Well i’m in all zerg gear and doing the molten zerker on lvl 30 and while it was challenging and took some coordination it’s a extremely fun fight in my opinion. Just get everyone to spread out around the platform and hang around the edges for when he teleports. If he ports to you immediately dodge to avoid the hit and make your way far enough from him to avoid most dmg from the shock waves (that’s assuming that you can’t jump them normally or have trouble doing so) so they won’t one shot you. if someone dies at the edge of the platform they are much easier to rez then stuck in the middle
Best dungeon experience in awhile. Loved the mechanics although a few were a little buggy at times but overall a step in the right direction for letting the player figure out what to do and where to go instead of the typical zerg style boss encounters.
I will say though the rewards for completion were kinda pathetic, I mean in my mind that path is more comparable with arah style difficulty and should be more rewarding upon completion.
I love the mechanics to the fight and the challenge. I however really dislike the wait time for spawn and the open world aspect that leaves too much to chance without a piling 90 of your closest friends into the same overflow in order to get a killing attempt.
I really enjoy hard and challenging things that require a lot of skilled people to overcome but I am a old WoW player and liked the aspect of raids where you could bring 20 of your closest friends and try attempt after attempt in order to vanquish the turrible beasties.
It would be cool to see incensed bosses that you could attempt with your guild to try and best.
Battle standard can also be used to rez people or Lords in the middle of a fight in WvW, while nature spirit can be used to provide life force to enemy necromancers.
lol! You made my day with this comment, thank you very much XD
I’d like to see the ranger trait eagle eye get some love maybe 5% dmg and 5% crit applies to bow skills and harpoon gun instead of just longbow and harpoon gun
I’d just like to say in playing this game it’s about your personal opinion about are you having fun or are you not. If you have fun playing the game, what does it matter if you get the best gear or shiny think out there. Of course if you want the best gear or shiny thing out there your going to have to put in effort and time to obtain it which in this case is either playing the game casually to obtain it at a slower rate or grinding to obtain it faster. Set yourself a goal and work towards it. Don’t think that because you play the game or have been playing for a long time means your entitled to the top rewards with out putting in the effort to obtain them. That’s like working a job for a year and wondering why you haven’t been made president of the company yet. Remember in this case it’s just a game if your not having fun with it take a break, you can always come back to it later.
All they need to do is fix the rate at which aoe dmg/agony affects pets, give us a pure pet based heal ability attached to them and let us revive them instead of the 60 second cd timer when both are down from excessive aoe dmg.
It’s not a matter of “if” we go back to dragons or not, it’s more a matter of “when”, and it will most likely happen when they feel they’ve built up the systems they wanted to, to go forward with a new dragon storyline.
It’s like you’ve never tried to put yourself in a developer’s shoes before. I’m pretty sure Zhaitan feedback was on the underwhelming side, and ANet is aware of that.
They’re not going to go back into the personal story/dragon lore making the same mistakes again. They need time to build systems up, and when they do go back to it, they want it to be good.
Living story is practice. Players may whine all they want, but down the road, things will just get more and more efficient as the tools they use get more and more refined. Both months of Southsun, were practice. Flame and Frost is practice. Bazaar of the four winds, and cutthroat politics are all practice. Clockwork Chaos is practice. SAB, while seperate from the game, is an exercise in game mechanics, which may inform future jumping puzzles. And most recently, the Tequatl revamp, is most definitely practice, and if ANet is to be believed, the would be the first exercise in better ‘major boss’ mechanics. They would practice with each of the existing world dragons (and maybe some new ones) and then they could go back and revamp the zhaitan fight, or have a completely new and polished, elder dragon fight.
And if you try and think of their alternatives, they really did go with the best route of action. You may say “Well, if this is all practice, then they should’ve practiced it before releasing, I’d rather have higher quality releases than this”. Sure, you’d be fine, but one hundred foaming players right behind your back will scream and shout “WHERE IS THE CONTENT ANET.” Or what if, let’s say they went with something more traditional – they announce an expansion, but that expansion will be exactly what an expansion would usually entail – more maps, higher cap, etc. There will be people screaming “SO UN-IMAGINATIVE BORING SAME OLD SAME OLD I COULD BE PLAYING insert other game here”.
OP, please get some empathy, and think in their shoes for once. They’re people. They have to answer to a playerbase who wants everything. They have to answer to NCSoft who only want a bottom line. They also have their own goals they want to see, ideas they want to see come to fruition. It’s not a matter of “if”. It’s a matter of “when”.
