Game uninstalled.
I was one of those players that bought gems at the start. I know it doesnt matter, one player leaves another player comes……
whats that I hear “can I have your stuff/gold”
What stuff/gold?
GJ to the development/management team, you are killing what would have been a fairly good game (once all the bugs had been ironed out). Good luck to those of you that stay, I have resubscribed to an older game, its quite refreshing for me to get drops (of absolutely anything) when i complete/kill something, novel idea that one.
Did I get my money’s worth from GW2? I dont know, it was suppose to be an MMO, now its “Run TA/Fractals to earn loot” MMO’s are suppose to be more than one dimensional gaming and i am afraid that this game is extremely one dimensional
Moving on…..
Well guys I am moving on, this game and the developers have taken too many backward steps for me. An MMO is something you invest in (at least in my opinion), you either invest time and get reward, or you invest money (and therefore less time, for the same reward). When I saw that you could buy gold through the transfer system, I was so pleased. It gave me choices, I could play 20 hours one week, and 2 the next, but either through real world transactions or accumulating in-game wealth, I could remain on a par with about 80% of the population.
Accumulating in-game wealth through time spent has now disappeared with the reduced drop rates and DR. Yet prices are rising? Why? Well some people at the start of the game, took advantage of the out of control botting and bought up everything in sight. Now those few have monopolized the market and the funny thing is, they arent players.
The TP system is a gold sellers dream (at least the unofficial one), why has gold price vs gems increased if the economy is being squeezed, it doesnt make sense, or does it? Gold sellers can manipulate the TP, by utilizing the abundance of wealth they made during their botting stage to buyout whole product lines in the TP and manage the price of those items. If they keep the cost of their “unofficial” gold lower than the official transfer system, then they can sell on the black-market. They profit twice, once by selling the gold for real cash, then by receiving the gold back when the buyer of said gold, goes on to buy their overpriced monopolized materials in the TP (creating a trading cycle)
When I first started playing gem/gold transfer was about 60s per 100 gems now you get over 1gp easily, but why? Why when there is nothing in the gem shop to buy?
because Christmas is coming, sorry I dont buy that at all. The amount of gems received for gold is being manipulated by the developer, because they know that gold sellers have monopolised the market and the only way to commbat this is to lower the “real cash price” of gold to that similar to the black-market. Tin foil hat time eh? You need to spend more time in game (or flip trading) to earn the same amount of gems you did at the start or release. Again, no sense, if the drop rates are awful, surely the price of gems should be dropping, as more people trade gems for gold to buy the material they need, the price of gold to gems should go down and not up.
What are people using these gems for, boxing gloves? The current price of gems to gold in the market place would indicate that there was a “unhealthy” amount of gold in-game, i.e. we were all super wealthy, but this is a 16 page thread about us all being poor and tired of farming for nothing/no reward.
So two theories
1. The developers have manipulated the gem to gold transfer price to make it more appealing to transfer real money into in-game currency or
2. Less people are buying gems (meaning there is a shortage) and people really want those gems (traders speculating on winters day events no doubt (after the Halloween chest debacle))
Either way it doesn’t matter. We bought the box, we played the game. But most importantly we bought the box, on a no-sub game, that’s where the developer was going to make the most money. Each “expansion” will be released with a big “hoo-ha”, we will buy it because drop rates will have increased in the month or so before it, and then after purchase, drop rates will be nerfed again, because the box has been bought.
The gold price doesnt make sense in the current economy of GW2, unless the developers are aware of the TP being manipulated by third party companies, nerfing drop rates is a pain, but what they may be trying to do is to take away the source of large amounts of currency by reducing the amount of items for sale on the TP (but this will take a very long time), so that they, the developer, can regain control.
The rampaging bots that occurred in this game at the start, will have repercussions on the economy for the next 6 months, we are being asked (without it being made explicit) for us to “suck-up” these painful low drop rates and DR for a while, whilst the developer gets things back on track and “normalizes” the economy. You will see nothing official, no developer will post in this thread, but the truth is, I haven’t met one single player in the game, that claims to be abundantly wealthy, yet people are “giving” gold away at 50% lower prices (according to the gem market), why is that?
