Yeah , I agree with this, care bears start to whine and Anet run to make everything easy, Thank , I actually was having a great time working hard to get my elite, you killed any sense of reward.
Nop rev is not the hardest class to learn, engineers are, follow by ele and then maybe rev
I think that thematically speaking gyros are fine, please notice the word “thematically”, now after a glance I think that they going to need some work, I really easy way to improve the gyros viability is making it invulnerable to damage and use some sort of fuel system, some cooldowns are a little high overall . Also, it effect need to be more significant (beside sneak gyro).

Can you guys a least wait until they fully revelate the spec before hate the kitten out of it ? It can’t be worse than Tempest. I am expecting a nwe brawler option for the engi with the spec just looking the new trait
Well everybody have a different opinion but, an awesome build is just take Shiro/Herald with hammer and s/a, marauder amulet , yes a like glassy burst build , and the pressure potential of this setup is ridiculous, axe 4 and shiro 8 is virtually perma pressure, then when hp is low just use sword 3, at this point they are out of dodges and can’t stand it.
…
do you mean the other 8…90% thief players that are using D/P ? and, “new role” … like …?The 90% can be split into can be split into two camps:
1st camp. Didn’t play S/D because they didn’t like it. Well, doubt they will like the new spec.
2nd camp. Played S/D till forced into or saw how better (or other reasons) D/P is. The new elite spec, doesn’t bring much, aside from an aesthetic makeover to a style they’ve once played.
and they have all the right in the world to don’t like S/D, but I am pretty sure that there is more than one thief that actually enjoy S/D I do, and I had played D/P, do I am less theoretically competent that D/P ? maybe, do I have fun ? a lot, and yes the new elite is maybe acro 2.0 , but is not just a “aesthetic makeover” .
Why community is negative? 3 years of constant nerfs on nerfs, lying and frankly trolling.
HoT hype and all spec offered is acro 2.0. They nerfed acro for the sake of new spec so they can sell HoT which was pathetic move.New spec didn’t introduce any new role thief could fill. We are still +1 pet, that heavily relies on teammates to babysit him.
New spec has only synergy with evade builds (sword/x), nothing new for the rest zzzz.
Ahhh but, don’t you love all the ignorant hate from other classes have against thieves right now (well…before mesmer start to take some of the hate, but you get the idea…) their tears feed the soul… lol , jokes outside , yes we passed trough really tough times, plenty of nerfs and yet, I don’t see the thieves’ population decrease in pvp. Also, “New spec has only synergy with evade builds (sword/x), nothing new for the rest” nothing for the rest….. rest …. do you mean the other 8…90% thief players that are using D/P ? and, “new role” … like …?
They didn’t want an OP spec. They wanted something different. While they more or less got something different it ends up being a better version of something thieves already have. And so the question becomes “Why couldn’t they just put some of that into acro?”
I guess that is true, they could just update acro with all of this traits. However, “They wanted something different” I has been reading this kind of expression for a while, people say this and intermediately I imagine the thief using staff as a caster with a pointy hat and colorful spells … lol. I mean look the DH , it’s probably the most “different” spec compare to the original concept and just feel weird and have a total lack of synergy across new and old traits. Personally, I think that “something different” should maintain the core concept of the class.
Yeah… so much negativity, it’s like people are waiting any reason to hate, and complaint about any change. I play S/D so I don’t really like to depend of stealth too much. That is why I am kind of optimistic about this.
lol , the best part is that we change role, but we keep all the hate .
I honestly want to ask something , How possible is that the devs actually heard our suggestions and change the name to something more appropriate ? like seriously. I read a lot of good suggestion here , especially “Sentinel”, sounds good, fix the class concept , less cheesy, When I think about a Sentinel is a Archer that protect something. Also, this :
What is a Guardian in GW2 ? You don’t need a definition, just a short list of words
Justice – Soldier – Light – Protection
You should keep that kind of thematic list in mind when you make a new specialization. Those elements ARE actually in the Dragonhunter as a character, in the gameplay, in the visuals, but they are not in the concept even if you tried to twist it to make it fit. Actually you tried to twist it so much that it is completely far-fetched. And in the end we have something that is pretty inconsistent, mostly because the image you have of a Dragonhunter is absolutely not what most people will think about at first, and that is really important !There is also one last thing I did not talk about. Dragonhunter sounds bad.
