As someone mentioned earlier, the pulsating stability just makes it worse.

You were getting hit by 3 people….. you were probably going to die even if the lich wasn’t hitting you, but if you didn’t know there is an easy way to deal with lich. Run under the lich and make sure you stay just slightly behind and under the lich. Only thing he can hit you with is marks.

On a side not just be glad you never played agaisnt the old power necro with ctd,cod, air sigil, fire sigil, air rune. If everything procced you were dead. No matter what.

Yes, I was going to die no matter what. I was at tranquility when they all came down. Either way, 15k damage in… 3 bleed tic? I play mesmer and none of my elites do any damage at all.

Being a duel, I believe he’s the type of thief that hit and run till he heals… I use a not so common signet interrupt build, I’ve beaten a few thieves with it and managed to keep 75%+ health. Hit me up and we’ll see what we can do

Hey guys, this is something I’ve been playing on for a while on sPvP. As of now it seems ok to me, even though it has its weakness (lack of condi removal and boon strip) but in general I’ve been enjoying it. I know there’s room for improvement so that’s why I’m sharing it here.

The build is pretty flexible, I personally prefer staff over GS because I see higher surviveability with it, but with GS you can be a little more offensive and you get a boon strip which can remove that stability from lich necros.

I’ve tried changing Harmonious Mantras to either of the other two grandmaster trait but from experience one more interrupt is worth more than the distortion (with no reflect) or a random quickness. Power block is also an option for the domination line, but I stick to the Confounding Suggestions.

Open for suggestions, good or bad.

I personally think the game concept is awesome and anyone who has watched the hunger games can relate to it. Start the match, get whatever you can from the pile and run… and then you decide what you gonna do with what you have in your hands.
Got the gun and the guy in front of you has 2 rations and no weapon? Bad luck, you need that ratio to survive later on.
If people just want more ration to stock up and hide, imagine if 20 people had 10 stacks of ratio and just hide waiting for the other player to be killed by hunger…
Ok, so now you cut the ration supply to minimum, and everyone needs it… That’s what makes the game interesting, if you have that ration you better find some arrows and protect yourself, because as soon as I see you have ration, you’re my target. Or do you want to do like most people and “I won’t shoot you if you don’t shoot me” and starve to death?

I believe the map size is ok, if all 3 camps were close to each other, there wouldn’t be much strategy. Sure it’s a pain in the kitten running from one camp to another, but if you’re being hunt on a camp, or someone just spawned a karka, you better have ration and arrows to protect yourself on your way to the other camp. Though I do believe there should be more scavenger options between camps, specially because at camps I scavenger and most of the time I find nothing.

At the end, it all comes down to surviving. If your strategy is to simply stock on rations and hide… You’ll have to battle to find that ration, and not just scavenger the entire match… Or you hunt down the guy that stocked up on rations and steal it from him.

Engineer Rifle

Now, before someone corrects me and says that Blunderbuss is a cone AoE, in whose experience does it actually work that way? In my experience the only way for Blunderbuss to not have a 50% chance to miss against a mere single enemy, is to target the enemy and (if you’re not closely chasing them) briefly stop moving so the game auto-aims you at them. (I suspect it’s another issue caused by ArenaNet testing on development servers located in their offices with 0.2ms lag)

Another annoyance is Overcharged Shot requiring a target to actually hit. To put it in perspective how stupid that is: In practice, I need to target someone to hit them with my shotgun at 400 range or it will miss, while Thieves will always hit people with Heartseeker without needing to target them at 450 range.

I’d like to correct you, because in my experience I have neither of these problems with the rifle. Just to be sure I just tested it, and yep, don’t have this problem. Are you sure your aiming in the general direction of what you’d like to hit?

Yep, just did some test too and didn’t miss it. The only problem is, and that’s not a game mechanics fault, is if you’re running AND holding down mouse #3, then you’ll shoot in front of you (which is only a problem for overcharged shot, entering a 4 sec cd). By holding down mouse #3 you’re not allowing your character to rotate, thus auto aiming.

Engineer Rifle

I’ll add my 2 cents here and say that rifle is good if you know how to use it.

There is a trait that increases range for rifles but I see rifle as a close range weapon, mainly for skills #3, #4 and #5. The increase range would only make sense to me for the net shot, which is easily dodgeable if you’re far from the target so not really worth it.

On PvE, I combine it with FT & EG kit since I use both at close range and FT offers AoE damage while my rifle is on recharge. For sPvP, I use it as DD along with some CC from #4 and utilities, I haven’t had problems in 1v1 with this build, I can even hold 2 people at once for some time until reinforcement comes.

IMO you’re comparing two different things. If you’re expecting both classes to have the same weapon abilities, then why don’t we all run warriors? And also, why don’t elementalists get the same marks as necromancers when using a staff? Or mesmers?

Engineer does not get a boost on power- Kits do have their own attack value – like every other weapon has it too. Only if your main weapon has lower attack value then kits, then it is a boost. But this should not be the case for exotic weapons.

I am aware that kits have their own attack value, I just called it boost since it goes up if you have no weapon. What I’m saying is that it should also boost other stats other than power. For example if you have no weapon equipped but switch to med kit, your power goes up, which makes no sense since you can’t really attack with it, other than utility skills (which is probably why it goes up in the first place).

Good engineers swap their kits very often. If you don’t – then it is your fault.

Yes, they do, but it’s hard to find a viable build with more than 1 kit. If you focus on power trait, you’ll run with granades or bomb (I don’t see both working together), precision you’ll run with flamethrower and if none of these you’ll run elixir or tool kit. At least that’s my opinion, if you want to get the most of one kit you’ll have to specialize in that trait.

Maybe you’ll run a random kit with elixir gun, but the main reason I see there is for the stunbreak on elixir toolbelt.

This is something I’ve thought over the past days after playing an elementalist for a while (I do have a level 80 engineer).

Elementalists gets an advantage on their stats depending on which attunement they have activated (power for fire, precision for air, etc) which makes them flexible with all skills they have available. For example, they get a boost on healing ability when attuned to water and some of the water spells they get can heal.

Ok, so what’s the point? Engineers only get a boost on power, no matter which kit you’re using (yes, even the Med Kit boosts your power). The idea is to improve the stats that matters to the kit, for example met kit gets a boost on healing power and maybe boon duration, bomb on power and precision, etc.

This way I believe people would change kits during combat, just like an elementalist do, and still do average damage with it.

Ideas? Discuss.

Edit: just to add to it, they could also add more combo finishes to engineers, the ones we have now blasts us out of the field, which kind of sucks when you’re with others in the field.

[Bug]? KR-Super Speed?

I would think it’s working as intended. That the KR on tool kit gives the super speed buff only rather than activating the skill itself therefore you don’t get the bonus of the stunbreaker. The stunbreaker and buff are separate from one another.

This brings up another question I have, has anyone noticed whether or not the automatic consumption of Elixir B at 75% health triggers Cleansing Formula 409. I want to say it does but haven’t payed that much attention to when it activates. If this “triggered” instance of the skill that is also separate from the actual one is proccing 409, then it would logically imply KR should do the same with SS’s new stun break addition.

Elixir B at 75% does trigger Cleansing Formula 409.
About the KR, I don’t believe it’s supposed to work that way especially because it doesn’t trigger Super Speed, it just triggers a 2 seconds Haste, whereas Super Speed has a 5 seconds Haste.