Please note, you are entitled to disagree with me, I hope you do, and I hope you don’t see what I seem to see, I just can’t make sense of an economy which now requires more of one resource (gold) to buy the things you need because those resources are diminishing and yet the price of the one primary resource (gold), is getting lower……….. If you can explain this to me, please do
wintersday is coming and as seen on their event notification page it looks like something will happen in januari aswell. just wat and see what they got for us. Anet does listen it just takes time for them to “fix” things.
for anybody else complaining: i do realize it is no fun and do realize it will “drive” a certain amount of people away (good ridance if you ask me) but if any of you people can do it beter then anet: be my guest and make such a great team and great game as Anet team did and make your own game very fast.
I agree with you, but the problem is, there is SO MUCH to fix, and each bug, each disappointed customer, is a leaving customer. I support your right to defend a company, I really do. But supporting broken class systems, dungeon systems, loot mechanics etc. etc. Is foolhardy, other people did that with other AAA MMOs and well, they aren’t doing great at the moment………
I am sorry but from a brief perusal of these forums it seems that something/s are not right in Tyria and the deafening silence is doing nothing to allay these fears.
Bug Fixes – Cause more bugs
Loot Drops – Nerfed to the point of “Why bother”
New area – Opened nearly a month ago – Still virtually dead
Diminishing returns – Judging by the forums 80% of the playing population disgusted
Gem Store – Nothing worth buying really (1 Skin for each armour type!)
WvWvW – Tumbleweed time
Dungeons – Broken mechanics
Ascended Items – Disliked by some, reading through the forums, major source of “I quit”
What will happen with this game is firmly in the hands of the developers, but artificially stymying progression through nerfs and poor bug fix patches is not the way forward.
I liked this game, now, I think “its free (after initial purchase), might as well have a play”, but this wont have me visiting the Gem Store and giving the developers more money. First fix that which was broken, second, put something in the Gem Store worth buying. Problem; reputation and “good will” is lessening meaning that if anything worthwhile does come out on the Gem Store, people will think twice
To the developers:
YOU CAN nerf
- Karma farming
- Dungeon farming
- Materials (Crafting) farming
- Gold farming
But WHY WOULD YOU alienate 4 different playing groups? How is this going to be GOOD for the game? In the manifesto we were sold on the “Play the game YOUR way”, well some people like to
- Run public events all day
- Run dungeons all day
- Farm for crafting materials all day
- Farm and trade (look at my bank balance!) all day
Now the following is happening
Run FoTM – And now I am seeing a drop off on that on the server I play on)
Creating 1 Dimensional gaming in an MMO is suicide
Aside from the TP, have there been any updates since November 15th? Server resets, maintenance?
There appear to be a ton of bugs, and other things wrong but very little coming back from anet on this?
Maybe I am wrong, but my game hasn’t updated for a long time
80 elementalist – 329 hours, 500 (exactly) deaths
Globs of Ecto now up and over 37 silver each
Vial of Potent blood over 28 silver a pop.
……..
This game is becoming unplayable, want to farm for a level 80 armour set… you cant, nothing drops
Buy the materials on the TP instead?
30 Ectos (in tailoring at least)
30 Tier 6 (again tailoring)
That’s 20 gold before the other materials (which I admit can be discovered a little easier).
Game rolling down the no loot slide
The amount of people that will gender change without being able to change their name must be tiny, unless of course they picked generic names, like “Deathdealer”, “Firestarter” etc….
Cant see this being a major source of revenue (coming soon to a TP near you “Name Change Document”, all for an additional 500 Gems (+ whatever it costs for a makeover pack, see what I did there, doubled my revenue for 1 activity (A total character appearance change, woot at me))
I use a chest piece that is crafted for the early 20 levels, but that is full exotics with one of 6 superior runes of earth in……
Sorry, this post makes no sense, “You have memorised all the armour sets and therefore know I am undergeared”…..
No you dont, sorry, you just dont, Transmutation stones have nullified your extensive knowledge of armour skins, oh well….
Hi everyone,
Just to let you know, we are aware of the existance of this thread and the conflict it creates with the other thread. We are gathering feedback on both (and currently, this one seems to be ahead) so we can roll out the possibility of it simply being some good or bad luck with drops.
Please keep the feedback flowing in, and rest assured that we do forward this issues to the team.
