other post was messed up so creating a new one

Hey All,

I havn’t seen this around after the patch so here I present you with this awesome condi signet build which I have been playing in tpvp/ solo q for quite a while and it totally dominates any fight specially in 1 v 1 scenario. This build is very easy to use in fact some might gonna call it “skill less” play etc but if it works, I won’t mind using it. Basically, all you have to do is stay in earth attunement all the time and never change it during the fight, reasons being, you HP is very little and you don’t wanna die instantly taking any critical hits while in earth we have “Stone Heart” trait, so you’re always safe there. This is a great dueling build as cheesy as PU condi mesmer used to be.

Sigils used are: Earth and corruption, along with Rabid Amulet.

Here are some pros n cons for this build:

Pros:
1. You can’t get critially hit while having a high condi damage (around 1700), 30% extra duration (could use more condi duration runes) and around 3400 toughness (with Rock barrier) so keep pressing earth skill #1 and use signets whenever you can.
2. You got a variety of additional conditions available at your disposal like immobilize, chill, cripple which are good to mess up with foes mobility.
3. Signets CDs are so low with Fire Shield to yourself which will burn your foes hard.
4. Frequent Blinds – Blinding Ashes will be your saviour many times and be used a lot more frequently in a fight (because of Signet’s fire shield and burning precision traits in fire)
5. No attunement switching hassles, no need to make those mind freaking combos with this build.
6. It’s awesome cause it’s 1st ever easy-peasy-ele build I have come across lol
7. See your foes melting away like never before, this build has potential to even do vs 2 or 3 if you play well.

Cons:
1. You won’t be using any other attunements.
2. Limited condi cleanse but you could change healing skill to Ether Renewal but be careful cause it can be interrupted very easily.
3. Low HP Pool
4. As any other condi class, you will be bursting enemies down slowly.

And because celestial ele is so mainstream, we need a variety now!! No more standing at safe spots, no more fun being squishy, time to facetank them!!

You can find the updated build link in the description of the video. Hope you have fun watching some of my random fights with this build:

What is your opinion on the strengths of d/f vs d/d, from both WvW and a PvP perspective?

Well in most cases, offhand dagger will work out better, especially for PvE, however, D/F is much more standard for high-end PvE (high level fractals for ex.) Focus is generally only useful in PvE where you need the defensive ability or the particular encounter, such as projectile absorption on some fractal bosses.

As for PvP and WvW, both can be nice choices, so it might just end up depending on personal preference. I always go through this loop where I’ll use offhand dagger and wish I had focus equipped, then I’ll equip the focus and wish I had offhand dagger equipped. The only difference between D/D and D/F is – the extra mobility of offhand dagger is useful, but the damage difference is minimal (air auto-attack is still the best source of damage) and the extra survivability from things like Obsidian Flesh and Swirling Winds is substantial. So my opinion would be to use whatever you feel more useful for the situation or by looking at your enemy team comp in PvP, for example having mesmers and thiefs on enemy team, I would definitely switch to D/F, it is better against ranged enemies as well.

Inscription Trait *Bugged*– Need attention!!

in Elementalist

Posted by: Diva.1476

Diva.1476

So after picking up the trait “Inscription” in Air (which should reduce the recharge of Glyphs by 20%), the glyph healing (Glyph of Elemental Harmony) recharge remains of 25 secs instead of changing to 20, same with another Glyph skill “Glyph of Elemental Powder” remains 45 secs, however, the cd did change for the rest of the Glyphs i.e. Ice Storm, Glyph of Lesser Elementals, Glyph of Elementals (Glyph Elite).

This is pretty much the reason why we still can’t play a glyph build yet, the only glyphs trait is bugged/unfixed/not tested properly.

Can other players test this as well please and report so devs could have a look at this as early as possible?

I’m attaching a screenshot of it as well.

Step By Step of Might Stacking?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Diva.1476

Diva.1476

Hi there! Proper Might Stacking rotations for D/F elementalist should be:

Fire#3, Fire#2, Fire#4, Water#3, Water#2 (if needed), earth dodgeroll (if needed), earth #3, earth#2, earth#3 again (to cancel the aftercast of earth#2), air, repeat!

Be sure to be able to do all of this without the firefield expiring. Also, Earth#4 should be used more for condi cleanse or reflection than might stacking.

Scepter/ Dagger Might stacking combo:

Switch to fire > Dragon Tooth > Ring of fire > Phoenix > Switch to earth > Dodge roll inside the ROF > Use Arcane blast simultaneously (for extra might) > earthquake > The Churning earth (churning earth will give might when it finishes) > Switch to fire

Please note that with sigil of battle, you should be easily at 20+might stacks with the above mentioned combo. You could also use Arcane brilliance for extra mights but I repeat be sure to be able to do all of this without the firefield expiring.

Hope it helps. Feel free to ask more

Very helpful, thank you. Is there a particular trick to getting dragon’s tooth to cast close to you? I was told to look at the ground while casting it but that doesn’t seem to accomplish anything

You’re very welcome!

As for DT though, it’s sometimes hard to land it without a target. You have to either point all the way up or all the way down. It might be dependent on the terrain and you have to make sure your character is really aiming up or down (you can check by firing projectiles like ice/stone shards). Moving while doing this seems to be more failproof. The dragon tooth / Comet will drop a bit in front of you, but easily near enough to catch it in a ring of fire. I find the flamewall to be harder to aim at or cast at the right position to catch the blast. I rarely used focus though, so it’s likely easier with more practice.

