Don’t mind it myself. I imagine it’s to make the story more of the focus than the achievements.
This chapter was loaded to the brim with lore, answering many unanswered questions. I honestly like this model. Keeps things more emmersive than following a checklist guide ever would.
I agree with you that last season was very much checklist guided, but they can still have the story guided approach like they did this time but with the achievements unlocked.
I agree. I think, if it’s possible, that the achievements should be hidden until you complete the content. This way, if you really, really want to grab achievements on the first run, you can google it or whatnot, but it doesn’t feel like you’re being forced to do them.
I agree, I think this is the best approach. It prevents the story from being spoiled due to the descriptor text while not requiring multiple run throughs. This is how some achievements are done on xbox and it works well.
I like how you use the word “force” but how does it apply?
I I forgot the hidden clause in the ToS that requires players to hunt achievements in order to progress through all and any content provided….o wait
‘Forced’ is used in context, and you know it. The problem is with the very limited number of characters that can be used in the subject. But thanks for replying and adding to the conversation.
I really like the setup, but I only have one complaint:
I don’t like the fact that the achievements were locked until we completed the entire story. For example, none of the Seraph workers died the first time I did Disturbance in Brisban . . . I shouldn’t have to do it again just to get the achievement.
I honestly don’t know how you thought this was a good idea. This goes completely against industry standards and it seems like a cheap way to force replayability. Please don’t do this again.
I’ll let others talk about ascended, but I want to talk about progression of appearance.
I want to collect skins, I really do. I want to buy skins from the gem store for 800 gems whenever they are released, but I never do. Why? Because I have T3 armor and if I want to keep it, I have to constantly buy transmute stones whenever I want to change my looks. As a result, I am buying neither stones nor the skins.
Please release a skin locker like the achievement skins that can be used over and over again. Make us unlock slots with gems if needed, but I guarantee more people will care about armor skins if we had a better system in place.
Nope, by the beginning of season 2 we will have the edge of the mist, so there will be no queues
There will still be queues to get into the normal maps. The edge of the mist will a nice way to fill your time, but will people want to play there the entire time if they aren’t helping their server achieve a season victory?
And say you did want to get into a BL, your guild’s queue will be popping one at a time, so it will still take several hours to get a full force into the normal zones.
I think they should just get rid of charging for transfers completely. I think they’d make a lot more money if they just introduced piles of new skins and other goodies that would beef up the WvW experience itself.
Let people transfer as much as they want, where they want until they find the server they feel the most comfortable with.
It was like that for several months until they had guesting in place. It just destroyed the ranking system because guilds were hopping servers so kitten much. It also did/would cause many guilds to bandwaggon to the top servers instead of achieving the desired effect of balancing the population.
I understand and I think Anet should look into offering this to the T1 servers because the population is extremely top heavy. It would be good for the T1 servers too because with the new matchup system, BG/SoR/JQ will be playing each other 95% of the time, which will get very stale very quickly.
1. 100% disagree and the facts aren’t on your side. They didn’t always drop bags and the zerging was the exact same.
2. Yes, that would be amazing if done right. It would actually discourage zergs because if they were harder and took longer with more people, they wouldn’t want a massive amount of people.
3. I completely agree. I think defense is a major problem and I think there are a couple of good ways to allow for a better defense. Treat it similar Planetside. A waypoint exists in every tower/keep, but there is a cooldown on how often you can use that specific waypoint (like 10 minutes).
4. Yeah, I think the ticking needs to go because it turns the game into coverage wars.
So for those of us in T1, we saw MASSIVE queues during the season and I don’t expect season 2 would be much different. So if Anet offered a free transfer to a lower population server to help balance to the load, would you take it?
I disagree. They obviously supplemented the mechanic by giving them terrible health pools. It isn’t that bad since it is a very limited number of mob types that have to be finished.
Yes, something needs to be done. I would love to collect skins, but I am extremely hesitant in doing so because of the continual cost to change my appearance. If they acted like the achievement system, I would be buying gem store skins left and right.
This is a change that really needs to be made if they want people to buy skins.
I figured I wasn’t the first to ask for it but the search must not be that great. It’s kind of weird that this wouldn’t be towards the top of their priority list because this would be revenue generating.
I searched the forum and nothing popped up on this, but has there been anything said about a skin locker similar to what sPvP has? I would spend so much more on gem store purchases if there was a skin locker. I feel that there is a real missed opportunity here.
Why can’t we use the Infinite Watchknight Tonic in WvW? The ghostly tonics are usable so why not this? Was it intentional or an oversight?
(WvW perspective)
Right now, I feel very bottlenecked to use the staff and the focus has almost no use and this last patch made it even more so with all of the buffs to staff.
I would LOVE to see some real variety of gameplay by making the focus a viable option for support, but it simply isn’t the case. In all other attunements, personal defense is the focus of the focus (lol) but that isn’t the case for water. Why?
All abilities of the focus should be healing/defense and it should be AOE, and not just for the elementalist.
Flamewall – grant might to allies that run through it.
Fire Shield – AOE to 5 or 6 allies
Freezing Gust – add small regeneration to nearby allies
Comet – make this ground target and add aoe burst heal to those nearby.
Swirling winds – keep the same
Gale – keep the same
Magnetic Wave – AOE to 5 or 6 allies
Obsidian Flesh – AOE to 5 or 6 allies
Do all of those and the focus will very viable in many situations.
And out of combat weapon swap would be swell as well.
As an elementalist, I can tell you that this would be OP as hell. Maybe allow us to swap out of combat, but in combat swapping would be way too powerful.
Problem: It is a pain to have to keep an eye on your food and potion buffs and constantly reapply them. EQ2 has a very nice system to handle this.
There should be two extra slots on the Hero page that you can drop stacks of Food and Potions into. When there are stacks of items in these slots, the system would automatically consume them to provide the respective buffs.
IE: you drop of a stack (25) of meatballs in to the food slot. The game immediately consumes 1 so you now have a stack of 24 and the meatball buff. 30 minutes later, the meatball buff expires and the system automatically consumes another one, leaving 23 meatballs.
To stop the auto consume, simply move the stack back into your inventory.
Wow I can’t wait until BG gets bumped to Tier 2. This constant 2v1 crying is so childish and uncalled for. There is no alliance and there is no intentional 2v1 going on. Hell, in JQ boarderlands yesterday, we held a tower and it was getting attacked by JQ and BG at the same time. And no one was calling 2v1 . . . it just happens.
Beastgate . . . lol. It’s more like Excusegate or Whinegate.
So I am having real bad lag spikes and it doesn’t seem to be happening to a lot of people. I was really surprised to not see a bunch of posts about it on the forums.
I am running along in an area just fine and then I engage in combat and my abilities just start flashing. I can run around just fine, but everything else in the world is frozen. 20+ seconds later, everything all happens at once and I often find myself dead.
This is leading to a lot of failed events and deaths. Are other people having this issue?