Thanks for your understanding and your cooperation
“Roll out the possibility of it simply being some good or bad luck with drops”
Seriously? The game is not some mystical creation, it is a coded piece of software, the loot tables are coded, the content managers/developers know exactly what the loot parameters are.
“Possibility” – surely you KNOW what is happening within the game, it hasn’t taken on some advanced form of artificial intelligence and is now "manufacturing loot percentages on the fly?
What an absolutely ridiculous statement, demeaning to anyone that plays this game. Implying that you (ANET) are not aware that there is a bug (or maladjustment) to loot drops is incredible. Tell you what, go in Map chat in high level zones, and 50% of the messages being pinged are about “Why isn’t any loot dropping”, hell, I did Arah yesterday, and nothing dropped for the first 3 phases (The story part where you have to collect the orbs), nothing at all.
Reality – It now costs £100+ in gems to craft the ascended backpack – Go figure
I find the moderators statement quite insulting and referencing a thread with five (Yes 5) posts saying “Wow loot drops are great” against a 7 or 8 page thread saying “er guys, somethings bugged with the loot” is the icing on the cake.
“Veterans and Champions now drop something” – No they dont, period, no discussion, no debate, 80% of Champions and Veterans drop zero, nada, zilch or nothing.
Not buying gems ANET, I am not going to buys gems just so I can craft armour for WvW, because thats pay to win and YOU PROMISED in your MANIFESTO that there would be NO PAY TO WIN.
The prices will only increase more players reach higher level fractals, and NEED ascended gear to progress, but who is doing all the farming for the raw materials?
The guys on here (the farmer guys), I sympathise with, why should they go out and blast 4-8 hours and get nothing. Hell, when I farm now, the mats go straight into my bank, who knows what ridiculous parameters they will put on the next set (Yes I know they said they wouldn’t but…….)
250 Vicious Fangs 62g
50 Ectos 18g 32s
+ 250 Ectos 93g
= 183g (Current market Prices)
100 Gems Trade for 1.24g
You are talking over £100 in gem purchases for ONE item
To be honest I would prefer a monthly subscription (normally between £7 and £10) and “normal” drop percentages
Edited – maths was a bit wrong, but in general, point still stands, 10 months of subscription fees for a “normal loot percentage” (Hell in 10 months I should be able to get the Rarest of rare drops in ANY OTHER MMO)
(edited by DevonPaul.7495)
Yes I am playing less, reasons;
1. Loot, doesn’t appear to be any. Being level 80, completed personal story, would like to set myself in a zone and plough away, day after day, to earn the gold for mats (or get the crafting materials myself) to explore new armour/rune combinations, but extremely poor loot percentages, just leave me (and my bags) empty
2. Have ascended gear (three rings) and back piece (cheapest book to make (Ancient Bone one)). Fractals have become a bore, and as I mainly Pug, the hangout of rude and offensive people, level 15 Frac Runner now, probably go to 20 and stop (maybe, I haven’t done one for a few days)
3. Poor quality level 80 zones, nothing interesting about them, Mobs are annoying, not difficult (Knock down, knock down, knock down, it just makes me go meh.)
4. Crafted 4 professions up to 400, now the price of materials has sky rocketed, it seems a waste to get 400 leatherworking (I am an elementalist), just for a few achievement points and the cost of many gold pieces
5. Tried to work on some Alts, but with 100% map completion on my main, all Jumpy jumpy things done etc…. It feels like a chore (personal opinion, I am sure some find it interesting)
6. I can only find one giant for that slayer achievement (if anyone knows of anymore, I would be grateful)
7. Achievement “farming” is now blocked due to so many players in Fractals.
there are many other reasons, but I just don’t feel I am progressing (No loot, no gold, a penniless hero, woop). To expensive to progress crafting. I have done some WvW (even swapped to a server that was getting owned, just to be the underdog), mindless zerg dominated by 1 or 2 classes
The new area appears to have ZERO story line……. Sorry I missed the event, my fault, I guess, playing a persistent online world, should have a place in my diary and make me choose between real life and “entertainment”
At the moment my main is parked outside a dungeon, which I will run everytime I go on (and find a group), until I have the full armour set and then I will move on to the next one – Thats my plan for the next month or so, if I can’t find a group in 30 minutes or so, will log off for the day
One hour in Fractals – Bag full of goodies (maybe some rare)
One hour in Orr – Bones……….. One or two goodiesGo figure….
as for people getting bored with fractals when they have all the gear…. Not going for the gear, going for the drops, which are at least 50% higher (although kitten knows if I have ever proof, tell you what, do 1 hour of fractals, and put all those things to one side, and then do one hour of open map grinding…….)
