I got obsidian shards just yesterday, so I don’t think anything has changed.

Warriors getting ruined ore

Not a Warrior, but I noticed that if I equip a kit as an Engineer in the middle of harvesting I will start to get ruined materials. Not sure, but the issues may be related somehow.

Please tone down the Necro staff sounds

Necromancer is an awesome class and I have a lot of fun playing it. My only major complaint is that I can hardly hear the game and my friends on chat while using staff. Its sound effects are so piercing and considering how quickly you can throw off skills with it, it overtakes everything else.

Looking for players on Eredon Terrace

Since the only reply to this thread so far is ‘move to Tarnished Coast’, I feel the need to say welcome to Eredon Terrace. If you are looking for a guild, Hydranivis [HDNS] is a small guild based in Eredon Terrace with guildleaders (me and my friends) who are eager to lend a hand.

Though of course, there is a very good chance that you have gotten assimilated into TRU as I am writing this, but whatever. Cheers! Hope to see you around.

The loading screen, why all Warriors?

I don’t really have too much to say about this, but I just feel that the WvW loading screen should do more to encompass all races and professions instead of painting a portrait of an army of Tier 3 cultural armor norn Warriors.

Spirit skills confuse me

in Ranger

I don’t play Ranger on my main, so I haven’t spent too much time playing around with skills and traits, but just by looking at the skill descriptions of the Spirit skills, I don’t understand why anyone would use them. 20% chance to activate a seemingly trivial bonus? And 20% chance from what? Taking damage, dealing damage, every few seconds? I just don’t understand. Would anyone care to explain how these skills can be utilized effectively?

Gadgets, how do they work?

I have played around with my build and utility skills an awful lot, but I never find myself using things like the Personal Battering Ram, the Slick Shoes, the Rocket Boots, or the Utility Goggles. I haven’t really been able to come up with a good use for these skills yet, so I am wondering if and how anyone else uses these skills. Also while we are at it, is the Thumper Turret really as bad as I think it is, or does it have its uses? Thoughts?

PvE Builds?

I’m not too familiar with dungeons, but in terms of Engi support options, the Elixir Gun is great for this. With a trait found in the first tier of Tools, you can cast a skill just by activating a kit. This creates a Super Elixir healing field just for taking out your Elixir Gun. It is then possible to drop down an additional Super Elixir with the 5 skill to create a ridiculous healing field. Not to mention the toolbelt skill for Elixir Gun grants regeneration to you and your allies. Obviously having points towards healing makes this effect more significant, so I would suggest putting points towards Inventions for this. I change my build around a lot, but I am currently running 30 in Firearms, 30 in Inventions, and 10 in Tools. The points towards Inventions can make turrets take less damage and give you more supplies for the Supply Crate elite skill (my personal go-to elite skill) which are useful for outputting some extra damage, or at the very least spawning a new target for enemies to beat instead of you.

Remove the WvW areas from World Completion

Yes, this needs to happen immediately. WvWvW map completion is unfair to be considered for a solo player’s PvE progress when WvWvW is inherently designed for massive amounts of players against massive amounts of players.

Lack of checkpoints breaks the immersion

in Personal Story

Duhh.4102

I find myself easily about to get caught up in the excitement of the story missions time and time again. Daring situations, interesting and clever characters, a sense of grand scale importance, I find it wonderful. However, sometimes I mess something up and I end up dead. When this occurs, I am given the option to exit the entire mission and erase all progress, or “respawn at a checkpoint”. This is where the immersion into the game’s world completely falls apart. I hit respawn, and I am resurrected from the dead exactly where I left in the flow of events with no immediate consequences. This realization that you are an immortal seems especially annoying right after you witness the death of a friendly NPC via cutscene. Where is the challenge? Where is the sense that what I am doing means something? I feel that death in story should have more negative consequences than death in the other areas of play. I think it would be better if respawning set your progress in the mission backwards to an actual checkpoint state.

I'm am Engineer, can dialog respect that?

This is a very minor issue, but it still annoys me. I’m sure most of you are aware of the various heart missions in Asuran land that involve interacting with Asuran technology, specifically the first one you encounter in the beginning of Metrica Province. When you go to fix the broken golems, you get a dialog option based on your race: all asura can competently fix the machines, while the other races are left to mash at it in a fit of confusion. I am a human engineer and I find it out of place for my character to respond in a manner that shows no engineering mindset. Additionally, I feel that being an engineer should decrease the amount of times the Asura will end an explanation with something along the lines of, “it’s too complicated for someone like you to understand”.

tl;dr Engineers are smart, not just people who can use a gun. Make the dialog options reflect that.

Thoughts about the shortbow?

in Ranger

Posted by: Duhh.4102

Duhh.4102

I find the Shortbow’s #1 skill to have the exact opposite issue as the longbow; it is too kitten fast. The first skill spams at such a ridiculous rate that it does enough damage to make the other four skills it has completely redundant. When I play Ranger, I force myself not to use the shortbow because I feel it makes the class a mindless overpowered spamfest. I think it requires a nerf as soon as possible. An added bonus from nerfing the shortbow is that doing so would hamper the viability of about 90% of the game’s bots :p.

WvWvW Map Completion Shouldn't Matter

As someone who plays on a server that consistently gets demolished in WvWvW (Eredon Terrace), I find that the most frustrating thing in the game is that 100% map completion is basically impossible to obtain without ditching my server. I feel that map/world completion should be a personal achievement (hence the title it gives you to make you special :p) not an achievement for the entire server. I see absolutely no reason for WvWvW being included in map completion, given its stark difference from the PvE world and the fact that other PvP areas aren’t included either. All this aspect of map completion does is make me feel penalized for my initial server choice.
