and with runes and sigils and such, but it takes a lot of work and sacrificing other things. The main problem with a Might build right now is that it requires very specific rotations that are not fight reactive, so that if you get in a situation where you can’t say go into DS to load up on Might via Life Blast, there goes your DPS.
I saw that Necrobuster thread with might, (I read most Necro threads everyday, between play, shows how much of a lurker I am.) and it is an interesting effort. The most fun I have is when I’m playing with an ele and a guardian and I am getting 25 stacks of might consistently. Amazing thing it does on your condition damage.
Upping the bleed coefficient would be one way to go. But Necro bleeds should already be doing the most damage, as we are probably stacking the most condition damage.
Offloading some on to poison would hurt for PVE though, because it only stacks in duration, meaning if 20 people are fighting a boss, all the necros are going to be adding on to the same poison timer. But the bleed cap isn’t any more helpful in that regard. Burning would be better in that regard as its so short, you’re not going to see the cap hit much.
And this is why Balancing on both PVP and PVE is hard. Burning and Fear, even if it’s not making the boss run away, if it ticks for more damage I would be satisfied.
See my above post about spreading the damage around more. Also we do have ‘Target the Weak’ that gives us 2% more damage per condition, the funny thing is that only affects direct damage, while if you have a build triggering it with many conditions, often means you have gimpy direct damage, so it doesn’t do that much.
But that is also a trait that would become better if we had access to confusion or burning, as it would be one more condition not just for another 2%, but one more condition to hide our stronger damage debuffs behind.
I use to use the Skale Venom consumable in WvW for that purpose, not because it was so great on its own, but kept 2 more conditions around to hide my bleeds as well as for target the weak. Now they nerfed using that in WvW, but still helpful in PVE for the same purposes.

On Confusion, when I learned that asurans have Pain Inverter, I wished I rolled an Asuran Necro.
What I would like to see is some spreading out of our condition damage, to alleviate so much of it being bleeds. When almost all your DPS is in one stack of a condition and someone wipes a 20 bleed stack, you just lost a massive truckload of damage, likely lost the fight.
If they did more of a balance with poison (or one of the other dmg conditions I mentioned, burning & confusion) it would really help our reliability of damage as well as attrition playstyle.
Something like upping our poison durations for a few seconds, and reducing some of our bleed durations. Right now we have bleeds that last base 10 and 30 seconds. It’s easy to get those near 20 seconds and 60 seconds with bleed duration, but its just overkill. Only the most moronic player is going to let a bleed sit on them for 20 seconds, let alone 30 or 60.
Terror was a good step in this direction, but has to be built heavily for to be truly effective.
I could use more poison. Poison is good since we make their healing less effective. With them wiping more conditions but us makes their healing innefective would be good for attrition.
How about decreasing our bleed stacks but increasing the damage of each individual bleeds, so that we could be effective at less stacks thus getting less kitten by the 25 stack limit? Thus making us the only class that deals more damage with each bleed.
Conditions as stated. The duration runes being bugged is really annoying me, because when you have so many conditions, its a multiplier to make them last longer.
The real question though concerning conditions being our strength, is are they too easy to counter in PVP, are there too many cleanses readily available, especially as groups get larger and share them.
In PVE mobs have no defenses and conditions can wreck stuff, but PVP we are totally at the mercy of the other guys build.
Wish we had something like the ability to ‘blow up’ our conditions or a trait that put some kind of debuff on an enemy for cleansing, just to give us some small control over our conditions being totally neutralized.
Would really love to have even one application means of Burning or Confusion too. Of course its nasty to spread it via epidemic with teammates, but they aren’t always around. It’s clear they didn’t want our conditions to reach too much DPS levels, but then again, with the lack of availability of positive buffs we have, I think it would be fair for us to have those two conditions minimally.
I feel you on the bugged condition duration so I’ve been parking my necro a lot because of it till they fix it.
Interesting, we should have a unique mechanic to our conditions that makes us stronger as we deal more conditions without making us overpowered. Cleansing on the other hand happens too much in PVP, and with our semi long cooldowns reapplying them takes a while and by the time we reapply it to a reasonable stack, they cleanse it again.
Any good ideas about it?

@Furienify – I agree, I want us to be that class that you want to think twice about engaging, I want players to say, “Holy Kitten, once I engage that Necro I should win, or I will never be able to escape.” If Thieves are the pillar of escaping, I want us to be the pillar of “You will never be able to run away.” I think a few more tweaks to our class should get us nearer.