And to be honest, every fractal is easier than crossing Orr these days
Too bad this thread has nothing to do with drops. It is about the lack of players pretty much everywhere in this game.
I love this game but every time i try to get on and play something i can never get a group for anything. Everywhere i go is completely dead. Have only been able to do story mode for 2 dungeons and haven’t been able to get a group for fractal and can’t find groups for anything else either. Sat in la for a good 2 hours trying to find a group for any dungeon and went to each dungeon entrance and didn’t see a single person sitting outside them. Something needs to be done about this, i don’t care if they piss off half the game’s population to do it.
You are right, but the OP asked why no one was in the world pve areas and the simple answer is LOOT. If I could get the same loot running around Orr or Frostgorge Sound, I would be out there, doing those Dynamic Events, filling up the world, but I play this game to enjoy myself, and being the only person being pulled from pillar to pst by bad mob mechanics in Orr, watching the other “lone gunman” trailing 4 mobs into me and running of, leaving me with busted armour.
The world zones are dead, because there is no incentive (money, loot etc…) to be there. Hell I can earn just as much Karma in a lower zone, repeating mindlessly simple events over and over again, why make it difficult for myself?
Strange also that new items come out requiring 250 Tier 6 Mats to craft (which were hard to find originally), prices rise and…..
…people buy gems trade for gold………
And THEN the outpour of"Say it isn’t true", this was a test to see how much the player base wold suck it up and use real money.
You cannot tell me that ANET did not know that requiring 250 tier 6 mats for a back item with agony resist wouldn’t cause the price of those tier 6 mats to skyrocket (not to mention ectos), meaning that the “Must have nows” would fork out a small fortune on gems to buy gold to buy mats to get the gear. This has “collided” at the same time as a loot drop “bug” has occurred, really people, you are falling for this.
They are just dipping their toe in the water. ANET are directly influencing the cost of materials
1. By decreasing the flow of them
2. Adding to the requirements for them (if you are one of the “Must have nows”
You think this “bug” will get fixed? Balance that against how many gems have been converted into gold recently
See post about loot drops (above your one)
One hour in Fractals – Bag full of goodies (maybe some rare)
One hour in Orr – Bones……….. One or two goodies
One Hour in No Drop Shore – Crab meat
Go figure….
This game is becoming one dimensional, the accumulation of money revolves around fractals now (or trading on the TP, click, new price, click, buy order, click…….. click…..click)
Crafter – DO Fractals (Sell loot, buy mats)
WvW (for a 1% stat increase) – DO Fractals
Personal Story – Ends in a dungeon YOU NO LONGER HAVE ACCESS TO (Do Fractals)
Just like killing mobs for shinies – DO Fractals
Want the latest gear- DO Fractals
World drops have died (said they guy that got a gold medal for killing a dragon and ended up with 2 blue items and a gem stone! yay me)
I am overpowered? As an elementalist I think not, trying playing one, I have just been in a group, farming grawl in the Frostorge, and the thief in that part had each mob down to 30% before I could get my lightning whip out.
Sorry OP wrong just wrong
One hour in Fractals – Bag full of goodies (maybe some rare)
One hour in Orr – Bones……….. One or two goodies
Go figure….
as for people getting bored with fractals when they have all the gear…. Not going for the gear, going for the drops, which are at least 50% higher (although kitten knows if I have ever proof, tell you what, do 1 hour of fractals, and put all those things to one side, and then do one hour of open map grinding…….)

Ok firstly is “farming” not a legitimate form of game play?
Saying farmers are “not real people” is a tad ridiculous….. They just play different from you, and that makes them….. wrong? Sorry I can lend you a ladder to get over yourself if you like…….
I like farming, if I spend more than 1hr trying to get a group for a dungeon run, I go off and farm, why not, what else should I do, try to recapture the temples in Orr on my own?
