the new daily really works as a feature to help some player to experience some features in the game, and play it better..

I really don’t think the daily should be used as a game tutorial, but that’s my opinion.

So as far as I can tell, you have kept dailies the same, but have only made them harder, and require more boring stuff like crafting.

What happened to the new and exciting things every day, encouraging us to go back to old areas?

Agreed, dailies have now become a hastle to complete, especially for us who dont have all afternoon to complete them. Dodging for dailies? Now thats a joke.

Pretty much my take on the new dailies. The old ones were in the background and you tended to complete them simply playing the game your way. Maybe a little clean-up around kill variety at the end of the session, but never an issue.

Precisely. The dailies were downright perfect, really.

I had hoped they would be changing the monthies to look more like their original daily system, to be honest, to open up more options for monthly completion. Instead, they made dailies even more restrictive and it’s likely that the monthlies will be no better.

I don’t understand this obsession with breaking things that already worked instead of fixing things that have been broken too long.

The dailies were fine….I just spent almost an hour trying to “dodge” my way to daily completion and I am only at 73% no matter how many mobs I fight and dodge. Its a pain in the kitten as of today. Dailies werent an issue so I am not sure why they made them more difficult.

How are Necros in tPvP?

I’m not a professional, i’m just a casual lv30 ranked player,

I always ends as one of the best three,

The real problem with a necro is the lack of different builds, i found just one viable and you need to know your class pretty well,

Despite that, i do it really well with my necro

Do you mind posting your build? I was using staff build but I am getting smashed.

I see alot of players using GS + S/P, but I am enjoying the range of the Staff/GS. Is Staff/GS viable in sPvP?

If you have a good build for sPvP using the GS/Staff could you please post it? And if for some reason you think the GS/Staff is garbage for sPvP could you please indicate why?

Agree 100%. No fun whatsoever imo. Please give me a ‘self destruct’ 5 button. This, and underwater combat. Seems to me these two features were added as something diffetent from other mmos. Well, it hasn’t worked as far as I am concerned. Don’t do something new for the sake of it. Extra balance issues to take care of and just frankly boring.

Land combat while not downed – amazingly good fun. When I am knocked down, for the love of god just let me respawn…

This is the right idea.

I agree with the OP.

Need to have Preview option, and be able to sort Armor by type (light, med, heavy) and mats by profession.

I also noticed that the “box of armor” have level requirements, but when displayed it shows lvl 0.

What if a Thief had to use some skills or auto attacks in order to build up initiative, instead of having a full bar from the start and it being regenerated over time?

It’d kind of work like the Death Shroud of the Necro, where certain skills grant you x% of Life Force.

Then, Thieves wouldn’t be so gimmicky and would actually have to have a certain rotation of skills or plan when going in to a battle, instead of just 22222222herp222222 (I exaggerate, of course. :p)

This way, nobody can say, “I blew my load! I’m dead now!”, like they like to use as their excuse for their high burst.

I can understand why some Thieves would be against this idea, as it would significantly increase the skill level required to use it. You know, putting it up to par with an Engineer, Ele, or a Necro.

ANet needs to remove initiative, and give skill cooldowns like other classes.

Because they’re the faceroll class, essentially.

Total faceroll. I made one and was easily destroying people by spamming 3 skills that I didn’t even bother to read what the other 2 fully did. It makes me hate to play my….less than ok ranger.

THIS^^^^ When I quickly get dispatched on my (any other class) I login my thief and do a few rounds. It makes me feel better.

Gerrvid is not in the lodge to guide us through. I am also unable to read the books scattered around on the floor. Map chat is also saying the same among other players who cannot complete this.

nothing is going to change unless we make it change. I would much rather play my warrior, i just enjoy the sword and board / rifle playstyle.

but there is no beating a good thief 1v1… so what did i do? i rolled a thief! It’s easy really, the builds are just one google search away, and if you think getting owned by backstab is fun, wait til you come across a unicorn thief. It’s what i roll and it’s just as easy to play as backstabbers, only MORE powerful. It’s less frustrating to lose to us, because you assume it takes more skill, but it really doesnt LOL.

Basically the only thing that will make anet balance classes is everyone rolling thieves.

If you are stubbornly holding onto your favorite non-thief class, you are the problem, not the solution

Agreed. I run a full toughness Ranger with Soldiers Amulet in sPvP. I am good at my class and have no issues with any class but thieves. Last night it took less than 8 seconds for a thief to kill me and since he kept dropping to stealth I never got a shot off. And he was sure to wait until I had completed my dodge rolls and evades to hit me. I assumed he knew how to play, but I could do nothing to defend myself since I couldn’t see him.

So I rolled a thief, came back in and rolled face. Its stupid that one class can be so OP.

P/S - Cond/Prec/Tough - Am I doing it wrong?

I run a P/S build based on Elixirs, Boon Duration and Toughness. Essentially a durable dps build for the Engi. I dont kill fast, but outlast anything.

I run 0/30/20/20/0. It lets me stay alive but also maximizes condition damage.

If you buy two Runes of the Water, and Two Runes of the Monk (lowbie versions on the Trading post) you increase your Boon Duration by 30% on top of the 20% boon duration from the 20 points in Alchemy. Its a good balance of DPS and Durability.

