Alright. After hours of playtime and fooling around with different builds in WvW this weekend I came to the conclusion, that Plaguelands in the grand picture sucks.

Sure it’s great for fighting camps and stuff, but that’s not what I am after. That is PvE. As soon as a human player comes along you get so incredibly out maneuvred it’s not even funny.

The only time it’s actually useful is when there are catas directly at the wall of a tower or rams at the gate. Then you can jump from the wall with Spectral Walk on, plant Plaguelands and return up to safety… Given your timing is perfect of course. Because the incredible lack of stability makes it almost impossible for Plaguelands to get through. So most of the time you drop down, get CCed and have to return back up without doing anything.

And that’s my biggest problem of all. The old Plagueform gave us a reliable source of Stability and tankiness. Our ONLY reliable source of Stability. Now with that gone and none existent movement spells I die. A lot.

I’m not the best player obviously. But I know when to go in and when to retreat. I have map awareness. I have everything I need to survive. But it’s still not enough. Where other classes simply can walk out of the death zones, we get knocked down and snared literally to death.

Plaguelands is actually pretty powerful if you use it at the right time.

It’s very different from the old elite, which was about mobility.

Think high DPS but without any mobility.

It is quite effective against veteran and lower NPC’s (camps) and siege. Against players, it’s best used on a bridge or other choke to deny access, or during a busy zerg clash where other distractions and red circles might cause it to be ignored for several seconds.

So in other words it’s extremely situational and you first have to move yourself into an extremely dangerous position before you can expect any benefit.

Sooo, first things first I’m a returning player after being away for almost a year now, and even before that I rarely played. So I logged into my beloved Necromancer and joined WvW as a Reaper, but it just didn’t do it for me. So I though, well maybe I should return to my old condition build and spread some diseases.

But what the hell happened? Is Anet actually being serious with this? I feel like most spells have a reduced range now. The wells and everything. But hey, that’s fine. I simply move closer, drop them and then quickly switch into Plagueform. The first time I did that I immediately got downed and didn’t even notice that my elite got changed. I just thought the damage was too high. But on my second attempt I noticed my elite going on cooldown, but I’m still jumping around as a feeble human, not a virulent cloud.

That’s when I took a step back and simply cast Plaguelands outside of any fight to see what is actually happening. What I saw was that I simply farted a small, pulsing cloud of laughable size on my position, and I was like “WHAAAT??”…

How do you expect us to use this elite against other players? First off, you don’t even gain Stability while casting, so it’s easily interruptable. But who would interrupt such an elite, which you can simply roll out of, because it’s so small? Hell, you don’t need to do anything, because as immobile as Necro is you don’t even have to worry about him getting close enough to get any effect from Plaguelands at all!

There are soo many downsides to this skill compared to the old Plagueform. One of the biggest being the lack of Stability. Now you’re simply the tossing ball of the enemy zerg. Not to mention the loss of tankiness and a relocatable AoE spell.

Honestly, stuff (meant to say a different word here) like that makes me want to leave the game again. Anet is again reducing the number of viable builds in WvW. But maybe I’m wrong, but then maybe someone can tell me how to efficiently utilise Plaguelands in WvW, or any other PvP scenario?

Nothing to do with P4F. Did your friend have a trial account? Did your friend purchase the game from ArenaNet, or an Authorized Retailer?

If your friend has not heard back from the CS Team after 72 hours, he/she can post the Ticket Number in the Sticky above. ‘Tickets for Review’.

He bought the full version of the game on release day, from anet as far as I know. He even purchased the deluxe/collectors version ingame.

This is a problem a friend of me has.

He hasn’t logged into his account for over 2 years, but wanted to get playing the game. He hasn’t purchased Heart of Thorns. But when he tries to log into the launcher he gets the following message:

“You are trying to log into an account which is not connected to a valid serial key”

Has this something to do with GW2 becoming f2p, where “inactive” accounts deleted? As usual support is extremely slow with handling this situation and hasn’t repsonded to tickets for days.

If anyone with similar experience could share what he had to do, I’d be very thankful.