Secondly – economics………
It was not farmers that created the problem on the TP, how do I know this? Simple really, its the trader that makes the money (through speculation) not the grower (ask any REAL farmer)
SO you have say 10 guys farming away, collecting stuff, random stuff, bags get full, what do they do, TP from the comfort of their farming zone, what price do they sell at? The next best one, they are farming remember, a repeating task, they don’t care about 1 silver here or there, its not important, they will be farming for hours, the price fluctuation can either be favourable or unfavourable, take the second highest price you can get and carry on farming.
Why the second highest price
Traders – Traders put 1 item up for a lower price, hoping that a player wishing to sell his goods will see the "lowest price on TP " set his the same and carry on, the trader then buys them up, and sticks them back on the TP 2 or 3 silver higher (or where the MOST amount of that item sits at).
Farmers are providing goods at a price, because they have spent hours repeating the same task over and over again, traders are sat with the TP screen open looking at price fluctuations and taking a risk……
I don’t have a problem with either player, they are player the game a) as a grinder or b) as a economic challenge style game.
Their choice
Now back to the DR, if the above situation I have outlined is true (and it is, look at all those low priced tier 6 mats where there is only 1 available at that price and you will begin to understand).
How does removing the DR negatively impact the economy? If there are more items up for grabs, the traders margin is reduced, if their is very little profit in trading, less people will do it, the less that speculate on price hikes, the lower the price of materials.
Secondly if the DR is reduced, people will just go and farm their own mats, meaning that the trader loses out again, firstly on stock, secondly on customers (except those that wish to buy mats for an alt etc. etc._ This will reduce the price of materials again, (making farming less viable for gold, and more viable for crafting your own kit (as an aside)) win/win (in terms of reducing the amount of gold in the game)
Problem – Precursors, if I got a precursor now, and sold it for the stupendously large amount of gold required to buy one from the TP, I would become a trader, with current Tier 6 drops and ectos, I could double my money within a week if not less, by cornering the marker.
When there are LOW amounts of drops, it allows a few select traders to CORNER a market (supply and demand), if the DR is taken away, their power to control that market diminishes.
Soo if you want the DR to remain purely because you think the economy will go AWOL, you are misguided. The ONLY players that should want DR to remain are traders.
My post is not a judgement on any play style, all are valid in my opinion, this is a game, played by thousands of people, with thousands of likes and dislikes.
Keep the DR – Fine, when I get a precursor (and I will, its just time at the end of the day), I will become a trader
Get rid of the DR – Fine, I can make different armour sets, specific for different things (solo, PVE, Dungeons, WvW and fractals)
The second one for me, allows me to play different aspects of the game instantly, the first one requires that I spend a month or so, going for the precursor, trading on the market, building those sets and then off back into “playing” the game.
In my opinion, removing the DR will allow more play styles but that’s because, gear is starting to limit what people can do, which is a shame
Or perhaps you could be a little less aggressive?
One user attacked me for wanting “free stuff”
Another corrected my grammar and was wholly wrong
And you say I am being dishonest?
Should I not try and defend myself, the first post has ALL the details relevant to the conversation I started, other users took it down a tangent, where I had to elaborate
For the OP, I found this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Change-in-loot-parameters-or-a-bug-Merged
But again, I wouldn’t put any stock into it. A casual search of some of the big fan sites reveal no such complaints or similar threads. They might be there. I’d appreciate a link.
But yeah. I’m not so quick to take this on the word of our official forum visitors alone.
From the Reddit AMA with the developers last night:
“Not trying to spam this, but this topic hasn’t been discussed at all. Would very much appreciate ANY input on it, thank you.
Magic find and just drops in general (with or without MF gear) seems to have been greatly altered to a minimum. Also, in the most recent patch it was noted that Veterans/Champions should always drop something at least, irregardless of what quality. Is the system working as you intended since the update or are there most definitely problems with it as it stands? Also, if it is ‘working as planned’ why the huge change in drops? Coupled with diminishing rewards it is hard to farm legitly and almost points the player to the Cash Shop instead of relying on self-reliance. Thanks in advance!

Hi Sin,
So yep you are right this is the question i have been likely dodging the most? The reason being is that it requires investigation. Vet and Champs should give good loot and there are a number of reports on perceived decrease in the frequency of drops. I will be discussing this in depth with the Production and Design team tomorrow and we will hopefully have more info soon.
