Thief has never been a counter to any class in the META. Thief was always able to be killed by every class. c_c

When will it be back up? Conquest has been nothing but utter smashing. Can’t find 4 other of my good PvP friends on at the same time to run 1 group or they’re all in other groups running. Solo queue is pretty much almost always a loss. :/ Before HoT I was running ranked and I’d win 2 of every 3 games and had streaks up to 8 games. Now I am lucky to win 1-2 games a night if I run 6-8. x_x

Don’t do a repair. It takes too long.

Delete GW2’s temporary file so it has to regenerate the file. You’ll only lose your graphics and sound settings but that’s it.

It fixed it for me.

Go here: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 and delete the “Local.dat” file.

I am getting same error code 1083:5:7:1595:101 yet hubby is upstairs on GW2 playing away. We are on same internet…… So I looked to see if others were having the same issues and found this thread.

I just deleted the “Local.dat” file and that worked just fine! Thanks!

I’m trying repair client now and it stalls at around 1/10 of the way and I left it alone for 20 minutes. Didn’t move :/

Untrue. They said they wanted maps that require people to work together. They said they want them to take about 8 hours to fully complete and they even said some Hero Points will require groups. Not everything is Soloable. They said they’re making it more challenging before it released yet everyone expects more of the same content. Challenging is the key word.

There seems to be a case of the Stockholm Syndrome going around.
Yes, the base game is going F2P. Yes, they will have fewer perks than existing core game owners.
In this, there is also a marketing trick to make it appear as if core game owners are dealt a better hand, between the two lower tiers, when, instead, they get a slap on the wrist.

The expansion is presented as an upgrade, yet there is no initiative to thank faithful players or welcome back retired players—many of which have not only bought the core game, but pumped money into it through micro-transactions.

The expansion is not a separate game, so pretending that the years of gameplay—which people have paid for—make up for being ignored (read: screwed over) at this juncture, is a good ol’ case of kidding yourselves.

I can honestly say I have spent maybe 20$ over the past 3 years, + 50$ for the core game + 100$ for ultimate edition of the expansion. That being said, I have no problems buying the expansion. I went out of my way to work some OT and make the extra 50$ to pay for ultimate. Why? Because I feel all the content and enjoyment I have gotten in the past 3 years has more than been worth an additional 50$ from me. I don’t feel like I have been screwed over. Look at every other game with expansions, are the core games still worth 50$? No.

Let’s look at WoW since it has the most expansions to show degrade in costs and free. WoW now offers every current expansion up to Warlords of Draenor + core game for 40-50$ which is pretty much the same thing GW2 is doing. But you don’t see everyone and their mom saying, “OH WELL I PAID $50 FOR MY GAME!”. It comes down to a lot of spoiled children angry they paid more money. The same decrease in price applies to pretty much anything you buy. Buy a game the day it comes out 50/60$ (depending if PC/Console) then 3 years later game is worth 10$, does that mean anyone who bought the original freaks out? No. And let’s look at TV’s. Say you buy a 42" LCD and it costs you 500$. Say I go for the same TV a year or 2 later and it’s only 300$. You going to still be mad I paid less? No. People need to stop being mad about people getting the core game free and only spending 50$ on the expansion.

ArenaNet has employees to pay and they have to pay for servers, techs, and for them to keep making content they need to have jobs for those people to do. I also think of this as a long-term investment. Maybe not everyone does, but in the 3 years I got (and counting) off the core game, I am more than happy to invest into 3 more. And let’s not forget that all the first time events (Karka Lag-fest!) and rewards will never be obtainable by them. New players never got to know Old Lion’s Arch, they never saw Scarlet, they are probably still unaware of what’s going on in Living Season 2. They don’t know the struggles with dungeons at launch when they were super difficult, the world boss revamp when Tequatl first got updated, they won’t have all the achievement points we do. And the AP might seem stupid to some, but some of those skins are pretty awesome (especially those 26k+ AP weapon skins that a lot of people are closing in on), the gold, account buffs, and even gems and titles. Ultimately, new players will not get all the joy we’ve had over the past 3 years, but all of us can enjoy the game together for the next 3 and help GW2 community continue to grow.

Hey everyone. I’m a new player. Before I begin my rant, let me precede by telling you the kind of games I play frequently: DoTA2, Battlefield 3 & 4, Starcraft II, Dragon Age: Origins. For single player games I play on a harder difficulty because I like challenge, and as for the others, I play PvP because I like in-depth mechanics, strategy, and a good challenge.