Btw, if you like, watch this video of mine for some DPS combos:

Alright, by looking at other posts and some of your comments here, it’s clear that the present pvp system is flawed. I needed “League Elite” achievement because of which I needed to do ranked only so thanks but no thanks for suggesting unranked or to see my gameplay videos lol. Thanks anyway to reply here. The picture is quite clearer to me now at least. CBA to discuss it any further, I would rather invest my time in something else.
Have fun!

Nothing special just some team fights footage of me playing D/F ele. The sustain is great and so is the damage!! I’m soo loving it more than before!

Scepter/ Focus Fresh Air Elementalist

Diva.1476

I’m liking S/F fresh air ele a lot lately, may be because I’m super bored with playing D/D ele and D/D zerk is not really an option for me to play lols and I have played Staff ele a lot as well so fresh air is quite refreshing for me. Despite a lot of people saying it’s damage is just average and it’s just an ok build, I disagree! May be they are comparing it to what it used to be. I seriously see no issues with its damage outcome in solo q ranked matches. I mean it just works fine, normally I run this build with my brother who uses shoutwarr, our combo is pretty deadly cause I get a lot of DPS boost from him and timely shout heals to survive more, however, this time he decided to play turret engi lol. So Fresh air ele is not used by high level players because d/d cele simply provides more of everything? I know cele is surely more balanced but Fresh Air builds need some love!!! What are your thoughts about standard s/f fresh air builds in 2015?

Here is one gameplay video I recorded today if anyone is interested to watch!

Gameplay Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6UbfqX06WM

I used the standard S/F fresh air build: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArdhcM6cWywyBd0AOAGxiQMQcEIA0BLeFWCA-TJBFwACOBA12foaZAAPAAA

Also, considering last time feedback I received on my Fresh Air Scepter/ Dagger combos video , I have not changed the speed of the video and no music this time either to bring in more transparency in game play, those were actually fair points. Feel free to give constructive feedback but try not to be rude. :P

Expert advice needed – new PvP team

Diva.1476

Thank you so much guys for such detailed comments! I always thought I was good enough since I could kill most of my friends in a duel until I posted this and got some reality check here lol I’m glad I did this otherwise I could never get an in-depth feedback of what could be improved just by watching various youtube videos tbh.

@Phantaram.1265: The main advise which you have given me I can only imagine how much it is going to help me sustain more and do better for my team as well, I should definitely watch out my attunements CD more closely and try to keep 1 attunement ready to switch just after using water and using water to it’s full healing abilities, I can’t believe such details seem so small and unimportant but it actually plays a bigger role in improving the quality of our overall gameplay and give a much better result than we expect. Tysm for your inputs, Phanta!

@Ario.8964:
While all your points are valid and worth considering, I have a few things to discuss:
Going for Beast or not has always confused me, it seems more confusing and RNG based than going for the lord in foefire tbh which still has some good chances of getting lead or win depending when we rush for lord. I may have not understood it properly but here is the thing, for example, we have our home and we got mid as well after wiping them (skipping beast in starting), now we have time and we are alive, now if we go for beast (let’s say 2 of us), we have risk to lose mid (which happens a lot with pugs play) BUT if we don’t go for it, enemy team might get both the beasts and get back to our same score, you understand my point here? Thing is, the match before this match which I recorded had the same issue, their thief kept stealing our beast and theirs too and even though we held 2 points most of the times in that match, we lost the entire match by a few points. Too bad I wasn’t recording that one else you would have better idea of what I’m talking about. I really want to have a good understanding of when to take beast and when not and WHY not, which could give our team a huge advantage at our level games. Of course for top tier gameplay, it’s totally different, you guys also need to realize that while giving out suggestions, our opponents and teams are totally of different levels, even though we use your builds, we can never follow your hardcore mechanics cause it simply won’t work for us, our thought process, our skill level could never ever match what we watch in those sponsored matches. For example, for you guys, decapping/ capping is most priority and your team members are very well aware of their roles, our mentality is mostly stuck at killing opponents, we do TRY to defend our points but often lose and then recap etc and it keeps going on for both the teams, I’m just trying to give out a picture of what I see in pvp matches so you experts can give out tips accordingly cause imagine if we follow as you guys do, with our limited knowledge, it’s not gonna work out and will mess up more right? So solve the beast mystery for me considering our level play style so we can do better in our normal pvp matches and take advantage of it in best possible way! Also, please suggest a good team composition considering our ranger can only play ranger and I love playing d/d mainly so what would you suggest four our Mesmer and shoutwar to change to? If at all. And tysm Ario, I appreciate your detailed input!

Fought an unkillable ele...

Is it possible to have an elementalist not take any shortbow damage for say 2 minutes of constant fire?

Said it was doing damage but the damage bar did not move….

Is this possible?

Yes if it showed “immune” everytime you were putting conditions on that ele, they could be using “Diamond Skin” trait OR if you’re talking about direct damage hits then it could be using “Stone Heart” trait which gives us immunity against critical hits. Much likely you are talking about wvw scenario?

Hope my answer helps