Chris"
Today I run fractals from 12-15. I then did some real work. I zoned into Frostgorge Sound, beat down 50+ Colossus and gain 4 items (as detailed above), please note in my OP I asked whether this could be a bug.
Instead what I received was vitriol, spelling and grammar corrections (which proved to be incorrect) and a few forum posters have decided I am a cry baby that wants free everything…….
Learn to read OP, then flame me…..
I find it hard to believe that after killing 50+ level 80 mobs you only got four item drops out of it. You’re hard to follow.
You say four item drops now, but earlier you say four rare crafting material drops.
There’s a big difference there and I get the idea you’re being dishonest when you change your story like that.
If you mean you only got four rare/exotic item drops, that’s pretty standard fare, even fairly good without any MF.
If that’s your story, you really should be more specific when you post.
I wouldn’t mind personally if the drop rate for that stuff were a little better on the whole, especially the stuff needed for less then 80 crafts.
But for your part, you’re very defensive with folks who are just trying to help you out.
Ok so you STILL haven’t read my initial post:
I try to focus on two or three enemies types (grawl, colossus and skelks) as these drop the required items I need for crafting. Now upon zoning in to the area, I take on roughly 50 Colossus (s?) and get 4 drops, of anything (two of junk shards). Now is this a bug, working as intended or am I just plain unlucky?
At what point did I say 4 Rare Crafting materials? At what point did I say Blue or green (or above items), later on in one of my posts, I detail exactly what it was that dropped, but in my INITIAL post I said "4 drops of “anything” (Two of junk shards – in this case Ice chards, remember I am fighting Colossus)…..
But call me a liar, its so much easier than reading the OP, I didn’t “change my story” as you put in another post, you failed to read the OP and responded to other users comments. Its ok, you LIKE the drop rates the way they are, I don’t. SO I will go back to farming fractals to earn the yellos, to salavge the globs to buy the materials required, afterall I have +20 agony resist, they are a breeze.
But that is 1 dimensional gaming, the fact that you don’t see that is ok, I am ok with that. You are entitled to your opinion, but base your opinion on the OP

Hmmm Neither of you have read my post, I am in full exotics with three ascended items (including backpiece, now infused), do you think I am the kind of player that expects uber power to rain upon me?
No I am the kind of player that after killing 50+ level 80 mobs, expects more than 4 items to have dropped, you both appear to be the kind of players that don’t mind that. See the thread about MF being broken since the last patch btw. Until I see a confirmed, MF = This % chance of getting ANYTHING to drop and how MF affects RNG (and whether or not it has been fixed), why would I invest in it?
Yess my thoughts
You can also gain ascended items through the mystic forge, much like a legendary precursor….
There is a set recipe…..
250 Tier 6 Craft Items
50 Globs of Ecto
40 Crystals
an Essence (a pink one)
this gets you +5 agony resist
To infuse the item you will need a further 250 ectos
So you need 300 Ectos (between 200 and 300 rare or exotic drop salvages, depending on your luck)
And 250 rare (uber rare) tier 6 craft items
But apparently, this may change as well……….
Hi Jski,
I am actually not massively disappointed with mobs not confetti scattering tier 6 crafting items, I am actually very disappointed that level 80’s don’t seem to drop anything at all (including junk), at least by selling junk I can buy mats, now the only consistent, reliable way to get enough gold to purchase the necessary materials, is to buy Gems and convert or run fracs, salvage yellows and sell globs (or blobs, whatever)
I really don’t much care about Ascended stuff, I have mine (yah boo) for now, and whilst its nice and all, I haven’t grown a third testes or anything………
However there is a somewhat strange message coming out from ANET quarters. "We will make “Other” ways of getting ascended items" -
This is fine and good, I don’t begrudge the time/money I spent to get mine, I enjoyed “playing” the game. Surely however the easiest way to get Ascended items (perception here not actual) will become the ONLY way to get Ascended items. If players can get them AFK’ing in WvW or PVP then they will (Welfare…… the shudder associated with that word).
If they become a Karma Item, people will Plinx there way to it. Whatever becomes the easiest way, will become the ONLY way, sorry its human nature (Ask Henry Ford, well you can’t but read his book)
Speculating that people do not want the “New Uber Gear” (even if it isnt that uber) because they don’t “need” it to do the content they are regularly doing is naive and does not take into account human nature.