You have set a pretty high standard considering how you choose the names in the GW universe : one word that summarizes the whole concept. This is something you are known for. Going for two words glued together feels like going down in quality for a lot of us.
Which I think is right , Dragonhunter sounds like something took for Final Fantasy, which is fine with that game, but don’t fix well here. Let analyze the name.
Dragon-hunter, What is the first think that you got when you heard the name ?, even a hunter that hunt dragons , or a hunter that use the power of the dragons. Both concepts are out of place for the Guardian. Every single class in the game hunt dragons and his minions , and based in what we saw the Dragonhunter only have one elite relate to the word “dragon” and i think that a couple of traits (not sure ). In conclusion, I vote Sentinel .
Well, from my point of view is fine because I have a guardian but not a ranger so, I think that I will never have the need to create one since i am pretty sure that will be more reliable just play Guardian especially without the annoying pet mechanism. Let suppose that Druid will be a support oriented class , do you guys think that will be better support than a simple Guardian ? , I doubt it. Now …. the name is not that bad but is so ….anticlimactic. Anet you can ask any random player from this forum and I pretty sure that will come with a better name … Sentinel , Archangel , Warden , Cheesecake Factory ….
Anyone who thinks that grenades are useful at 1500 range in any kind of PvP or WvW fight, never used grenades at 1500 range. They move so slow that it was near impossible to hit anyone at that range with them. The only thing they were useful for at that range was hitting targets on walls.
As far as dungeons, I don’t know of any dungeon fight where it is useful, much less required to be at 1500 range. There are almost none where it is even possible.
Ok let admitted, yes we actually almost never use nades at full range without sacrifice almost the entire effectiveness, but I still sad, not get me wrong, yes is probably for the best , I know, but I love that kit, I has been using nades since my early days.
If you have no interest at all to follow the actual meta, then basically you can play any armor , weapon or combination that you want , pretty straight forward, warriors already are in a decent postilion supporting the party by increasing the damage, playing traited shouts is all the support that you need, you are basically playing shoutbow on PVE without the bow.
Get full zerker! learn encounter mechanics along the way… as a guardian if you chain your aegis efficiently’, utilise blinds, reflects and dodges you’ll be fine. When I was learning guardian all those years ago (2 years trolol..) I found jumping straight into the deep end with zerker helped me in the long run. Yeah it was a bit tough at first but it’s all good practice.
Guardian has so much access to damage negation through skills and utility which is something I feel a lot of people take for granted. Why take a hit when you can dodge/blind/block/reflect it whilst dealing way more dps than you would in knights gear. Win/win
However, if you’re REALLY having a seriously problem then just run knight’s but don’t just sit and take all the hits, try and practice your aegis’, blinds, dodges etc as if you were in zerker and then gradually change your gear when you’re comfortable.
I did exactly that, I am new with my Guardian but I have experience with warrior and engi using just DPS armor, yes when I saw my health being only 9k was quite scary, but overall I think that is better “take the bull by the horns”, my first dungeons’ run with the guardian I just got down one time , still embarrassing but could be worse lol
Sadly, I never play GW1 so my knowledge about that lore is incomplete. However, I think that all depends of how you enter in the Mist , basically if you enter in the mist without died (Rytlock) would be a lot easier compere if you actually died and you soul is send to the Underworld. The Underworld is a realm inside the Mist, hence there is a difference between leave the underworld and leave the mist, even if this concept is sometimes mention as the same and obviously one realm is inside the other , The Mist is more like a dimensional collider, the fabric of space and time on GW universe.
I think it’s because of a mix of not having a huge chip on their collective shoulders any more, overthrowing the Flame Legion, and realising that in the long run they’re better having the other races as friends… or at least, not enemies which, while weaker individually, will likely ally and beat them collectively if the charr remain on a war footing with everyone indefinitely. Being able to remain at relative peace with the norn probably started that, and I expect it was not lost on the post-rebellion leaders of the charr – particularly those that know Pyre’s true story – that while humans can be aggressive to other races, they’re also quite capable of forming alliances to realise their goal.
A charm offensive on the part of the charr in order to establish peaceful relations with the norn, asura and other races is essentially a protection against humans being able to persuade everyone else that the charr were the Great Enemy that everyone needed to unite against.
.
