Siege Variation (WvW different Golem skin)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dseaver.8740

Hello, I was thinking the WvW golems could use some more skin variation.

For example,

Charrs have the Flaming Effigy.
Sylvari has the Oakheart.
Humans have Tanks.

Asuran golems we are currently using.

The functionality and skills should remain the same, just different skins for golems.

What's a good name for my Charr warrior?

Legs: Aetherblade armor
Feet: Aetherblade armor

Dyes: Cinders, Illumination and Black Cherry or Midnight red

Daaayum I think I can see the perks of having a female character now

I ask that you remain respectful to your fellow man/woman, and be constructive in your approach to the development of the game, and understand Tyria is made up of communities and not individuals.

It is such a simple concept, yet its always ridiculed by folks consumed by anger, bordom and frustration.

You guys at ArenaNet have done hell of a job dealing with endless negativity.
Keep up the good work.

I’ve tried just about every MMOs created on this planet, some not even translated into English, and I must say that GW2’s gameplay overall is light years ahead.

The fact that I can still have a blast playing a lvl 30 dungeon a year after I’ve completed is just brilliant game design.

I also love the fact that this game does not allow “Inspect gear” on other players,

My exotic gear set from a year ago is completely viable (in fact, now its worth MORE on TP)

Action oriented combat system, which also allows anybody to ressurect ANY players during combat,

The list just goes on and on…

I have concluded that Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO that was not designed to exploit gamers with thick wallets.

Here’s a novel idea, how ’bout players like you actually run people through the dungeon and teach them, instead of scaring them off with kitten like this. Then when you want to run you will actually have people to run it with.

Most players I know still haven’t even run all the dungeons after a year of solid play, largely because of players like you.

You’re like the industries that demand nothing but experienced professionals for years and years then can’t figure out why there are no more experienced professionals once that generation retires. People need experience, to become, experienced.

Well said.

Replacing All Dugeon Tokens with Laurels

Yeah let me just run cof p1 everyday and then I can buy Arah gear!

No. Earn your dungeon gear by doing that dungeon. I don’t see why everyone has a problem with multiple currencies.

The February 26th patch destroyed this doctrine in a way. Please allow me to explain.

The ascended gear has a feature specifically designed for a relatively new dungeon called the Fractals of Mists. I am talking about the Infusion slot.
However, a player can achieve these ascended gear without ever having to leave Queensdale.

Some of the current “the best in slot” items can be obtained without ever setting foot inside an instance.

If people actually welcome challenges and run harder instances such as Ruined City of Arah explore modes, then this new change will not affect them.

So many players do Arah runs, because they have to.
“Work” in real life shares a similar philosophy I believe.

I’m sure the devs will come up with appropriate laurel requirements for dungeon gear if they ever implement the change, I have faith in them.

CoF path 1 can be finished in minutes, isn’t that a good thing for casuals?
Hardcore gamers will begin running other paths and instances to earn maximum amount of Laurels per day. Giving them opportunities to run something other than CoF path 1 farm sounds wonderful to me.

Replacing All Dugeon Tokens with Laurels

Have the devs considered completely removing all dungeon tokens from the game and replacing them with Laurels?

- Each dungeon path grants 1 Laurel per day (story mode included).

- All dungeon gear requires 1 or 2 laurel to purchase.

This change might lead to significant population decrease in WvW, since it highly encourages dungeon runs.

*Note that running the same path the same day will not give additional laurel.

Citadel of Flame, Path 2, Kaboomium event

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Dseaver.8740

Is it possible to complete this event without the death of the entire team?

Citadel of Flame path 2 used to be the most efficient dungeon run in Guild Wars 2. In fact, the players became so efficient at this, some could even finish the run in 8 minutes.

For example, only one player was needed to cross the magma field, and the entire kaboomium event could be skipped by climbing the ledges next to the final gate.

All these methods that made the run more efficient compared to all the other dungeons were soon fixed by the developers. Now, you need at least two players by the magmacyte, and the ledges which allowed the skipping of Kaboomium event was removed.

All the fixes of path 2 and the introduction of farming penalty made this dungeon run on par with other dungeons, which allowed players to run other instances without the feeling of missing out, when it came to efficiency of time played Vs. money earned.

However, there was one small oversight.

And that is the Kaboomium event.
Before the changes were made on this path, Magg set the charges fast enough, a well coordinated group was able to protect Magg, finish the event without any deaths.

Now that the duration has been doubled, the chance of successfully completing this event without the death of the entire team is extremely low, if not, impossible. Keep in mind that the repair cost in Guild Wars 2 is fairly low, and it is not a serious issue in any way, but the point here is that, is it possible to complete this event without the whole team dying at least once?

Is there a group out there that completed this event recently without the deaths of the entire team members?

Or was this tactic (1-2-2 death order) intended?

Thank you for your time.

Why did you roll a Charr?

Dseaver.8740

I define Charr race as, “A seasoned front-line soldiers that are expendable.”

This is Guild Wars 2, and war requires soldiers.

In any war, soldiers are expendable.

If I’m gonna send a guy to get the job done in the front-line while getting torn into pieces, that would be Charr warriors.

When I play an MMO, its concept and immersion are everything to me. Charr race does exactly that in Guild Wars 2.

Ranger SB Nerf: Not 40 milliseconds

in Ranger

Dseaver.8740

Took a couple of days to get debugging in on this. It is in fact a 40ms difference which equates to about 7% less damage when spamming 1. We made this change because it was creating some animation bugs to leave it where it was. It was also encouraging just spamming 1 which isn’t the most fun gameplay. If our data shows shortly that shortbow is now not effective we can certainly address that, but would do so by improving other skills on that weapon rather than by reintroducing the spam on 1 and the bugs that it was creating.

Please… you have to realize some people like me love spamming 1 which is the most fun game play for me….

If you could stop defining what is fun and what is not fun, I would be very grateful.

You did not improve any other skills to compensate for this huge nerf and we know you will not improve any other skills without serious amount of testing, which can take a few months.

You guys messed up a crucial mechanism while trying to fix a minor graphical glitch no one even knew about.

If you just “Undo” this short bow nerf, everyone would be happy. It’s a complete WIN- WIN situation. You guys really do not need to fix something that is not broken.

Devs, you can be honest and just tell us that you guys used the graphical glitch as an excuse to implement this huge short bow nerf.