Incredible Lags/Delays

My ping is totally fine, I am only lagging in GW2 and nowhere else. Also it doesn’t get blocked by any firewall or whatsoever. It worked fine the whole time after all, but I started to get extreme lags since yesterday and I changed nothing. No new hardware, no new software, no settings changed… still suddenly those 20s delayes, especially in spvp.

For roughly 20 hours now I am experiencing incredible skill and action delays making the game, and especially competitive modes, impossible to play. I have a steady internet connection with a constant LOW ping, although any other game is just working fine and I am experiencing this only in GW2.

I am using the 64 bit client, because the game crashes frequently with the other (annoying in Dragon Stand).

Up to this point I never had performance issues with GW2 and it suddenly occurred.

Central Tyria Mastery WvW

Hey guys,

as some of you may have noticed WvW is kinda in a difficult state right now, especially since the release of HoT since many people are leveling their masteries and want to achieve/explore the new content. While I totally understand, that the Maguuma Mastery obviously should be leveled in the Maguuma regions, I don’t really understand why the Central Tyria Masteries cannot be leveled in WvW or sPvP.

Well, they are called Central Tyria Masteries and those other two places are obviously in the Mists, but the content that has to be done to level those masteries is the same in WvW and PvP.

If that’s not possible, why are there no Masteries for WvW and sPvP? The rewards you gain by completing a WvW Rank are incredibly underwhelming and mostly don’t even cover the costs for sieges etc. So why make those game modes even more unattractive by allowing to level mastieries only through PvE. Things (like creating a legendary) were just harder before, but now are impossible. People won’t be able to craft Nevermore and other Legendaries through WvW since they cannot level their masteries there.

To conclude: I see no reason why the Central Tyrian Masteries (or a totally new Mastery) shouldn’t be added to both PvP-Modes, especially to WvW.

[Minor] Graphic Error (Phantom Hood)

Heya,

there is this small graphic error with the Phantom Hood when using bright dyes (e.g. Celestial Dye) directly for the head piece, and some chest piece fields.

If you use those brigth dyes and look inside the hood you can see a triangle and the back of the hood (see added screenshot). (Trianlge coloured like the chest piece and back of the Hood coloured like the hood itself).

So if you want to avoid those graphical errors you are forced to use dark colours (e.g. Midnight Ice Dye).

I know it’s minor (hence the title), but it’s annoying nonetheless.

Some of you guys are mixing HoT content with not Hot content.

Remember some of the new features such as Stronghold, new Borderland, core specializations or guild halls are for every player.

I guess Anet is not really clear about what exclusive content is for HoT player only…

This only means we are actually getting even less for the HoT price…

That’s it, no more Guild Wars 2 for me. I won’t be angry, I won’t make accusations, I will just state my point of view:

I won’t pay a FULL game price for something that isn’t. a FULL. game.
Just by comparison you see what got introduced with the release of GW2 and what will get introduced with HoT. I won’t give you exact numbers, but it should be obvious that there is a clear disparity.

  • GW2 introduced multiple skill sets with multiple weapons for each profession. HoT just one.
  • GW2 introduced 20+ map sectiosn with lot of things to explore. HoT will about let’s say five (not including what is to come, but then I didn’t include new maps before too).
  • GW2 had multiple character slots. HoT will have ONE additional, but ONLY if you are willing to pay MORE money!!
  • GW2 introduced multiple pvp arenas, and multiple WvW maps. HoT will have only one additional borderland and… well you get it by now.

And the list goes on and on. I hope you guys, also Arenanet, can understand what I am trying to say. HoT is NOT a game worthy of a full game price, I am NOT willing to spend that much money.

P.S.: For those who say: “Don’t be greedy…”, “You don’t have to buy it…”, “You are entitled to nothing…”.
Yeah. I get it. I am not demanding Arenanet to lower their prices. I am just not willing to buy HoT because of the aforementioned reasons.

P.P.S.: I also feel a little sorry for my friend who just bought this game about one week ago, when he could get GW2+HoT for the same price just a little later.

If you want to invest time in something, get a Bachelor’s Degree. Playing video games is wasting time, not investing it. If they shut down the servers tomorrow, your entire “investment” in the game is gone. If this is a concern for you, the only thing you can do about it is be more careful where you invest your resources.

