This used to be a thing i dont know why it was removed. But as it currently stands, to get the perfected rifle i have to do the vast majority of the precursor collection whereas if i wanted the perfected sword skin i just need to buy the crystalline blade for like 5g. Same with usokus needle, or imryldyeen, or ANY PERFECTED WEAPON. the perfected rifle is the only skin without a non precursor collection counterpart from the core set. PLEASE STREAMLINE THIS BEFORE POF ANET.

No. The answer to this isnt to nerf a perfectly good skill but to instead bring this new one up to snuff. As it currently stands this isnt any better than the core game heals. Worse potentially.
As the title says, malicious restoration is so underpowered compared to channeled vigor it almost puts the entire deadeye elite spec into question. Heres the math. With the malificent 7 trait you gain 7 malice containers. Malicious restoration does a base heal of 4560 + 808 per malice point. Added together you get 10,216 heal at max malice and its on a 30 second recharge and no trait to lower that.
Channeled vigor on the other hand has a 20 second CD that can BE LOWERED EVEN FURTHER by brawlers tenacity trait. It does 3 pulses of 5,520 healing per pulse which adds to 16,560 healing. This can be EVEN FURTHER ENHANCED by having full enduranceehich heals to a whopping 21,960
As it currently stands, channeled vigor does twice the heal on half the CD and can refill your endurance.
This needs to change if you want us to play deadeye
It is pretty obvious from the feedback so far that the underlying problem here is the fact that skill balance is not unique to a specific game mode. Until these are split, you will never be able make all three modes work well.
I know this is a non trivial task, but I think it should be on the short list of improvements for the long term health of all modes.
There was a dev post some time back suggesting it was something Anet would consider. I think it is time to acknowledge this change is long overdue.

For real though, remember when they made D/P the only viable pvp build by slaughtering p/p for pve because it was deemed “too OP for pvp”?
Here’s my input in the matter. as it currently stands, the amount of experience required to complete the heart of thorns masteries vs the availability of the required exp is way too rediculous.
If the exp requirements were lowered by even a bit, then i would actually get the feeling that i was accomplishing anything. But right now it feels like such a chore to get even one of the mid level jungle masteries such as lean techniques completed that i have genuinely stopped playing the game.
This is not fun for me, and judging by quite a few of the comments, this is not fun for others as well. That’s what a game is supposed to be. Fun. Not some pointless grind. This is the reason i stopped playing WoW.
simple. change shadowstep, infiltrators strike, shortbows 5, etc. to actual teleports rather than movement.

Only thing i see an issue with is the damage on staff. It’s currently not a viable main weapon for pve or pvp, and with the utility of shortbow, staff cant be used there either. I’d suggest upping the damage on the auto attack (by a lot) and the skill 3. That, in addition to a rework for dust strike to be a dust (similar to smokescale) or dark field would make this a good weapon choice and add more purpose to the class itself, and thus more of a reason to run the spec.

As someone who just came back to the game and bought HoT… these two announcements worry me.
Raids make games super competitive and Raiders have a stigma of being negative towards casual players, which I am one of.
The Core Game being free… well that might mess with the economy, WvW and EotM (the latter where I spend most of my time) and invite even more gold bots and spammers.
I’ll wait before jumping the gun. Because Anet has to have obviously seen these issues coming and taken precautions against them.

I dont play a thief but I duel and pvp alot vs thives.
From what I can tell this spec is everything thives were lacking, the trait line and mechanic desighn is definitely a power creep on on the verge of being OP, great flavor and new play style. I dont think the goold old S/D can be compared, S/D was greatly about manganing the energy for evades and alot of blinking(in and out attack patterns) and most S/D builds used SR. This new traitline togather with acrobatics(great synergie) has the potential to make the theif an “esavie tank” he can literally be in the enmy face without blinking away or stealthing.Its a game changer for thief in both WVW and PVP we’ll have to c about PVE.
as a strict PVE thief, im telling ya right now, this is amazing.

Edit: if you were gonna go with staff, it should have been towards a support role, as the thief severely needs a tanky option. Staff + Meditations that cleanse condi and strip boons, heal, grant boons to self/allies.
have you ever even used signet of malice? combine that kitten with pistol whip and cleric armor and you have a kitten near unkillable class for PVE
Daredevil means someone without fear so the name will never work on Thief’s spec because we always die falling from cliffs due to fear.
If ArenaNet keeps the name, then we should be immune from fear — which will never happen because ArenaNet gets a kick seeing us fall from cliffs like lemmings.

We can only hope one of them answers the message.Well it’s not called a thief anyway and I’m just following a pattern in the revealed ones those who got a 1H weapon got an extra F button ele would have too hard come on now and those who got 2H weapons got their mechanic replaced if war follow the same pattern then if thief get either rifle or staff steal will be altered. If we get super stolen items I’m out.
i second this
thief PVE is a lot of dodging, rolling into a large group of enemies and pistol whipping. i have signet of malice where its passive ability is that i gain health every time i hit something. pistol whip hits up to 3 enemies 6 times with each use. i can use this roughly 3 times before my initiative needs to recharge. i use the might and swiftness gain from my dodging to my advantage in this. and if a boss has a high toughness i autoattack him to lower both his attack power and defense.
if sh/it really hits the fan, i pop dagger storm and move towards enemies so i can get the health gain while stacking bleeding on baddies and reflecting projectiles
it actually makes me very sad to see people leaving thief. i always felt a kind of mutual understanding and comraderie from other thiefs. i built my 2 years of memories from this game playing solo, strict PVE Theif. the name for my theif became my internet and rave alias. and now i feel completely ignored by the devs unless they want to throw nerfs at me. this is not how you make a quality game.
I agree. i admit i am very mad about the recent nerfs to thief, but if a developer is willing to speak to us, then i am willing to be civil.
I completely agree. We have just been nerfed, and nerfed, and nerfed to the point where we cant even hold our own against a fuc/king ranger or necro. Explain that to me. Fact of the matter is Anet needs to realize that only a small percentage of players actually use venoms. Mostly because they are a blatant gimmick that isn’t even effective. Bring back our endurance regen from dodging without an attack and at least up the target limit on attacks. Specifically for things like pistol whip so we can at least be good in PVE. I hate having to constantly defend the fact that I love how my thief used to play when every person tells me that I should just switch my main to something that doesn’t fit my playstyle because my class is now COMPLETELY WORTHLESS. Step up your game Anet. Please.
