I know it’s fun to bash on Cele but I feel the need to remind you these players are still out of our league without Celestial Amulet. You talk about abusing it, that is a joke. They are using the best builds available because they are the best competitors in this game. In any game you can see the top teams playing builds that scrubs will call “OP” or “cheesy” it does not change the fact that these guys will always out rotate you or I.
Hmm. Any top team is going to run the top builds, your argument is a bit weak. Abjured also plays rather well, that’s what sets them apart from the rest of us schmucks. Team composition and time spent practicing is what won WTS, not the celestial amulet. Whatever the “OP” build is, the top dogs are going to play it. You call it cheesy, the rest of us call it strong. If you want to compete, play strong builds, that is how any game works. If you don’t want to compete, please don’t talk about meta.
Also, cele meta is really not that bad. You think engi and ele are OP? I say, get good.
Hey Beorn, thanks for the response! I’m always looking to expand my group of PvP buddies and happen to have room for another guild. I have been fairly active with one PvP guild lately and might not rep anything else all that much, but if you’re interested in adding me in-game or throwing a g-invite my way I’d be happy to play with you / your guildies some time. I don’t really venture out of the HotM though I’ve considered it, joining a PvX guild might just help me expand my knowledge of Guild Wars outside of tpvp.
Thanks again for reading the post, I hope to see you on the battlefield.
Still looking. Bumping because new forums buried my post.
Q ( T~T Q )
Hello!
I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 for 6+ months and grow weary with Solo Queue; practicing rotations and duels can be done in this environment but with no guarantee of skilled opponents. I’ve joined a few PvP Guilds and have played with TS but not as much as I’d like. Every guild falls apart after a while or has no interest in actually practicing. I’m looking for a team to practice regularly with and work towards earning wins in tournaments to come. I will not claim to be godtier, perhaps B tier, but I want to devote the time and energy to raise my skill level in this game.
I’ve played most of the meta Warrior builds though my favorite at this time is Celestial Shouts with Sword/Sword + Longbow. I’ve also practiced with Necro, Guardian, and Ranger – none of these have nearly as many matches as Warrior though practicing multiple classes seems advantageous.
Some Stats/Information:
~1500 matches played with Warrior
~400 with Necro (Terror build / some Zerker games)
~200 with Ranger (most games played during the Spirits meta)
I have a calm demeanor in TS and do appreciate hearing about my mistakes as that is the only way I can improve upon them. Currently, I’ve noticed I am a bit quiet on comms and will have to work on improving my communication. This is something I hope to do with with like-minded players (competitive nature) who are looking to improve their skills and grow as a team. I am willing to learn/practice with any class.
I am in the Pacific time zone (PT) and generally play after 6pm on weekdays and anytime/all-day on weekends. Hit me up here or in game, Dawes.2378 (Jordawes is the Warrior’s name) any time!
I hope to hear from any teams out there or anyone interested in building a team.
THANKS FOR READING!!
Anyone have a link to the matches? I’ve found the Finals on Jebro’s PastBroadcasts but I have thus far been unable to find any other coverage.
Thanks!
Assuming it went along as planned, how did it go? Enough people show up to get it going?
tell it like it is BLU!
We all want to watch the matches and cheer on the participants but if the viewership turns on the players it would seem the only thing that can be done is to take it off-stream. Much respect for taking down the stream when the community was turning toxic.
Hopefully more players will stream their POV during the ESL weeklies as it truly is fantastic having both perspectives. The shout casters do a fantastic job in every match but as an avid watcher/player of the game, I want it all.
Sign me up for this! This sounds fantastic, major props to you for organizing something to help the PvP community.
@Any of the players:
- What were you doing in Guild Wars 2 before joining competitive teams?
- Were you devoting time to tpvp and actively looking for like minded players or were you recruited from a PUG?
- What should player’s practice the most in solo matches (for players who don’t have a team to practice with and are looking to lessen their skill gap from casual to tournament worthy play)
I main Warrior, also tinker with Necro, Ranger, and Guardian – amount of playtime is in that order. Add me in game, I’m generally on in the evenings (timezone: PST) and weekends.
I would love to try out with y’all. Dedicated Warrior here, strong understanding of the roles my class can fill and the stratagem of conquest style matches. I also practice with Guardian, Necro, and Ranger. I am generally on in the evenings and weekends as that is all work hours permit me. I am in the Pacific time zone, so a few hours behind EST, but you’ll see me on from 6:30-9(PM) my time almost any weekday. Have TS3 and am of an agreeable disposition. Looking to improve my skills in a competitive environment and grow into greatness with a team of likeminded folks.
Hello!
I’m Dawes and I generally play Warrior; I’ve also been known to play Necro and occasionally Ranger. I’ve been playing in tpvp for a few months and though I’ve played with groups I haven’t yet found a “team.” I’m looking to join a competitive group of players who share my passion for pvp. I have a mic and have used Ventrillo and TeamSpeak in the past.
In Game Name: Jordawes/Porajmos
Practice Time: Currently I have no time constraints, the times that I’m most likely to be online are 3pm-9pm PDT
Experience: The majority of my experience lies with the Warrior class though I’ve devoted time to the Necromancer as well. I’m willing to practice any class/role that a team may need, whether that means practicing new classes or changing the build of my current characters.
What I’m looking for: I’m hoping to find like minded players that are willing to devote the time and effort to becoming a seriously competitive team. My goal is to compete in the Mist League / any other tournaments that may arise.
If you have a question or want more information just send me a PM or contact me in game, thanks!
In-game name: Porajmos/Jordawes
Main Class / Potential Classes: Necro/Warrior
Region: [NA] Pacific Northwest
Practice Times: Any
Experience: Decent [r35]
Other: I’ve been interested in tPvP for a few months now though this is my first attempt to join an organized team. I do not play PvE or WvW, on a normal day I will play for 2+ hours. So far I’m about 50/50 in tournament play, without having a dependable tournament group my rating has been stuck in the dregs. Hope to hear from somebody soon! Thanks.