Ahhh yeaahh sure… if we follow this rule we should not do anything at all since we all die sooner or later… But we are not looking at end of time (servers) scenarios, but on what is happening right now.
It only feels like a waste of time when things you spend it on suddenly become worthless or could have been used better, like in this case.

Taking away my invested time.

Actually it shouldn’t be anyone’s fault for saving up anything, especially not the casual player’s.
This isn’t “real life” where unexpected shifts in value happen. This is an artificial environment where the game designers can change things without people losing their invested time in a particular good.

I also hoarded my Boosters, expecting a game mode with more entertaining content for which I can use them up. If such a mode never gets released… well that’s the risk I have to take and also accept.
But simply removing the Boosters without any compensation is not a risk I took when hoarding them. Now I regret not having used them all up and buy me more fancy tomes to level my alts and such. Announcing such a change also did not really help at all, since I saved up way too many of them to be consumed in the little amount of time I can invest into this game since I am a casual player for whom this game got greatly promoted for.

So the ones who get punished the most are the casual players, those with limited time available.
It is and should NOT be our own fault for not having them used up earlier because such a change just is not expectable.

New weapon type: Bare Hand Style!!

Why always feel the need to implement new weapons, when it can be so easy? Todays games focus so much on new weapon that they often forget about a very old fighting style: Bare Handed!

I find it amusing to think, that people cannot defend themselves when they are weaponless. Even most popular action movies nowadays focus on martial art fights. So why don’t carry that over into GW2? There are a lot of possibilites in what way classes can use this “weapon”-type in fighting. Of course not every profession has to be fighting with their fists but rather utilize them and maybe can channel their power in a different way.

Unleash your fantasy! I am sure you can come up with great ideas!

Yeah, when this skill gave a passive syphon hand had some actual synergy with other Necro traits there was hope, but now its just rubbish.

The internal cooldown on the passive is also just plain awful.

It’s just a poor version of the Warrior healing signet… and outside of pve the active also is useless (especially 1v1).

Has been changed some time ago… but well, that’s just a minor problem. There is a lot more which enrages the necro community. But we still have Consume Condition… until they change it so it just cleanses 3 conditions or something like that because it makes us way too immune to conditions cough guardians cough warriors*…

There isn’t anything to discuss about. Anets argumentation is built on an air bubble that we would center our entire build around ONE trait or skill. Since this isn’t viable because we would lack in every other aspect of a fight then, the air bubble pops and Anets argument is invalid. Case closed.

Haha it’s sooo funny you can just laugh about it
I just watched the dev stream on youtube again. Really with every class they showed the new healing skill there were things like “wow, that are high (healing) ticks” or “we got just fully healed”. They drew the attention to the life bar to show just how much they got healed.

Then comes the Necro. I felt like they were trapped in the doge meme… “Wow.. so red… much scary… wow”… for real…
They didn’t even DARE to look at the health bar yet even talk about it, because they feared people would notice they just got healed for a lousy ~2000hp (two mesmer heal ticks).

No dudes, case closed… nothing to add anymore…

Yeah I know, roll such a build on my guardian, it’s ridiculous.

My point is that if we can’t CC them through conditions and don’t have access to high mobility spells we cannot keep up with other classes. We cannot choose to kill someone, they are simply mercifull enough to let themselves get killed by us (by overextending). But if they feel like it they can simply disengage without a possibility for us to prohibit that or to efficiently chase them.

Today happened something to me that made me heavily doubt the class balance again.

First off, I am not a rookie! I play Necromancer since release, it was and is my favourite class, that’s why it saddens me even more to see it being that at the other classes mercy…
I am also a heavy pvp player and know how to outplay others so please remember that.

Today in WvW Border two allied thieves and I hunted a warrior. I know this is not very smart but at first I considered it a fast kill since we were 3 v 1. Well my opinion changed after we chased him literally from our Garrison to North Camp and back!! At this point I hunted him solely for the satisfaction after killing him (which not happened). I couldn’t fear him because he instantly stun breaked, he shook chill off and 90% I was too far behind anyways.

