If people are having difficulty on path 3 due to Warmaster Grast getting killed, send me a PM and ill tell you the tactics
You absolutely DO NOT NEED warmaster grast in p3.If you have anything to share, why not share it here?
You’re right to be honest, I may start a new thread with AC (NEW) tactics. Give me some time to compile it properly so that groups of any class can do it( Will also need to include some screenshots ).
I am currently viewing many people who are upset about their rangers and are making new characters. We only have 2 active rangers in my guild, 1 of which this morning told me that she feels like ranger isn’t good enough.
Any class can do this run, you just need the right tactics. You need to observe your surroundings before you engage in any boss, and even while engaged you need to observe where things happen.
Apart from that you should also observe the programming of bosses/npcs and how they can benefit your party.
Any dungeon can be done, some dungeons might require some briefing/observation time.
Now AC sometimes requires observation/coordination, especially on the ghostbusters path, and path 3.

+14% crit rate will increase your total damage by approx 12.5% starting at a base crit rate of 11%, assuming you have +50% crit damage. You’d need around +150% crit damage, to get close to +25% damage. Increasing crit does, of course, help with procs like sigil of fire, empowering might, etc. that can add to damage, but even with those you aren’t going to come close to +25%.
Throwing out random numbers like 40% and 25% reduces your credibility almost as much as acting all mysterious about your build as if you are running something nobody else has tried before.
I’m not sure if you can read, but I’m calculating the increase damage with GS spin. I hit 2500 with 11% crit. with 25% crit I hit up to 3500-4000. Now, try working out that % increase, it’s definitely not 12.5%
Now if you would like me to include the Logical equations such as, “Let us assume that the attack is done on the exact same mob both times” , just say so. Anyone can act smart nowadays.
:P
And sure, many people may have tried it, but not many people master it.
Increasing your crit chance by 14% does not increase damage 40%.
For a PTV Guardian, the difference between 11% crit and 25% crit chance makes a big difference. No crit spins hit 2500 damage. Spins with crits hit 3500-4000.
I see the difference in this, if you don’t well that’s not my problem. :P
But to make this more believable to the sceptics, let’s make it 25% more overall damage.
I have opted to go for full Soldier gear. (PTV)
The reasons for this solely rely on my traits. One would say, the more health the worse off you are. I disagree, as when in a team, or in a WVW zerg, there is constant healing going on, and being healed up to 25k health would simply mean you can take more of a beating ( survive bursts ) much better than a person in clerics gear for example.
Also, thanks to my traits, healing is pretty simple, and I also have 8 condition removals per 20 seconds.
I have survived in a 3 on 1 fight, and managed to take down 2 of them. No, they weren’t noobs.
Many would complain that my damage is not good in this build, well in fact, all you need is 1 thing to increase your damage by about 40%.
Using a simple potion, my critical chance goes up to 25% from 11% ( also my GS has +5% critical chance ).
I won’t simply give the name of the potion, but it is pretty common, and the more health and toughness you have, the more precision it gives you.
I have won countless duels ( in spvp ) with guardians who claimed that their clerics gear was unbeatable. True, all the fights lasted about 3-4 minutes each, but they simply couldn’t dish out enough damage to kill me, especially since I have a constant stream of regeneration.
I have been playing PTV guardian from the start, and am now finishing up my PTV ascended gear. I can honestly say, I love this build and it makes me feel like I can always lead my team to victory.
If you would like a better explanation of this build, send me a PM, and i’ll give some more details. But let’s put it this way, It’s much better than the Hammer-AH guide in this section.

