Playing this build whilst leveling up is a blast, and has made me feel more like a ranger than any other build so far. Good times
It is different now though. I’m sure its different than launch.
Dungeon bosses melt nowadays so i’d say a power build suits that more. Fractals work much better with conditions.
Just keep a cheap power set for dungeons and keep this for open world/fracs
Leveling ranger again and decided to mix things up using shortbow and axe/torch with traps. Noticing I can put down alot of conditions very quickly and its a nice change of pace.
So I just tried a cheap version of the condi build, and its really fun in open world. Really high bleed hits, I was getting up to 30 stacks on my own with my pet
Currently at level 20 at the moment and its my last class to get to 80.
So far i’m kind of unimpressed. The weapons feel clunky and I feel rather slow. Do traits and better stats as I level make a difference?
Thank you for this, i’m going to give it a whirl It seems it might do ok in pve too!
See i’ve had people tell me I should just level a rev instead but I just find all the weapons really clunky and the whole feel of the class does nothing for me.
I am levelling a guard and am enjoying it. I do wish the skills were a little more interesting, most of them seem quite flavourless compared to other classes.
As title really, are guard/dragon really in such a bad spot at the moment?
Build would be great and that budget is doable
That looked really fun. What build do you use? Is there one you could recommend on a “budget” so to speak?
Hi all,
I see alot of dungeon builds but what would an effect open world build be? Thinking more in line with HoT maps with some party support.
How do I even use the little guy? Is it an additional button? Or am I right in saying it doesn’t work on npcs?
The function gyro works on downed enemies or downed friendly players. Since NPCs don’t go into the downed state (they go directly to defeated), you can’t use this on them.
To use the Function gyro, you just target the ally or enemy in downed state and press F. You’ll see a ‘Press F’ thing on your screen, similar to if you were going to rally/stomp yourself if the function gyro is available. You can also tell if it’s available or on cd by the red gyro flying over your shoulder.
Thank you for explaining. I’ve gotten confused on what the differant “down states” were called. Great stuff
I can’t even get it to deploy in PvE, like, ever. I have since removed myself from the scrapper spec, it’s just no good IMO. Maybe down the line once I’ve put many more points into it.
With the right gear and setup you can break enemy break bars on your own. Once you get used to the class it really opens up. I never got on with the original engie but now I can’t imagine playing any other class. But each to there own

Thanks for the replies guys appreciate it. I read the DH has quite good condi damage, does that show even in your zerker builds?
So I am in the process of getting towards Dragonhunter and am wondering what stats people have found most effective?

Most of all the majority of the expansion I am enjoying, so well done and thank you.
The only issues I have is
- Hero points with champions. Great if your with a group or one comes to help. Not so great if not. I had an hour to kill before work this morning and thought to myself that I would get some hp. Unfortunately I did not get a single one due to no one being in the areas and I could not solo them. Either raise the pop cap or please allow these to scale down better.
- Mastery system. I like it. However the progressive amount of xp needed goes against the “same xp for 20 to 80” and isn’t the reason I play this game. More xp from events is needed to feel more rewarding.
Thanks again.
As the title states.
I am looking for a smallish guild that feels like a family and is acceptive of all genders, race, sexuality, etc.
I myself am 28 years and from the UK, and would class myself as a friendly easy going guy.
Hope to hear from people soon,
Cheers,
Dave
As above. Me and a friend are looking for said guild on the Europe side of things. Let me know if anyone knows of or is in one!
Hi all,
I sadly have limited playtime and so I don’t have much time to keep swapping builds out / hunt for different sets of armour. I was wondering if there was a good support build that has a good crossover with both PvE / WvW?
would this work as a PvE support build for dungeons and general PvE content? I’m currently leveling in a glass cannon dps build and whilst I enjoy it, its not what I came to do with the Guard. I really want to be a support class as I miss being a dedicated healer, and so I am looking for something to substitute that role.
Granted I am only a lowly level 20 but I am really struggling. I seem to die alot, and seem slow to kill almost anything.
I’m running s/p and gs at the moment.
Could you not make another engineer, pick the goggle option, transmute it onto a white item and make it account bound?
I just want to open my saying the games soundtrack is lovely. However, I can’t help but constantly notice that perhaps 60%/70% seems to me to be used in the wrong place.
I was listening to the full soundtrack the other day, and have honestly heard tracks there that I haven’t heard before. I think if possible, time could be spent remapping where and what music plays, as I really feel that its underused and not used as effectively as it could be.
Dave
Sorry to be a pain, I was wondering if anyone could re link the build that adapts this awesome build into something useful for pve/dungeons?
I agree, I think a bit of work going through and placing certain tracks in certain areas would help with the immersion. I have the full ost, and I have honestly never heard some of the tracks in game, which is a shame as there some of my Favourites,.
what builds you running amos?
I think hes just sarcastic dude
oh…
what builds you running amos?
Am I missing something, AH only heals yourself, so how would it be good for support? Sorry I am very new to guardians
As title, is there an effective one out there? Would prefer to play my engy but I’m running out of ways to enjoy it
Link to the new music?
I still don’t get the whole idea that Engineers aren’t effective. I’ve never felt ineffective as an Engineer and I’ve been playing one since the first beta. If they are so ineffective, then why do I win 80% of my one on one confrontations in sPvP? Why do I rack up kills in WvW and rarely ever die or even go down? Why have I been able to complete the entire personal story (minus Arah, obviously) solo without a single failure? Why was I able to, with great ease, achieve 100% map completion? Why have my only unsuccessful dungeon and fractal runs only occurred when one or two other party members get disconnected? Why do my Guild mates love to group with me and ask quite often how I perform so well in party/group situations? How come when I join speed clear groups we clear dungeons faster than what other party members normally experience? Are we even playing the same profession?
Sent you a pm, would love to know your builds, etc
as much as I agree with you, its a shame you still don’t deem the engy as effective…
Hey all. When guild wars 2 came out I knew I wanted to be an Engy. I played him quite alot until I hit the 50s, when I found that I wasn’t having fun and so I re rolled. After playing a few classes I feel that perhaps I did not give him a fair shot.
I know that the class as a very poor reputation, and alot of our skills are crap, but if any engys out there can share there ideas I would very much appreciate it.
One thing I want to point out though, not the biggest fan of grenades.
So I leave my level 59 Engineer in your hands!!!
Perhaps a little hard to explain in a title, but I will try explain it here.
Basically, almost all of the time, when I go to pick up my banner whilst also running, I don’t pick it up but carry on going forward with any control for a few seconds. Pretty annoying to then have to run back and grab it.
Just thought I would let you know.
Server: Piken Square EU
Connecting from Amsterdam area, my pings on online games are usually 15ms and no packetloss obviously.Started to notice network, packetloss style, lag since a few days ago. In some zones it seems fine but in others there will be a pause in gameplay of 1 to 2 seconds every 5 or so seconds. Very annoying and brings down enjoyment of the game by a lot.
This didn’t happen during headstart or the week after that, smooth lagless gameplay until now.
Exactly the same here. First week or so it was perfectly fine, now I’m getting a second or two of latency whenever I use an ability, evade etc.
On Piken Square [EU] also. From the UK, on Sky Broadband.
Having the exact same problem but on Virgin MEdia