This whole scenario made me realise again that we can’t choose to kill somebody. They have to allow us to kill them (mostly by overestimating themselves). I know we are an attrition class (yeah sure…) so that’s why we heavily lack mobility, but shouldn’t we then have something to counter the mobility of other classes? They can disengage way to easily and we only sit there in our puddle of tears because we actually would have won.

There are some heavy design flaws (also with deathshroud, conditions etc). So it is more than overdue for anet to react. They have to reconsider the whole class concept. They got themselves way to tangled up in the existing model (with dhuumfire burst + stuff being op, that’s why they have to nerf other things etc).

Don’t think of this as another QQ-Thread, the more threads like this exist and get created the bigger the pressure on anet to act gets.

One more statement on our attrition role. We are inferior because “the only form of attrition we have does not scale”! (as said by Nemesis) 1v1 we are fine, maybe even 1v2, but 1vn (n>2) our form of attrition is clearly inferior. Other classes have access to invulnerability which outperforms us, especially in WvW. It doesn’t matter if they up against 1 or 100. They will survive the next 3s (and be honest, our DS doesn’t hold up that long against 2 already). That’s the flaw. The only advantage is we can cast spells while being in this type of “invulnerability”.

First off, I am a WvW-Condi-Necro, try to read the following under this aspect.

Being able to activate DS while in Lich- or Plague-form. This will of course cancel the Elite and set it on cooldown.

And I don’t think necros represent and give the feeling they should to other players (e.g. in WvW).
When I see a Warrior I know this guy is a beast and don’t want him get close to me. Thief is elusive, fast and hard to catch but still can backstab you hard, like a real assassin. Rangers are to reeeaally long range snipers in this game, also I can understand why they want a buff right now. Mesmers are deceiving and confusing with all their clones. And so on…

But Necromancers (especially condition) just feel like a huge damage sponges, but not like the masters of defilment and corruption. I want necros to be like Masters of the Dark Arts who dance over the battlefield, ripping off some boons from the guys right to them, then spreading powerful conditions to the group over there. After that suck in some conditions on themselves just to spread them to their enemies tenfold. Shroud themselves in darkness and cause chaos and terror on the battlefield.
This is NOT about big numbers or mowing down your enemies… but the feeling I want us Necromancers to emit to simply make our enemies crumble and suffer in despair.

We have some great tools to fulfill that, but they just cannot unfold their potential.

Corrupt Boon
Great thing!! Really… but just to rip off the boons, not for the conditions applied because they just get cleansed (but cleansing is another problem)… and the boons reapplied…
Why not make it like virulent debuff which converts every boon applied into a condition on and around (~500 range) the target for the next 4-6s.

Epidemic
Come on.. remove the cast time. Every time I want to cast it the conditions are already removed when it goes through…

Blood is Power
Just used for the might… Remove the enemy bleed and make it an enchantment which applies a boon on us corresponding for every condition we receive in the next 4-6s. (Conditions still get applied, this remake would greatly synergize with Plague Signet)

Plague Signet
Nice idea! But too long cooldown. Remove the stunbreak (after all we have DS) and make it more spammable.

Signet of Spite
What is this? A signet for Conditionmancers or Powernecros? Well maybe hybrid…

Spectral Grasp
Mhh with dagger in main and in spvp this spell may be good, don’t know. Want to hear your thoughts about it.

As a Condinecro I don’t like Death Shroud at all. I just use it to wait for cd and to absorb some damge, maybe DS#2 which is suicide most time. I like Underwater DS more in terms of condis. Maybe DS can have the GW1 Contagion incorporated in weaker form ofc.

Sorry for this wall of pain.. ehh text. I know this is just about conditions and not MM or powernecros, I leave those for you guys. Hope you could keep up with it

I strongly suggest Anet to release the patch note before the day when launching out the update, so that people would be hot to discuss about the patch notes instead of the date when the patch will be out.

They don’t release the patch notes (which may include recipes and stuff) earlier to prevent market manipulation

You just have to be really, really lucky… even if it sucks…

Just for MF-clarification:
1. You can recieve a Precursor from lvl 80 rares?
2. You can recieve a Precursor from lvl 71+ exotics?

Because I often heared now, that rares wouldnt yield into a Precursor..
And is a lvl 71 exotic high enough for the lvl-requirement?
