What is long to you? Never more than a second for me. Even on the 99 page dungeon forum that was recently locked is only took about 1 second if that.
Going from a post back to the index for this subforum, 20 seconds each time. When you’re trying to read dozens if not hundreds of posts in a day, that’s a long, long time.
Edit: After clicking “submit” for this post, a 5 second wait.
Edit: After clicking “edit” for this post, a 12 second wait.
Edit: Going to the main “Forum” in the breadcrumbs above, instant. Then getting onto the index page for this sub-forum, 20 seconds again.
Edit: Click the edit icon and the window opens instantly. But edit, and then click “edit” and it took 19 seconds to post.
that is way too slow. you might want to try how fast the forum loads when you are logged out (maybe some moderator functions your account has are slowing down page loading times massively)

We will be removing the timer after death before killed players are worth XP in WvW.
is that only for xp or also for loot?
If a player is worth XP, they will also be worth loot. This also affects rallying, sigil stacks, on-kill procs, etc.
thank you. that is great

I’d say there is a pretty strong sentiment against the idea of collapsing all of WvW into 3 colors, rather than the current world set up. Which I agree with. I think world pride and association is an important part of the way that WvW works currently.
I fully agree
I’m curious what you all think of that? Does it retain the feeling of victory in WvW right now and solve problems or does it just introduce more issues without solving any core concerns?
While I think it is a minor improvement over the current situation it still does not do anything to stop victory to be based on a servers coverage outside of primetime.
I would prefer a mix between my suggestion on page 1 and yours.
The part of your suggestion that i would keep is that you fight the same 3 servers every day for a week, this allows for planing (of gvgs etc.)
However i would make servers have seperate rating per starttime of the match and have them fight different servers depending on the time. so a server that is strong during the morning, weak during the day and average during the evening gets matched against strong servers in the morning, weak servers during the day and average servers during the evening, which alows for fairer fights all around.

Proposal Overview
Shorten matchup duration for more competive matchups
Goal of Proposal
Create more fun matches, removing the issue of servers losing moral early in the week by faling behind
Proposal Functionality
Matches should be shortened (i think 3 hours like in eotm is too short, either 6 or 8 hour matchups)
A server should have multiple ratings (e.g. 1 rating for the matchup from 0-8am, 1 for 8am-4pm and and one for 4pm-12), thus making sure that you are matched with servers with similiar activity during that matchup
Associated Risks
Various machanics have to be reworked (Power of the Mists & Keep/Tower Upgrades)
It could prove a problem for guilds who play at a time when the matchup switches from one matchup to the next. Something needs to be done to avoid a downtime of multiple minutes between each of the matches
Edit: Should i post my proposals in a extra post per proposal or gather them all in one?

The gods gave man blessings. While they were gone from the world and beyond the Mists, they remained forever present but not corporeal. However, men forever strove to get closer to the gods including gaining favor and Kormir receiving their blessing and ascending to godhood.
So now, we’re supposed to believe that they just went, “Oop, we’re out. Magic is more pervasive than it’s ever been. You humans got this.”
this isn’t what happened at all. you might want to replay gw nightfall. especially the last two missions where the gods made it clear that they are leaving (and why)
this isn’t some sort of lore they made up for gw2 it is what was around since nightfall

The obvious thing is that there needs to be more dev responses.
One thing that became very apparent is that the WvW section only has one dev posting while pvp & pve have multiple devs. In general the amount of dev interaction is very low (except for pvp which seems to be on a good way, especially with all the posts by Justin ODell)
In the few posts Devon made he however showed that he put alot more thought into the issue of server population than most people on the forum.
The topic in general was imho not very productive. The balance of server populations is a very hard issue to solve and most suggestions made would do more harm than good and i don’t feel that anything in the thread brought us closer to a solution (except maybe transfer prices bound to WvW rating)

just want to thank the ppl of GH & AS (and of course all those of WSR) for the great fight in AS Bay.
kinda sad that we didn’t have the resources to defend it

i guess the [D] stands for Dungeon, so the corresponding person is in a dungeon with a player from the other server