On to GW2. I picked this game up because my friends raved about it, and after reading the stunning reviews, I went ahead and took the plunge and bought the game. I played World of Warcraft a long time ago and thought that was a decently challenging game. But right now I have a level 9 sylvari and all I can say is this game is INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY EASY and BORING!

I am “completely” floored by how easy it is to “kill stuff”. I don’t even need to use 2, 3, or 4, all I do is walk up to stuff (that is my level or higher) and kill in 6 or less hits with auto-attack. Am I missing something here? I haven’t bought anything from the stores. Does the game get harder as you go along? Does the PvE get any better than this? My experience feels way different than everyone else, and I’m wondering if I’m doing it wrong. What exactly makes this game so great to stand out amongst the other MMO’s on the market? Maybe it isn’t for me, but judging by the reviews there’s got to be some hidden substance.

Well for starters… you’re level 9 in a starter map. Trying to do that in say a Fractal at level 80 will end up with your face buried in the dirt. That being said, it is the beginning and GW2 is quite a bit more casual than other MMO’s like WoW. The expansion is bringing some pretty good content with Raids and mobs that require quite a bit of awareness and effort to fight as they have tough hides that make fighting them head on much more challenging. I would advise looking at some end game content to see if it’s your style. And also e sure to check out the Heart of Thorns expansion because the new content could also be what you’re looking for.

I am also from PA with massive ping spikes. Not constantly but really bad right now.

Why is everyone in uproar? Downscaling was originally meant to make you as powerful AS that level not make it so you can still be super powerful. That would completely ruin the point of downscaling. I run a Zerk thief with Fire and Air sigils so I rely on crit chance/dmg heavily. I can still run dungeons like AC and do FE with no problems.

Thieves have the lowest HP pool so I don’t see why so many people are disgruntled. Everyone wants to be downleveled but still be super powerful. Yeah I lose my ascended stats to Masterwork since that’s the HIGHEST TIER FOR THAT LEVEL and I lose my Ferocity because only 2 stats on lvl 35 gear. But so many people are up in arms over this. Everyone says “twice as weak as it once was” when we were NEVER weak. I could go to Sparkfly and 3 shot enemies. How is that weak!? Downscaling makes you as powerful as you CAN be for that level. So many people are hating every aspect of every thing because they made things harder for players. I can still run every dungeon on a zerk thief post-patch. So if I can do it, anyone can because in PvE stealth is not gonna kill enemies, DPS does. And if I can survive on a thief, anyone can survive with more hp/armor.

Hey all! I am Ryu Gekido, leader of The Dragonic Legion. I returned a few months back and have decided to do some recruiting for my guild I made shortly after launch. Most of my current players came with me from another MMO and we’re looking to expand our group. We’re looking for anything from Casual to Hardcore players. From new players to returning players to GW2 veterans who’ve played everyday since launch. We’re a pretty casual guild. We’re looking to do more guild events/activities but we need more bounties to complete which is 1 of the many reasons for wanting to recruit.

We’re also looking to recruit because the expansion is coming, and we’d like to run as a guild. We do map completion runs, we do PvP, PvE and WvW. We like to do world bosses together, etc. We’re basically looking to expand and grow our [DRAC] family. We’re a friendly bunch and don’t mind helping people and answering questions.

We have a TS3 server, I am currently revamping our guild site, and we have a Facebook group. This allows us to communicate when we can’t always be on TS3 such as work or vacation away from home, etc. We’re a close knit group looking to expand our circle and have glorious battles and epic laughter during our adventures.

Our final big reason for wanting to recruit is because of the Guild Halls coming with HoT! Who wants to sit in a half-empty lodge? We want to fill it with fun players looking to have a good time! There could be more pets, but they better not buff pets. Rangers are already one of the heaviest hitters, their pets can apply conditions as well as some DPS and they can revive them faster than any player can revive another player. I hope they add cool new pets, but they don’t need any kind of boost.

Doesn’t this RNG logic apply to all games? You could get a great drop on your first few mobs or may take all day to get anything good and still might not. It’s a really low drop rate so that closed BETA isn’t super flooded. Open BETA will likely stress test it out.

Luckier than me. Launch player and I don’t have a legendary yet or even had a precursor drop. Been at this for 3 days and not even a single exotic. x.o Wanna talk about bad luck, but you got a precursor which in itself is amazing as a drop. :p Also I am aiming for spark because my thief needs Incinerator >:3

I think it’s still bugged. I’ve done it with 1 friend and with 2, we save everyone, waited around for 10 minutes to make sure they all got there, swept the entire map to the edges and waited, and it didn’t disappear until we stepped in but no members were left on the map. :/