Yes, you right sir, that make sense , and is strategically is a smart move. Norn and Asura will be a tough opponents on two different aspect , Technology and Combat Strength, even if Norn are weaker in number and lack on organization , but they are awful good soldiers . On the other hands, Asura have no defined army, and weak physical strength (debatable ), but they have best technology and far more analytical intelligence , would be tough indeed trying to battle against that sort of alliance .
Fun topic, but honestly be the good or the bad guys depends entirely of the point of view, yes Charr committed a lot of barbaric acts against humans during the Searing and follow invasions to the Orr and Kryta. However, we can’t blame Charr to kill or slaughter humans at the same way we don’t blame us for kill animals to survive. The problems that we are giving “humanity” to a total different race, that don’t follow human’s moral and don’t have to. Overall every race look for their own interest , actually is weird that charr decide to just rewrite their entirely society just to become more diplomatic and “polite” we the other races, let face it, they are one of the most powerful races right now.
Super destructive, super militaristic society. Logically speaking, it wouldn’t work. and its pretty antithetical to us in modern western society.
The Charr consume. There are no Charr naturalists. No Charr ecologists. etc.
they can only work as a Nomadic society. Like the Huns or Mongols in reality. but again, this requires more or less unlimited resources.
Realistically speaking, the Charr would not have enough farmland, hunting grounds, etc to actually feed themselves.Little to no art or culture.
That is why is my favorite race, charr are based half on the Roman empire and half on The Mongols . The Mongols was nomadic society compose of different tribes with different leaders and interest, that was until the Great Khan(Khan-Ur lol) united all the tribes. They was fierce warriors and really good horsemen , eventually, Mongols became a powerful nation why a powerful desire to expand and conquest others. Similar to the Romans, a strongly militarized society, with a strict set of ranks and duties, and a strong desire to conquest every nation around they to the point that they became one the biggest empires that ever exited in the world. The reason why they eventually perish was big divisions in the empire . Also, let say that charr have no art at all, which is debatable since art is way of expression and charr have a really unique architecture that can be considered art, also there is some basic jewelry , horn ornaments, special carves on weapons and armor that can be considered art but again is debatable, and they have culture, culture is a set of trait that define a society , hence, they had .

I know that this is maybe the topic number one thousand about to this issue, but I still have some doubts about why ?, why I have such a hard time finding a decent armor for my charr engineer ? Most common complain is the hobosacks, that is my last concern, you really want to suffer an esthetic struggle, be a charr engi, I run 3 kinds of armor Rabid, Soldier, and Assassin, and obviously I don’t want/like run exactly the same default best looking combination of armor (rascal/rubicon/forgeman), but guess what ? absolutely everything else looks ugly on you. I have a couple questions .
- Why the cultural armor supposedly designed for charr engineers look like some sort of homeless costume ? Charr basically created this profession , why they have a couple of rags as armor ?
- Ok, so no regular armor look good , let me try in the gem store….. bad luck dummy, you even look like you are using some sort metal tutu , or they don’t have size for you. The Magitech armor is really cool, look awesome on other races, why you can’t making the coat like the rubricon armor ?
- Why our tails have this magic property that make it possible to pass trough clothes without touch it ?
I know that is maybe hard change some of this aspects without touch sensitive points, but please for the future, put some love on the charr medium armor.
This is killing me, with the HoT release a want to put some serious love in my main, but is so limited what i actually can do to look something fresh

When I made my warrior a couple weeks ago I imagined myself being a frontline hack and slasher with one aim-… to fight and to kill (preferably with a large weapon or two small ones) sort of like what I’d expect a warrior to be out of any generic culture where the term “warrior” is used.
Instead I think I have created some sort of cleric or perhaps a combat medic. The only builds which seem to be working involve use of a bow and horn. The build “hambow” seems like it’s aim is to push the enemy away and shoot with the bow for damages rather than enjoying a bloody trade-off face to face.
Either way I’m shouting a lot, placing banners, and in many cases I’m actually doing more at a distance than I am up close.
I’m not even sure what rampage is supposed to do but nobody is using it. Signet of rage is making me run faster and buffing me up- but where is my hack and slash in your face warrior? Why has no one found an optimal build where warrior jumps in and wreaks havoc?