That person has not yet revealed herself.
looks like we just found out something about that person

something isn’t quiet right about the EU ranking
it shows RoF going up from rank 22 to 21 and RoS down from 21 to 22. this already happened the previous week.
Acording to the ranking WSR and BT stayed at the same rank while they actually switched places

it is quiet simple: complete the events needed to take over the entrance to arah with the other players on your server and you won’t have to deal with monsters at the entrance.
Here some informations to the events that need to be completed: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gates_of_Arah_%28meta_event%29

So even though this post is going to be lost between all the other complaints:
2 days ago I was very excited for the lost shore update. Today I am not motivated to play gw2 at all. Today will mark the 4th day (if my count is right) since the release that I will not complete the daily achievements, for the first time it will not be because I don’t have time for it but because I simply don’t want to.
Why? Because of the announcement of ascended armor.
My main reason for loving gw1 & gw2 is that you very quickly reach the maximum level & get the best possible gear and that after that you are on an equal playfield (more so in gw1 than in gw2). That is the reason why I spent over 2000 hours in gw1 (and over 200 hours in gw2) but never played more than 300-400 hours in any other MMO.
Now some people will say it only is a small difference. The problem is that there is a difference at all. (And actually the difference isn’t all that small. If you look at the picture in the article you see that the item attributes increase by 7.94 % between exotic and ascended equipment. Once you can have full ascended armor for every slot it probably will increase your total stats by ~2-3 percent. This might not sound like all that much at first, but it is (just like the 13% item stats increase between rare & exotic items makes a huge difference even though most people will deny it)). And once full ascended gear is out we probably will get the next tier of armor which once again will be “slightly better”, which creates exactly the kind of gear grind I (and most likely many others) hoped to escape from with gw2.
I would love to have a new rarity of items which lies between exotic and legendary in difficulty/time required to get, but has the same stats, continuous stats progression however is a no go for me.
The second problem is agony & infusion. Now agony itself isn’t a problem. A mechanic that makes an endless dungeon continuously harder is a good thing. A mechanic that creates a huge difference between a geared team with infusion and an ungeared team (this is conjecture. I have no proof it will really make a huge difference, however Linsey’s article sure makes it sound like that) however is not. Lotro used to have a similar mechanic (Radiance and Gloom) luckily they did away with it and I don’t get why ANet thinks it is a good thing to introduce such a mechanic.
My biggest problem with this however is the announcement itself. ANet is usually very good as far as interaction with the community goes. There are devs posting in the forums or dropping by in game. However in the past they handled leaks very very badly. It sometimes took them days to give any reaction at all (especially when an early list of cash shop items leaked). In such a situation waiting is the worst thing you can do. You have to be able to react quickly and explain the situation else it will spin out of control and be interpreted in the worst possible way.
We first heard about this on a variety of MMO/gaming-related sites, not because of some kind of leak but because ANet gave them this information to release. They must have known this information would be controversial at best and they still weren’t prepared at all. They could have prepared some statements to calm the players. Instead we heard nothing at all for many hours, only then we got a tweet from Martin Kerstein that told us we should stay calm until we knew the details. This is generally a good tip, especially if the released info would have been misinterpreted, however it wasn’t. Now that the article is released I think it is safe to say: It is exactly what the people that were complaining feared.
Now over one day after the announcement we still have no concrete information why ANet is doing this. They say they do it because of player demand, but I can’t believe that many players wanted this. While there where hundreds of posts asking for more content at endgame on the official forums and on various fansites the posts asking for gear progression where very rare (and usually would be responded to by a dozen other people who say they would hate gear progression) and forums and fansites usually represent the more hardcore part of a games community, I really can’t imagine the more casual players want the changes that are to be introduced with this patch. Aside of this ANet has been extremely quiet about this (which is probably the worst thing they can do, right now they need to discuss this things with their fans and show that they care about player feedback).
tl;dr: More Content:good; Stats Progression: bad; Agony: good; Infusion: bad; ANets handling of the situation: very bad