As someone quite rightly pointed out to me in another thread, all current world dungeons can be done in Green items, yet strangely, groups ask for exotics……. Thats the way MMO works, ignore this at your peril I am afraid ANET
Sorry CETheLucid, but by that Logic I might as well stay in my starting gear……..
Characters progress, yes all dungeons can be done in Green (until a gearscore mentality kicks in….. and it WILL) but I might as well stay level 76 (that was when I completed World Explorer)….
The reason why high-end things are in the game is something for players to aim for, the reason why 60-80% of mobs killed dont drop anything, is just dull and uniteresting
Acidic I sincerely hope you are right, but unfortunately I think you will not be, reasons
1 Less people playing (partly because of certain new mechanics, partly due to shine has gone)
2. Already the new content is starting to look like a high +toughness +vitality requirement, meaning people running those events (quite a large number now, should tail of) will mostly require the same tier 6 ingredient
3. People flipping are already running low on tier 6 materials (at least on the server I play on), the bot excess is being used up.
4. People wanting specific armour sets will slowly farm them, get what they need, craft their armour and stop. Maybe Ancient bones will remain high, tier 6 blood also (because of karka?) but the rest will lessen over time
Just thoughts……
I see I am in the minority then, you all happy with 4 items from 50 mobs, that’s ok, play the game.
Peace, coming soon to a theatre near you………
But you corrected me, as an American, talking to an Englishman or did you just assume that YOU were right, when in fact, if you came over to the UK and sat an English exam (England, English exam, pattern?) and spelled the word theatre as theater you would lose a mark, on the other hand if I was in an English exam in America and spelled the word Theatre, theatre, rather than theater, I would not lose a mark.
You brought up the petty spelling squabble, not me
Missed point 9 on the definition did you? There is NO SUCH WORD in the OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY as Theater….
Wow just wow
Picks up mic, normal service is now resumed, the spelling bee is over

Nice, well done for editing out the bit where you said I couldn’t spell. As for those other activities you suggested, that’s fine an all. The problem is, what if EVERYONE does that, how many Tier 6 Crafting items do you think will appear on the TP?
If everyone runs the dungeons, does the world events etc etc. You will still see a drop in tier 6 crafting items for sale on the TP, as such, the price will go up, as such you will have to grind more dungeons etc etc. to gain the money to purchase the tier 6 crafting items at their new (rare) high price.
It was good killing the bots, but the problem is, bots farm all the time and create a massive amount of crafting materials on the TP, players don’t farm 24hrs, so enough with the DR already. Or wait….. See what the TP looks like in a month or two, when the population has dminished, when EVERYONE is playing the way you suggest, their will be ample rare and exotic items, but very few crafting materials (save blobs (or globs) of Ecto.
Meh…. You have the armour you want and need, thats great, New players can go hang
In ENGLISH we say theatre, In AMERICAN english you say theater, not to be too funny about it, but I go by the Oxford English Dictionary, as it is kind of our language, you know
I have completed the world, I have done every single event in the world, shall I go back and do them again? What would be the point in that?
There is one dungeon i would like to complete max out on, but the door is bugged.
OK just to let you ALL know, I have the ascended backpiece, I have two Ascended Rings (I am running currently level 15 Fractals).
My point was in open world play, there are little to no drops (of anything at all) from MOBs, as such I just return to the fractals and my game has become 1 dimensional. I would like a new set of armour, I am slowly earning the money (gathering the mats) to make this new set of armour.
I HAVE NO PROBLEM DOING THAT.
What I have an issue with is, I shouldnt kill 50+ level 80 mobs in the open world and get only 4 drops (of any kind (in fact 1 blue item, two grey items and a tier 5 crafting mat).
Sheesh, way to miss the point you guys
Acidic – A theatre is where a group of Actors (Players if you will), play out the same scenes over and over again to ultimately the end result……..
By you logic on dungeon running and gold gathering, if all players turn to doing this, where will the materials come from for me to buy on the TP, Dredge Loot bags?
For a game to have a healthy economy it has to have many different sorts of players with different playstyles, if we all play the same way the TP will dry up to some extent, making those tier 6 materials even more rare and yes you guessed it, even more expensive to aquire.