I think this was very well put
When GW2 first came out, I bought it understanding that it would be a game all about what I want to do. I love the PvE and Living Story content, but I’m not a huge fan of WvW, just not my cup of tea. I have 5 level 80’s and never really crafted, cause it was cheaper to just sell the mats and buy the exotics I wanted on the Trading Post, or buy them with karma in Orr. I could participate in any content I wanted, without being penalized for it.
Now it’s different. Now I need to get level 500 crafting in everything in order to have the best gear? Or hope the RNG gods will give a stat I want in the Fractals? Or shell out the cash for legendaries?
None of these options seem to reflect the Guild Wars that I’ve been a part of since Prophecies.
Who said you have to get to 500 crafting? If that’s a personal goal your setting for yourself in order to craft yourself some ascended gear then that’s fine but the game’s really all about what you make of it. If your not having fun playing it no ones forcing you to and if you enjoy playing it then set yourself goal to get where you want to be with the limited time you have to play the game. The reason they release so much content is to give everyone options of different and new things to do, doesn’t mean you have to do them all.
Great event, if you miss the 10 minute opening for server/overflow just ask in your guild if anyone is doing it currently. Join their party and you’ll be able to get into the area most likely
There is a pve daily that goes towards the achievement, do that each day and it will cut down on the number of achievements you need to do in the invasions total
There’s a thread in the Dynamic events category called Uncontested Temple of Balthazar, have you tried looking at that and guesting to one of the places that have done it recently?
Completed it on a Ranger
Build 0/30/20/20/0 Full condition/toughness/precision set + accessories
Weapons Short bow and axe/torch
Precision Maintenance Oil and Dodge/fury food
Runes of Perplexity and Sigil of Geomancy/ sigil of earth
Torch #5 is nice for getting rid of the orbs and also dmging the boss if she is near
I found Runes of Perplexity on the armor were a huge help as when the boss whirls use short bow 5 to proc the #6 rune ability. Otherwise use strafe at a angle and use poison volley when up and she goes down nice and quick like.

taking away options or making the content harder to prevent people from farming it makes it impossible for those that are trying to do 5 gambit but don’t have the right classes imo
I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this thread. I think (in my opinion) that this is one of the best updates that they have released. it ushers more gold into the economy, REWARDS players for completing achievements and has some good mechanics for hardcore AND casual players. If you play casually you can do everything within the 1 month that it is here for you just have to prioritize what things matter the most to you. If you have the read the dev’s posting they are trying to release more content that they can recycle and improve upon each year for their yearly portfolio of holiday events. Just be patient more main line story will come soon enough. Instead of being negative about what you felt you didn’t like about the patch why not just focus on what you did like. No one is forcing you to play the new content or the game for that matter.
Very nice job A-Net, wonderful patch
In my opinion MMO’s these days are great but if your into comparing them against one another any way you go there are going to be things that you really liked about each one and things you didn’t like about each one. Everyone has a different viewpoint about what makes a good mmo. If the things that you dislike far outweigh the thing you like ask yourself why are you still playing. As far as content patches go guild wars has some of the most laid back content patches I’ve seen giving you a small number of tasks to do to complete achievement/rewards but at the same time giving you incentive to log in to see the new updates and changes on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.
Well the update notes from the 26th say
“Pets now benefit from their owner’s agony resistance.”
I thought the same as you that they inherit it but I wanted to make sure it was functioning as intended since it was stating 0
I saw it mentioned in the patch notes that pets will now inherit some agony resistance from the ranger but when looking at the pet tab inside the fractal with still states my pet has 0. My character currently has 40. Just wanted to make sure this is functioning as intended. I’m sure someone has asked about it already I just couldn’t find the post anywhere.
Just as a suggestion since it seems that no one ever uses spirits because of their poor survivability why not just make it a aura that the ranger puts out on activation. The aura could have a specific glow or maybe some cool spirit armor that appears on the ranger for the duration of the buff in the color of the spirit or even little spirits taht swirl around the ranger while active
That way it is still the same concept but more idealistic. The grandmaster trait could then be something that maybe extends that buff a few seconds extra or increases the dmg or attributes that buff provides.
Just a suggestion but if the goal was to spread people out and and make it so people were taking part in more events throughout the day why not make rewarding for people to complete all the events in a area. Say if you completed all the events in a area/zone once a day you would get a “area” chest with better loot in it (kinda like how the zone rewards for world completion popped up). In my mind it would encourage people to go back to lower areas and take part in events that were happening with this aspect of a reward at the end.