I’m going to be honest here.
Warrior is a really fun class to play, and can wield lots of weapons.
But heck, the only weapons a zerk warrior will wield is a Greatsword
or –
(one handed) + axe.
I wouldn’t go so far as to call warriors gods, as not 1 warrior has ever been able to beat my guardian. Including Full Zerk warriors spamming hundred blades hitting their supposed 20k damage which only turns out to be 6k of my 24k health.
I run a Soldier guardian, hitting 600-1k per hit (5k per greatsword spin) , hit you back 400 damage everytime you hit me, and at 24000 health and 3200 armour.
8 Condition removals per 20 seconds, and unlimited heals.
The Guardian , when built properly and played for days on end for consecutive months, is the true God.
I also find it very hypocritical that Legendaries are tradable while Ascended items are not.
I highly agree with you on that!
But, I think there is a reason. Legendaries are simply a cosmetic item, with no increase in stats.
Ascended Items have better stats than normal exotics.
Legendaries have the exact same stats as exotics, and therefore are called Cosmetic items, unlike ascended items which have better stats.
Hi Darksanity,
I crafted master and rares and made money and I also bought everything :O
Again, not my point, and not at all what I was asking, please re-read what I asked in the original post.
On a side note: apparently there is a 60s hole in one of the exotic markets that you exploited and filled by crafting your 40 items. Others that might not have made their 40 items yet and might not have been aware of this, and can just head over to spidygw2 quickly and find this hole and maybe make a profit for themselves also. So thanks for helping out some others by sharing Darksanity.
Regarding my second question in my opening post, perhaps this will be one of the ways in which this monthly will ‘impact’ the market.
It will put a lot more items onto the BLTC causing item inflation for those that simply craft without taking the time to seek market inefficiencies?
Ah, I must have misunderstood your main question/statement then.
Yes, eventually that 60s gap will be filled, but there are other gaps which one can try out which may even net a profit of 11 gold. It just requires a good investment, and many people are rather scared to invest with money over 30 gold.
I’m currently thinking about investing in 400 gold to make 550g on a single item. I won’t reveal the name of this, but It can provide great profits to be made.
Sorry for going off-topic.
You are asking a question that no1 knows for sure.
First of all, we need to check what does the percentage is all about.
For the Globs ectoplasms we know they can be salvaged into 3, 2, 1 or 0 for each lv70-80 rare. Considering that they are independent of other factors and all these cases are the total possible outcomes, then, you have 18,75% of chance to drop at least 1 Ecto! (25% x 3/4 of the cases)!
Let’s make the assumption that the rarer crafting materials that can be salvaged into, also works based on this pattern, then:
A have a chance of 18,75%
B have a chance of 18,75%.Now there are some other variables that should be accounted for. Tridents for example, need Ore and wood to be produced. So there are 2 types of rarer materials that can be salvaged into. Does this make an impact on the odds?
Also, does the table have a salvage amount chance (Chance to drop nothing, 1 material, 2 materials)? If they have, are they evenly distributed?
In conclusion, we can’t issue a theory based in absolutely vague hypothesis. There are to many unaccounted variables that may change the outcome enormously!
Ok, that made sense. I even forgot about the fact that a trident uses both ore and wood.
Thanks for your input.
The only reason it’s " costing you gold " is because there is no profit to be made with masterpiece materials.
I make up to 60s profit from each exotic I make. You just need to know what things to make.
Therefore getting my monthly actually made me about 6 gold by crafting exotics. And no, I didnt farm the mats, I bought everything.
I appreciate your reply, but this post has nothing to do with the ecto drop rate. I have no problem with the salvagedrop rates, as I’ve made 180 ectos in 6 days.
My question here is regarding the mechanics regarding salvaging a rare heavy piece of armour, which only rare materials to be dropped are orichalcum, and ectos.
Please re-read my post and understand the words and logic, because your reply didn’t really add to the topic of this thread. I don’t want this to become another ecto thread
No, it doesn’t. You can get a debit visa , instead of a credit card from your local bank
I posted this as a comment in another thread, but I thought I should give it a thread of it’s own as to fully understand how it works.
Now, hopefully this question can be answered.
Let us assume we are using Master/Mystic Salvage kits. They have a 25% chance of salvaging rarer materials.
Is this 25% chance applied to gain both materials, or one or the other?
This translated into logic :
A Master/Mystic salvage kit is used to salvage a Heavy lvl 70+ Rare item.
Let A be Orichalcum Ore
Let B be Glob of Ectoplasm
which of the following is the 25% chance applied to ?
A U B or A v B
(Either A or B ) or ( A or B or Both)
If it is A v B ( A or B or Both ) , is it possible to work the % as to what the chances are of actually getting both ?
To add to my thoughts, If one were to assume there are 3 variables – A or B or Both – does that mean there is a 25% chance to actually get nothing rarer?
A would have a 25% chance.
B would have a 25% chance,
( A and B ) would also have a 25% chance.
So therefore when salvaging a rare, (not a white, blue or green) the 25% chance is to get absolutely nothing rarer.
Please remember I may be completely wrong here, and that is why I am posting this.
Thanks for reading, and any replies would be appreciated.

Hello,
I was wondering if it would be possible, via support, to change my display name.
Here is my reason :
My Display name : “Darksanity” does not represent my In-Game characters, and no one here would be able to identify me unless they are in my guild/friends list.
I do realise now I had made a mistake when creating my account, and hadn’t thought the Display name through properly, as Darksanity used to be my gaming name on several games in the past.
Unfortunately, I now use My real name ( In a different way ) In game, and I find it much more personal than a random “Gamer Name”. It represents my character, ( as all my characters have the same surname )
I do realise this was my own mistake when I had Purchased this game last September, but I am willing to even pay a small price ( if needed ) to change my Display name, so that people may recognise me on forums.
Thank you for reading this post, and I look forward to any replies.
After running all the paths over 3 times, I can say that the dungeon has become MUCH easier.
If you are a glass cannon, then sorry it’s gotten harder.
Now for Pugs, a path might take them 1 hour and a half maximum, but it is very possible if they learn how to coordinate themselves.
In my guild, I teach all my members the tactics and tell them how to stay alive. Do so before a boss encounter.
Easy.
If u don’t know them, learn them. We did all 3 first paths without a wipe. Just takes coordination.

I’m currently building the “Soldier Build”
It’s basically focused on Survival, and I still feel that I input a good amount of damage.
Basically you need armour, accessories and weapons with :
- Power/Vitality/Toughness (Preferably Exotic)
- Superior Runes of The Soldier x6 ( For Armour )
- Crest of the Soldier ( For Accessories )
The problem here is Soldier accessories are very hard to come by, especially the exotic pieces.
An Exotic Soldier Amulet ( for example ) can only be bought from WvWvW for about 496 Badges of Honour. This requires A LOT of farming WvWvW kills and jumping puzzles.
I feel this build is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and to complement it I use 0/0/30/30/10 traits.
Damage is not an issue due to all the power I get from the Gear, so i’de rather stack up survivability. ( Toughness + Vitality )
If you do get this full build, you should have 23k Health and 3.4k Armour, while using Food would boost you up to about 24k Health and 3.5k armour.
YOU CAN ABSORB A TON OF DAMAGE.
I would much, much, much prefer another Shout to any of our elites.
I feel that a guardian should be in the front lines, and be able to carry his team to victory.
What better way to do this, rather than to add an elite shout to prepare allies for battle?
To make sure that this shout wouldn’t be overpowered in WvWvW, it would only affect 5 allies.
Just think about a guardians role. It’s to guard the team, and lead them to victory.
People love it when I absorb all the damage in dungeons, with 3.4k armour and 23k health. Not to mention Guardians also pull the most aggro.
Also keeping the team alive, using bubbles to revive a downed ally while protecting the both of you. There are so many other better elites we could have, but we’re stuck with tomes which last 10 seconds, and a Greatsword AOE Spin simply does way more damage than the elite anyways.