I was sold this game on the manifesto of “Play the game your way”, now I am being told to play it the NEW™ way, even getting 30 tier 6 materials (usually required for an exotic set of armour) has now become a grind.
I am asking a simple question, is the drop rate of ANYTHING in the game likely to remain stationary, as it stands, there are very few people in the 75-80 zones, most of the Tier 6 items on the TP must be coming from dredge bags (Complete guess, but who knows)
I dont recall asking for free stuff, but after killing 50+ level 80 mobs and only have 4 inventory slots filled in my loot bags, one reaches the point of boredom, risk versus reward is just not there, sorry. You maybe uber hardcore (judging from your signature), but most people have jobs/lives etc. There the guys that buy the gems that keep your game going, so try to refrain from speaking ill of them
Thank you Genesis, How will I get a magic find set? Craft it?……..
Or run Fractals with other people in MF sets (oh how quickly they die past level 10)
Firstly this is not a complaint thread, its a question and maybe perhaps a suggestion and well, I just wanted to know how you guys out there are dealing with this, maybe its a bug (hopefully I wont have written an infraction).
Drop rates of anything appear to be very poor, when I am not running in fractals (at least a source of good drops although starting to wear a little thin as I have now reached level 15 in that theatre), I go to Frostgorge Sound, a pleasant little map that I enjoy.
I only ask because recently new content (fractals et al) have appeared on the scene with a new mechanic (Agony), and there are recipes that require 250 Tier 6 items to make to combat this new mechanic, how are we suppose to get them? Buy them? I have seen the price of them on the TP and to be frank, I am not paying it, ever, why? well the reason is, even if I couldnt get my craft materials to drop, some drops at level 80 would help, so that I could sell them to make the gold to purchase from the TP. But if nothing, at all drops then, I am at an impasse.
Unless I am suppose to trade gems for gold? I am sure ANET would not have purposefully introduce a game mechanic that would promote the purchase of gems to trade for gold, and to be honest, if I was going to buy gold at the required sums to purchase the materials needed for crafting, it would be more cost effective to use a third party (not that I condone this practice, at all! Its just logical).
So Logic (the title thread, keep up!).
A new mechanic is introduced, to gain the resistance to said mechanic, apart from the rings (which I have been fortunate enough to receive), there is the back piece (yes I know we can get one through the Fractals themselves) that gives +5 Agony resist, it requires 250 parts of a tier 6 trade item, but I (and I don’t know about you guys) can’t get them to drop.
I am sorry ANET but it just looks like a “Buy Gems, Swap for Gold Mechanic”, and I don’t mean to cause offence, maybe its a bug in the drop rates
I apologise if this appears a little whingy but if there is one thing STOPPING me from investing (i.e. buying Gems) in this game it is most certainly the drop rates of anything at all.
I dont mind new content, I dont mind setting myself up in an area and repeating the sake thing verbatim, but when I cant even fill my 15 slot bags after 2 hours of game play, seems pretty poor to me
They are silent because they stand at a crossroads in a business sense. They have two choices, both will be unpopular, the question is, which one is MOST unpopular.
They have changed the rules, and whether it (Ascended) is game breaking (in mechanics not theory) is now no longer important. Poor communication has led to misinformation and for some of the player base, a negative opinion of new content.
For some (progressivists lets call them) this is a good thing for others (Confused lets call them) it “appears” to go against the manifesto and other things, whether it is/or does is now inconssequential
ANET stand at a crossroads, trust me on this, and I am guessing that there are some pretty big meetings taking place.
Personal opinion, I dont mind gated content, I can take it or leave it, I just dont like buggy games, and this game, is buggy. If I want to “ascend” I may, I may not, it wont “break” the game for me (I respect those of you that are unhappy, I feel you have a right after reading the manifesto, but then I am one of the confused).
ANET and their new paymasters have to make a decision and be HONEST about it, let those that wish to leave (depending on which choice they make) leave, they deserve the courtesy of the truth, if nothing else
He/she said, making a new topic about the new dungeon, Irony 101
+1 from me, the state of the game is currently unacceptable for those that have paid. This is NOT what was advertised, it is buggy as termite city and there is zero being said about it other than “we have your money and your ideas, we are going to keep one of those things and discard the other, can you guess which one is which?”