Well, yes right now PVP is like that, that is why I play Axe/Horn/LB, and you could say “is the same ….”.Sadly, LB is quite mandatory since you need it to activate Cleansing Ire, Horn provide a nice support and mobility , and Axe have eviscerate which is, imo, one of the most satisfactory skills in the game, fun, good damage, nice animation, if you can land it of course. Most warriors run pretty much a similar build because is tough out there, you can always try something different like run zeker with GS or something like that, but will be hard. Shoutbow is reliable and comfortable, but boring as hell.
I use Fear Me only in Skyhammer, could be insanely useful and I love fear necros and make they fall. Also, fear me is useful to interrupt finishers , other than that I found Balance Stance more reliable because the long cooldown of Fear Me
Seriously, there not any other decent build right now ? Normally I play Thief and Engi , but I decide to give a shot to the warrior because is one of my favorites and I want to play a little more tanky(Shoutbow), so far is comfortable and reliable but a little repetitive. However, there is literally almost no other build out there, 95% of the time is Shoutbow and the other 5% Hambow. Besides this two build , there any other “viable” right now ?
Axe’s still great just not as good as before the adrenaline nerf and you can still be successful with the Mace condi build, but stick to smaller fights with that. GS/Longbow is also workable but it’s significantly harder than other builds.
And GS/Rifle is still a joke.
I am going to play AxeHorn for a while, is not superior to Shoutbow , but at least is more fun to play, and now I actually can kill some stuff with eviscerate, I throw axe 3 with leg specilist and sometimes that is enough to secure land evicerate, but I feel shouts more reliable than stances.
Another thing that bother me is that you can play good or bad , but I find my efficiency fluctuating according to my team (obvious fact on pvp) but what i mean is that is sometimes hard to secure kills by myself, fight again a necro or another warrior is so long, the longest fights that I never had
What about the “new” Rifle/GS build ?
Seriously, there not any other decent build right now ? sure, cause condition builds use precision (all “on crit” condition applies)
I totally forgot that with the changes on critical damage, silly question . I actually prefer Rabid over Dire, but a bunch of builds are using Dire so making me wonder
(edited by Death Scythe.9738)
I understand why dire could be superior to rabid on condition builds since it barely use precision, but Rabid still viable ?
I don’t got it, why such hate to the thieves, today one guy (necro, after kill me two times with pools and then finally I find the hole to attack ) told me:
“cool hit me with 10000”(if any of you guys know how give this kind of damage in one hit, please tell me)
“2 spam” (people have to understand that if you only spam 2 you never are going to win, and drain you initiative for nothing)
obviously the guy don’t know anything about the class , and just repeat what other people say.
I think that the problem about thieves besides their limitations in some fields where other classes have a easy time, is the learning curve, kill inexperienced players for any class is not a big deal. I finally feel easy kill mesmers, but when you find players that know how react to you , you are basically one mistake away from death, a wrong move put you in a really tough situation and a really tough situation for thieves is pretty much death. However, I saw experinced thieves being the bane of the match and that is the point that i want to accomplish.
Lol how is stealth OP when everybody is spawning aoe. Also, people always complain about something that they don’t know. In my opinion thieves are not OP, but experienced ones could actually be OP lol
I really want show my respect for players who still playing thieves on this games after so many nerfs. I almost delete my level 80 thief and then one of my friends told me that i should give him a chance. I did and I love it but is insane is like play the game in super hard mode out there, the actual meta is really tough for thieves , and after CritD damage got nerf is even worse, maybe i just started to play thief and I have poorly level of experience. When I started to play GW2 thieves was the premium class to play pvp, everybody complained about how OP thieves was, now people treat thieves like free kills. This is ridiculous. Respect for you guys , keep pushing
wvw does make you a better player.
that is true, I started to play seriously WvW a couple of weeks ago and my game improved really quick on pvp and pve, my reactions and my time are better now. I use a bomb/nade build with rabid armor and most of the times thieves fall as flies. I think that my worst enemy are engi with more exp than me , beside that I has killed all the other classes 1 vs 1, I don’t consider myself a good or a pro player , I just play this game for the engi , is my main and when I play with my others guys (warrior, thief, mesmer) I just feel uncomfortable to not have 4 more skill. The engineer is the funniest class to play so far
look pretty cool , but I don’t why most of the coats look short on charr, overall look cool 9/10
there are my two charr warrior and engineer, my engineer have two armor based on different build
