Totally agree with the OP and others that echo his sentiments and facts. And as I love playing dungeons GW2 is simply not for me. Its OK to dabble in for pvp purposes but thats about it.
This game actually taught me to eat my own words and showed me why the Trinity is the concept and mechanic I prefer for my playstyle. The GW 2 concept of each playing their own is like communisim: sounds great on paper but sucks when you actually have to live it. The idea of not having to stand around looking for a tank or healer (and I usually play healers) sounded sexy, innovative and cutting edge. Then I went and did a dungeon. Aggro all over the place, people dying and having to “run back”, mobs with no intelligence at all other than to fixate on some poor fool till their dead. This is hardly what I’d call quality game design. Also let’s not forget a billion Hit Points for trash and boss mobs with poorly written mechanics (other than 2 Billion hit points).
GW2 is a great game, but I’m not playing because when it comes to the aspect of MMOs I love (dungeon running), it fails miserably, imo. Now I’m off to play my healer in another MMO and enjoy my role of caring for my party, protecting our tank and giving support where needed. THAT to me is what an MMO is about.

“No one is stopping you from playing WoW, you know…”
Who said I stopped?
I agree, make difficulty selection like WOW does The King of dungeons game shows us the way. The DEVs at Anet could take a few lessons from their book. I enjoyed Dungeon running in WOW, I have pretty much given up on PVE outside of hearts and DEs in this game.
What Al Zheimer said. Took my first crack at Dungeons in this game and I have already had enough. A Billion hit points do not an encounter make. As I am a big PVE player, GW2 is pretty much dead for me. Panda time I guess…at least in that game the dungeon bosses had some strategies.
Ran my first Dungeon last night, and I am totally turned off of the game right now. I see nothing “difficult” about mobs having a million HP, aggro everywhere and no rewards. To those that enjoy this type of thing that’s good on them, it’s not my style (this is my first crack at Guildwars, never play GW1). Back to the trinity for me, at least I was useful in my Tank or healer role. I’ll just play around with the WvW here since there’s no sub fees.
Hello, level 55 Engee in search of a mature, sociable guild with endgame aspirations. PVE and PVP. Name is Katykaboom. Thanks!
SPOILER Is this quest bugged? I just went in there and the quest would not progress. It says to follow the pale tree but when I speak to it, nothing happens. I finally got to the end of the zone and nothing….
I can agree somewhat with the OP, at least see where he is coming from. I love playing healers, even if it means having fail Deeps yell at me when they stood in the fire. I chose GW2 to play for PRECISELY the reason that there is no trinity. I wanted to see what it was like. I can see it rocking in PVP but PVE? I have yet to do a dungeon so I guess Ill find out. I am perfecting a “healing” trait spec for my Engineer however so I can incorporate that role into my gameplay. The way I see, no one is gonna yell at me for their mistakes anymore! lol!
Hate them, but then I hated Mario Bros and Crash Bandicoot as well. Some are very fustrating. Spent an hour on some crazy, mad ramp jump puzzle last night, finally quit due to fustration and vertigo (I have vertigo in RL and in these games I feel it as well if my character is up too high). Screamed at my computer every time I fell down to the bottom.
Thanks for the tips. I followed the directions in regards to the flags and made it. Tip: After dying several times and breaking all my armour I left the instance and repaired, entered the instance and simply took my amour off. I still fell several times but saved a ton on repairs, my first try using the flag timers was successful.