Power adds to Condition Damage if I remember correctly, and that may have something to do with the vendors selling cond+power items.

Okay I just left PVP to write this up. This is actually my first post.
I was running through the battlefield and came across a Thief.

The guy vanished, hit me and BAM I was suddenly dying on the ground.

Now as this is my first post I am sure there have been others regarding “overpowered classes” and I just read through one of the developers saying “find a counter” before making that claim but I have to say…I can’t counter what happened when I was dead before I could react. I play sPVP primarily in this game and I was just floored at what happened.

Could a DEV even counter that?
I seriously doubt it.

Now I play a Thief occasionally, and personally I don’t think they are overpowered at all, I think there are certain combinations that can be made with a few Professions that are just undeniably unstoppable. There seriously needs to be some retooling if this is going to be the norm because I literally had 1 second to react. ONE SECOND between that fast attack and I was “fighting for my life”.

COME ON.

I have seen a few on Youtube that can drop health pretty quickly if utilized properly but NOTHING like what I just went through. Those attacks (Pistol/Sword for example) could at least be countered. This was just plain wrong. W-R-O-N-G.

It’s not even PVP.
It’s not even a fight.
Hell…it’s probably not even that hard to do because I am sure it wasn’t an exploit.

The point is that stuff like this takes the fun right out of the game. You expect some level of player versus player in PVP, not 2-3 button kills.

Who wants to play PVP like that anyway?
I wouldn’t even if I could.
It’s extremely cheap and without challenege.

So Devs, this isn’t a case of someone crying “OP!!!” just because they couldn’t stop a player, this is someone who has been PVPing since release and just came across a serious WTF moment. I even said that in PVP.

The Thief responded with a ‘<3’.

The way I see it:

Theives dont have cooldowns, they run on initiative. Adjust them to have skill cooldowns and they can be just like every other class and can’t spam certain skills 5 or 6 times on a row.

There should absolutely be a #5 ability for every class that lets you die and start respawn timer. I realize that the down state give you a fighting chance, but in some situations I just would rather die and start the timer.

We are moving towards retaliation being more of a counter to taking many hits rather than a general boon to keep up all the time.

Does it mean that retaliation goes away after a multi-hit? I guess I dont understand how it works now. If anyone can clarify I would appreciate it!

So it’s not all servers it seems, but a cluster of them

Gonna contribute with a super annoying guardian build (that I just love to use) :

QQMOAR

The unkillable thingy with 16k hp

For some reason you can’t see the utilities, just take Judge’s Intervention, Stand your ground and Smite Condition.

Whole idea of the build is to have plenty of situational stuff in order to adapt quickly.

So here you go with 2 condition wipers (smite condition / virtue of resolve), plenty of defense + offense and on top the choice to fill your endurance when you kill someone, or gain power bonus, it all depend of what you want.

Same goes for the offensive options : when you swap to the torch you ll have 100% crit chance so have fun with Zaelot, and your whole armor is setted up for extra burning length.

Cherry on the cake ? Retaliation on each virtue, and you can easily play this build with a hammer, it’ll be even more powerfull.

Edit : the hell, half of the stuff done is broken. So there’s sigil of stamina on the shield, and 2 runes of balthazar + 2 runes of flame legion + 2 runes of divinity on the armor / berserker amulet + jewel

Your Engi build will do much more burst if you replace Surprise Shot with Throw Wrench or Rocket Turret. Surprise Shot barely does any damage compared to the other two.

Some open threads in the forum have no edit, quote or report function icons beside their posts. The only thing visible is the permalink.

There was actually a post I wanted to report, but was unable to do so because of the lack of these options.

Is this a bug, or are there some unlocked threads that lack these choices for a valid reason?

Was just trying to figure this out today, glad there is already a post about it. Please fix!!

I also dislike the pirate hate and pirate mask. Monocle isn’t too bad, but an actual helmet would be cool. Cause we all know engineers wear safety helmets in real life…right?

I love my Engi. Pistol/Shield/Elixir builds are strong and do decent damage. Rifle has great CC also. Grenades underwater = WIN. What other class has a spammable AOE?

Will you be adding the option to create private rooms for a group of friends to play together without having random players entering the game?
Sometimes we just want to hang out and play together and also practice spvp and discuss tactics while playing to improve our skills. Don’t really care if the private room doesn’t give rank points.
What’s important is being able to play with/against friends without outside interference. =|

Glad today’s patch further improved Thieves and somewhat nerfed Elementalists. It was really something in dire need.

HS needs a cooldown, or damage reduction. Spec’d right you can spam it 5 times before initiative runs out and kill anything. And yes I tested it.

It takes little skill to kill as a thief, but plenty to know how to counter it. Definitely not balanced in my opinion.

Remember that you can join a tournament with a partial roster and it will match you with the players necessary to fill your team while still allowing you to play on the same team as your friends.

I agree that at least the heartseeker spam is out of control. HS thieves are running all over pvp because you can spam it and kill everything. I know because I rolled one and realized how easy it is to do.

I respeced my engi using a toughness and vitality build. Still see HS thieves all over, they just dont kill me as fast anymore.