I do understand that we excel in manipulating and controlling our conditions and to some extent the players around us. That’s what I love in being a Necromancer. But do you think it is enough for players and other classes to “Need” us in the current Tpvp, WvW and PVE meta?
@Softspoken – I like that. If guardians are Boons and Fire, we should be Conditions and Chill. The Mr. Freeze build was aimed for that but a few more tweaks for more chills available naturally to our class sounds good. Death is cold.
Here in the Necromancer forums, we always read that, other classes can do what we can do better. On Burst Damage, Warriors and Thief excel. Guardians and Elementalists excel at Bunker builds. Rangers and Engineers excel at condition damage (mainly bleeds).
Guardians excel at fire cond. damage, while Mesmers have their confusion, etc. etc
Thieves are known for their ability to “slip right out of your hands”. I think you get the gist at what I’m trying to say.
So this opinion thread asks the Question: What should the Necromancer be really good at? On what aspect of the Necromancer should we excel at? If it doesn’t exist, tell me what you think the Necromancer should be.
Since this is an opinion thread please respect other people’s opinions. I’m genuinely curious as to what the community wants our most beloved Necro to be.
TL;DR Every Class excel at something, what should we as Necromancer have that will make us excel and make the Necro awesome.

Those who are saying that Necros are the worst class in the game should look at the ranger and engineer boards. And I’m not going to mention names but I can’t even remember you guys contributing useful information to the necromancer forums that would help our class. All you did was whine. I guess it’s a L2P on your side (on the people saying we suck, not the OP).
While I admit that the class is not without its problems. We are far from useless in 1v1 even in world vs world. But no amount of people being awesome with necromancers will convince the Naysayers. So kitten it.
I guess the appeal of the Necromancer is it’s really Hard to master. But I like it. Once I find myself doing really good in other classes. Guardian gets too boring. I can carry a team in AC at level 40, elementalist and thief are so easy to play for me. And I really enjoy playing my necro because it has less room for errors and that’s what makes it exciting for me. PVE is easy enough, so I love the extra challenge.

I would love to join, but my necro is only fully geared as a conditionmancer at the moment. I agree that there is too much hate on Necro’s and this thread is a really good idea as to prove it once and for all. Sure Warriors and other classes can do stuff better (Try hanging out at the ranger thread and they seem to think they are the worst class ever, the warrior forums are also filled with whiners) but I’m fully supportive of people who play Necromancers that tries to do something like this.
Players like Nemesis and Sheobix have made tons of worthwhile contribution to the class so when they speak, I listen coz they know what they’re talking about.
For the whiners, all you do is propagate that we as a class suck. While we have our bugs and all, I think a large amount of this is because it has been said again and again that we’re not that good. It became the mentality that people are not trying anymore. As long as I can see players actually doing something to be the best in this class the more their words has weight compared to the “woe is the necro” whiners.
Forum whiners compare the Elite 3% players of other class to the worst necro players.
This is my favorite Wvw Necro of all time. As I use the same build. It’s awesome.

well, i hope we have a lot of power builds, because if 2 people are running a decent condition build, that accounts for 25 bleeds stacks, and then your basically just trying to damage the mob with a scepter. hahah.
so, 2-3 condition necros, and the rest power builds when killing boss mobs. That would be ok. especially if you have 2-3 bleed necros, 2-3 vulnerability necros, and the rest power necros with minions.
Just my two cents, this is thread to have fun and and have a first hand experience on what it’s like to play with dozens of Necros all over the place. Let people bring whatever necro they want to bring and just chill the hell out. There’s plenty of posts already all over these forums telling Necros not to play cond and blah blah already.
I’ll try to catch Bas and the others online tomorrow provided I finish all my workload. I’m definitely looking forward to wash Tyria with the screams of death!

I was with them on today’s Sorrow’s Embrace. It was my first time there, but we killed everything there and done everything legit. (No shortcuts and exploits)
I was able to join on the last path of AC and it was awesome. Everything died so fast. We killed all the Breeder tunnels including all the mobs and it didn’t take much time at all. I thought burrows are going to be a problem but we destroyed them so fast there were always a few seconds where we were just standing around and waiting for the next burrow to show up.
Everything went better than expected (except the fire rings around the minions in SE’s) And we got way too confident on Collossus Rumblus, fighting it when there’s still breeders around. But other than that, all necro run was really good.
You guys should post a video of this. I am looking forward to watching it. Since those are weekdays. I probably have work and wouldn’t be able to come.
So a video would be nice.

While the actual quality/standard of your work is high, I must make a few comments:
- With those prices, you’re very unlikely to see very many commissions (from these forums here, anyway). I know of a handful of comparable artists who offer colored fullbodies in the $30 – $40 price range.
- What’s up with the attachment/your “Roster 1” pic? Basically, do you plan on doing all of your commissions using a pre-prepared base? Because that would have some unfortunate implications for anyone wanting charr or asura out there.
EDIT: And $40 extra for a simple background is basically lunacy. I can understand $60 for a single character with high technical skill and detail, but… I could create a background similar to any one of the ones featured on your DeviantART account with relative ease.

Nope, those are just examples. I will do everything from scratch. Especially for the Asuran’s and the Charr requests. I won’t use a base for the commissions.
